7 pointsDad let me skip school on Friday so I could wash all the tractors and finish my 604.After we were done getting ready we loaded up and slept Friday night in Bernardston for the gas engine show today. A bunch of people liked it and asked questions. I appreciate all the help and words of encouragement from you guys.

5 pointsI just got done mowing three to four foot tall grass with my 520-HC. I'm really impressed how it cut right through and the governor hardly kicked in
-
5 pointsThe electric start just came in from Chenna so I put the ring gear on stator assembly and starter in modified diesel. Also put the lights back in the hood finally maybe I'll find lenses for the 953 front at the show for a decent deal and I'll put that front back on!

5 pointsYesterday i picked up some 30 weight and the young man at the counter ask if it was for my tractor. He told me he was working on his 25 hour break in period. I told him my tractor is 40 years old. He was surprised.

5 pointsMy neighbor was discussing lawn tractors with his co workers a while back. They were preaching the merrit of those green tractors. He then told them about my 1973 Wheel Horse and how it has been doing it's job pretty much trouble free for multiple decades. He says the subject drifted to other topics at that point.

5 points@WheelHorse_Kid Beautiful job on the 604. It only needs 1 thing. White letters on the hood to match the wheels. This is me on our 604 around 1968 I was about 9. You can see the original paint. (And the replacement Tecky! )

5 pointsPicked up another round hood for my ever growing collection. this one appears to be a 654

5 pointsIt was nice to see you guys and thanks for the tractor. I had a fun time hanging out all day.

5 pointsI got around to waking Clyde, the C-195 up today from his long winter nap. Had to put him on the battery charger for a bit before I got a reasonable crank. But still, with fuel pump on, choke on, lots of crank, but no fire. I decided that a shot of carb cleaner was needed. Carb cleaner in the garage. When returning to Clyde with the carb cleaner, I happened to remember that he does not like to start without the fuel tank valve closed. Yup, I had not opened it. Rather than starting into a detailed troubleshooting sequence, I opened the gas tank valve. Bingo! Clyde started right up. Drove him around the yard for a bit. No new issues. I took a picture of him idling in the back yard. Note the new seat. A TSC clearance shelf find - $40 off. Looks close to stock as well.

4 pointsAdded a few more pieces over the last couple of days. Yesterday I installed the hydraulics and got them plumbed. Hitches installed on the rear end. Today I was able to show more progress. Front end completed, engine bolted down, clutch & brake system installed. I also cut the pads out for the foot boards.

4 pointsWhy don't you remove the starter and see if you can fix it? Might be easier to fix or replace the starter than to retrofit an entire engine.

4 pointsWoke Clyde, the C-195, up today from his long winter nap. Note the new seat. Got it off of the clearance shelf at the local TSC store - $40 off. Found this guy on display at the local Springfest car show this afternoon.

4 pointsPerfect weather and a great time! Rode up with Tony @Docwheelhorse .. met-up with John @wallfish & Gary @Retired Wrencher. Talked with @wheelhorsekid and his dad Matt @WHGuy413. Matt’s son bought an 876 (hydro short frame) that Tony brought up! Saw Wayne @Crazywheelhorseman but we didn’t end up chatting . Yes I bought a raffle ticket for that Farmall Cub . Oh and I sold the JD trailer 15 minutes after we arrived!! Cruised the grounds first, then grabbed breakfast. Ate right on the hood of my machine like a savage! Well a savage with a fork and knife . Then wandered the flea market section.. bought some metric 1/2” drive sockets. John sponsored a portable outhouse so we all made sure to treat it right !! All in a great day

3 pointsChanged the oil and greased the chassis with my new cordless grease gun. I know a little overkill for 6 grease points, but $30 off, and I don't think I'll ever go back to hand pumping grease. Also took the 42" SD deck off and installed the 42" RD after adding a rear grass deflector. It's been so dry here that the only grass that needs cutting is around the garden where I've been running the sprinkler, and the 42" RD is perfect for that.

3 points48" side discharge standard issue for 1988 520-HC. Just put a NOS PTO belt and PTO clutch on it. I only heard a little belt squeal once or twice. Could have been deck belt squeal. I never investigated it.

