5 pointsWell makes me wonder if 953 nut has popped over and run my old raider up ,yes it has been running just like his post has said, plus he was right the condenser has been fitted with the wire up ,so will change that when putting another one on ,plus will make a cover for it .Now my box of mixed condensers are the type fitted to our smaller 4 cylinder engine cars ,so should be ok ,the points are not that old but will clean them etc ,plus a new carb has been fitted ,so with luck the old lady will run ok. On the carb note ,that got me going a new one shipped from the states worked out at £372 uk pounds ,but the same looking one that fitted ok was £32 uk pounds all in from china, ?. Anyway its 5am here and -5 out side so will have a few more cups of coffee then go and have a play and update you kind people later. wes

5 pointsFinally got my front wheel weights painted and put on. Was waiting for bolts from bolt depot. Pennies on the dollar compared to my local hardware store. Thanks to EB for that website

4 pointsI hear tell that “some” don’t like anything but red. I wish she weren’t so mean on green as I have other tractors, but those are all of my Horses. LOL Anyhow … From left to right, ‘75 C-100 that my Dad bought new, a ‘79 C-161, and an ‘88 310-8 that was also my Dad’s.

4 pointsWe got 10" ... nothing the crew couldn't handle... Amazes me how much snow the 502 can push.

3 pointsMy c-160 input belt idler pully is in good shape but the bearing is dry; smooth but dry. As you can see I tried drilling out the spot welds but the halves are fused I guess by induction welding as another has stated. I took a large syringe from the local farm supply and took the sharp tip off of the needle. I found that the seal on the side of the bearing is just thin rubber. I really did a number on that seal with the 1/16" dia needle. It's about half gone. I should have left the sharp point on the needle to make a small hole in the seal. Any way I was able to fill the bearing with Lucas Red that I has loaded. I'm thinking that it'll probably stay fairly clean and not loose the grease very fast considering that it's behind the sheet metal. It beats buying a new one and will probably last as long as I need it to. It spins smoothly now without the dry bearing noise. .

3 pointsYou should have a 5073 transaxle if it wasn't swapped out by someone. The spring that makes the differential a limited slip can get a bit weak over time or slip to one side where it isn't making any significant contact with the pinions on one side. Time to take it apart and take a look at what is going on. Lowell @wheelhorseman can fix you up with the spring https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product/7235-spring/ as well as the seals, gasket and other stuff you'll need. @stevasaurus has some great threads on transmission repairs.

3 pointsOne of each is what you actually want to fully comprehend what is going on. To simplify slightly, amps will tell you if your alternator is working, and volts will tell you if your battery is working (e.g. taking a charge).

3 pointsThis is the upper index rod 104341. Buy a 30-36" length of 1/8" dia STEEL ROD from a local hardware or Home depot..Lowes...ValuHome. I've tried using a coat hanger but it is just not rigid enough. The rod might cost you $4. Bend it like this...

3 pointsAfter dealing with issues with both the billet aluminum connecting rods and rod bearing oil clearances, the crankshaft is finally at the machine shop for balancing. After 9 months, when the crank returns the engine can finally be assembled and test run. The voltmeter has been mounted in the gas tank dash. The tachometer and oil pressure gauge have been mounted in the hood stand.

3 pointsOr my version of it anyways....Took a little tour yesterday. First up is the $80,000.00 2022 4700D Groundsmaster, getting her 600 hr. maintainance. 60 HP turbocharged diesel, 12' 6" cut, seven 27" independent decks, 4WD. Next we have more Groundsmasters, Greensmasters, Sand Pro's, Workmasters, Workmans, ect. I couldn't get them all in one shot or all of them either, too busy drooling.
-
3 pointsEvening all. A small update for you. I picked up the panels from the blasters yesterday. Pleased with the finish & the patina. Not so pleased with the Swiss cheese that was once the cutting deck. I'm not sure what the plan will be yet, to be honest it still has its integrity so I could just 'glass it all up but we'll see. I prepped the hood/bonnet/engine cover myself & shot a bit of primer on I should point out the reason I did it myself rather than getting it done with the rest was just to try and tidy up a few dings as I can think of nothing I like more than doing bodywork.. It was definitely NOT because I forget to put it on the pickup when I took everything else up and couldn't be bothered to make another 90 minute round trip to drop it off. Honestly. Thank you for looking, Dan.

3 pointsIt’s hard to believe this radiator didn’t spring a leak! The front clip is disassembled. I’ve got no reason to believe I’ll need to drop the cradle thus far. I feel like it’ll pluck right out of there fairly easily.
-
3 pointsRandom update. The culprit was the fuse block; I had never seen one as crispy as this one. A few minutes of soldering in a new one and we're back to no electrical problems. Everyone suspected the 9-pin connector but that looked nearly new. After mowing the remainder of the summer it is clear I prefer the hydro, although I wish it had a dual pedal set up like a JD or Simplicity. One issue I do not like is the fuel consumption. Wow is she thirsty. I can mow three/four times with my 315-8 and use as much fuel versus mowing once with the 520H.

3 pointsImpressive little beasts aren't they? Just a few weeks ago Trina used her 867 with a 42" plow to move 11" of fresh fallen snow. I didn't think it would do it but she tried it anyway and was perfectly fine.

3 pointsWe had Verizon landline and so-so internet when we first moved here and then Frontier bought them out and as others have said the service degraded and the prices went up to the point that ViaSat internet was a reasonable alternative. As long as there isn't a major storm south of us it works great. Our area is rather sparsely populated so we will probably never have cable internet but if that is the price I need to pay for solitude and privacy I'm doing just fine.

