Last night we went to a local pub to meet some friends whose son was entertaining the folks playing his string instruments. My buddy told me he had four quarts of oil in his truck for me. All unopened. This will look good displayed in the garage along with some hardware he gave me a while back which I posted back then.

Just picked up a 310-8 rear discharge with 201 hours. Tractor is in very good condition from the others I saw on FB Marketplace. Even the seat isn't cracked. Paid $600.00. I was initially looking for a larger tractor like a 520, but I came to my senses and realize that I always go bigger than I really need for my smaller yard. The only thing I needed to buy was a new air filter and PTO belt. I like the simplicity of a non-hydro drive and manual lift mower deck. I have owned Case-Ingersols in the past and currently have a Honda 5013 4x4 for snow blowing duties. The Wheel Horse did a great job of mowing on my first time using her.

If you got one add to it. You cannot tell time using an hour meter, only when it is time. My rarest tractor is the one that I have yet to acquire. Reverse is a gear too. The tractor doesn’t make the man, the man makes the tractor. Oil changes can be a slippery subject. Having slack in your belt doesn’t mean you lost weight. Having gas is a good thing. When in doubt, buy two. It really is toe in, not tow in. Brake bands should be silent. Never ask for permission, only forgiveness. (And look down at your shoes or flip flops, be humble until you make it to the shed) Share this hobby with a kid, it is very rewarding.

Throw the starting fluid in the trash quick, or that good compression will be washed away before you know it If the air cleaner is still off, place your palm over the opening and crank it over a few times until your hand gets wet. We need to verify the fuel is getting 100% through the carb.

Been a busy weekend as usual 'round these parts. Yesterday in between the electrician being here we started moving some rocks out of the space that need fixing and filling. All hand work so we could burn a calorie or 2. Today the Trina person and her Momma worked hard at cutting and splitting some firewood. I ran the chainsaw for a bit as well then switched over to hauling the wood out from by the garden up to the edge of the driveway where the woodshed is. Pulled 2 loads with the C160 Cinnamon Horse and Agri fab 17 cube trailer. Trina found some friends while out clearing the tall grass so we could work by the garden.

Done. More stuff to water. @ebinmaine. I made split pea soup last weekend. Everything but heavy cream from my garden. Well and the home smoked bacon. We have been picking tomatoes. Cool season stuff is done. Just good to be out there. Great stuff gentlemen.

Try removing the muffler. If the exhaust is clogged and making too much back pressure it will create havoc.

My wife's cousin worked for a while at a shop in CT that specialized in Ferraris. One customer was a local Doctor that was not pleased at all about the stumble while accellerating with the engine cold on a fall morning. They told the Doc that unfortunately, that was inherent to the beast. Unsatisfied with the answer he got, the Doc hand wrote a letter to Mr. Enzo Ferrari himself for advise. A few weeks later, a letter arrives from Mr. Ferrari. Enzo's reply was short and to the point. "Thank you for buying my car. Since you can afford a car like this, you probably can afford a heated garage for it"!!

This whole project makes me smile BIG - awesome! One thing it reinforces for me, is the value of being a pack rat. Imagine how much it would cost if you had to buy everything used to build this, rather than using stuff you had "laying around". "I might need that for something someday" is a very valid reason for keeping things, especially scrap metal, lumber, other building materials and old machines.

I have the same table and since I don’t own a motorcycle, I made a new wider top out of two sheets of 3/4”plywood. Furniture grade oak plywood was cheaper than CDX ! Then banded it with some Poplar, topped it off with an oil based paint and a decal from Terry! I still need to come up with a good ramp system to get on and off of it.

So I found this 701 back in the winter and the PO said it had been in his family as far back as he could remember. Was in a storage building for the last 15 years and he says it ran when parked. I am just now getting around to working on it and REALLY need some recommendations on how to best "preserve" it. Don't want to do a restoration, want to keep it as honest and original as it is. I did use Penetrol on the toolbox, seat stand and v bracket fender support since they had so much rust. Was amazed at how solid they were under the rust! I have done the oil rub down on the fenders (they really soaked it up) but not sure what is best route for the tins. Just the oil rub down, penetrol, others? I don't want to do anything to "ruin" the value of it in its current condition. Ideas from the purists?? I know we all love pictures so....

