15 pointsThe memorial service for Phil Bowling was the hardest thing I have ever had to do at the Annual Wheel Horse Show. We were friends for over 20 years and had been to many tractor shows together. Phil always helped me load up my Wheel Horses and after the show and then we would go out to a restaurant and spend the rest of the night talking. Knowing Phil, the service had to be fitting just for him. The rider less Wheel Horse was set up by Scott Shear and I and it was well evident that everyone at the Wheel Horse Show understood the meaning. And yes, those were Phil's ashes on the seat of the Wheel Horse, it was his last ride. It was in true spirit that every person had their tractor engine shut off except Phil's and at one point when I looked out to everybody all standing silent with their hats not on their heads but draped over their heart .... I was really choked up. At the young age of 55 years old God must have taken Phil to repair something in Heaven of get an explanation on how something works. R.I.P. Phil Bowling I'm sorry I do not have any pictures or video for this post. Wild Bill in Richmond VA

14 pointsDidn’t get too many parts or any new tractors from show but thanks to the thoughtfulness, and kindness of Kevin @PullstartI brought what feeds my mind and warms my soul. A van load of exotic wood cut offs . Precious stuff much of it at or over 3 feet in length. I will be sharing it with my son who’s already salivating over it. My mind is already racing with the many possibilities for it so stay tuned. Thank you for thinking of me Kevin.

12 pointsIt’s nothing, compared to the Casimiro Sousa & Sons hand plane that was given to me by such a kind man! I have a lot to be thankful for at the show. I didn’t buy any machines myself, but picked up one harbored by @roadapples, Guy and @Ed Kennell, was gifted this plane by Cas, and Jeremy @p38js really did a contribution for Rylee. He put a small price tag on the load, but it was nothing compared to the goods he delivered to her. So many stand up people in this community! I’m honored! I’ll touch on the tractors in another thread, but thank you to everyone who made this year so special!

9 pointsjust picked up this C165!! just dont know about this model , needs a new drive belt and a pin to hold the hood in place .

9 pointsI first met Jay (Roadapples) about 8 years ago. We both got a lot of laughs from each other's posts but we had never met. Jay was driving his C-160 with the loader and back hoe by my spot and had the "Horse Mask " on the hood and he activated the "Whinnie horn" I waved him over and a friendship was born. Jay's brother Guy gave me the mask and horn at the show which I didn't know was coming. I had a hard time controlling my emotions. I don't think I could have come home with anything more valuable! I will install the horn better in the coming days.

7 pointsHello all, Miss the show already... wish it was like a week long!! Lol Anyways... I sold this tractor with ~300 odd hours 5 or 6 years back. It quit 2 or 3 years back and was left in field where it died. Friend said "no spark..." can I fix. I reluctantly agreed to and dreaded it... but today I took all apart, gave it a bath and started taking all 500 screws and bolts out to get to ignition module. Clean cylinder barrels and so on... With tip from @Sparky I downloaded manual from here on RS and started following ignition troubleshooting step by step. Found issue, tested for spark... got exact results that Onan says is good to go and BOOM.... fire in pipes! Going back together now and then a long run to make sure it's not heat related. Lincoln from A-Z parts also was very helpful in letting me know ow tips and tricks to look for P.S. let me know what you think of the auxiliary heavy duty cooling kit! 20230625_123621.mp4 Tony 20230625_123936.mp4 20230625_123259.mp4

7 pointsKevin and Don, Thanks so much for capturing these moments. I was not sure how everyone would react to this Wheel Horse Wedding BUT I did see everyone got a good laugh out of this. Brandon and Samantha are going to get married and I watched Brandon grow up from the Annual Wheel Horse, he was a good kid who grew up to be a good man and for several years brought "Sam" to the show . I talk with Brandon's mom through Facebook and told her that I will have a present for them at the show ..... A Wheel Horse Wedding! I think the kids had a few sleepless nights wondering just what Wild Bill had up his sleeve! Now I did have member come up to me at the show and ask me if I was ordained to perform the ceremony and started to tell me all the legalities involved. My reply was that I'm only ordained in B.S. and the wedding was for fun. Telling the people at the show that we were going to have a wedding at the show during day got all kinds of reactions BUT when people started to see Sam with a wedding vail on and bride's maids all dressed the same at their tractor display .... folks started to realize .... there really is going to be a wedding at the show! I had to put some fun Wheel Horse thoughts into this from the wedding march song :She's so fine me 409" from the first song on the cruise night play list, the brides maids, Wheel Horse Key rings for the wedding rings to reading from the "Book of Unidrive". I hoped y'all enjoyed the fun. Wild Bill in Richmond VA

6 pointsDrove 150 miles today to pick up this 702. The original owner recently passed away and the new owner said it sat behind the shed uncovered for at least the past 25 years. The good news is that it is all original and has a sickle bar. It also has attached to the tractor is the frame for a snowplow but the plow could not be found. The bad news is the motor is locked and the transmission shifts through all gears but the axles will not turn. The original tires are falling off the rims but the rims are solid. The hood and fenders are toast but the remaining metal is all good. I’m not sure if it can be saved or not. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

6 pointsTo you Kollin since you are still very young and impressionable ,Richard not only is kind but he is also extremely wise as evidenced in countless comments he has made over the years referring to many different subjects not always relating to tractors or machinery . Comments such as “ when they try to keep you out, you draw them in” have a lot of meaning and good advice if you allow yourself to read ,think about, and understand them. You will learn a lot from the individuals in here like Richard ,tractors probably being the subject of least importance . It is people like that that will make a lasting impression in your life which will benefit you and you can pass on to others. Great of you to recognize good when you see it. Take advantage of it and always let them know that their words were not wasted.

