17 points@AHS contacted me a few weeks ago about this little short frame 8 HP he was thinking about selling. I figured it was a great addition to the Herd for Trina. It's her go-to year. 1967. Her go-to engine. Kohler 8. It has excellent straight sheet metal. Good bones, as they say. 🙂 So here's the newest for her... 857.

13 pointsMy family got me one of the best gifts ever! I haven't had a chance to try 'em yet, but I bet they're good! C-85

9 pointsPay particular attention to the facts and figures. Certainly designed for 2 very different purposes but a bit startling to see the incredible strength of the 100 year old +/- machines.

6 pointsThe corporate farmer to my West spread several hundred ton of chicken manure today. Of course we had a 10MPH West wind today, so the brown cloud covered my lawn and garden. Just need to keep the doors and windows closed till the next rain soaks it in the ground. Four of these trucks were hauling all day...probably 20 truckloads.

6 pointsI'm partial the two piece seats.. probably because I have spent many days rebuilding several of them. Even making a couple pans from scratch. For a worker, I would not risk wear on the two piece. Worker Bee, leave the high back on Queen Bee, show off the two piece
-
6 pointsI never talk to my butt…weirdo ! The two piece seat isn’t as comfy. The reason is, that even adjusted all the way back it’s closer to the steering wheel than the high back. I’m going to see what it’ll take to make it set farther back before I give up on the two piece, cause I think it’s a way better looking seat.

6 points@peter lena we're calling your name bud! 😂 It's very straight Mike. A nice overall start for whatever Trina decides to do with it. That fuel tank being out of the tractor is because @AHS had it soaking to clean it out. We'll pop that in and give the whole rig a once-over twice, then see about firing up. Not sure what we'll do with the mowing deck yet considering we don't mow with a tractor but Trina is VERY impressed that there's still a decal on it after all these years.
-
6 pointsI can vouch that the memory making doesn’t end. It just turns from tractors to home remodeling projects and then tractors for grandkids to drive.
-
5 pointsOpinions on these seats on this tractor please. Originally the B80 would have had a low back seat, right now it has a high back seat. Also “in-stock” I have this 2 piece seat. I could care less about originality. So?? Newer high back or two piece seat?

5 points@Rob J. beat me to the I'll just come get both... just to be fair I'll give ya an entry in the ugly seat contest. Seriously the three piece is my favorite of all saddles. The high back I would not use except for a trailer queen it is that nice and does not belong on a worker. Hear tell they don't make them anymore. I do like a low back for a tractor you get on and off alot and have to throw a leg over... say a yard worker. Which seat really depends on what you will use her for.

5 pointsThe fact that you have both “in stock” is impressive in itself! By the way, I love that term. My shop teacher used to use it all the time and it stuck with me. I use it often when referencing anything at my house/ shop people seem to get a kick out of it! Kinda sounds like you have some kind of warehouse!!!

5 points@JCM no problem , that first recovery effect on a long forgotten horse , is quite interesting , it just quietly responds , done it many times , imagine putting lubricant on solid rust ? replacing a broken shorted wire ? greasing a fitting ? that penetrating oil spray down must feel very good to it . imagine a trans oil drain after a heat up drive ? this is all part of it , its never a one and done . but I know it works , oily pete

4 pointsHELLO TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT SEALS AND REPLACEMENT PARTS TO RENEW A 416 H I BOUGHT NEW 26 YRS AGO.

4 pointsWhen my uncle bought a side discharge manure spreader my brother wanted to be the first to use it. My uncle forgot to tell him to not to make any right hand turns. When he got to the end of the field he made a tight right turn and he and the tractor both got a liberal coating of fresh chopped cow patties. That sort of erased all previously accumulated at-a-boys.
-
4 points@ri702bill what else but RED GREASE ! aerosol can , and wipe it down , should be perfect , pete
-
4 pointsWow, that’s a lot of $#!¥. Must smell delightful. I wonder how many chickens it takes to produce that much per year. What did they use to load the spreader?

4 pointsA few of the differences listed in this Front quick hitch introduced in 1973. 4 points…. but this was given to me today. It’s a B-80 with the 8 speed tranny!! She runs perfect and all the gears work. Even has headlights. My neighbor and friend @Docwheelhorse comes driving down my driveway with it and says “Merry Christmas ..it’s yours now”! Long story short, he is trying to get all his nice machines into indoor storage. This B-80 was stored inside but he has a new 416 that he wants inside and so the B lost its spot. But he couldn’t bear to leave it outside in the elements, and he knows all mine live inside so I now have it. Last pic is in my shed.

