15 pointsIt was -6 yesterday when the power went out at our place in Northeast Ohio. We were down for two hours. The little Predator kept things running and toasty inside. Paid for itself! There hasn’t been enough snow to really tax the SK-486 - about 3 to 4 inches

9 pointsWelcome to the 2022 Red Square Christmas tractor parade, AKA Wheel Horse Collector Club parade six months late. The past few years I have taken pictures of as many Wheel Horses as I could on Friday of the Big Show and posted them that evening. Well this year life got in the way and here we are six months later and I’m finally getting around to posting them as a slideshow. Please sit back and enjoy the parade.

8 pointsI made 13 candle holders last week and hung them all about the house as a birthday gift to Mrs. P. I was kind of nervous that she wouldn’t appreciate all the new holes in her walls, but she loves them! The bases are 2-1/4” thick hardwood from Grandpa’s barn. No @formariz pieces, but she likes ‘em rustic and sentimental. So far, we haven’t had to use the, in this storm. We are the last service on the grid, the line ends at our place. If we were to have multiple outage spots, we’d be the last to get restored.

7 pointsIt was 9 degrees here in NE GA this morning. So many of the Red Square members are in the deep freeze of this Artic blast and now I'm seeing headlines that over a million are without power. One headline said that 25% of Maine customers is without power. @ebinmaineEric are you still on line? Hope so; praying that you're stayin' warm!

7 pointsCleared some snow in style on Thursday afternoon when the bulk of it came down. Did some touch up of the blown snow this morning. Pretty satisfied with the traction. No slippage at all so far. Site looks pretty festive by the way.

7 pointsHiya Joe! We're doing just fine. Haven't had power for nearly 24 hours. Should be back on soon. Generator is cooling down the fridge. Wood Stove heating the house. Candles and head lamps were in good use last evening. We sanded Wheelhorse parts by candlelight. 😃 Some storm damage here. About 7 PM yesterday we had a VERY strong wind gust. 60+ mph or more. The gray portable garage started over but the Paracord caught on Cinnamon Horse C160 so it held. 😂 We also have a half a tree down in the backyard which pulled the dog's wire out of the house and disconnected a portion of fence. We'll fix those this morning. Just another day in the Maine forest!! Hope all's well with everyone else!!

7 points@Santa Are you ok?? Just got this picture from the local news. Safe travels everyone!!
-
7 pointsDid it come with instructions and a box of band aids in case Dan isn't around when you use it?

7 pointsIsn't anytime a time for breakfast? Anytime is a good time for a stack of pancakes. My elves got the sleigh loaded and my IT elves are upgrading SPS (Santa Positioning System) as I type this. This will probably be my last response here as things are in overload mode here at the North Pole. What did Willie Wonka say, “So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.”

7 pointsWe don't open our gifts until Christmas day, but I am a bit curious about why this truck was in our driveway the other day.
-
6 pointsOk a little I know early but with the weather what the heck... Dan come over today to give Cindy and I this... and this ... a show hub puller set... and all I got him is a bottle of 'Captain's black.
-
6 points@Ed Kennell Although Santa didn’t bring me this, you inspired me to get mine out and display it! I found mine in an antique store a few years ago. Merry Christmas 🎄

6 pointsLots a pressure, a good shower towel and a roll of duct tape got me to the two medical facilities to run some rope on a needle through it

6 pointsMake sure the crankcase breather is working. It should allow air out but none in.

5 pointsvery romantic!!! i surely agree sure it is convenient, but in Belgium where electricity is $0.60/kw, we heat on diesel oil. When heating with wood you have it warm, 3 times: when cutting, when splitting and when actually burning it
-
5 pointsOkay you guys up there your damn weather is in my backyard! Can somebody come get it I will even throw in a roached out 603.

5 pointsVery romantic... That BBT is one lucky girl!!!

5 pointsBack in post #10 of this thread I posted a link for some heated gloves & said that I would give a report on them. First try was this morning, -1 with 25+mph winds running the walk behind snow blower. I was outside for about 2hrs. So far I would give them an 8 on a scale of 1-10. Hands stayed completely warm. Finger tips were slightly cold but not any where near the point of having to endure pain while warming them up. I had the gloves on their highest setting and had about 2 hours worth of battery life yet after I was done. Ran the battery dead before putting them back on the charger.

5 pointsOkay, one more, you know it's cold in south Florida when they issue a Falling Iguanas alert, Google it.

5 pointsGreat Eric replied with a "Thank you". Hope you others are stayin' warm. Have a Merry Christmas! Remember Jesus is the reason for the season!

5 pointsHaHa - lost power at 11:15 last night. Rolled over and figured the cold would wake me. Yeah - around 4. 2° outside and windy. Out to the shed to get the gen which has never been used (but fuel always cycled). Moved the ignored 520H outside so there's my WH activity for the day. Gen needed Gumout to cough and start. Power on at 6. Fire is warm. Internet fixed at 8:30. Off to the neighbor's, who has no heat, with the garage heater. Fun times! House warming - is now at 64. Stay warm out there y'all!

5 pointsOn a super cold day like today where tractor seat time just isn’t going to happen..,it’s nice to see people in t- shirts and shorts having fun on WH’s! Thanks!
-
5 pointsTook a quick look at the thermometer this morning and it was two degrees. While I was looking it went down to one so I quit looking, don't want it to go any further.

4 pointsSeveral power companies and the PJM interchange are using rolling blackouts tonite and tomorrow. Automatic whole house generators are great....but for most of us firing up a gas generator for an hour or 2 black out is a pain. We live at the end of the extension cord and have a fair number of outages. Most fixed in 2 to 4 hours. I now rely on a couple big batteries and inverters. They run the refrigerator some lights and the fan on the coal stove for several hours. Easy to set up and no going outside...When they poop out then drag out the 5kw and crank it up...

4 pointsSo from what i can recall now that my brain has thawed, i was sitting side saddle to see if it would actually move, right foot on on the clutch; i guess when it took off i got chucked off the seat...or slid down, my stomach was skinned up and dirty so im going to guess when i ran up to kill it i stumbled into the left rear tire that was spinning... Tractors are and have always been a bit dangerous; cold weather only makes it worse.

4 pointsAfter having a major oil spill in our basement a few years ago I can assure you that any oil will be the absolute last thing we use to create warmth again. Ever.

4 pointsSounds as though it's colder down south than it is here in Central NY. I've got 10 degrees and only a couple of drifts than needed any attention. Most areas are blown clear. The wind is a howling though, they say 20-30 with 40 mph gusts. Looks like a great day for some football. Let's Go Buffalo.

4 pointsYesterday I saw a local news weather person somewhere in northern Georgia say, for all us southerners stay home and don't drive unless you really need to. For all you snowbirds you'll need your big coat. Enjoy your holidays and stay safe and warm.
-
4 pointsI like that “hut” idea if I was forced to store my generator outside. But luckily I have a walk out basement so she lives inside next to the breaker panels where even on the coldest days (like 5 degrees today!!) it never gets below 60 degrees. It’s also always plugged in to the little battery tender thingy that it came with.

4 pointsJust tell the person at the parts counter you have 1967 to 1979 VW Beetle, that is something they can look up without needing to know anything about an ignition system.