Since this is just for fun and we wanted to see Jacob beat his old man I didn’t start the weight box moving 'till he was half way down the track! Dan even hooked up Betty for a tug... Oh and Dan got 1st in the 3500 class....got his entry fee + 10 bucks back!

Mower deck blade drive belt on the 48" deck, decided to call it a day after the first cut round the green. Fortunately I'd got a couple in stock a while ago as I knew it wasn't going to last much longer. Finished the green, then did the lane verges and mowed SWMBOs dog walk down the bridleway. Later mowed the widows back field.

after starting it up with starter fluid, the carburetor seems to be the prime suspect. I can think of the following sources of error: 1. Leaky connection of the carburetor then it probably draws false air. 2. Incorrect jetting or incorrect jet needle setting - not enough fuel 3. Incorrect adjustment of the bowl needle, too little fuel 4. Fuel line clogged. 5. Dirt in the nozzles - carefully check with nozzle needles whether the nozzles are free. 6. Check linkage - as Ed suggests if everything fits, then it runs fine without the help of additional fuel. in Summer i just needed little choke for fireup. - not too much. I conform with Pullstart and CSeries Don. smack the ether-murks in the bin, that just forces extremely wear on your Piston and Cylindre. Use instead some petrol with a sprut of 2-stroke oil in it. edit by the way, as far as i knew the Kohlers work with adjustable timing on points. maybe the condenser is faulty, for a quick check, you can remove it for a testrun. If the test runs positive, you should exchange the condenser, otherwise your points will wear dramatically. If you have an dwell measure system you can verify the setup of the points very easily, but i doubt this will be your main problem. For me it sounds most to an Air intake leak. one advice on the side - i never run an Gasengine without any Airfilter. also that forces a quick wear on piston and cylindre especial in the envoirement where we use our Engines. end edit

I agree with @Pullstart Don’t use ether. I only use a spray bottle filled with gas and a little two stroke oil. I am also scratching my head as to why it won’t run? Also agree about holding your hand over the carb until your hand is wet, that will tell you that you have gas in the carburetor. I’d put a new plug in it as mentioned above. Hopefully others will have a solution, I’ll be following this.

First, be sure that you have sufficient brake lining to properly stop the tractor. Loosen or tighten the nut on the brake band rod until you can achieve full braking and still have the brake pedal in a comfortable position. The brake pedal position can be further adjusted by turning the rod in or out.

Is it a powerflow bagger, the kind that has a belt that runs off the mower deck pulley to an impeller or does it just go from the deck straight to the bags? Pictures will help. Welcome to Red Square! Stay here, the nicest people are here! I’m not sure where in Pennsylvania you are but if you’re anywhere near Gettysburg you should convince someone to give you a ride to the Big Wheel Horse show in two weeks. It’s really unbelievable!

@D_Mac On my K181 the gasket between the glass bowl and the housing had dried out and was no longer flexible. From a gasket material assortment I’d bought earlier on the jungle site, and using leather-working tools, I cut myself a new one from fuel-rated rubberized cork.

