First time today using the blade on my GT-14. That thing is a beast No weights or chains and it moved dirt and the tires didn't even spin much We dug a trench for a new water line and I pushed the dirt back into the hole with it. Love the hydraulic lift

I thought I had my addiction under control. I picked this 857 up at a garage sale for 300 he was asking 500. Came with a extra mower deck and a snow blade purrs like a kitten hope I didn't pay to much.

Ok so I had the ambition today and felt good so I decided to pull the RJ 58 off the shelf, clean her up and service it and the 520-8. Going down light this year. Have not been feeling great with my arthritis so that is why I am taking an electric start model as my rider👍

How about some G"round Grid" several choices on Amazon. You work in the building material sector, i bet some of the supplies around there have it.

I used to have water coming in the garage when we would have a heavy or light rain… pad right off garage should have a little more slope away… So I cut the concrete driveway right off the garage door, installed a drain channel, built a catch basin under a downspout which was a source of a good amount of water coming off the house right near that garage corner. From there I went to another two catch basins to collect water coming toward the garage from across the yard. From there I installed drain channel across the front of the pad because water comes down the driveway (knowing that someday I would replace the gravel driveway with concrete). Then across the yard with a clean out at the bend… then to an outfall in the lower part of the yard well away from the house… This was not an erosion issue, but if you are in the mood for some hard labor, just an idea… BTW… all pipe is 4 inch PVC with no holes… easily stays clean on its own. I need to go ahead and screw down those drain channel grates with the recommended No. 8x1 stainless steel screws, as the grates are slotted and doesn’t allow anything in that would cause a clog…

I nearly forgot, but i promised a Video of the Cut with my reworked disc mower... Here you can see the mower Work at high Grass (or better what i defined as high grass) For me - it was a success ! The middle section is where i made this Video. Few minor issues found. 1. The Belt to the Jackshaft is about 1,5in too large, so the clutch spring was little to weak and does not work correctly it needs a little support with right foot. this will be changed, but i tried it out with what i have on hands. 2. The Main belt will be changed from 10x960 to 13x975 to bring more power to the Mower. - same reason as point 1. 3. think i will change to other blades, they be original with it be too thick for my opinion. They hack more instead of they cut. the cut - or better hack - is not as nice as i hoped. So i will have another blades build by myself. Task pending. 4. in sharp curves i must release the mower a little with the lift lever, otherwise i ride just straight away, but i can life with that. One huge advance.. moleholes be no more a fear for the blades... they be flaten out whilst mowing - what is really funny... but at all - it works like a champ.. 2HA. mowed today at all with only one Beltset on high grass.

Thank you @SylvanLakeWH ! I don’t think I’m what you would call a perfectionist, but I do put well enough effort into a project so that it looks good, works well, and I’m not ashamed to say I did it. 😆

I had five of the Six RJs out my brother and I own. I just gave David the RJ I had been working on off and on for two years. My neighbor John Bossnack (Hoosier Wi-Fi Guy). Did a couple drone videos that are cool to watch.

The "T" is there...857. You have an 8 horse Kohler "8", electric start "5"...1967.."7". You have one of the best that was ever made.

The B-80 kinda quit midway thru a lawn mowing last Sunday. Pulled the carb today thinking a full rebuild but instead found “black grit” or something like it in the bowl. Quite a bit to be exact! Other wise the carb was spotless. Cleaned all that out and sprayed down the whole thing and put her back to gather with a new fuel filter and mowed for over 30 minutes without a hiccup. Will be buying new fuel line for it this week since that black grit might be fuel line bits. Wish I snapped a pic of the stuff in the carb…dang it!

You are going to have to do some serious planing and work. Water needs to be caught at source point and channeled properly to an exit point where it will do no damage. Properties on a slope are always a challenge and I am proof of it. Attached are photos of an area that I had similar issues with. It’s not as large as yours but the problem was severe. Made large gullets with perforated pipe and stone on sides of walkway. Introduced a drain in front of shed and an underground tank to the right of it. All water goes into that tank and then to the very back of property where. It is slowed and dispersed into a wide area. There are still a couple of areas that are not too bad but will get a similar treatment. Water from 2000 square feet of pavers ran down furiously into winding path excavating everything on the sides and even destroying path. Reinforced pavers edges with a reinforced concrete bulkhead underground. Made large gullets on sides with stone and large perforated pipe. Added drain in front of shed. All piping and drain are connected together and go into a tank on right side of shed. In turn all of that water is channeled to back of property. no more erosion or muddy areas.

