So last fall I bought a NOS A-60 Electric from a gentleman in Minnesota. But... I'm 11 hours away in Michigan... Then it dawned on me... I know several folks who think 11 hours one way is "before lunch" on a Wheel Horse wrangler trip... So, I message a few and before long, thanks to the generosity and ingenuity of @Pullstart, @WHX??, and @Achto the little gal started her way to Michigan yesterday when achto and whx?? added a stop and picked her up on a previously planned all day run to Iowa, Minnesota and back to Wisconsin... But the tale doesn't end there... pullstart will be bringing her to mid-Michigan in a few weeks on his way back from another multi-state run...!!! I will then pick it up from pullstart, hopefully in plenty of time for the Memorial Day parade!!! Whew...! I can't thank them enough for the logistical support and help. (Well, yes I can. Wheel Horse Bourbon is in their futures)!!! Just another example of the great people on this site!!! Note: If you see a "for sale" add for a NOS A-60 in Wisconsin, please inform the authorities... This is the last known picture of it, taken yesterday, with what appears to be a Wisconsin native at the wheel...

Today I started taking my 604 apart so that I can repaint it and put new stickers on it. Since I used it to plow it has earned its time to be a nice restored tractor and I can use a different one to work with. I can’t wait to see it all nice next to my dads 603. This is my only round hood and I like the round hoods.

Last week I plowed the garden so Friday I disced it. As the pictures show the old disc does a great job breaking up the clods after plowing. The overnight temps dropped to the lower 20's a couple of nights since I plowed so the ground may have gotten cold enough to help with busting up the clods. This week I hope to get in some onions, radishes and beets. Have a couple of grandchildren coming tomorrow and they will be a great help!

What he didn’t say is he is going to do a frame up rebuild with as little help from me as he can. We already have done new electronics in the engine, flushed and inspected the transmission and made sure everything is mechanically sound. He used it for a year around the house doing every chore he could imagine with it. The plan is he will clean every piece down to bare metal and I will teach him how to paint and assist him. He will do the rest. Every nut and bolt will be changed out. Cannot wait to see him rebuild this awesome little tractor.

Having some fun with the narrow front today. First time I really got to use it. I just got the kit this winter. Very well made compared to others I have seen.

Hello there Horse fans! Been a long time since I posted/visited. Between new work opportunity and hauling out scrap iron, it's been hectic. Winter wasn't hardly what I consider winter and was able to get a lot accomplished thankfully! And as a gift for myself, I got my Tonka toy running today and am impressed with it so far. Rebuilt motor, new final drives, rebuilt Hydraulic pumps, steering cylinders, lift cylinders, transmission, and ride control. Bought for parts but decided to save it. Couldn't resist finishing up today and find out if I knew what I was thinking... So far, no leaks! Happy birthday to me! FYI, I'm not in trouble as long as I am showered and sitting at the table for dinner...

Who was that masked man ? Left at 430 am pulled in my driveway at what Dan 10 pm ish? 890 miles. I'll let Dan fill you in on the am ride from hell. No problem Sylvia It was what 1/2 hour out of our way? Ah ya... it's NOS fer sure nubbies on tires @19richie66. One tire was flat but aired up nicely. The only other things is the seat has an issue just from years sitting around. The plastic got robbed from the ignition switch connector but Dan says you can get just that piece yet & nice wiring diagram on it to sort it out. Neither issue a deal breaker in my book. I didn't look to see if there was acid in the batteries ... didn't want to break factory seals that's Sylvia's job should he wish. Not likely since seals were not broken. It does need a good bath & rub down tho. One thing I will warn you about Sylvia it stays here too long it might grow roots...just sayin... other horses are nuzzling it... Now on to to some to @oliver2-44 and @Shynon for doing stupid things.

After three days of rain, I saw an opportunity to get some seat time and engine heating hours on the 520H before putting it away till next winter. The poor thing never got used this winter. Pulling the roller for 2.5 hours warmed up and hopefully evaporated any moisture in the Onan. Then I got my primary mower, the 417A w/48"SD and my show ride the Honda PUP, out of winter storage to make room for the 520H.

Trina got herself a 2012 Honda Pilot. Huge volumes of space for camping gear and it can tow over 4K. We're looking forward to putting it to great use this year!! She's decided that the Pilot shall have the Wheelhorse keychain because it'll be the official Wheelhorse goes to shows puller.

That's a good looking vehicle! Probably bring a smile to the annual personal property tax--at least it would here in MO. Here a couple pictures of my 1992 GMC K2500. It's rust free--in part that the previous owner and I try not to drive on salt treated roads and I spend as much time washing the underside as I do the topside. I also believe that the Penetrol I use to coat underside with every couple of years also helps. I spray up inside the fenders and the frame and pop out the plugs to spray the rockers and doors. One of the other things I did was use the wax rings that seal toilets to the sewer pipes. I used the wax to seal the seam in the rear wheel opening hoping to prevent salty water intrusion from tires sending spray on them. The first picture is the passenger side frame right behind the front wheel. The other is the floor pan and rocker on the passenger side. This truck has 224,000 miles and 31 years old. I also spray our 71 El Camino and 47 Chevrolet sedan delivery with Penetrol. Penetrol is an additive for oil base paint to help it flow better. It's linseed oil based product and I was told years ago that folks used it for rust prevention--now I do.

