12 pointsSo I've been wanting a 2 inch rear hitch receiver for the tractors and came across a hitch receiver off a 97 F-150 that looked like a perfect modification project for this end. It is straight square tubing and nice long mounting brackets. Got it cheap enough and decided I'd have a go at making it fit. The 312-8 will be the fitment rig. It'll also get used by the C-100. after some measuring it was time to cut it down to size and remove the clevis hitch all work was done with an angle grinder and drill. But this wasn't too complicated a project. So I trimmed down mounting brackets and used that to replace the top mount bracket from my plow mount. Measured all holes out and then drilled holes for the receiver part to fit. It's not the most precise cutting as this was free hand but it'll do the job. I'm going to weld in some some coupons on the square tube ends to close it up and paint it all regal red. But for now I'm pleased with it and it's perfectly functional. Just in time for possible snow too! So this now has the 2" front and rear receivers. Should make it easier to add some weight down the road as well. I'll do an update when it's painted. thanks for looking!

6 pointsI've been rearranging/ thinning out the horrible mess in the garage. When we moved here, we came from a house with both a full floored attic and a basement to a larger place with niether. Half of the garage and my utility building have become dry storage ever since. Every couple months I take a few boxes and go though them, in the hopes that I'll be done before I croak. Last night, buried in the bottom of one box was my old Simpson meter. It's dusty but still works. Some might think this is old junk, but these things are the only way to go! Made all the day's begrudging work worth it! Just another example of "I forgot I had that!"

6 points520H Snow duty only now. I added the impeller bailer belt up grade really throws the snow even very wet snow. Bought the cab brand new 2 yrs ago and now want to add the glass front and wipers. I still have to install the lights I bought for top of cab. One big one for the front and two smaller for the back. I bought ones that can go to an amber light said they work better at night when it’s snowing easier to see will see and update when I get my lazy butt back in the garage and install them. 4 pointsWho ever told you that is on crack... you are short, stocky and stupid. You get enough exercise from being stupid but cutting wood does not hurt. Can you split for a couple of hours without losing your breath? That's what worries me. I do but I gag nine packs a day... you have never smoked.

4 pointsWinter has finally arrived in this part of Maine. We had a few storms earlier but I wasn't able to get the WH out to blow snow. I thought I was ready when I moved it into winter shed, but when I went to start it in December I got a handful of gas from the two year old Chinese primer bulb.Then the nipple snapped off the plastic fuel pump (same origin, same vintage). Maybe someday I'll learn. Anyway, the new Facet electric pump was ready to go for the most recent couple of storms. Wiring is still kind of temporary. I wired the pump through a rocker switch the PO installed for headlights. I want to wire through the key/ignition switch but hesitated to hack into the already sketchy wiring. Facet suggested wiring through the oil pressure switch. I was thinking of wiring it through the unused terminal on the 520-H key switch. The wiring diagram shows it should be life in the "run" position. Any suggestions? Also got out for several walks. About time for snowshoes, but my friend is impatient as I fumble with the camera.

4 pointsBeen busy with other BS the last couple of weekends but I have made some progress. New paint & bearing for the idle pulley. The body work is done on the hood. Ready for primer & paint. A pail full of sand blasted parts. A few parts received some silver paint. I have come across one dilemma. This tractor has replaceable tie rod ends but I'm having a hard time finding the correct replacements. The existing tie rod ends have 1/2-20 internal threads with a 3/8-24 male stud. The only ones that I can find that are close have a 7/16 - 20 male stud. If anyone has a source for the correct ones I would appreciate the info.