6 pointsI feel the same way about this and it's the best thing I came home with. Jay's brother, Guy asked if I would want his RS banner. ABSOLUTELY I replied! It will be displayed at my canopy every year I go and I'm very glad to have it !

6 pointsNICE So glad you caught @Jrblanke James and @Pullstart Kevin playing with the wheelie tractor. That was the only video I tried and then screwed it up! That was funny to watch those guys having a good time

6 pointsI never thought I would cry at the show, however seeing Phil’s tractor driving ever so slowly with his hat and ashes on the seat being held by his belt literally brought me to tears. What a moving and somber moment. Although I did not know Phil I do know people that did and they all said the same thing. He was one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. And so I say I hope he rests in peace and may God bless him 😢

6 pointsWe are not made of sugar, so ignore the rain. To meet peoples in person and have a good time wipes the few Raindrops away, The most i be happy when i be next year at the Show and see all ya guy‘s and ladies face to face. sadly i wasn‘t able to make it to the Big Show this year. Thanks for all the impressions. May the Lord protect all of you.

5 pointsVery nice and with a deck ! That model was made from 1980-1984. If you find the model number tag we can tell you it’s exact year.
-
5 pointsAnd how many trips to the Bumps and Bruises thread we’d take? It would be totally awesome @Jrblanke if we were neighbors!
-
5 pointsBill, I could tell your emotions were welling up inside of you, but you were strong and held it together very well. What an honor it was to give your friend a send off like you did. I did not know the man personally, but was in reverence to be there for his memorial service. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of it.
-
5 pointsIt was truly a heart tugging moment but an awesome memorial to have that honor done for your friend Phil. And don't worry about the pics Bill as the RS members have you covered. @Pullstart Kevin got a great video of it and you can see it already posted in this thread on Phil Bowling

5 pointsHave 3 projects going at the moment. First is trying to get the stairs done for the addition, second installing 51'' frost posts for an addition off of the 2 car garage and third relocating the fire pit. Rented the Excavator for 1 week because of the weather this year it has been tough to have anything go on schedule. It has been since the late 70's and early 80's that I have been in the seat of a backhoe. Operated a 580 case for a short time in the plumbing trade and felt good to get in a newer more comfortable machine. A bit of a learning curve but feeling more comfortable. My hat goes off to all equipment operators for their skills needed particularly when next to an open trench and working close to buildings. Kubota was delivered on Wednesday and finished this morning and will be picked up on Wednesday. Those 2 machines worked well together, what one didn't do the other did.

5 pointsAgree with Sylvan on tires and decking. Be sure whatever decking you use is"DRY" or will shrink and move after installed. Not sure a year is enough for milled lumber. Typically they recommend one year per inch of thickness to achieve 15% moisture. Those tires have a stronger sidewall and eliminate a lot of movement back and forth on trailer.

5 pointsI have 2x8 PT on my 5x8 trailer. Solid as a rock after 12 years... Goodyear Endurance Tires- very pleased.

5 pointsI am helping a friend sell his one owner 1978 C-121. He bought it brand new at a Wheel Horse display at the Canfield fairgrounds in Ohio in ‘78. He has taken immaculate care of it but needs to part with it due to health issues. I have personally seen and driven it and it runs beautifully. The whole package includes the tractor with original weights and chains, brand new muffler, mower deck only used once( the original rotted but he kept the hardware as pictured) and an extra engine he bought in hopes of making it into a 161. The extra engine is a K341 rebuilt by a UPS mechanic. He would like to sell the lot as a whole and is asking 1,350 or offer. If you are interested please contact me and I will send you the phone number. The tractor is currently is a storage condo on rt 18 in Sharon center,Ohio. Thanks for looking. The tractor has a new home and will be heading to Pennsylvania next week. Buyer and seller are both very happy I’ve been told.
-
5 pointsI was the Blessed one, she will be taken care of, going to festivals and parades. A nice one I won’t have to restore. Thanks to the team that did a Fabulous job. A nice add to my 52 tractor collection. I had no idea to win, just got out of the rain and decided to buy a few tickets that my Girlfriend filled out for me. (She is my lucky charm).

4 pointsVan, Thank You for the kind words. Phil only had his mother left for family, but she has really bad dementia and is in medical care. Phil was big part of his community, and this was shown by the all the people who traveled from Virginia to Pennsylvania to be at his memorial during the Wheel Horse Show which was his favorite show. His circle of friends in the mechanical world were every where.. Now I don't believe in ghosts, UFO's or the Loch Ness Monster but there was a sign that he was there and was happy. 4 pointsI dunno. That is one kinky machine. May be better to adapt to it instead of trying to make it adapt to you.
-
4 pointsGreat looking ride! That fuel tank strap in black looks awesome, adds some contrast. Not sure why (whole machine looks great) but that caught my eye.
-
4 pointsI use plastic corrugated split loom and zip tie-it to the frame where needed. Allows for flex and while moisture can get in, it can also get out. Since you are doing a full re-wire, I’m sure you’ll do wired grounds. You might consider wiring for backup lights, even if you won’t have them initially. You might also, since will have a fused, 12v circuit through the 7-pin connector, consider adding wiring for a 12v marine-grade socket like one of these either at the tongue or tail (or both)? Handy if you need to run an inflator or other 12v device. Standard socket Fancy socket with USB connections -