3 pointsI don't know if it has anything to do with it, but during my fasting period,(started May 17) I was awakened at night with an AFib event two times. Mine is called paroxysmal AFib, meaning that it is not constant, but comes and goes at random, and rarely lasts more than 7 days. Mine has never lasted more than 10 hours, but it is scary none the less. Going to my cardiologist on Tuesday and I will discuss the fasting issue with him. But in the meantime, I have stopped the fasting routine, added more walking, and am keeping the calories under 2000 per day. Not much progress. Weight keeps going up and down. Friday morning I was 229.7. Todays weigh-in 230.6

3 pointsTrina's creation there. She put a fair amount of thought into making look like it dates from the 60s and is military appropriate. That rig gets a LOT of attention at shows. More than one person has wondered if it was real.
-
3 pointsNo complaints on the fuel bowl from me. I enjoy looking at it. They are not the only thing that gets a little leaky with age, but us guys have to love em' anyway.

3 pointsNo Wheel Horse stuff today. First thing today was to go have new tires put on the trailer that James and I will be towing to the Big Show next month. Next was to help install a new one piece trunk pan in my friend Lee's 1964 Ford Galaxie convertible. Our goal is to have it back on the road by September. We had to drill out all the spot welds to remove the tail pan to install the trunk pan in one piece. One extra body part to remove, but thats the right way to do it.

3 pointsIs this a “tight-shot”? It’s my breakfast this morning that I ate off the hood of my tractor at a show … needed a sturdy flat surface
-
3 pointsGreat time. Glad we all got to catch up. We finally made it home and unloaded everything. We will put it away tomorrow before I head to work. Someone had to call in reinforcements to get his new purchase home.

2 pointsThe ones that have additional bits stored in handle are the push drills and not the Yankee screwdrivers. Screwdrivers will either hear a spring or not. I use one without the spring for certain functions. These are the tips available for the screwdrivers making them able to be used with any type screw. They come in two different sizes since Yankee drivers have two different size tips.

2 pointsIt will take far less time to troubleshoot and correct the problr=em than to swap an engine. Why won’t my starter turn over from the key switch?\ Lets take a logical step by step inspection of your starter problem. Is your PTO in the ON position, a wheel horse will not start with the PTO on. Have you had the battery load tested at an auto parts store? Have you cleaned and tightened all electrical connections including grounds? Are all fuses good and fuse holders cleaned? If these have all been done, we can check components of the starting system as follows; don’t skip a step or you may miss the problem. Be sure the transmission is in neutral and the parking brake is set. Take a pair of automotive jumper cables and connect the black cable to your battery "-" and a good clean spot on the engine. Now connect the other cable to the large post on the starter and touch the other end to the battery "+" terminal, does the starter turn over? If the starter turns over the battery and starter are good. If it didn't turn over try the same steps with the battery in your car/truck, if that cures the problem then the "good" battery wasn't so good. Presuming the starter turned over move the jumper wire from the starter post to the other end of the wire going to the starter which is one of the large posts on the solenoid. If the starter turns over when the battery is touched by the jumper as before then that cable is good, if not you have found your problem. Presuming the starter turned over move that jumper to the other terminal of the solenoid, connect the other end to the battery and use a small piece of wire to temporarily connect the battery "+" terminal to the small terminal on the solenoid, this should cause the solenoid to close and the starter to turn over. If not, the solenoid is probably the problem. If this was successful remove the large jumper cable and use the small jumper wire to the small terminal of the solenoid, the solenoid should close and the starter turn over. If not the cable to the battery is the problem. Presuming all of these have been successful remove the black jumper wire and repeat the small jumper to small terminal, if the starter turns over the ground is good. If all of these components test good then remove your ignition switch, be sure the transmission is in neutral, parking brake on, clutch depressed and PTO off. Use a small jumper to connect the terminals that were connected to the “B” and “S” terminals of the ignition switch. If the starter turns over then the PTO switch and other safety switches are operating properly and your ignition switch may be bad

2 pointsInteresting that you'd put pics of 3 of my favorites by brand or series. Wheelhorses obviously. Allis Chalmers Model G. The Cub is a representative of the color size and model of the second one my grampa had. Good post.

2 pointsif you look in the upper right hand corner, you'll see that my 953 will be running a sediment bulb too. Just like it would have had from the factory.

2 pointsLooks good. September is when the convertibles around here get put away for the winter.

2 pointsSheridan, Michigan is running their annual Springfest this weekend. I stopped by this afternoon to wander the car show. Lots of nice cars, but nothing really unusual. Anyhow, the tractor and motorcycle shows were combined with the car show this year. Found a few interesting tractors.

2 pointsThere is a 20 amp fuse protecting the ignition switch. Download the 7 page file - one diagram for each major circuit.