It has been a rough couple of weeks of back and forth with the insurance adjuster. In my concluding life as a remodeling contractor , I have had to deal with customers who wanted me to bounce my bids higher and return money to them . That is insurance fraud, and I wasn't playing that game then or now. This time i am the insurance claimant and i definitely have some observations as to how all parties play the game. .First of all, there is the storm chaser style of contractor salesman. He wants to sell quickly and does not care if you get the product You want. I had one of those at the start of the project.. He was super interested in knowing exactly what the insurance company was allowing and went off their bid as per square footage and what was stated by the so called itemized material and labor allowance the adjuster supplied.. I told him right up front that any agreement we came to would be heavy on the specs and light on the sizzle. The stuff he promised changed every time we spoke. He got my papers I showed him and took them out of the house without my knowledge. More on that later i looked at the spec sheet supplied by the insurance adjuster. told him that it did not make sense. The payment proposal never did list the areas to be covered, but he stated "the entire house". The only part that was itemized was the high and steep second story which I could decipher what they paid for and how much per unit of measure. None of that made any sense if the entire house was to be covered because the cost per square foot of the remainder was so much less. I got out my sketch pad and simplified twelve roof planes down to seven. i specified the cut up roof to twenty percent waste and the simple roof sections to fifteen percent cutting waste.i generated a detailed listing for each and every roof section with a detailed cost list. At first glance, the claims adjustment looked complete as per the common shingle coverage, but it was short specs on many labor items and very short o specialty items like shingle starter, edge flashing, Ice and water shield , simple flashing, step flashing, and on it goes. The insurance company stated that this stuff had to be spoken about and agreed to before work commenced.. I sent them a detailed report and it was quickly accepted. Increase was thirty percent with no argument. The storm chaser salesman got the adjuster to give him the revised estimate of which he had no right. i fired him right then and there and especially when he wanted to cut me in.. Felony fraud if i had let him. Here is what i have learned. First and foremost, You as a claimant must pay the contractor 100 percent of your deductible. Just do it, even if he offers some work around. Secondly, make sure you understand each and every component that goes into your roof. Modern installations require highly adhesive components to maintain roofing components under warranty. Quality roofing has mildew stabilizers and expensive cap shingles that are no longer cut from three tab parent shingles. Discuss with your contractor. how your lawn and property will be protected from the demo work and what happens and who pays if a shingle is dropped skimming the side of your house. Have your contractor bid the house without seeing the insurance paperwork. Note that it can be measured from outer space using a software service. one such service is called Eagle View. i was amazed at what i saw in the report. Be aware that any changes to your house can affect the report as mine was at least two years old as my white car shown in Eagle View has been gone that long.. Be aware that it does not cost very much more in the cost of the project to step up to a higher spec roof. Two or three hundred on an average size house gets you stuff like enhanced mold resistance, higher wind ratings, and even a superior nailing strip with more wind resistance.. We are not talking big box stores here, okay?. Some insurance companies will not want to replace the entire roof in any single section is intact. My state has laws protecting us against color mismatch but some companies will force the customer to get a special report and jump through hoops. it was no big deal to find Ohio laws relating to this by googling ohio law relating to roof replacement matching color and shingle style Finally, learn how to figure the area of a trapezoid and a paralellogram rectangle and triangle. i simplified everything by combining all these shapes into one and measuring the roof at the house foundation where possible. I combined eight roof planes into four that made it easy to calculate both perimeter and roof area. The much higher payout was worth it and now i will have an amazing roof .If I have any sense that my insurance slighted me, it would be the sin of omission, not commission. Easier to deal with once you enlighten them of their " mistakes" Oh, and after my very detailed report, the insurance company adjuster sent a seventeen page Eagle View sketch and also satellite pictures. Most of the dimensions were within three inches of what i had. One was off more than that because the software filled in an area that it could not see and it was to my favor..I take that report and pictures as evidence that it is time to be satisfied and happy with the final check which makes three payments in total. With all these negatives, I finally was referred to a dedicated roofing contractor who ordered his own satellite estimate and promptly came out to make notes of any extras that might not be seen from outer space. He has a roofing buggy that raises ,lowers, and dumps the old shingles into the dumpster. The other guys are hiring immigrant labor and that is a choice, but i honestly believe that my property will suffer less because no shingles are thrown down and gathered up by hand. The contractor states that he replaces one man and his workers are easy to keep as they are not so tired at the end of the day. We never discussed insurance companies, but just kept to the job at hand just as I wanted

In keeping with Pullstart Stables Pony Express expediting and logistics policies, all deliveries are to be devoid of rational point to point efficiencies and will, to the maximum extent possible, increase payloads in opposite intended directions, until capacity is exceeded. Then, and only then, will 's end up where they belong... In other words, get that Senior back where it belongs.
