Yep, 1961 model 401. Has the wrong foot rests but every thing else seems to be there. Runs like a top but jumps out of third so the tranny will need some attention.

I didn’t do much with the horses today. In prep for the eventual winter (75 degrees today) The boys each towed some of their project mowers out to the back lot. Alex with the new B-100 and Aiden with his 856. I did have to help Alex when the fuel pump died on the B-100 in the back yard. Ended up gravity feeding the carb while I walked next to him holding the gas tank up in the air to get it back. Opened the fuel pump and it’s a huge mess. It definitely had water in it at one point.

Too windy today for leaf duty, ( wind advisory, 60 mph gusts ). So what is a hard working man supposed to do? Perfect excuse to feed my addiction & go pick these bad boys up! This afternoon Trina painted both small doors and one large front door. We got the sliding compound miter saw and its table moved to the new building and I cut 2 kick plates out of PT then installed them. The kick plates will protect the copper flashing.

Cleaned up a couple hubcaps for an upcoming project. Their not perfect but will be good enough for my needs. The 8" had a dent I had to smooth out. Before After

Essentially the process has been used for ever but using carpenters glue instead. The draw back to filling imperfections this way is that the glue seals the wood wherever it is applied. If piece is to be stained or finished that area will not accept the drain and it will always be very noticeable. For large damage such as in the corner of board it’s always better to fit and glue an actual piece from the same board. Cool because it’s easy but yields less than desirable results.

Recreation center behind my house rents out building for parties etc when pool is closed. I keep gates closed to keep out rift raff and other individuals. Gates aren't locked just closed. Car pulls up at 8pm Friday night takes pin head 1/2 hour to open gates. Saturday morning car pulls up to gates , dumb and dumber can't get gate open. Saturday afternoon rocket scientist open gates and party is on. Sunday morning gates open so I close them. While I take nap , some one opens gate. Railroad track just pass gates . About 6 :00 PM cleaning up kitchen I notice car has taken right turn on railroad tracks ( not the first time it has happened ) . Train has not run down tracks , but almost time for it. Cars pull up behind car stuck on tracks. Larry Moe and Curly , Little Rascals surround car ( sounds like all are drunk ) I am standing on deck in the dark laughing my a$$ off. Finally Rocket scientist arrives on scene , gives order lift up car and push car back on road. Two or three pin heads fall on track. Get car back on road and all drive away. Finally rocket scientist closes gate . While I am typing this , someone pulls up to gate gets out with big flash light , goes to railroad track where car was parked . Don't know if person was looking for teeth or car parts. Going to recommend to Rec Center head Poobau they give IQ test to renters or DNA test to see if ancestors of renters has brother and sister producing off spring. This actually happened nothing made up.

The BBT and I took a nice 6.7 mile mountain bike ride this morning. Mostly dirt road time. Old cart roads from the early 1800s. We found an absolutely excellent granite rock bridge over a small stream. My blue bike is a 1988 or 89 Shogun Trailbreaker I. Bought it new. That was the last year of manufacturing before the derailleurs and brakes were changed to a cheaper type. One of the reasons I've never sold it. The other one is a 90s Trek full aluminum frame. It has a Super low first gear. Made specifically for climbing over extreme terrain at very low speeds. Got that free when I bought this house. Trina has adopted that machine because it fits her well. I have one like it on a C-160, no brace, nice & light, sounds & works great! Got it at a garage sale, sat in the garage for years, same part numbers too These are nice too...

On the subject of filling wood to hide a fastener the result of such decision is more often than not much more obvious and unsightly than if fastener was exposed. We all know a casing for example was nailed in. Careful precise locating of nail along with careful setting and leaving it that way yields a better result than hiding it with putty. Most times the filler will show up through paint anyway and if piece is stained it will never accept stain the same way. Most smear the putty way past actual hole leaving a larger area that will always look different. If filling is a must in those instances a wax stick of the proper color is best after piece is finished. The filling of nails is a modern practice which is a mistake.It is almost always better to leave them exposed or even accentuate the fact that they are there. The advent of the powered nail gun was essentially the end of the fine art of fastener placing and the overuse of filler. Now one just indiscriminately peppers the piece with too many nails ALL placed where they should not be. A nail is an honest efficient way of fastening something. There is no shame in leaving it exposed. As a matter of fact in stained work by careful planned placing it can by itself be almost unnoticeable.

When I was building a cherry cradle for my second grandson, I could not find a wood filler that I liked, so I saved my sawdust from the project and mixed it with hide glue. I found that it dried without shrinking, was hard to see after sanding, and was easy to stain. A little side note; when my grandson was helping me sort through some bins of miscellaneous stuff in the shop a couple of weeks ago, he found a small glass bottle of light brown powder. Turned out to be the sawdust that I had saved from his cradle.

Sometimes I take a picture of things that are hard to see and blow them up. Perhaps if you take a picture of the faded numbers, blow it up, and post it here we can see them better.

It's great that you're having good luck on the cheapos. Just wasn't my experience. FYI. Isavetractors does sell an import replacement carb with the choke cable the right way. I've seen 2 so far. They seem to work well. For the price of them I'd still rebuild an original one but the option is there.

