10 pointsWhen you have a diamond in the rough but don't even know it... This 1055 has been sitting with a 100% rusted solid transaxle for what has to be 15 years... I dont even remember where it came from. I picked it up, put it in my junkyard pile and walked away. Recently I've learned it's somewhat of a rare bird and should be saved. Huh? Really??!!?? Ok... well today I dragged it out and behind it is a Commando 8 with a trans that shifts and rolls. Rest of Commando is missing or butchered so it is the "organ donor" to the 1055. I was going to try and get it together for the show but that's an impossible dream. Next year!!! Tony See you in 2 Fridays!!! Meant to say 1055 in video... ooops 20230608_125151.mp4

7 pointsI received a 10L manual knob ultrasonic cleaner today. Initial impressions are very good. I filled a large peanut butter jar with a Kohler carb in water with a little Pink Stuff Cleaner. Ratio maybe 10:1 ?? Dropped that in the cleaner. Filled around it with hot tap water. That was around 40⁰ C. I let it set for just a few minutes to bring the temp up more then set the machine for 30 minutes. When done the temp was 60⁰, 65⁰ or so. Here's two before and an after pic. I purposely did NO cleaning up on the carb just to see exactly what this cleaner could/could not do. Have to say. I'm impressed. I think after a good soak, a hotter bath, and maybe 2 more cycles this'll be pretty well spotless.

5 pointsWell got in the first mow in the woods with the C100. It did good and made the work so much easier than a push mower I would use. It doesn't look steep and hilly but it is when you're pushing a mower. This should be the go to rig for this job from now on. 42" SD deck. Also did a bit of root clearing with the Barco FSS Pulaski axe. Those are just handy if you've never used one. I use this one all the time. Needed to take out a few bulging roots to not ruin the deck or blades. All in all went well and came out looking like a courtyard! A couple before pics and after!

4 pointsI have three WH's for cultivating our large garden for the past 20+ years. This one has a stuck rear hitch pivot pin but is fine for the belly mount cultivator which allows me to get very close to plants. My soil is very rocky so I need spring tines which don't fit under the tractor. I also needed taller front tires so I added hubs and bolted on three rib tires on 12 inch rims. To get the middle of the paths I use rear cultivators on my other WH tractors.-FARMERIK in CT

4 pointsManaged to build the cat 0 3pt mod and the Finish Mower. Runs excellent but a bit of a ballast issue The hood opens as it should while using the bracket The front weight carrier has clearance Fairly level with a wee bit of incline to counter the weights The Finish Mower is nice and level The check chains doing their job nicely The bracket 5/16 plate steel, (formally a fifth wheel plate from the old Dodge) Was cut with my trusty heavy duty DeWalt jigsaw. Had to use 6 Bosch Carbide rated 1/8-3/8 blades then a Tig for "Penetrations'" The clearance should suffice, (would help if the weights would get here) Simplicity/Snapper Weight Carrier 169422 Lastly Simplicity/Snapper Suitcase Weights1692939 I certainly hope 100lbs will be enough! Very pricey!

4 pointsWhile visiting my granddaughter in Florida last week i had a small vessel stroke, also called a subcortical stroke. The numbness has subsided from my left side but it will be a while before I'm able to horse around. I will miss seeing everyone at the big show but will be watching on line.

3 pointsThe crack need to be welded up first then add a reinforcing plate welded in. Here is my Raider I added a reinforcing plate there is also a couple of strips behind so it's solid at the bolts.

3 pointsWe counted 121 into the chicken tractor. Started with 131, lost 3 in the first week. 1 got pecked to dirt nap. Lost 3 to a hawk, lost 3 to This is our view out the bedroom window.

3 pointsIf it fits the others it sounds like some new zerks may be in order. 4 or 5 years ago I cleaned all the grease from the front spindles and installed sealed bearings. I was just curious how long they would last but now I'm sold on them.

3 pointsM.E. Miller Tire https://www.millertire.com/ or you can just use latex eggshell black paint. Thin it by about 50%. Spray it or brush it on.

3 pointsGot the 2 floor boards modified, trimmed and mounted. The right side board was 2 inches wider than the left so had to make one out of 2 for the left side to keep it symmetrical and provide enough foot room. Cut down the belt (chain) guard a bit shorter and got that mounted. It didn't look right full length and also got to add another WH part on top of it with the old mower blade guard to cover one of the sprockets. AFTER BEFORE

2 pointsHi all , i have already posted a picture of the slot hitch i made for my c161 , but have had no luck sourcing a rock shaft kit for it . I knew of another c161 that happened to have a rockshaft kit and the owner was kind enough to let me borrow it so i could have a go at making my own . I now have all the parts i think i need to connect up my plough (plow) . I just need to identify exactly what make plough it is , then try to source some parts , or if all else fails make my own , the landslide is in a bad state rusted away . Will update if and when more progress is made !

