18 pointsHad this delivered yesterday. Local Amish built 24x12. Construction seems to be adequate & price ...69 frankies delivered... was reasonable. I priced out materials @ 6500. Floor is all treated and sets on massive full length 6x6 skids. All steel siding, trim & roof. The siding is the new fangled steel with the texture. Was supposed to have clear ridge cap for lighting but got boned on that. On the fence if I should make them change it. Will be running a wire out to it for a couple of lights & outlets anyway. The idea is for SWMBO to keep her bin collection out ther so more room in the big warehouse for tractors... When I mentioned some outlets for keeping tractor batteries charged I didn't get the look...

12 pointsAnnual Easter cruise with some of my nieces & nephews. This year I used my new to me 633 that I got in trade from @Chrishar. Believe it or not, this was actually the very first time that I have driven this tractor. Very happy with the tractor so far. Sure is set up with one heck of a road gear.

12 pointsI’ve been wanting to add a John Deere D to my tractor collection for quite a few years now, and since this is the 100 year anniversary of the D and we are also featuring the D at our show in September I figured what better time to do it than now. Found this tractor up in central Kansas on Facebook Marketplace the first part of the week. Called the seller and he was willing to hold it for me until today, and then called me back and offered to meet me halfway this morning. Needless to say I didn’t sleep much the past few nights getting antsy to make the trip this morning. We left the house about 8 this morning and got home with the tractor about 330 or so this afternoon. Got a few little things that need some attention but overall the tractor runs and drives quite well. I had found another one that was a little bit closer to home and a bit nicer, but opted for this one because of the electric start option. With my shoulder still being boogered up from my wreck years ago not real sure if I was up to hand starting 501 cubic inches of tractor

8 pointsWas it delivered in whole? Looks great. If you contracted for a clear ridge, I'd insist on it. Until you get some lights, you need a little sunshine. Tell the wife that she will get whatever space is left after you return from the big show this year.

7 pointsDay and week 4 of my IH 656 project. A few trials & tribulations today. The POS engine lift failed & every thing went flopping over on to the ground. Luckily it was not very high off the ground and there was only minor scraps on the engine. Used a skid loader to put every thing right again. After the engine was bolted to the transmission, getting the front end lined up was also a fun job. Despite the set backs, I managed to get the ol' girl back on all 4's. A few odds and ends left before I can turn the key. Wife says "no garage on Easter" so I guess it will be on to day & week 5 next weekend.

6 pointsNice dog house! Use rigid PVC conduit if you are going to bury a wire. It can go aerial if it's close enough but u/g is better. Shouldn't be too difficult to cut in a couple/few small windows but a light switch should do the same thing.
-
6 pointsIs the clear ridge a plastic of sorts? They probably don’t have near the warranty on plastic vs. steel. to leave it alone. Nice shack Uncle Jim!

6 pointsA garden hose wouldn't protect the wire very well, especially if it were to be dug into accidentally.. Plus I don't know of any fittings to go from a hose to PVC Proper way to do it would be lay PVC in a trench and suck a pull string through with a shop vac, then pull the wire.. Or just fish tape it depending on the length of the run.

6 pointsThinned the herd out a bit by selling one of the C125's with its rotovator. Really sad to see it go, but need the room and a few less projects. Took it up to work for onward delivery further north in Scotland. That said....I just brought an older C something with implements. Pictures and details soon.

6 pointsI'm sitting here before going to church to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I'm reflecting on our lives and this country that my son fought for. The richest man that lived in Jesus' day could of only dreamed of what we take for granted today. Electricity, refrigeration, running water, cell phones, computers, flushing toilets, as simple as our Wheel Horses are, that would be a to them what the space shuttle is to us. After church we are going to our daughter's house for lunch and spend time with our grandbabies and my mom, the only parent we have left. Whether we believe that Jesus was the son of God or not, we need to take time to spend with those who love us because time on this planet is short.

4 pointsThanks fellas. It's fixed. I did both things Pull Start said. When I went to pull the plug, the little tip that screws on to the end of the spark plug was almost ready to fall off. So I'm a moron, it was most likely an ignition problem because that tip was so loose. Runs like a dream again. Thanks. owe you guys a beer.
-
4 pointsThanks guys ... the ridge light was a no charge option so I didn't pay for it. I think I'm gonna leave it. Might p off the Amish that would be worse than p off the Pope today. I don't know how they build them so cheap. At 6500 in materials & 250 cut for the delivery guy. That leaves little for them to buy beer with. Cash is king with them too. The big warehouse is just 30 ft away with a outlet right there I can tie into. Will direct bury some 12- 2 uf cable.

4 pointsQuick fix? Try removing the air filter housing. Place your palm directly over the carb. Roll the engine over a few times. Clean the plug and giver’ a try. The engine vacuum may be able to pull the debris through.
-
4 points@WHX?? very nice unit , and great pricing compared to my area , would consider using 1" water hose to contain / protect that wiring , use a light cord as a runner , then a shop vac to pull the wire drag lead to the end , makes a wire pull easy , pete

4 pointsI actually just changed the transmission oil in my 520HC after replacing the O rings on the hoses and control valve. 953Nut is absolutely correct. If you add your fluid after pulling the old filter but before installing the new one then that leaves a tube from the filter housing to the transmission open. That will work as an air vent. You can then use a snug fitting funnel in the transmission vent tube and the oil will flow in fairly well and should not burp. I put in 4L and that brought it up close to the full mark on the dipstick after running the tractor ahead and back and cycling the hydraulics up and down a few times. I had the hydraulic hoses and valve apart so they were also drained. You may need slightly less oil with just an oil change.

