Made a trip up to New Hampshire for some non-ethanol fuel from the pump. Here in Connecticut it’s only sold in stores and is $25-$30 a gallon!! Bought 28.5 gallons at $4.70 a gallon, plus drove 212 miles round trip in my Tundra getting just over 18 MPG…after calculating and adding in my truck fuel costs this non-ethanol fuel costs me $6.01 a gallon. I call that a win! (plus the NH Liquor store is kinda next door so I picked up something for myself)

Yesterday we got 10" + of the heaviest wettest snow I can ever remember. The whole barn roof did a great job of shedding it all. ... In the driving path we need open. No worries. We expected that. We planned for that. Well I wasn't exactly planning on the white stuff being cement though. It was frozen overnight so I knew it would be a tough go...

Excellent run Sir!! Interesting irony with the fact that you'll drive so far to eliminate alcohol from your gasoline and add it to your you. 🤪

Ain't that about 15/16 of the world's population!?!? Now where's my belt guard Dan?
  5. 9 points
So I ask Dan @Achto what brand belts & size worked good on his 701 resto... don't remember he says... well what the #%*& good are ya I says? So I does a quick search here and Squonky says AX-29s in a thread from 1932. Let's not let @squonk know he knows what he's talkin about.. he'll get a even bigger head and be unbearable... 15 clams for a matched set in the jungle and at my door in three days. On a sunday to boot! Perfect fit & even labeled Goodyear if that means anything to ya. Now how can you beat that?!?!

Hi, my first post. I just got a 314-8 from my friend/neighbor who bought a new JD diesel so he gave me his WH. I'm new to these guys but I love it already! I put the 48" blade on it and it kept dropping down when I had it in the up position so I pulled it apart and found the chassis plate had broken at the lift arm bearing support. I machined a bushing and welded it in place. I have some other issues to resolve but right now I can plow this winter, I'll wait for next summer when it's warmer before I dig into anything else.

As much as I love my Wheel Horses, when we get a big ugly snow fall I get this beast out. It does not care if the snow is wet or dry.

WOW! That is awesome! Puts my snow machine to shame... but... it's alls I gots... I actually got my chains on today... got it all checked over. Ready to rock. BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!!!!! Wheel spacers are awesome... Spindles still look brand new... Ms. Turkey performing her yearly inspection... Don

Baby Declan is with Jesus now, no more pain, no more suffering.

I use it in the ones that sit around and only really see use at shows and meets. The two tractors that see mowing duty all summer get ethanol laced pump gas (with stabil) all summer. And my snowplow tractor will get the same until this spring when snow plowing is about done. At that time it will get filled with E-free since it pretty much sits all summer.

In late 2014 I ordered a new 2015 Toyota Tundra Limited, best truck I've ever owned. Only one of us made it home safely on Thursday. I have no idea what I'm going to replace it with because I'm not really in love with anything currently offered by any manufacturer. I do however get to spend another Xmas with my family and you guys and for that I'm thankful.( bruised and battered, but thankful ) Also : for those of you that don't know , I do collision work for a living , and I have preached this for years : WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS! I probably wouldn't be here if I hadn't...

I spent some time doing some fab work today. @WHX?? borrowed me a part so that I could copy it to replace a missing part on my tractor. A couple of pics of the new part next to the one that I copied. Made a puller for removing 4 bolt hubs. Destroyed a POS steering wheel in order to remove it from the tractor.

I am sitting here reading, and balling my eyes out. I am so heartbroken for little Declan and his family. I know I should somehow be able to be happy, because Jesus conquered death on the cross… and for that I am joyful. I feel so small , and so faithless that I cannot comprehend the magnitude of Gods love and his kingdom. I feel like Jesus has Declan sitting on his knee right now.

Had all my White Oaks cut down summer before last… now I only have to get up my neighbors leaves… I let the 2000 series CC 2155 work, while the horses graze… Leaving some bear tracks in the yard… Don’t know why I keep putting off getting my leaf-vac trailer running and service worthy…

Stole Skittles rear tires and put them on here with. 2” wheel spacer. Enough room behind the wheel to hopefully run disc brakes. Also found the frame cracked in two places. Cut out the cylinder mounting plate and will make a new one later. Welded in two 24” flat steel plates which I will fully weld in after all the figuring is done. Also trimmed up the side plates for a test fit. Not too bad. Looks like a pto sticking out. Once the foot plates are on it will look better. Time to fit the transmission.