Now that I no longer do any work outside of house , little by little I am emptying my van of tools and work related stuff. Van is equipped with anything and everything I could possibly need on a job site. One of items in it, is a clever old tool box given to me by my good friend Ed Deveau, which belonged to his father a master shipwrights. He used this box in the 40’s in the shipyards after he came back from war. I am fortunate to have most of his tools and every once in a while Ed comes over with some more. It’s a very simple clever design which is able to contain a surprisingly large quantity of tools and keeps them organized readily visible when needed Been sort of cannibalizing it since I stopped working , so now I decided it’s time to take it from van. Missing tools will be replaced and then box and it’s contents passed on to one of my grandchildren. I have taken great pride and joy in using this box since I started working for myself many years ago.Many of the tools were his ,some actually made by him.

The original purpose for Jim & I's trip was for some Horse trading between me & @Chrishar. Then we added in a trip to pick up a tractor that Jim bought. Next a pick up for @SylvanLakeWH was added. Easy Peasy Jumped in the truck to leave Jim's at 4:30, clean roads and hammer down. GPS said ETA for Osceola IA, 10:50am. Once we got south of Portage WI it started snowing a bit. A short time later the snow started to pick up a more & more. Not too bad, we could still make out the center line to see where the road was. A short stop in Prairie Du Sac for fuel & what not and I swear we got 3" of snow during this stop. Back on the road with this view out the windshield. Mean while we're watching the ETA increasing. Well it will get better once it gets light out. Right?? ETA keeps increasing. Finally as we got close to the Iowa border the snow stopped and the roads cleared up. Put the hammer down, ETA is now 11:45am. Was scheduled to meet in Osceola at Noon so still OK on the meeting time. Met up with Chris to make the trade. A quick lunch, Thanks Ollie!!! Off to Minnesota. Load up Jim's new tractor that he bought from Tom. A short jog to wrangle Sylvia's tractor. Back on the road to good ol' WI. Other than the lost time in the morning it was a good trip.

Before I go on to chew Tom's rear the whole purpose of this wrangle was to swap Dan's 753 with @Chrishars 633. Pretty much an even trade. Had to swap some tires tho. We met up in Oseola IA in a wally world parking lot. Kinda like how I met @Pullstart... this time I was armed tho... Chris is an outstanding horseman and now has the quadfecta ... 701, 702, 753 & 854... not too shabby for a collector in TX.

Thanks for the details @WHX??... I figured there'd be one or two issues... but I think it'll fit right in with the E-141's... Now about them cheesehead gas-burner 's of yours "nuzzlin'" my little ... You better protect her virtue while she's waiting on safe travel with @Pullstart's Pony Express... She better not come back with any greasy hoof prints on her!!!

I was gonna do a separate thread on this but I have no qualms about hijacking Sylvia's. He'll get over it cause I got his tractor... First off Jim @oliver2-44 I told you I didn't want any money for those parts so now you p'ed me off! It was just all crap to us that we had laying around and mighta went to scrap and we was making the trip anyway. Dan and I did have road lunches on the 40 @Chrishar gave us but the $$ in the goodie bags was totally unacceptable. The goody bags were more than enough and by the way that sausage is is absolutely awesome! I just love it but Dan might have a problem with it 'cause of his partials but that's OK I'm there for him.

Breakfast this AM 1 medium spud 90 seconds in the MW then sliced 1/8" thick and tossed in a hot skillet of butter. 1 small onion sliced and added to the skillet 3 slices of venison scrapple added to the skillet Grind in a liberal amount of pepper medley and a little sea salt Toss and turn several times till everything is brown. 15 minutes. throw in a couple jumbo brown eggs and add more pepper, put the lid on and toast the bagel 5 minutes

One more I missed from Friday, with her hand raised high. Then our Saturday tourney, and I received an award as well! I got clocked at 69 in a 55. Oops about that! I’ve been a little scatterbrained (more than normal) lately. I had no words when the ocipher asked what the hurry was….

This weekend was a huge weekend for Rylee! She has had a sprained ankle the last couple weeks. Lots of tape, lots of ice water epsom salt baths, she’s too stubborn to rest at practice. Friday morning was the Girls State MyWay Championship. There were 561 girls at the show. There were 24 in her weight class. She started with a pin, then two losses. She ended with two more wins and placed 7th. We’re so proud of her! With the end of MyWay, begins WAAAM, a laid back practice style tournament. Saturday morning, after wrestling all day Friday, we traveled an hour in the other direction for another tournament, we’re she had 4 boys and 1 girl in her class. She began getting pinned by her first two boys she wrestled. They worked her pretty hard, she lasted more than anyone else in the class against them. They ended up placing first and second. Then, she wrestled the other girl in her class and beat her by technical fall, 16 points to 0. Her last two boys, she made light work of them and pinned ‘em both, for a 3rd place accomplishment and her first boy pins ever! Here are pictures of the State Championship day. Her coaches are pretty big fans. Her teammates are coming around too

The one on the Raider I just got was rusted to the shaft and turning in a rusty housing. I could move around about 1/8". I have a new one in the parts drawer.