3 pointsI was a pretty good wrestler. I started in 1st or 2nd grade, and worked up through 9th, between freestyle and middle school / high school teams. 8th grade, I was bumped up to the varsity team and I believe I was in the 155 weight class most of my later years. I tore my corroded artery and suffered some internal bleeding, making me to decide to end my career wrestling, and begin working. The coaches weren’t happy, the principal and vice principals persecuted me, but at wouldn’t let their actions change my goals and decisions. Fast forward about 23 years. Rylee wants to wrestle. I contacted the coaches of the local club and because she homeschools, they told me she cannot join middle school team, but could wrestle in the club. Two different organizations, club and team. She began practice two weeks ago. Twice a week, and last week Tuesday we showed up for a practice and there was a young kid’s meet being made up from the scheduled Monday it should have been on. Then, after two practices and one meet in the stands, she decided it was time to enter her own competition. Thursday practice, we signed her up. Most weight classes have a Novice and an Open division. Because of her age, her only option was Open division, where it’s assumed there are at least two years of wrestling under your belt. She had three practices! Of the 5 kids in her class, there were two girls. She didn’t win any matches, but she never backed down and never gave up fighting. I’m dang proud of that kid, for even the courage to show up! When I was warming her up in the corner, getting her arms and shoulders loose like my coaches used to do for me, I was hit with a couple of tears. That sure doesn’t happen to this gruff dude, but it did! The other girl ended up second, which I believe is very inspiring to another girl just starting. This weekend, there might be a girls division. I’m not sure, based on the age group though. She has a bit of a shiner on her right eye this morning, some bruises and burns on her arms, and is all smiles!

3 pointsI got one of those Harbor Fright mini crane hoist thingys still in the box. I plan to make it work like Don's @Lee1977 did on his tractor. It's pictured below. I'm also thinking of adding a 2 inch reciever on my welding table so I can use it to lift things up onto it. I made the table nice and tall without thinking how bleeping heavy some of the stuff I work on is getting. I'm not old or anything, it's just I now believe that climate change has affected gravity...

3 pointsThanks again @Blasterdad for your generosity! It made this generator so much better! The diesel exhaust was routed through the body and down to the bottom of the trailer, fumigating everyone inside. Along with the terrible choice to put it down low, it was banging in the body of the trailer too. The exit is now about 7’ or so off the ground and on the opposite wall of the entry door.

3 pointsI did the same setup on one of my tractors but I mounted the receiver upside-down to give me a little more height for moving a small landscaping trailer around and still have the smaller hitch that came on the tractor to move my small yard trailer and lawn roller.

3 pointsExcellent work there. I'd like to add something on the fitment here having done this myself in the past. I've built one hitch and modified another and they were both for eight speeds. When I went to install it on the 1975 Automatic last year it did NOT fit. Automatics are a little wider than the manuals. I've kept a bad Automatic casing set aside with my old three speed. Both had bad outer bearings and were shredded. They will be used as a jig to be able to use to make my future hitches.

3 pointsThat's one of my older brothers... identical twins. They were my gas engine pit crew in case my electric failed me... I had tow straps ready to go... Horn - I went simple... never know. May upgrade as I expand the train... Several more nieces / nephews have little ones in the pipeline, so i'm looking to either add cars to the train or go with another whole train... decisions decisions... Problem going longer is turning around in the street...

2 pointsIf you get to that point just let me know and I'll snap some pics and measurements on the core transmission I have. You can find those receivers by themselves on the interwebs for less than 20 bucks. After that, cross pieces and braces depends on what you have laying around.

2 pointsThe only reason I'd run an engine at full throttle is either a Hydro/Automatic transmission all the time so it's getting the transmission the power AND cooling it needs. Or... On a manual transmission tractor for running implements or pulling heavy. Even the pulling heavy would be marginal to me. I have the K341 on my Cinnamon Horse 1974 C160 8 speed set to 3300 RPM max. That's likely around 14 HP and it does perfectly fine for all I do.

2 points1989, our new 312-8, my son plowing at age 8, our first winter with horse. I inherited a small amount of money from an aunt -- my sister bought clothes, furniture etc -- i bought a Wheel Horse !!!! Which was better investment? DUH !! This year i cleaned rust from 34 yr old plow and rehabbed it with new paint and am using on C175.... but no snow yet and nothing in 14 day forecast. Will be mowing again soon!!!!!!!!!! Be interesting to see what snow Feb and March brings????

1 pointFirst picture is last years line up. The 753 only saw one storm of action while then big 2 stage never came out. this year the 2 stage is on my Bronco 14 and the boys have each put snow plows on their 604 and 856. They plowed one small storm if an inch or so. I won’t complain if that’s all we get.