Waldo started out at 9:30 AM with 310-8 with Trac Vac system , eating leaves . Everything find for a while except unloading and dumping Big Brute trash can full of grounded up leaves and grass. All of a sudden front end front end pops up in the air. Shut down tractor and 5 hp Briggs . Mule drive fell off . What the What ! Never had that happen. Drive belt under rims of pulley. Out comes big 1 1/8" wrench remove cover , get belts back where they belong . Can't see why mule drive fell off . Back to work cleaning front yard of leaves , knob for shifter decides to unscrew and fall down in tunnel . Son of a witch , can see knob but don't have monkey fingers to get it.Finish with leaves, Waldo really hates the Big Brute Trash can ! Got to be a better way. Get wrench out remove cover to tunnel , knob still there so is big pile of leaves and dirt. Get small shop vac out, no suction. Pull apart , and clean everything with air. Might as well pump up tires on neighbor large hand truck to move stuff off deck. Air going in just as fast as air coming out of tires. Back to What the What ! Come in house take a shower , eat lunch. Two large marble pot that Mrs. El insisted had to be moved from dead aunts house in Queens, NY to our house in 2000. (Younger man then. ) have to be moved off deck. Get my hand truck with hard rubber tires and wide board to get those %^&*() pots off deck. Move more stuff , check thermometer 85 degrees Only 2:00 PM enough for today. Going to take another shower later. Does that mean I can skip shower tomorrow. In 1992 when we purchase house on 3/4 acre lot in nice neighborhood with a lot of big old oak, hickory and gum sure was pretty. Not so sure now. Tree removed in 2021 was 30 inch diameter 1 foot off ground. Lot of leave production from trees that size , and that was one of the small ones. Waldo needs a nap.

That rear disch deck model 05-42MR02 will hang on most any Horizontal shaft engine Wheelhorse / Toro made from 1973 to the last model year. (Will work on 1972 & older tractors if the belt drive system on THAT TRACTOR is modifed.) It has the pretty-much universal Tach-O-Matic attachment setup. Suitable for 10hp or more engine. It can also be converted to work on tractors with Vertical Shaft engines.

Floor is now sanded to its extreme. The part with the groove now has been sanded to the point that the upper wall of groove is paper thin. As one steps on those areas more will break. Actually a bit dangerous. A large sliver of that in your foot is a painful thing. I have repaired numerous floors like that. All loose and breaking pieces removed and a long skinny Dutchman fitted in and glued. Only that part was refinished to match floor. Filling an area specially a large one with sawdust mixed with glue is never a good idea. It is not a structurally sound repair. It will not adhere properly to the surface it is mated to. It will eventually break off. There are epoxy fillers which are better for that.a properly fitted Dutchman of the same wood species is always a better option.

Waldo don't wear short pants , bony knees. Waldo wake up at 8:30 not good got stuff to do. Oh stupid government only 7:30 AM . Move to put on long pants , every joint sounds like Rice Krispies (SP ) . Waldo can't spell. Turn on coffee pot , blow nose looks like leaf dust has moved in permanently . Coffee finally ready , take 6 morning Rx's then light tobacco stick. Only thing smell better is gas and oil. Get paper and decided outside is better, then news. Only 68 degrees , decide to move leaf eater back in stable. Click click , look at solenoid , brown weld ( don't tell squonk , he bust Waldo's chops).Get stool and tools , crud solenoid held on by regular nut and bolts. Have to take plate off to remove solenoid . Brown weld everywhere . Write note buy vinegar at Wally World . Find small bottle of rust remover in kitchen cabinet ( write on note make 2 it bottles oh heck 1 small bottle and one gallon, make it 2 gallons ( good weed killer) Back to work rattle can tops good holder for nuts and bolts and vinegar. Everything bubbling. Put out Mrs. EL wooden ironing board , c clamp and grinder. Neighbors look out crazy old man making noise again . Waldo here first , best friend who died in 2007 passed the finger of authority to Waldo . Grind away brown rust and spray rust sealer on it hang up to dry. Back to leaf eater, look at everything and decide tomorrow be better day. Use lift lever to get up off stool thumb hit button on top of lever , deck falls on foot. Naughty words fill sky. Now about 75 degrees . Remove final piece of lattice work. Okay all down , where to stack out of way. Got 2 pallets behind shed move around to yard , 6 bricks platform made . Move all plastic lattice from frames, oh crud frames made of 2x4's , lattice on platform first . 2 x 4 's hauled by hand to platform many trips . Can't use tractor and wagon to haul 2 x 4 's wagon full of c##p from yesterday. Walk about 10 miles , get tarp to cover leaf eater , bungee cords about worn out. Make note , Chinese bungees from HF . Finally use rope to tie tarp down. Time to put tools away. Waldo smart always pile tools by tobacco sticks. Now about 80 degrees everything put away and shed locked up . Walk to deck electric blower on deck . Hide under deck , c**p extension cord laying ground leaves will cover up .Only thing on deck for builder to move is grill , Mrs. El potting bench ( made of 4 x4 's deck boards ( 2 men and 3 boys moving job ) and keystone from PA. Mrs. El insisted on bring home. Waldo move keystone tomorrow don't want Mrs El to haunt him. Time to go in house under drawers and tee shirt very wet. Waldo got to wash work out side clothes after washing Waldo. Happy Sunday.