4 pointsWheelhorse parts n more has em. Your local parts store will be able to get them as well. I buy in bulk and keep a few in stock. You'll want to replace all 4 transmission seals and the shifter boot. The brake band should really be replaced but I've cleaned them with brake cleaner. Your biggest issue will be removing the hubs. DO NOT use a 3 jaw puller on them. There's a few great pics of proper hub puller setups on this site. Show up at Zagray CT next month with that transmission and I'll pull the hubs and change the seals for your boy.

4 pointsOnly time those words oughtta be together is in a sentence more like Wife says "no garage here so you should build one immediately" Or Wife says "no garage is big enough so you should build another one"

3 pointsWell I picked up a 520 with 640hrs as a non runner and upon putting a battery in it and cranking it it was obvious it didn't have compression on one cylinder. So I went straight to thinking a typical valve seat.... WRONG rear cylinder had compression so I checked the front cylinder and found that it was at fault. No movement from the piston at all so follow along for the rebuild. Unfortunately Cummins/onan has discontinued the connecting rods for the 18-20hp onans but still produce the 16hp rods which is beyond me why but probably not enough market anymore for them. But first let's get this boat anchor out!
-
3 pointsPut it in a 1 inch gray conduit and drop a 1/2 inch spare in the hole too. 10 years from now the robot turning your wrenches may need more power and a hardwired internet connection. Don't tell HER I said anything, but it's not a bad idea to move the loud compressor into the she shed

3 pointsI spent some time in the outdoor workshop getting chainsaws ready. My Stihl MS180C threw the chain last fall when it got pinched in a tree. Happens. The internal teeth had a few small dings that were causing it to fetch up a bit as it passed through the drive gear. Filed them down and put the little bugger to cuttin'. Works fine but needs a tuneup. I used that saw and my Echo 33cc for one tank of gas, each. I laid down quite a few small trees brush etc and a few medium sized ones. All this is being done to help the sunlight for the garden and also to clear the area where the gray portable garage will be. Trina and her Momma worked on building a greenhouse out of the frame of the old tan portable garage. They removed a section so it's 15 or 16 ft long now. The plan is to use onsite materials to build up table-benchy things in there. She added a row of rocks on each side to hold the whole thing down. In other news, our acreage is starting to wake up for spring. We have a pair of snakes hanging around with each other. Also, the frog pond I've been wanting most of my life is beginning to show signs of new life. We have at least one tadpole and the frogs are singing.

3 pointsThat will go over real well. Jim would have to walk home and then find a cot in that shed when he finally made it back!
-
3 pointsNice shack Jim!! I don't think that I would worry too much about the clear ridge cap. If you're going into it for somethin' there is a real good chance that you will have the door open any way. Could always bury a line out to it for a light & an outlet or 2.

3 pointsNice. That is a later one, what is the serial number and is it registered with the Two Cylinder club? The D holds the record with John Deere for being in production the longest, around 1923 to the early 50s. Here is the video from a few months ago with a plow day featuring about 40 D's.

3 pointsBlew off the honey do list and some other stuff to spend a good part of the day working on this. Added some bracing all around the inside of the tower to beef it up some and connected the tower to the other steering tower. Working some on a tank mount and a location Worked a little on a dash Made / modified a chain guard and a rear fender out of a seat pan. Looked better in my head so not sure yet if these will stay, get modified or get something else. IDK. The fender looks to boxie looking but it does look WH tractorie. Here's the fender reversed

3 pointsOff with the snowblower (that wasn't used at all this year due to such a mild winter), on with the mower deck! Already mowed the front yard. I put the reduction steering on in the fall and never really got to use it with the snowblower, but already enjoying it with the 60" mower deck! IMG_2717.mp4

2 pointsDid a little swapping around today, borrowed the wheels off my mini International 1468. Looks pretty bad #ss if you ask me. Little backstory, my girlfriend uses this machine to haul horsemanure from her paddock to a nearby manure dump. Instead of having to use my car, which I take to work daily, she can use the Wheel Horse. Since she buried the thing last week I thought I better step up the wheel game on this machine. Maybe I'll add the wheel weights aswell later on but for now I think it will do just fine. The wheels are 26x12.00-12 and fit pretty good, almost without modification. I raised the seat up by 3/32 of an inch (3mm) and cut a tiny slither of the upright part of the footrest or floorboard (purists look away!). Still tight but fits!

2 pointsSoo the plan today was to help out my mom and dad and sweep their driveway. Unfortunately things did'nt go as smooth as planned so I ran out of daylight. I did however manage to dial everything in best I could, changed the transmission oil and fabricated a quick and dirty weight bracket. Nasty oil, probably a bit watery as this transmission seems to have the same issue every WH transmission has.. Jacked up the front and used a handy dandy oil sucker to get most if not all oil out. Made a bracket from some scrap. Mounts to the hitch pin and butts up to the transmission via a long lever. Kinda like the original hitch but with a longer arm. Should cause less stress on the casting. Four concrete tiles with a hole add up to about 40kg/88lbs. Helps with traction while the heavy sweeper is mounted. And as promised some video for ya.. I think it's pretty clear my driveway could do with a makeover

2 pointsSince I got the tractor running again I wanted to mount the battery properly. The previous owner had it strapped down with tie-raps/cable binders which was not up to my specs. I wanted something quick and dirty so a little welding and a few purchased items made up the new battery tray. Purists look away please
