12 pointsHeard this LOUD BOOM! Something either fell on, or ran into, the house! Ran outside... at first didn't see anything, but came around the corner and there on the ground... "Been dazed and confused ..." Laying on it's side, motionless. Thought it was dead. Nudged it with my foot and rolled it upright. Not dead! And NOT happy! Slowly becoming more alert and aware that some big goofy human was shoving a camera in it's face: Kept messing with him some more, and he stood up with his wing out. Thought it was broken... Nudged his wing with my foot and he folded it in and stood up straight. Really alert now, but apparently not sure What the Hawk had just happened to him! Started stomping my foot around him to see if he would fly... and he DID! Up to a tree branch where he sat for another half hour or so regaining his composure, and finally flew away. I believe he was chasing a bird and understeered a bit and crashed into the picture window on the side of the house. I'm real glad now that I had tempered glass installed a few years back, because he would have been IN the house!

11 pointsThis guy’s senior pictures came back…figured you guys would like these with Comanche in them. Thanks again @Sparky for making this tractor a reality for Caleb. He/we use it all the time for small tasks around the yard. Looks pretty good for being nearly 60 years old and wearing much of its original “clothes”… a kid and his horse! (don’t worry guys—we have the original 8hp on the shelf ready for a freshen up and reinstall at a later date with all the original associated equipment—starter, battery tray, switch, wiring, etc)

6 pointsHey everyone! I’m Matt from Triadelphia, WV. I grew up with my dad having a C-125 then a Toro Wheel Horse 8-Speed and my pap having a B80 before my uncle taking it over. I have always loved these tractors and finally started looking to add to my beginning collection. I currently have several Lawn-Boy push mowers from a 16:1 I just got to a late 98 one, 7 in total and hoping to grow that. My brother called me last night and said his neighbor has a 418-8 that he has restored much of with a side discharge deck. He is wanting $2750.00 OBO. I have attached pictures of it he took for me.

6 pointsWe live in the forest and see these Cooper's Hawks on a very regular basis. Your answer was my first thought as well. That's what I tell people happened to me....
-
6 pointsFor the most part the natives down there look at you like you're from outerspace when you mention Wheel Horses. There are a few though. I probably reduced the population by 50% when we moved beck here

5 pointsI was not born in this land but have come to love it even more than where I was born, for the opportunities and the life that it has given me. I never forget that fact and think of it everyday for I knew something very different. The appreciation , respect and debt we all owe to our veterans is unmatched anywhere else in the world. How different would things be if it was not for their service ,dedication and sacrifice. We seem to forget about it often. When so we should take a look at all the cemeteries in Europe filled with American Soldiers that never came home. A sobering sight that will make us think as to what might have been had they not been there along with many others from many countries. I certainly would have not been here enjoying the fruits of their sacrifice. To them and all the Veterans,THANK YOU.
-
5 points… then I moved a few Horses in front of the camper. Last year, I only had room for 3 tractors under it.

5 pointsBeautiful machine there. I bet it runs as good as it looks. To me 2k isn't unreasonable but would be on the high side. I have paid to little for some and too much for others. What are you comfortable paying for it ? It's an older restoration, no other attachments. I believe 2750 is his I don't want to sell it price. 1500 - 1750 in my opinion would be fair offer.

5 pointsI have been watching this and had also my thoughts whether it was legitimate or not. The appeal was rather vague and I am not familiar with its author. @nylyon explanation clarified it a bit. Here are my thoughts on this. This particular time in my life certainly gives me a clearer perspective on this. I don't know Mike and never had any interactions within the site with him. I have no reason to trust or distrust his current situation. I can however sympathize with his current situation. When things with our health go south in this country they can indeed turn to the worst. Some may say that we should have prepared earlier in life for these situations as far as finances go but it is easier said than done. I find myself all of a sudden without advance notice being seen by five specialists from Oncologists, Hematologists, Brain and Spine Neurosurgeons and everyone else in between. Weekly sometimes daily MRI's, Scans,EMG's blood tests, etc.I may start glowing in the dark any day now.Unlike many however, life has been good to me. I have and continue making plenty of money and I am heavily over insured. I see however the costs associated with my medical care. It is nothing short of armed highway robbery and a monopoly. Even with being over insured everything turns into a fight with the insurance companies. Seems that one almost has to be in our death bed in order for them to willingly pay for anything and then they may also decide that it is no longer worth it.I can imagine my situation had I not been so lucky in life. Essentially one can say that one's rights and dignity as a human beings are stripped from us when in that situation. Sad. So after saying all of that here is my thinking.I want to believe that Mike is a good human being who has fallen in hard times. If not he will eventually be judged by higher "authorities" and any help given will not really do him any good. He has not presented his situation as convincingly as he could but not all of us are good at these things. It is also a very hard thing to do.There are a lot of us in here. This thread has close to 500 views. Even a very minimum donation from each one will be worth much more to him. After all many of us will drop that on a fancy designer cup of coffee on a daily basis. It is not going to change our lives one way or another. I would not walk by a stranger needing legitimate help on the street. Mike has been here a long time. A couple of others here already donated. I will follow that example..

