17 pointsJust a thank you to all who assisted in putting on a great show that was not dampened by a few downpours. Thanks WHCC and Wild Bill for the moving memorial for our fallen friends. Personal thanks to @ericj for the loan of his impact gun to change my flat tires and for his FEL for loading Chucks, Guys, and my trailers for the trips home.

13 pointsAfter being "missing in action" for over a week. Prepping for the show, the show, and putting everything away, I thought it may be a good idea to treat Mrs. K to lunch. The spot I chose was Lee's Landing in Port Deposit, Md. This is on the back waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Probably the best tray full of steamed seafood ever, and only $30. You can see Lee's Landing in this photo. Just to the left of the gap in the row of white buildings across the river. Exactly where I fish for stripers.

11 pointsHello all, Bought this at the show for $25... basically for the rims and tires. Then I noticed that not only are they deep dish they are the no slot ones. Also the 8 speed seems ok and is half full of relatively decent no water oil. I'm also considering adding this homemade up down brinly type hitch to my C160 rat... which runs great but is a rusted cobbled together mess. I just like the look of it and steam punk in general. But... look at these pics... and look close. This thing has had iron welded everywhere. Check the frame rails... look at the tierods... Lift mechanism area fish plated / trans mount... on and on.. I think this was a B80 based on shorter hood and so on. If tractors could talk..... Tony 20230626_101920.mp4

11 pointsInstalled AG's all the way around on the 753 I bought from Paul Dicken at The Big Show 2022 I've had the rear wheels and Carlisle's for several years (bought them at the big show), the front wheels and matching Carlisle's I bought Thursday at the Big show from a guy named Randy. Thank you Randy if you read this. Next upgrade will be a stack and a flippy cap. Not sure if I want to do wheel weights or not. This is just a ride around tractor.

8 pointsI told myself not to post too many cruise night pictures, I already did that in another thread… but I wanted to tag a few people it was great to shake hands with. @zigzag, @formariz, @varn, @JPWH, @12 hp Kohler, @wallfish Thank you for the opportunity to wear the proverbial Skunk Stripe from the motorcycle! @JoeM and @fast88pu you guys sure build some cool rides! @Wheel Horse 3D on @roadapples machine too. That picture was when we first saw each other after Grey and Catherine’s arrival!

7 pointsQuite a few cool customs and neat paint jobs…. It’s kind of sad to see @Bear G’s last in someone else’s possession…

7 pointsRylee brought her boyfriend Henry this year. He’s pretty much hooked! To tractors and to her, I think…. Young love We’ll start out with them tugging her new 875. Here’s the link to Jeremy’s build on that. It’s a project indeed, but has an awesome start! Like her dad, she’s a sucker for a big fat tire, and he made an offer for ownership she couldn’t refuse. We’ll touch on that soon. @Handy Don built an awesome front attach flail mower. It has tons of lift capability and potential for future attachments as well.

6 pointsMiss Janie. What a sweet lady. Mrs. @roadapples gave Rylee one of Mr. Jay’s personal belongings, a piece of his art, and gave us both some of his t-shirts. @Jrblanke took an awesome picture of Rylee and Janie on a bench. They chatted for what seems at least an hour one time!

6 pointsAfter driving the 41 mile to the show, both trailer tires went flat while waiting an hour for the gate to open. So I came home with two flat tires and two new tires and wheels. Also brought two blowers home that Chuck @cafoose didn't want to haul back to Tenn. A short chute parts blower and a working Ber Vac dual monster.