@Robaroni AS most of us can say a Wheel Horse is like a potato chip, you can't have just one.

Welcome!!! This group is awesome. There will be someone that has an answer pretty quickly too most of the time. Oh and by the way this won't be your only wheelhorse lol

I've got one from about 20 years ago myself. Two daughters and my son all rode it. Only been outdoors twice for a picture. Still looks pretty good.

They were available from the dealers ( direct from Toro ) , I still have the original order forms, and one assembled tractor and 2 brand new still in the box. No they aren't for sale. Picture is my son on his about 20 years ago.

@Snoopy11 Exactly !… pain and suffering, and death is a part of life… I know that Love is stronger than hate, light overtakes darkness, good ultimately triumphs over evil, and Jesus conquered death, on the Cross, for once and for all!

I’m not sure what it costs here, 4 something. It’s everywhere. I won’t use anything else so I’ll pay extra. They didn’t even have ethanol in 1965 to the best of my knowledge. None of these motors were designed to run on it. In my opinion neither are todays motors. It’s all government laws and mandates to feed certain industries. Also too much farm land is set aside for the production of it in my opinion.

Sparky, as long as you are traveling, Canada sells an excellent (at customs) Canadian Whiskey that is Cherry flavored. If you mixed the Cherry and the Peanut Butter in a saucer and threw in a piece of toast, you could have Peanut Butter and Jelly Time.

I'm still looking for the gas cap on my E-141... I do run only efree in my C 105... 1/2 mile away... lake area so most stations carry it for the boaters... I'm lucky...

I started buying the premixed gas like that for the convenience of it (not because I have any aversion to ethanol use) and I feel it’s safer to store in its original container in the garage than in my plastic fuel cans. Curiously the stores around here sell the 32-oz quart bottles of premix trufuel cheaper - on a per ounce basis - than the 110-oz “gallon” size. And the quart bottles are easier to pour. weird. steve

I put some brand new winter tires of shame on Mrs. P’s Suburban “De Ette”. Her 35” tires do fairly well, but we are preparing for a trip to TN soon. 285’/75’s should be more fuel friendly and have a bit better road manner. I should have painted the wheels..

@Sparky noting your fuel run , never used non ethanol fuel in my horses / small engines , have changed the fuel lines , have 2 fuel filters on my stuff , always added STA -BIL to every bit of my fuel , when I top off, so my fuel is rich with it . not had any issues at all , carb bowls are clean , consistent starts , just my own experience , plugs look clean , while I am buying an additive and steadily using it there is a cost comparison to non ethanol fuel , but , adding a couple of ounces to my top offs , has been trouble free for me , pete

Eric is correct 78 and newer used a larger diameter can putting it closer to the hood, with the exception being the 8hp models. They still used a small can. You’ll note that almost all 78-79 C-series have some form of discoloration in the paint in this area or it’s even burnt off. @dmac Yes I spoke directly with Cecil Pond on this issue and pointed out the bubbling paint on my freshly restored C-121. He said, and I quote “Well now that’s a bad design isn’t it?!! “ The picture in the upper left ( I forgot what you call it? Maybe avatar?) was taken moments after our conversation and his signing of my tractor. It’s me, Betty and Cecil. I’m pretty proud of that picture! Here’s a picture of the heat shield I made for it, seems to be working well. However I’ll note that I don’t work this tractor hard and at full throttle anymore.

@Pullstart and @Jeff-C175, yes I did get my figures wrong… the only thing I can figure is I was somehow seeing gal/m instead of gal/h… Remind me to not figure fuel needed for an airplane flight…

I messed up 2 before I got one in… someone on here recommended installing it backwards, so I did. The problem I had was the edge of the metal part of the seal would catch on the transmission case. Mine is working fine backwards and besides, the oil level barely gets that high anyways…

I have the C-195 and the later one based on the 300 series. I could not find the later one and ended up buying a new spirit of oliver pedal tractor and had it painted red and had decals made to match my 50th anniversary 314. I'll try to take a couple pictures tomorrow depending on the weather. I do have a picture of the pedal and 314 side by side I'll have to look for. Here is a picture of the C195 and the show in 2016. Funny story about the 195, I bought that on ebay and had it shipped. The seller shipped it on a grey hound bus. My inlaws picked it up at a bus stop not too far from their house.