If it's loose, I'd replace it while you're there. Now's the time.

Its loose, cleaned in ultrasonic cleaner, I just want to tighten things up. Maybe some Lucus red sticky grease will smooth things out. Put brass bushings in the steering support. Will be making 7/16" tie rods.

I grew up on a 604. Went thru 4 Teckys in 13 years. Did a lot of mowing and snowplowing. Luv the rear weights!

I've spent the last few days as a Robot Inspector at the F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Central Missouri Regional robotics competition. It was hosted by the robotics team I mentor for at the gym in the high school. The bulk of the work was inspecting the robots on Thursday, which was check in and practice day. Friday and Saturday, I spent on mostly on the field giving the robots a quick visual check as they came on deck for their matches. Friday and Saturday, I spent most of the time on the field doing quick visual check on the robots as they came on deck. Fun job. It gives me the chance to see the robots up close and talk with the kids who built them. At the end of the meet, the lead robot inspector invited me to be a robot inspector at the world championships in Houston, Tx next month. Both teams are now qualified for the championships, so I think I'll be there. Our robotics team fielded two competition teams. One robot built by the juniors and the seniors, the other robot built by the freshman and sophomores. The upperclassmen ended up in the #1 seated alliance, and the underclassmen ended up on the #2 seated alliance. in a repeat of the competition, we attended two weeks ago, the two teams met in the best of 3 finals round. The upperclassmen won the first match, while the underclassmen won the next two. We had some very disappointed and despondent upperclassmen. We have some underclassmen with heads that are swelling. What is not fully understood is that all of these matches were very close and could have gone either way. In the end, the upperclassmen were victims of a robot failure in both competitions - basically bad luck for the upperclassmen and good luck for the underclassmen. I don't fully believe that the underclassmen have completely realized that their wins were more a factor of luck rather than superior skill or robot mechanics, whereas the upperclassmen have some appreciation of this fact.

@Pullstart... Hicksville the town I currently live in on long island was mainly potatoe fields back then and slowly suburbia started taking over, now it's little India.. I'm catching the eyes of the neighborhood with these ponies when I take em out for a stroll down to the local park or when I bring em out in the front yard i also started growing veggies in the front yard too. There's one other wheelhorse that roams the neighborhood I saw the old man last year I want to say its a raider 12 8 speed. He lives in Levittown another big old farming town, i tried to talk to him but we caused a traffic jam down down the street....

Did the seasonal swap out of winter equipment (blower and plow that never got used, lolz), prepared to deal with my quarter horse 1267, and did some other yard stuff, too. Today was gloriously springlike - a really welcome change of weather. Lest I forget; I almost overturned the C160 pulling wheelies up the hill. Fun stuff!

If it were mine, I’d put a reinforcing patch at each hole to strengthen the fender and distribute the load. 1. drill a hole at the end of each crack to relieve any residual or future pressure to extend the crack (⅛” is enough) 2. grind the cracks lightly to prep for welds then use tack welds to gradually close each crack (avoid too much heat at one time in any area to prevent warping!) and grind as needed 3. clean and prime with Rustoleum (or equivalent) rust preventative 4. cut a square sheet metal patch that extends over the entire set of cracks for each hole (I’d use ⅛” or 3/16” sheet) and bevel its edges 5. lightly grind off the paint on the fender pan where the patch edges fall 6. weld the patch to the fender with a series of tack welds. It isn’t necessary to completely close up the edge of the patch but if you have the time...(again, avoiding concentrations of heat that will warp the fender and/or the patch) and grind as needed 7. Drill the patch for the seat mounting bolt 8. Clean, prep, and paint the patch & bolt hole (if you want to "gild the lily” for extra rigidity, then before you weld on the patch you can drill additional holes in the fender pan that will fall under the patch and then from the underside of the fender, do tack welds of the fender to the patch at the edges of those holes)

Dethatched the "finally dry enough” lawns which yielded 8 bags of dead grass and leaf mulch. Also laid down the weed n’ feed for spring. No pictures ‘cause I used the Hi-Vac (one of those other snappy “red” brands).

Weeds and grass, gets a little muddy in winter, and having to add gravel/ stone every few years was what I got tired of and made me give in… concrete won’t likely get cheaper…

The man made joints with a tool every 20 or so feet I guess, then returned the following day to make saw cuts…

Old bed frames work well for angle iron. They are tempered steel, very strong, and best of all the inside corner bend of the angle is very sharp. College towns when summer break happens are a good time to find them.