5 pointsThe CD that has the music for Fridays Cruise Night wellllllll, I did use the CD for the "She's So Fine My 409" wedding march song and I left the CD in the office figuring it would be a safe place to keep till after the ice cream social. Well, what I did not know was the guy who set up the Audio for the membership meeting (who is not a club member) went in the office and after leaving locked the door ........ this was a new lock, and we did not have a key! We had a lock smith trying to open the door but could not remove the tumblers. I was foaming at the mouth mad and drove my 6 speed Lawn Ranger up on the door step and was going to ram the door open .... lucky I realized the front weight was not on my tractor to act as a push bar and stopped myself. But But But Bill we did hear the music the next morning welllll let me explain the rest of the story. Early Saturday morning Charlie Culley walked by me in the flea market area and told me the door was now open and I could get my CD. Now I cannot go from point A to point B at the Wheel Horse Show .... just too much to see. And now I get called up to the Registration Office, as a kid I was called to the principals office many times and thought "This can't be good" . I guess still left over guilt as a kid. At the Registration office I was now told Daryl Horning is bringing in my CD, well when he walks in and his hands are shaking holding the CD box and he said to me I'm sorry Bill it broke coming out of the machine. I looked and the CD was cracked! My heart sunk as I have owned and always very carefully protected that CD since the 7th show. My thoughts how can I remember all the songs on that CD and get it remade??? I had forgotten there was a play list on the back. Vanessa Smith "Hey I give this list to my daughter, and she can hook it up to her phone and play it" . She gives the box with the broken disc. Now I don't know how to do this but I do know kids do it all the time. So now Daryl is still talking to me and he say's "Hey listen you can now hear the music", But wait a minute I had watched the girl with the phone in her hand and didn't see her do any thing. And then they gave me back the box with the broken CD in it and said open it up ....... they swapped out my CD with some old broken CD Daryl had in his truck and put my CD on to play Saturday morning! The moral of this story well there ain't one but it does give me a year to come up with a dang good pay back!

5 pointsIt was a great year for EZ Ups! Most things outside got wet, no matter what people tried to do to prevent it. Luckily, there was no wind to speak of during the rain events.

5 pointsSome I’ve seen before, some new things at the show. All awesome stuff! One machine I meant to get pictures and details on was @Wild Bill in VA’s Lawn Ranger. Could you tell about the turn brakes on that? Was it a rare kit, a customized addition, or otherwise? Not to mention, the electric lift on it. Cool stuff!

5 pointsYou are in for a challenge. Kind of hard to describe in words how to do it. Using too many pieces of different woods it’s going to drive you nuts. Essentially to use complete existing steering wheel the easiest way it is to make a sandwich. The more segments the less end grain of course and the best look. There are various ways of doing it however I would make it the following way using only the tools you have; 1- decide how many segments you want and assemble an oversized “pizza pie”. Use finger joints in segments such as the ones in finger jointed trim. You are gluing a lot of end grain to end grain which is not a dependable glue surface so those provide long grain surfaces. They also allow you to assemble pie prior to gluing it. Pie slices allow easier safer cutting of joints tan a very small piece. You also need to decide on this step how thick you want it. As for species it’s personal preference on the look. I don’t like to work with maple . It burns when machining , it doesn’t plane well and if appropriate measures are not taken it comes out blotchy when stained. 2- complete pie will provide you with a center point from which you will attach your jig to route the half circle into which the steering wheel will sit. It will also make clamping easier using a band clamp, and allow easy layout of final diameter. You will need to get the proper core box bit to route the half circle. Check fit with steering wheel since it may not be perfectly round. 3- once you have the two pies with half circles routed into them, you can then cut the outside part of circle. Screw the two halves together using center point for first screw so it’s precise and cut the two at same time. Now route the 1/4 rounds already on the outside while it has the strength of the entire pie. You can then cut the inside creating the circle. Your steering is flat (not dished) so on the ribs it’s good to leave some material like on the original . Probably like one inch or less. Therefor the inside is not a continuous circle. The half circle for the ribs could have been done before but best at this point by hand since you can now try it for fit. Careful with inside cut during and after because now it’s fragile. Inside will have to be cut with a jigsaw or scroll saw. 4- dry fit it until you are sure of everything. Then it’s time to assemble and glue it together. If the half circle routed for steering and ribs is precise it will keep everything nicely aligned. Clamp it every couple of inches for a tight glue line but don’t starve joint since it will be rather narrow when finished .Use water resistant glue since it will be exposed to moisture outside. 5- once glued and strong as a completed unit ,you then have to shape the inside. A router table is best for that. Can also do it safer by hand since you have to worry about the part around ribs. it’s best to make it oversized when it comes to the thickness and to keep reducing it once assembled since it is then at its strongest point. Don’t try to make it too narrow . Not only it probably break during construction it also will not have much glue surfaces. I would stick with 1/2” to 5/8” material for each half. It will make a comfortable surface to grab and it will not look bulky. Even 3/4” is ok. By the time it’s all dressed it will be much thinner.