5 pointsVeterans Day is an American holiday but we should honor all veterans from around the world that have helped to maintain freedom.
-
5 points@Jeff-C175 agree with the pictures , had a lot of birds hit the house and picture window , usually r elated to berry tree , alcohol , overload . but that is past now , so it could have been a missed kill shot , and hit the house . pete

4 pointsForgot about this ... really strange weather here for this time of year. Record breaking 70 but today in the 30s. Took the nice weather to turn the garden with a 1067 and a 8 incher that was having some flash rust. As long as I had her out and before greasing the share might as well drop her in the junior field... which never did get done at plow day you light weights... They had no qualms about reaming my rear for opening up the field on the sides instead of the middle @Stormin but never offered to help correct my bad!

4 pointsIt was with with the foot lever hoobie doo stuff that engages the deck Dino. The tractor came with a deck and a front plow but the plow seems complete and works like a champ. I have yet to try and fit the deck up. Leaning towards this gal being a dedicated plow rig. Not a fender brace Bob nor a drift cutter Bill. The rest of you are about as useful as t1ts on a bull...

4 pointsHere is another option. I never buy the "Finished" ones. I enjoy doing the work that they need. Buy one that falls into your comfort zone as to what you are able to fix. You can pick them up much cheaper and fix them up how you like. It's great that you appreciate the quality of these machines. Couple of years ago I picked up a 416-8. Didn't pay alot for it. Did the work it needed. Added a few custom pieces and when it was finished I was proud of how it came out. I wound up selling it but still have the memories of time spent with it. Here are a few before and afters. Nothing wrong with buying one all finished, just something to think about.

4 pointsI put 25x12x12s on the wifey's diesel 520. Got rim blanks from Miller tire, 10" wide. A wide rim will "flatten" the tread, where ATV tires are normally rounded. They fit without lifting or modding anything. And are insane on traction. I thought I had pics, but guess it's the other tractors. Oh, get the bead breaker from harbor freight. I broke tires down that were on since the 60s, Need to work lil at a time, but they will come off....

4 pointsI thought it was the hooby dooby that Cindy is going you use on you head if you keep getting horses.

4 pointsThank you for posting that @Pullstart. Perhaps some of our leaders should watch it for a refresher course on why we have a military and how vital it and its members are to our continuation as a nation.

4 pointsI put the camper away for the winter, with the zero turn and three wheel horses in it…
-
4 pointsThat’s not really my wheel house, but I have a feeling he’ll have a tough time getting that for a restoration done 8 years ago. Were the wearable parts fitted with bushings and greasable points, or was it just painted? Both, many people call restoration. Compared to a brand new tractor of similar price range, this is hands down better. That doesn’t always say it’s worth asking price. Does it have other attachments?

4 pointsseen this on FB sounds like a bargain (I know not what you want but cool) check out the hanging shop lights in the background!

4 pointsOn Wednesday, my grandson's school sponsored a bring a veteran to lunch event. My grandson ask a good friend of mine Tim to join him. Tim went to the lunch and stopped on his way home to say hi. He said there was a WW2 vet there and got to talk to him about the time spent in the the airforce. Impressive to say the least. In this day and age it is so easy to take for granted our freedom. Our men and women fought for us as well as others around the world. Action or not willing and ready. I sure hope the schools continue this tradition as it is a genuine opportunity to know the story and to say thank you.

4 pointsAs much as I would like to leave this system in there, however, due to availability and price of parts, I don't believe it makes sense any more. With a battery ignition system anything is easily diagnosed and replaced quickly at a minimum cost. This is the plow tractor here and had this happened during snow, it would have been a very serious set back for me. I am going to change it. A bit of work considering that I also have to change switch and introduce a solenoid but I will have peace of mind with that system. This happened once before and it was the stator that was burnt when two wires at the rectifier loosened and shorted themselves.Tractor was down for over two months then until I found a stator.
-
4 pointsYea, now that @Racinbob is gone the only two wheel horse shirts I've seen are @clueless and mine . . . except when @rmaynard visits. Fortunately, it is a RED state though (this now means RedFL)

4 pointsI hear ya Sparky. I got a Harley dealer tee from all 50 states and now that I'm retired I wear one every day instead of a company shirt. So I can go fifty days without doing laundry and that not including the tractor shirt collection!