@peter lena my mind read “a Vaseline service”. @moe1965 sweet ride! I might see an 857 in Pullstart Stables’ future as well, but not for me….

I tried stone, crusher waste, and hundreds of gallons of old oil on my sloped road and it continued to wash out. Then I covered it with black top millings. No more wash outs.

@oliver2-44 This is my family’s cable operated Caterpillar D-7, and the Bucyrus-Erie dragline that I grew up on. Probably since around the age of 3! I remember they would tie me in the seat of the dozer with a rope so I couldn’t fall out. Also remember that at the time the seat seemed as big as a couch! It actually is about three feet wide though! Riding on the crane was a bit of a scary experience as a child because of the engine noise and all the gears and winches turning. Especially when the operator would cast the bucket out into the water, watching the cable spool out at a high rate of speed. My seat consisted of two wire milk crates held together with wire, and on top was a square boat cushion. I sat behind the operator looking over his shoulders. If OSHA could have seen that! I’m so happy that I got to experience this as a child. They let me start running a Cat 941 track loader around age 14-15 (in places where I couldn’t hit anything!) Almost 40 years later I’m still at it! Thanks for reading my little story.

Put an extension on the C105 exhaust and quieted it down a lot... Should mention - no drilling. One existing factory hole in floor board. Lines up perfectly... very solid.

No "Getting Ready For The WHCC Show" pictures to post this morning, but I'm making a list of things to buy from Dale. I try to pick up all the maintenance things from him, and stuff to have in stock like fuel tank caps with the gauge, and ignition switches, and starter relays, and battery cables. Dale is a good guy, and I like doing business with him. I'm looking forward to seeing all the Red Square gang there.

Bringing these four. I think I accidentally put crappy gas in the LSE. All of a sudden it only runs on choke, may have to flush the tank and line then take the carb off and clean it. First I’m going to dump the gas, clean the line and then try fresh gas and some Seafoam. I really don’t want to take the carb off because this tractor has never seen a wrench other than to change the oil.

We will be doing the white letters shortly. There are a couple small odds and ends to tie up but his goal was met. To get to the show last weekend.

Yes the carbs are made in Asia. Taiwan I believe. But I can tell you, without a doubt, they are NOT the same krap as those cheap chinese carbs on ebay. Believe me, I didn't want to pay more either but now I swear by them if there's one with a problem that can't be rebuilt. Excellent replacement carbs. Now that you have been through all of this wasted time and aggravation plus a few bucks, wouldn't $70 from the beginning be worth it?

Here is is guys the raider is mostly finished. Few things to tidy up here and there. Few things I don’t like that I will revisit. This rebuild was something guys I’m not going to lie. Learned a lot about this tractor. Completely went through and rebuilt the six speed was a journey on its own. Couldn’t have done it without you guys on this forum. The tractor has been in my family since the mid to late 70s and I don’t plan on it going anywhere anytime soon. Keep a look out next tractor on my list was also my grandpas. The 953. Per usual it needs a lot but it’s next and deserves it’s refresh. Thanks again guys it means more than you will ever know

Dan says stick a fork in me it's done. I'll not share any pics that's his job. But I will run over tomorrow to do some eyeballing & drooling & perhaps a little seat time! Thing looks freaking awesome you guys are gonna wet yer knickers. Orginal yet semi custom. Says he might have glamor shots tomorrow...or make you suffer and wait couple days... I can hear him sayin @953 nut no more restos on this model! Sure is a long row to hoe...

Even with a flat tire (right off the bead) I can push it well. Not easy, but well. The frame stays quite square with the 45 degree lateral braces. Now, I need to figure out my drive system. I am contemplating tossing a whole frame and 3 speed up on the front axle and running with it. I’m sure I’d excite @SylvanLakeWH by utilizing a Horse!

My B-80 has a similar one, very quiet 🤫 setup when it mated to a little Kohler 8.

Stacks look cool and all, but they can kinda hit you in the face with exhaust fumes more often than the low down factory setup. The factory exhaust for yours would look like this one my C-105.

When I replaced the seat on Clyde, I gave the seat adjuster a shot of Marvel Mystery Oil to free them up and was planning on coming back with a wire brush and paint. The next day, I saw that the MMO had soaked all of the rusty surfaces on the slides. They now had an oiled oxide patina type finish on them. No way was I going to get paint to stick to that, so they got assembled that way.