3 pointsRed just like Jamie Davis Heavy Rescue on Highway through Hell Was up in the storage shed the other day and noted the mothballs had failed and I had a mouse nest in a C175. Pulling engine tins on a KT17 is a PITA. Didn't want to drive it down so got the Heavy Rescue GT-14 went up an towed her down.

3 pointsHere in the mountains of Tennessee the only choice I have, unless I go near a larger town or city, is WiFi calling on my cell. I get no service too far away from my WiFi signal. However, it's peaceful and quiet here and I can't see my neighbors from my house.

3 pointsThere is a good likelihood that my cousin raised the buckwheat that flower was processed from. He and his two partners cultivate 4,000 acres in central NY and are a primary producer of buckwheat in the area. It can be planted later in the year after the winter wheat crop has been harvested giving the opportunity to double crop that land. It is harvested after the oats and before the corn crop so it makes good use of equipment and time. It is processed in Penn Yan NY so they are able to truck it directly from the field to Birkett Mills, 150 mile round trip.. Most years they put in 600 to 800 acres producing a half ton per acre. Since it goes directly to the mill there is no storage or drying involved.

3 pointsAny condenser is better for your ignition points than no condenser at all. If you have a meter that will check capacitance you can use the information below to determine the one that will best match your engine's needs. The Kohler 230722 Condenser fits all battery ignition single cylinder and twin cylinder from the K-90 to the K-582. The 235786 condensers are for the magneto equipped Kohler engines only K-161 to K-301 The unit of measure for a condenser is the Farad. Many electronic components like radios and TVs use capacitors that are in the microfarad range (ten to the minus six power Farads) and our small engines use a condenser that is in the nano-farad range (ten to the minus ninth power Farads) which is based on the voltage range they work in. A magneto ignition system uses a 100 to 250 nF condenser and a battery ignition system uses a 200 to 500 nF condenser. A good multi-meter will have a capacitor testing function. Armed with this information you can walk into your auto parts store and get a very confused look on the face of the person on the other side of the counter. The capacitance is not listed on the package and probably not in any of the on-line data they have for the condensers they stock. You just have to go by the application chart and be sure that the condenser you are buying is for the type ignition system your engine has, not just the horsepower or engine size. If an engine idles well, but runs erratically when revved up, like it hits and misses, pops and backfires, then chances are, it needs a new condenser/capacitor. And always install a condenser/capacitor with the wire facing downward so rain water and/or when washing off engine, water will not enter inside condenser/capacitor, ruining it. With water inside the condenser, this will also allow it to idle well, but cause it to run erratically when revved up. What is a farad (F)? A farad (F) is the standard unit of capacitance (C) in the International System of Units (SI). It indicates the ability of a substance to hold an electric charge. The value of most electrical capacitors is expressed in farads, microfarads (µF) or nanofarads (nF)

2 pointsI figured it was time to start a new topic for this build considering its come much farther than just asking questions about transmissions. this is my take on a 4x4. no where close to ready and i havent been taking too many pics along the way but here are some. It started as a 1973 16 auto. homeade front axle pivot mount, driveshafts, wheel bearing knuckles, and soon to be tie rod system
-
2 pointsI think that's what I was trying to describe by saying cage. The part you can see in the picture for your avatar? If that's it, then it has to be easier than any disassembly, regardless of how straightforward that might be.

2 pointsThe factor is what drives the spark...if its cam driven, such as a kohler points engine it sparks every other crank revolution. If its crank driven such as with a solid state coil, you get a spark every revolution and 1 is wasted. So the tach reads every spark and knows time, so it needs to know if the number of sparks its seeing is 1/2 the crank speed or 1/1 the crank speed. I use a cheap laser tach..you put reflective tape on anything that spins and point it at it..gives you rpms...which is nice because i can check speeds of things independently of ignition

2 pointsIt’s been about a month since this journey began. I started by slashing 13.2 lbs in 13 days if I recall. It’s been slow, but mostly constant since then. This morning, I am less than 1/2 lb from my 100 Big Macs (caloric value of 563 each) goal of 16.1 lbs. I’m still intermittent fasting daily and have felt plenty of energy. Mornings lately I’ve had more hunger feels than usual but no lack of energy. It feels good to feel good again!

2 pointsSounds like there may be something blocking the fluid flow through the reverse acceleration valve. Pull it out and do a creful cleaning and inspection.

2 points@ohiofarmer After reading that I believe that comment was directed at me! I’m currently walking a fine line! I just picked up another one last Sunday but it was free. She can’t really complain if I didn’t spend money on it. However we’ve not yet received the monthly auto parts store bill in the mail, which will show a new battery, motor oil, gear oil and other miscellaneous items that it needed! Oops 😬

2 pointsGlad to help. They've been great to deal with as well as fantastic pricing. Their grade 8 is nearly the same price as grade 5. I keep a decent selection of grade 8 bolts from 1/4-20 x 1/2 to 3/8-16 x 2. What little they charge for freight is more than compensated in the hardware savings.

1 pointI got fiber in Tennessee for internet at around $100 a month. I also got firestick on several TVs and get anything I want to watch for free. I'm considering Starlink in the future. https://www.starlink.com/ My neighbor has it and it's fast and simple to set up with coverage just about anywhere. Also considering this for my phone https://www.visible.com/
