That's what's so great about the forum and it's members. Got a problem or a question, just ask. You get a lot of ideas and advise, which saves you time, trouble, and trial and error. Even searching for parts and what not. 100% the best forum ever.

Everyone loves a perfect, unmolested machine. Unfortunately at this point in history, they are getting more rare than ever. So I have my own personal code: First, it belongs to you. Nobody has the right to tell you what to do with it. (As much as converting tractors to off-road rock crawlers and buggies makes me cringe, the rule still stands). Second, it's far better to modify a tractor and keep it alive than to put it away and never enjoy it. Museum pieces belong in a museum.

I actually messed up when I started the 2nd tire and just continued the pattern. which is why the tires are the way they are. both patterns seem to work equally well. I haven't had either tire lose traction or clog up more than the other.

@jeff lary, If you go to the Kohler website and search using horizontal shaft, single cylinder, Command Pro series and 0-16HP and choose the CH15 and there is a service manual is for CH11-16.

They were available from the dealers ( direct from Toro ) , I still have the original order forms, and one assembled tractor and 2 brand new still in the box. No they aren't for sale. Picture is my son on his about 20 years ago.

I have the C-195 and the later one based on the 300 series. I could not find the later one and ended up buying a new spirit of oliver pedal tractor and had it painted red and had decals made to match my 50th anniversary 314. I'll try to take a couple pictures tomorrow depending on the weather. I do have a picture of the pedal and 314 side by side I'll have to look for. Here is a picture of the C195 and the show in 2016. Funny story about the 195, I bought that on ebay and had it shipped. The seller shipped it on a grey hound bus. My inlaws picked it up at a bus stop not too far from their house.

Hi, my first post. I just got a 314-8 from my friend/neighbor who bought a new JD diesel so he gave me his WH. I'm new to these guys but I love it already! I put the 48" blade on it and it kept dropping down when I had it in the up position so I pulled it apart and found the chassis plate had broken at the lift arm bearing support. I machined a bushing and welded it in place. I have some other issues to resolve but right now I can plow this winter, I'll wait for next summer when it's warmer before I dig into anything else.

The fan gear on the GT-14, 953/1054 operates the opposite way that the fan gear on other do. Nothing is imposable but you would have a job on your hands.

@19richie66 I would let @Pullstart try the 33-mph speed. Flip flop kid is younger, and bones are not a brittle, plus he has hit his head so many times he would not ask for a seat belt or insurance.

Just finished replacing the seal on the brake shaft of Clyde, my 312-8, and the brake lining. Your suggestions and post made a simple job simpler.

Still snowing right along this morning. Official back deck gas grill top measurement is 10". Will be ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ for several more hours. Excellent classic Nor'eastuh storm! Here's a video of the dooryahd... A few pics. Zoom in from above. Note the downward curving poplar tree. These next two were taken one right after the other but the zoom changed the color tone for some reason. Here's another (poplar?) Leaning towards the side deck. 3 sequence pics. 9:45 yesterday morning. Yesterday 3:06 PM. This morning 7:30 or so.

I just have to say that the Evapo-Rust performed excellent for removing the rust. Look at the before and after with no elbow grease what-so-ever.

Those smaller snap rings did stretch a bit to get them over the splines and they can be rotated in the groove but they don't have the 1/16' up and down movement. It the best that I can do. They are getting maximum contact with the splines.

Mom bought an Argo several years ago. A niece of mine was wheel chair bound but loved to fish. She could get into the Argo on dry land, then my brother could drive into the pond so she could fish. Unless you had a trolling motor attached, this thing was like a floating bathtub and each breeze would blow you at will. The 6 tires spinning barely made it maneuverable. That was about the only thing it was used for but served it's purpose. The Argo would beat you up riding on rough ground. I would get a kick out of watching the grandbabies bouncing along. Nevertheless, they never turned down a ride. With the six axles below water level, there was quite a bit of upkeep to it also. We sold it three or four years ago. A fellow whose farm land was separated by a COE lake wanted to cross an arm of the lake without having to go around the arm on county roads. I suggested he use a trolling motor. It was fun while it lasted.