This one catches all the water from the steep driveway. It has also the front gutters piped into it. It then goes into another tank and it then goes underground into stream. Soon it’s going to have a large sump pump built into it to speed up draining from drive way rather than just relying on gravity. It is sufficient now but it does fill up on a heavy downpour. If it does overflow , driveway around it is canted to the right side putting all excess water to the back . Of course when stream across street blows up then nothing works. It has only happened 3 times in about 40 years but it was no fun. We are fully aware here of the power of water. I am constantly making improvements as far as drainage goes all around property. driveway and front gutters drain driveway is steep in case of drain filling excess water drains to right side of house water then flows to back where it is channeled by next system.

Ha. That's exactly what I do and same scenario. One guy used to bring his own DeWalt drill and always treated it like it was a newborn baby. Then all the while has absolutely no problem with leaving company tools out in the rain, dropping them off the ladder, using drills for hammers etc etc or forgetting to pack them up and leaving them there. I had a broken drill just like his model and covertly hid his and took mine out after seeing tools in the rain again. Then proceeded to use it for a hammer and destroyed it right in front of him. "Oh the humanity" of hurting what he thought was his little drill. He couldn't tell it was a different drill because of all the damage to it. His whining got so bad so instead of just telling him right away, I let him sweat it out for a while until he finally found out on his own. He also got about a mm away from being fired over it too. But at least he got the point and now treats company stuff better! I've been kicking around the idea of making them buy and use their own tools just because they have 0 respect for mine. Thing is our work can naturally be hard on tools so adding that extra expense to them probably isn't right ( although many companies do it that way). Maybe instead of cash Christmas bonuses, new tools to use for work from now on. IDK

@moe1965 think you did well , extra deck and plow blade set up ! , do a baseline service , lubricant drain / flush refill , total grease verifatition , take advantage of what works , and touch up any issues . might even suggest , a oil lubrication rub down , to feed and patina save that paint , would do that first , so the paint can be sucking in the oil to help itself . would do every painted sarface . just an opportunity , oil spray down any related cables to get the rust / crud out , movement check as you go .pete

@SylvanLakeWH was that exhaust extension in addition to the under hood muffler, or a replacement for it?

Do you have a pipe or culvert going under your driveway? I would think the main supply of the torrent is coming down the road with some crossing over the right side of the street right before your driveway (according to your video) I thought the water was water that fell on your land… seems like it is invading water that is causing more problems than the large amount coming off of the barn…

@ebinmaine showing you where it wants to go , a number of run off spots could easily be enhanced with , slight flat blade enhancement . think thats your main issue , think your first picture says it all , enhance the drainage side slightly , also enhance the starting point for directional flow . would not count on this change in one , try BUT LOOK AT RESULTS TO CHANGE . had a much smaller deal from neighbors land . just started , grading / diverting water flow to his side of drive , every time it rained , looked at results . really did not take much to make that go away . this will not be a one and done deal , BTW neighbor never saw / said anything , sneaky , pete

Congratulations Terry. I have been retired 23 years now. It has gone so fast I have to concentrate real hard to remember what I have done all the time. We did spend our 50th wedding anniversary at the big show. Certainly involved with horses all this time and still am. I feed them a little gas and play when I want. Marv

I have been kind of waiting for this question. I sprayed the inside of the tool box with bed liner. I figured that I would more apt to use it if I did not have to be afraid of scratching it up.

@JCM Love seeing this old Brutus Erie cable drag line. I grew up with a small company mining flint rock wash gravel on part of our farm, then part of the neighbors. The old operator let me try to operate it several times. Too many pedals and levers. They had a heck of a welder/mechanic that kept things running. I recall the "turn table" on the dragline and center pin was wore out, so he jacked up the machine and welded it up and machined it with a hand grinder. When they went to an auction to buy "new" equipment, they took the winch truck so they could drag it home That old cable dragline is still being used today at another pit location.

Buffed the paint on dads old 312-8 and greased all fittings, checked trans fluid. Its a 1992 and dad never washed it because he said it would rust😂

No I didn't Steve. I think it would have been better going Saturday but I can't make it tomorrow. I did talk to a guy who remembered me from the Speedo auction a while back. They had about a dozen new repop round hood seat backs to auction off and I was trying to talk Speedo's granddaughter into auctioning just one of them The way the auctioneer handled I just said screw it. The last time I went to Mentone was when you and I went. It's so much bigger now. Certainly not the Big Show but still cool. Next year I'll make sure is on here more so maybe some of the members will go.

IF the engine is indeed mounted with nuts and bolts, I can see where Nylok nuts, once removed and reinstalled WILL loose their retention ability with the added "Help" from engine heat and vibration.... How about using steel distorted body nuts - a true total PITA if you have to wind them down about 10 threads - BUT they work....