4 pointsAbsolutely agreed. Toss @nylyon Karl a $20 Bill and become a supporter. Your name turns red like ours, no more ads, and your beautiful pics have no more limits.

4 pointshe is my last kiddo and with Caleb in his last few months of High School and Claudia talking Nursing School following her senior year, I am seeing the “handwriting on the wall”. It is what so many of you gents have shared with me in past years—enjoy every minute that you can. Make every memory while you can. I feel so blessed to have the children that I have and I love each one very much but it is scary to think how much life for the wife and I is likely to change in the next decade…not bad, just different. I like this stage and I’m trying to “squeeze every drop” of enjoyment and memory making that I can! I hope that every time he spends serious seat time on this tractor, he remembers this time with me working, caring for, refurbishing it!
-
4 pointsI wonder if you reduced the air pressure that you might get more rubber on the road.
-
3 pointsWhen we stockpile it does continue to compost some. It will turn to the finest dirt you have ever seen if left long enough we have never had any combustion issues even in the heat of the summer. The litter is so fine it doesn’t store heat as long as you would think

3 pointsI had some office work to do this morning but Zach came out around 10am asking what he could do. I put him back on the sanding brigade but this time it was on the rear rims. We went sledding in the early afternoon and then when we got back, Zach was dying to get some color on his rims. He loves the look of Richie’s grey rims and so he picked charcoal grey by RustOleum. They turned out nice and we will be installing the new tires soon!

3 pointsThey have always alternated between an early barley crop and a late soy bean crop then corn the following year. 2022 was barley/soy bean 2023 corn????
-
3 pointsI didn't get a picture, but last week my Amish neighbor that is adjacent to this corporate farm, was spreading roadapples (hi Jay) with a small hand loaded spreader pulled by two horses. Quite a contrast between these two side by side farms in my back yard.
-
3 pointsI always understood that if it's a steaming pile of chicken 5h1t, it ain't done composting yet. I guess it will finish once they till it in.

3 pointsThe bearing & cross reference thread is more for manual transmissions. some of those bearings and seals will work but not the ones that attach to the pump. Be more specific and we can do better pointing you to the right stuff.
-
3 pointsI would go with comfort . None of my horses have WH seats all replaced with seats that were more comfortable.
-
3 pointsI like the look of the two-piece seat the best. The slotted one. It's a matter of comfort as far as I'm concerned. I don't use the high back portion of the high back seat, so to speak so I would be more prone to choosing the low back for practicality if the slotted two-piece seat is not comfortable for usage constantly.

3 pointsToday is National Fruitcake Day, at some point in history Congress made this a matter of public interest and gave them their own day.
-
3 pointsMost of my pictures of these are too large of files to post. Sorry
-
3 pointsI saw my first ones two and a half years ago. There were two. The next year about six showed up in my neighbors pasture. Then this past summer I saw four different groups. They are larger than most hawks. and fly more gracefully than any other bird that I have seen. My theory is that climate change had altered the insects patterns of movement further north, and they follow the food to fatten up before heading to South America.

3 pointsI’m a bit behind @PeacemakerJack, awesome progress you guys are making! That pulley system that @gt14rider posted is the same I have. That 3/4” shaft I imagine you could get a chunk of already keyed round stock or maybe @Achto could mill something for you at work? I don’t recall who I was talking with about the GT14 tiller setup but apparently the pump shaft originally had a brittle makeup and was prone to snapping with the impacts of the tiller. Maybe a rod should be built to become a fuse of sorts, with a groove turned into it. I’d imagine a 3/4” shaft with a 1/16”-1/8” groove would be sufficient to be a sacrifice to save the pump. Whoever told me that, said many pumps have been repaired with a softer input shaft over the years, to allow more impact without shattering.

3 pointsIf you lose space I can throw some junk out I've been saving to make room for it. Can't leave a Wheel Horse out side, my space is even heated.
-
3 pointsI say this was a "win-win" for both of you. Mike gets a new machine, and Tony knows it will be in good hands as well. Congrats to both of you!

3 points@DNoland … are you looking for a new tire with the same or similar tread pattern, or AG style tires? Or something in- between? I have these on two of my rigs and anytime someone asks about tires I use the opportunity to brag about em! Carlisle All-Trails are the brand and type. 23x10.5 on the gray tractor and 23x8.00 on the red tractor.