Redirect some of that P220s rear cylinder heat into your cab and you can blow snow in a Tee Shirt. BTW, congrats on the smokin deal.

I did and messed both up; ordering 2 again. I was planning on getting the belts from them also. Can they help pick the belt sizes?

I know a gear reduction steering with forward sweet axle can be swapped over to a lot of other model tractors. The question is can it be done on a GT 14?

Post 75 I'd measured 10". It snowed for several hours after that too. I think it stayed right around that total though. This was VERY DENSE snow. Even our Ariens beast of a snowblower was actually working today.

Well Ed. My apologies on being the bearer of bad news but we failed to get even a mere second of video. I have pics. Best I can do. Hope these suffice. 🤠 Here's the machine beasts of the day. Trina's 867 Pigpen. Our Ariens commercial 24-in walk behind snowblower. The dooryahd in it's post snow removal state. Still a bit more to do tomorrow.

No fluid in the tires. Perhaps in the spring when I get some better rear rims. I have about 320 lb of rear wheel weights. I reach out to Joette at WH Parts & More and waiting to hear back about getting a receiver hitch out to me as soon as possible, hopefully by Tuesday so I can get it on before the next storm. That adds about 65 lb IIRC. Then I have a weight distributing hitch from my 11K trailer that should add about another 70 or more pounds. Hopefully that does the trick. If not I'll figure something out to add more back there. Hard to stop those wheels from spinning but I guess that shows the drive train has some snot to it.

Got the tranny back together! WHAT SHOULD THE BOLTS BE TORQUED TO? I know that I have seen or heard that number some where; just cant remember. I should have writter it down. And got the seals in except for the input shaft seal. Can anyone recommend a common pipe, cylinder, or something to set it?

Looks like it also removed the scoring on the axle, or is that a new axle ?
  38. 2 points
Yes, I have done this before on saw engines to check ring end gap. I suppose if it went to a shop, they would also do the valve seats. Sorry i also did not completely answer 953 nut. The oil I think?? is a straight 30wt non detergent but i cannot swear to that i have it written down in the workshop, I think. It may be 10w30 or even 5w30? it is whatever the owner's manual recommended/ Yes, the Oil breather tube goes from the air filter housing I think to the crankcase, and it is attached.

I sure am glad we have some smart people in here. I can only figure so much before going into overload. I’m Mr. Trial n Error. I figure first gear will give me a nice lower working gear and third will be moving from one place to the other quickly. Watch out at the Big Show cruise

Amazon, Lowes, Walmarts If you want to order a cheap one, An expencieve one you could almost buy two new tires just as cheap. I googled it came up with a sharp chisel and a propain torch

Looks like you have a aftermarket carb on it. I just put one on a 502 and runs really good. Will have the hood off tomorrow to replace a PO BS throttle cable so will get some pics. Ther is a good manual on these motors here so will have to get you that. Second look a H55 appears to be different this is a HH60.

Where does one buy a tire groover? Seems like a great idea.

Tried the new 2 stage blower. When the snow was dry it threw n an incredible arc...was worried about liow flying aircraft. When the rain came and the snow was really wet it still performed well but much decreased distance. Biggest issue I had was spinning rear wheels. I need to get a rear receiver hitch on and add some more weight. Actually got stuck on the wet lawn where I was trying to clear some dog walk paths, that 2 stage is dang heavy.

Isn’t Argo the company that made those 6-wheel amphibious ATVs in the ‘70s? I thought they were extinct. That thing is pretty cool, though. Any idea how much it costs?
  45. 2 points
Actually, if you take out the engine and tear it down and you have a machine shop, you can tear it down and have them do the machining and then put it back together yourself. I did that on a couple of K181's...saved some bucks and learned a lot.

It was red gear oil that leaked out. I packed it with red wheel bearing grease. Thanks I got a smoking deal on this bad boy 1200.00 for everything you see hear plus a mower deck, tiller, blade, disk, a bunch of other stuff, and around 1000.00 dollars worth of miscellaneous spare parts. I can blow snow in a hoodie and stay warm.

I think this was my first trial and it didn't work. The snow forcing the deflector to open bent the wire. I changed it around so the deflector was pulling on the wire instead.