2 pointsYou guys are amazing. So good to hear that this can be fixed. I have one small problem, I am recovering from open heart surgery so I have restrictions on how much I can do. This means that my grass won't get mowed until July. I'm thinking I'm going to buy a $300.00 or $400.00 anyrider to mow with while I work slowly ( I'm 79. everything goes slow!) on the tractors. I'm pretty handy, ex toolmaker, so I should be able to put this together. Thanks again guys Bob

2 pointsNot knowing your level of expertise, I’ll cautiously comment that it can be time consuming to swap all the component from a bad frame to a good one, but it isn’t especially difficult either. The only very clear warning I will offer is that the engine and, especially, the transaxle are HEAVY. So be prepared for proper support and muscle when working on these components or you’ll be posting to the “bumps and bruises” thread.

2 pointsKevin my friend. Excellent work. Excellent idea. Excellent execution of the idea. "Use what ya have". Well done 👍👍👍.

2 pointsI didn’t know anything about this until a couple years ago. Wondered why an A/C tech said it was fixed but he wouldn’t be putting the charge back in for a few hours. He replied that in their shop the minimum vacuum time for a car is 4 hours plus 30 minutes to watch the gauge for change. He said a larger home system could be more, depending on the power of the vacuum pump. The things you learn by asking the right person and listening carefully to the answers.

2 pointsIn keeping with Pullstart Stables Pony Express expediting and logistics policies, all deliveries are to be devoid of rational point to point efficiencies and will, to the maximum extent possible, increase payloads in opposite intended directions, until capacity is exceeded. Then, and only then, will 's end up where they belong... In other words, get that Senior back where it belongs.

2 pointsI have noticed that it became stiff, but it doesn't leak. I may have to change them once I change the filter, but my tractors don't get that many hours on them over a season because I have so many. Each has it own job. I change gas filters like I change hydro filters, about every 100 hours.
-
2 pointsWhy do you say that Mike? I've had it on a couple of my tractors for better than 2 years with no problems.
-
2 pointsOver the past 30 years I've cut with the 36" SD and RD, both the 42" SD and RD and the 48". Of all of them I think the 36" RD has the best cut. Once you adjust it properly it you may not have to readjust it for years unless you hit something hard . Before buying my Z turn it was my go to grass cutter. Yes it takes longer than the 42's and 48's but that's just more ride time, every now and then I still cut with it when I need some "me time".

2 pointsNo clamps??? I see seepage in your future...and maybe a fire on hot items....you may want to add at least spring clamps.... Just a suggestion.... john

2 pointsI agree with Bob that sealed bearings - specially if you have an early tractor with bushings, is the way to go. Much cleaner. Those fittings use a standard 1/4-28 thread and are easy to change. Years ago, I had replaced both U-joints on one of my RWD vehicles. I used the HD style, with the fatter center cross and a grease fitting. I too could not get a grease gun coupler in there. The solution was a short pipe adapter with a zerk fitting on one end and a ground down tapered coupler on the other. Had to rotate the driveshaft to find the fitting, but it worked fine.... Bill

2 pointsI'll give ya that .... but I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner ordered big enough to put a whole tractor in...
-
2 pointsThat is a big part of the show. Walking through the sale areas and finding stuff, a lot of times at bargain prices, is like a egg hunt for tractor parts. And of course looking at some of those amazing restorations is another of my favorites. And chewing the fat. And watching the kids driving the wheels off of old tractors. And stopping at the concession stand. And, and, and it is all pretty good.

2 pointsUpdate: Got the tractor tore down almost completely but didn't take any pictures. Been busy with work, National guard and my basement flooding. I have my annual training next week but will update with lots of pictures when I get back. Going to be prepping everything for sand blasting.

2 pointsYou know I am starting to hate wheel horses. Why,, I waited and looked for a Bolens DGT1700 diesel and finally got one. Low hours hydro plow all new tires etc.. My plans were to have this and a really good 520 for my tractors but now I am thinking that maybe the best thing would be 2 520's instead. One as a dedicated winter only machine with the blower and cab that that I can customize as I want. Saw a video where the guy rigged one out to the 9th, and then another 520 as my rest of the year tractor. grrr

1 pointThey lasted 2 years on my mowing tractor. 1 failed. Took the rest apart and packed them. Took a new one apart and there wasn't a lot of grease in there either. So packed that one too