5 pointsI was the Blessed one, she will be taken care of, going to festivals and parades. A nice one I won’t have to restore. Thanks to the team that did a Fabulous job. A nice add to my 52 tractor collection. I had no idea to win, just got out of the rain and decided to buy a few tickets that my Girlfriend filled out for me. (She is my lucky charm).

4 pointsBout time you figured out that computer/phone thingy. We need our fix of "Howardese" around here! NOW you need to take care of yourself. Don't make me get @elcamino/wheelhorse to keep an eye on you! Next year I'll have him throw you in the back of the Volvo to make sure you get to Pa !

4 pointsI was never sick of the back hoe but it was super sad just to watch it sit there and not be used much. That tractor was built for working so it needed to get used. Probably one of the top 10 difficult decisions of my life to let that thing go but I definitely feel better now than watching it rot. I had A LOT of time and effort into that machine and it was my first WH too.

4 pointsOK...the plug on the side is the way you can check the oil level. The oil should be added until it starts to run out that hole. 1 1/2 to 2 qts of 90 wt oil it will take if fully drained. The drain plug is on the bottom toward the rear of the trans...probably an Allen wrench plug. Oh Oh...looks like ri702bill beat me to it...but this may not be that expensive. It sounds like a clean up issue...bearings may be good...replace all 4 seals, a new gasket, and a new boot. Drop the trans, open it up, clean it out (get rid of any rust) replace seals. A couple of days...maybe. Could be under $50 and last another 50 years. Replacing bearings can raise the price, but most are not to bad. Not sure what trans you have, but this video will show you what you are up against. All of the transmissions are built the same.

4 pointsThank you so much for posting the video! Scott sent me some photos, and I saw some pictures on Facebook but had not seen the video until this morning. Phil was a special guy. It's hard to believe that he is gone. Wild Bill, you did a wonderful service. My heart goes out to Scott and to Phil's friends. Phil: Fly high and know that you were a wonderful friend and a mentor! xo Rest in Peace.

4 pointsThis is Donny. He sent me home with his cherished 702, looking for a restoration to return next year. We made a list of his requests and I’ll do my best to impress!

4 pointsThe yellow machine above, being signed is a sweet shot. Maybe one of my favorites of the show. The 604 cruising in the background is Henry’s new rig. He shopped for a while, trying to find a deal, trying to find a fixer upper to learn some stuff on. We got this from “Red Man” with the Munsters hot rod rig. It had some recoil issues and when we took it off to do some work on it, we realized there was no starter cup. We found a rope start cup and played with a few things like checking the oil, checking for spark, and draining the fuel and tossing some rec fuel in it. He was pretty happy to be cruising! After the countless laps during the Friday Night Cruise, it began to smoke and let the rod loose before he could get back to the canopy. @Raposo, we found a use for that Magnum 8! Thanks buddy!

4 pointsAND - the added tongue length makes it a tad easier to back up!! Backing up a short wheelbase trailer is very similar to herding cats!!

4 pointsI bought these front wheels and Ag tires at the big show from a guy named Randy, and I already had the rears from several years ago. Today I put them on the 753 I bought at last years Big Show from Paul Dicken ( Big Thank You Paul)

4 pointsI haven't been to a big show yet but Mr. Phil Bowling's Memorial Ride almost takes my breath away. I've been to quite a few events but this was a genuine honesty that brought tears to my eyes. This forum and its members are a special feature that is unparalleled. the more is now my need now to see ya all face to face.