I ordered one of these. I think it should be fairly easy to adapt to the header since I'm going to make it myself. Hopefully I'm not wrong, but it wasn't expensive. And hopefully it's stable enough without using the brace and I'll just cut that part off. If not, I'll fabricate a brace of some kind, I guess. Or try something else.

I'll measure tomorrow, when there is enough light in the stable to see. We've had a little rain recently, so it was not a good day to process the leaves that appeared on the lawn, negating my last round of leaf clean up. Instead, between rain showers, I got one of Clyde, the C-195, front wheels wirebrushed, primed and painted with Navajo White. I figure I'll mount the tires this fall, then shoot another coat of Navajo White next spring using the playing card trick. While I was wire brushing, the high winds that were forecast started. I was rather pleased to watch a large heard of leaves blow across my back yard, across the neighbor's lot and disappear into the woods.

tomorrow is planned for putting shifter knob back on shifter rod ( may use some glue ) . Removal of final piece of lattice and removal of screws that headed snapped off. Where is my first aide kit ? Tune in to this thread for more of same stuff. Wonder what would happen if I moved next door to @Pullstart ?

Before I forget

We used to live in East Lansing, home of Michigan State University. There was a fraternity house a couple of blocks away. Mostly quiet, but they would throw a couple of large parties every year. They were noisy and ran late and parked the neighborhood full of cars. The East Lansing police department had a unique method of breaking these parties up. Around 11:30 at night, a police car would cruise through the neighborhood announcing that at midnight, illegally parked cars would be towed. Some people left the party. Sure enough, at midnight the tow trucks showed up and went to work. We sat out on the front porch watching the show. Drunk kids pleading with the tow truck drivers to put their car down, more drunk kids stumbling along the sidewalk discussing where they parked their car, drunk kids having a hairy fit because the police actually did exactly what they said they would, and finally, the funniest thing - the group of drunk kids passing the house several times, still looking for their car that had been towed.

It was dark out. You should have wandered over and just stared at them until they saw you. It would have scared the crap out of them seeing you just come out of the fog or mist. Maybe carry a chain saw over there with you. Or just get in the car with them and see how long it took for them to actually realize your there.

@ranger @Horse Newbie y’all are saints! The kids went to town with their uncle today, who showed up the night before last. They got to spend some time in church with mom and dad, and the oldest two might have been able to see Declan, or at least have a little school session to explain things in a way they can understand. Corbin is between Jada and Rylee, Ryker is a year younger than Rylee. These kids are so smart, so well mannered. Almost all of them play the piano, and very well. I’ve had a great time getting snuggles from the little girls, wrestling with the boys and learning about their close encounters with a pack of coyotes lately. Wednesday night, one of them whooped a coyote in the ribs with a 4’ stick of 1-1/2” pvc pipe while putting the chickens up for the night. Taylor and I spent the morning working in the parent’s room, cleaning, organizing, she doing laundry, I hanging curtains. They just moved into this property, after renting from place to place since the 2010(?) Nashville floods when they moved down here. We’re so happy for the progress they’ve made, virtually starting over after their move. We stopped into town for lunch and supplies and are heading back now.

Well Matt at least you can use it when you need it. I would say very handy especially the tire changer and rack.

There are plenty of that vintage around so repairs and maintenance should be fine. A to Z Tractor in PA would likely have a good stock of used parts. Is there a particular concern?

Pretty neat set of solutions. FWIW, the superglue (cyanoacrylate) isn’t reacting with the wood as the video title suggests. It’s reacting with the water in the wood. Which is why it sticks so quickly and tenaciously to skin and eyes. The reaction is quite exothermic (liberates heat) and you can see the water vapor coming off the material in some of the shots as a result. At a previous employer, we used a lot of superglue. We bought it in 55-gallon drums. They had to be corked up and vented with dessicant to keep them from turning into a smoldering block of plastic. Spent half the day troubleshooting no left rear running light on my chev. Right side works so not a blown fuse right? WRONG! So after several hours of my life I'll never get back probing harness and taking crap apart no dice. Finally checked fuses and come to find out the left & right taillights are fused separately. Yep blown left side fuse... Who in the he double hockey sticks decided that they need to be fused separate. Had to be some stupid over educated engineer who thought things need to be so complicated and wiring harnesses need to be the size of an elephant's trunk?!? Come to find out they got fuses in there that blow when your ... never mind family site.... Kinda my own stupid fault after pulling a trailer with questionable wiring but still. Gimme old school stuff where one fuse ran it all. OK thanks for the rant I'll step off my now and go work on a litte red tractor that is so simple!

With the help of our friend Kyle we heated up the block and we’re able to get the old Broken exhaust off and then my dad and I put a new one on.it was so much quieter and I got to drive it.still lots more to do.