3 pointsThe Local Craft Department has been at it again. Trina made up a couple beautiful pieces over the last few days. For scale the envelope in the pics is 11½ x 9. The first is a sign for the new shop building. The wood is a piece of hemlock she very carefully free-hand sliced off the top of a laying tree with her battery powered chainsaw. It's about a ½" thick on the heavier side. The bear and letters are traced stencil drawings. The coloring is all wood burning with various tips for effects. There's a hanging wire on the back that's offset to account for balance and level set on the wall. This next one is just. .... Well the pics don't do it justice by a large margin. Our friend's birthday was 11/8. Trina wanted to make something special and very useful. This friend very much enjoys scale modeling so Trina made a brush and supplies holder. This friend has a very special attachment to a particular mountain we've shared in our vacation pics. It'll look familiar to some of you. The large brown bump in the middle is Big Spencer Mountain. The pond in the foreground is in several of Trina's pics as well. The small brown bump on the right of the drawn part is Little Spencer Mountain. Here is the how it's done section. This is a hemlock tree base Trina chose for size and shape and cut down. It's maybe 3" across the top face L to R. The area above the red line she carefully shaved the bark to bare wood. The area between the two lines is the inner bark. The area below the blue one is of course still fully covered with bark. She then HAND DREW the mountains and pond using colored pencil and wood burning. All the holes are hand controlled drilling (no drill press). Sizing was done on a "bout right" scale. Both above pieces are soaked in preservatives. @formariz Caz I know you'll really like these and I'm sure many others as well.

3 pointsJust like most of my investments, ain't no big payout for me. Oh well, probably eat the same, sleep the same, may be drink more.

3 pointsLucky me he needs some cash for college and needs to sell the show cultivator set that was on it...
-
3 pointsHelped out a neighbour today cutting up some firewood. He ran the logsplitter and I cut logs up into managaeble pieces. My saw is pretty small but with a sharp chain it performs really well. Made some nice woodchips. Fun day!
-
3 pointsI’m not going to argue, it doesn’t really matter why he’s changing them. It might just be a good time to ignore his actions if you don’t approve of them, or give constructive criticism. Sorry, I just think this topic got pushed too far out of hand for no reason. I’m done now.
-
3 points+ Is yours completely missing? Its round, bout 4" in dense rubber with 4 holes - 2 to pump and 2 to eng. If thats it - and I;m pretty sure thats the part you need, the you just might be waiting awhile, they are really getting scarce. I needed one couple yrs ago and was 2-3 months before one showed up! As luck would have it, a couple more months passed and another popped up on the bay (way overpriced too!) I pm'd the seller and asked for a break in the price and he came down to $125 --- and I jumped on it! just to have a spare. Hopefully one of the guys here on the forum will either have one or knows of one.

3 pointsI respectfully disagree. Not the tierod plate. Perhaps part of an accessory that was on the 502 at some time?? It does resemble a drift cutter for a snowblower, eh?? Bill

3 pointsBut first it needs to go through the doo-hicky and get torqued to the watchamacallit... then, make sure you...

3 pointsThanks, we built the house about ten years ago. My wife fell in love with the mountain chalet look so that was the inspiration. Being in the woods it is hard to get a good picture from the outside. Can't even see it when leaves are on the trees.
-
3 points12 Volt test light is a 9 volt bulb with resistance. You measured 2 volts earlier and that would hardly light the bulb. Plus the resitsance would drag the little bit of voltage down further .A digital meter has a tiny resistance and can read voltage down to the tenths
-
3 pointsREBUILD THE EXISTING Also replace every single inch of your fuel line if you haven't done so within the last three or four MONTHS.
-
3 pointsNo doubt he knocked himself out. Glad to see he was all right though he probably won't come near your house an time soon! We live in the woods and have some large clerestory windows in the living room. Several times a month a bird will knock itself silly by flying into a window, guess they think they can fly right through.

3 pointsInside the Trigger there is a "switch" When the switch is open, power flows to the coil primary, This is your 14 volts. When it closes, it creates a path for the 14 volts to ground inside the trigger. This stops the flow to the coil and collapses the primary circuit which induces the secondary high voltage spark. I think the switch in the trigger is faulty stuck closed. Removing the wire at the coil and checking voltage with a meter would give an easy path to ground. Voltage from the stator would flow from diode 2 to your meter. When that wire is connected to the coil it has to fight thru the coil primary resistance to ground so it flows thru the closed switch. Crank the engine and with a test light or analog meter, see if the light flashes or the meter pulses when cranking on the wire from the trigger at the coil..