3 pointsI always do a little shopping at the Annual Wheel Horse Show. Here's a few things I picked up. 1) A Wheel Horse Drag Harrow, not the original PH-18 but I believe the second version 2) The Second Edition of Straight From the Horse's Mouth autograph by Mike Martino 3) The rubber rings you see on the book ...... if you know what they are you know they are hard to find. these are the gromets that go around the gas tank filler neck on the Lawn Ranger and models 604 and 654. 3 pointsI would suspect the shift forks are rusted and not moving back and forth completely. Just curious, was their any sign of a shifter boot left on it? Was their any oil at all left in it? Was the top of the transmission covered in old oil residue? I have a theory that you can inspect a tractor and tell if a transmission has water in it by the oil on top of the transmission around the shifter hole and down the sides. as the transmission fills with water, the gear oil floats, as more water enters, the oil gets pushed out the shifter hole. I've picked up a couple with water and past water to what turns into greasy rusty mud. As said the transmission really should be opened up and gone through. Edit:Steve types faster than I do!

3 pointsWeight loss? I find it depends on Weight and if i feel comfortable with that weight. how much i weight? Huh, dunno... i believe 75-76Kilos. I bin my scale about 3 years ago or so. Having each Day a Walk of about 1,5 Km with the Dog right after Dinner makes me feeling allright. Kati do the other Walk. Mostly the Morning Walk with same distances. Having lot of movement each Day ( shure i do few things with my Tractas) but like today, i cutting the Hedge with the Beast to take care of my Back But than i collect the Cut later on with a manual rake and by Hands. All together it was 3 Cubicmeters of Cut spreaded in 2 Big Bags along an 70 m Hedge. Than the Wheelhorse ride it for me to the Dump. Dumping each of the Bigbags by Hands, so enough movement for today at 36degC. I eat everything what i like, but mostly once a Day. in Summer for me, an Icecream a Day is a must. 😎 gently Breakfast - mostly a Nutella Bread sometimes with peanut butter.... Mostly no Lunch and at Dinner all i like, that is my reciept. There be day‘s out of this ritual, but they be rare. Coffee is a must have the whole day so about 1-2 Litres a Day for me is fully normal. sometimes added by 0.5 litre Water or A 0,5litre Pepsi a Day. Troubles with weight? Canot imagine that i have it anytime, except in that time when i eat regulary. So i go back to my Lifestyle and my weight comes down quickly. The only thing i have learned, all the Weight loss tries where absolute senseless without movement. Diets with medicals are mostly helped them, who sale it . Weight loss is easy, keep the Weight is the Challenge. 😉

3 pointsSo I couldn’t wait to do a test ride on some of this wood. I don’t really know what this species is but it works like Black Walnut and it has great color. Handle on plane is Black Walnut. It is very dense but it planes really well. This is great stuff Kevin. @Pullstart

3 pointsI'd say there was a whole lotta beer and welding rods spent on that tractor. Shame there wasn't alot of primer/paint over time as well. Whoever did that didn't trust the strength of the frame design. A lot of thought (and work) went into the modifications, even if they don't look very clean. No matter what, the one who did that obviously enjoyed the machine. I think that's great!
-
3 pointsWell guys it that old adage. Do the simple things first. The gas cap not venting because it not original to the Raider 10 tank. Been running it all morning. The only thing is the cap leaks so that is what started the problem. So far .
-
3 pointsIn all the woods exploration we do and Trina and I being born and raised country folk who spent most of our younger days outside, Neither one of us has ever had poison ivy rash. Not that we would be prone to pushing our luck but to the best of my knowledge we don't have any on the land except maybe right out by the roadside.

3 pointsNicely done! You nailed the length! Looks perfect

3 pointsLike wise, and the Jay's Speedex they should have made an exception. I am just saying that because Jay was a wheel horse collector and sometimes I think the most important part of a tractor is the owner. Maybe there could be a preempted request of sorts that needs approved based upon application. IDK ?? When they had the ceremony for those guys and you could have heard a pin drop. Amazing people. A few pics from the build.
