17 pointsTook advantage of the beautiful PA fall weather and the boys and I took a nice long ride over the hill to check out the scenery!

12 pointsI told my wife this is it. And it will be unless a Pond senior drops in my lap for next to nothing Yeah, like that’s gonna happen. So I was offered this D200 and some misc parts. I drove to Pine Grove, Pa and met up with Brian (SuperC4me) to get my treasure. Unloaded and reloaded, ate some lunch and hit the road. Left my house at 3am and got home at 9:40 pm. Very tiring but beautiful scenery. I ended up with a D200, 418-A roller, spare D transmission and pump, a Kohler M10 engine and two steering columns from different brand tractors. A good haul. A big thanks to Brian for making it happen. I got it running this morning but she won’t move. I see some transmission work is in my future.

9 pointsSince the time spent maintaining our pool was becoming much greater than the time spent actually using it, we decided to abandon it. I've been afraid to get estimates on removal, but eventually I'll have to bite the bullet. Since backyard skinny dipping is now a thing of the past, we no longer need the Leyland Cypresses that used to give us privacy (before I let them get out of control), or the 'temporary' fabric fence I put up about 10 years ago to fill in the gaps in the hedge, so I'm cutting down the Leyland Cypresses and using the pool as a burn pit. The last time I burned, the flames got high enough to get close to some dead branches hanging over the pool, so I decided to cut them back. Putting a ladder on the fence put quite a bit of stress on it. Wheel Horse to the rescue! It's always been versatile, but until now, anchor was not on its resume. anchored to the Horse, the fence was solid as a rock. Job well done.

8 pointsMe, Trina, and our friend had us a long drivin' load em up n run whirlwind of a weekend. Thanks to @Herder @Handy Don and @ri702bill for supplying tractors, parts, food, drinks, and great conversation. Awhile back Herder had mentioned that he had a 1974 C160 with the Tecumseh engine. He felt I should have it and give it some care. We also picked up a seat bracket that I REALLY like the look of for Colossus. Got a nice solid set of disc harrows. And a 6 speed transmission with Limited Slip Differential for one of Trina's tractors. A few weeks ago Handy Don sends me a link to an ad for the 1045. He was gracious enough to get it to his house for Trina and store it til we could get out there for it. Saturday morning we arose at 5 and were on the road by a little after 6 am. Stopped in Highland NY enroute to Don's place in Croton on Hudson. Buzzed out to Southington Connecticut for the sleepings. This morning we went to W Warwick RI to visit with RI702 Bill and pick up one of his VERY well made greaseable hitch pins. On the road again up 95 495 93 125 16 25 and Home!! Here's a few pics from the journey... Special thanks to Adam (Herder) for this seemingly tiny token. Trina spied this gem in one of his parts tractors I took a hood from... She says to me "Oh! I can't forget a pic of my Prized Possession!" She hadn't seen a real live vintage Wheelhorse key til now. All told we traveled 735 miles. That was a LOT for me. We're home safe n happy and the trailer's covered over til we need it again or the 1045 gets unloaded for her to dismantle.

6 pointsI used clothesline rope for traction on my first car, a 1930 Dodge with wooden spoke wheels with 5.00X19" tires. I just wound the rope around the rear tires thru the spokes. That car never let me set even in the monster snows we got in the 1950s in Somerset Co.,Pa.

6 pointsSpeaking of tractors and promises… I pinky promised Mrs. P thatI wouldn’t touch the JD backhoe until our bathroom is finished. I need to trim and hang a new door still. 2? 3? Years later. Still haven’t touched that ‘hoe!

6 pointsThrough on the decals, and attached my “key guards” for the fenders Think over all it turned out decent. Wish the paint was a little more durable though. Could be its just not fully cured, but its been weeks now. Is what it is. Working on that International Cub I picked up mid summer. Considering having that powder coated, cause Its getting colder, and to be honest the sandblasting was miserable work. So mainly Im gonna have that done, then see how much to powder coat. If the price is right, and it turns out well, I might just have the B-80 tins powder coated if the paint does not hold up well enough.

5 pointsHope you are all doing well! Thought id share the highlight reel from our ride at Good Evening Ranch offroad park a couple weeks ago. This group was pretty much the hardcore crew, names like Mr. Studabaker, Creepycrawler, Redzz02, Hot Lap, Be Destructive, Redneck Tractors, Thierys Tractor Ranch, and others. Hurricane Ian drenched us, but we powered through it and had a blast! A keen eye and ear will pick out my 'B-1 bomber' with that healthy 20.5 Briggs opposed twin. Wheel Horse strong!!!

5 pointsI recently bought a Yanmar subcompact tractor, but the wheel horses still get used. this past weekend i dethatched, swept up the thatch, and then pulled the core aerator all over the yard and spread grass seed. i used the 312-8 with turf tires and it was the perfect machine for pulling my AgriFab implements. gear drive still excels for when you need a slow and constant speed. i was in 3rd gear Hi, slightly off idle and it was exactly the right speed- set it and forget it. you can lug a Kohler M12 all afternoon and it won't complain.

5 pointsI found these yesterday when I returned from an outing... on top of my trash can outside my garage. In the original 'hat box' they came in from 1960 or so. Of course, can't use this style with wheel weights on, but the cross chains are exactly the same as the ones on my 4 links that I use on my tractors. There's just enough cross chains to turn my 4 links into 2 links! So I started taking them apart (much as I hate to cannibalize original stuff, but they were useless to me as-is). There are 10 links across, need only 8, so I'll either let the extra two 'hang' or maybe cut them off. Got a text from a friend later asking if I found the present that he left. Found them in his barn.

5 pointsCleaned and coated one gas tank and will be coating a few more. The red color you see inside is the “Red-Coat” coating. I probable could do 3-4 more tanks with this quart can I cleaned the inside of the tank using a hand full of drywall screws and strapped to a tractor wheel for a while. Then a vinegar soak overnight followed by a water then lacquer thinner rinse.

4 pointsPicked up my latest acquisition today as mention in, They do breed. - Wheel Horse Tractors - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum 1974 Wheel Horse B80. 3 speed transmission. Short history. Imported into the UK June? 2015 by a gentleman in South Wales. It was registered for road use September 2015. It was sold on to a friend of mine 2018 - 2019. Sadly he passed on recently and his widow has sold it into my keeping. Starts and runs nicely. Tyres are like new. I don't think the steering wheel is original or even if it's Wheel Horse. It's all plastic and a bit loose on the column. That may get change for one I have off a '75 Raider10. Attention is required to the clutch. Drives ok on the flat but slips if under load. Belt feels a bit slack and I think a new/stronger spring might be needed. Or the belt is a tad too long. Has a new one fitted. Some other things to attend to but nothing serious. The trailer that came with it is a bit rough. I'll tidy it up and as it's the same type as the one I already have, it'll get sold on. Maybe!

4 pointsNice thing about 3d printing... ya can make just one! Lol actually an inversion of the existing steering wheel inserts may work? Would be kinda a stamped design. Could also just do the head and wheel outline with the hub stamped in a bit.

4 points@19richie66 Does any of the hydraulics work? Just wondering if you have a tranny or pump issue. Also, did you check the tow valve to see if it was open?

Sockets & Pins: You can also choose variations of pin sizes and types. There are gold plated pins as well. The more specialized, the more expensive. There is also a custom built tool for crimping pins and sockets. For those of us who work on a lot of wiring or maybe have a little more money to spend, this tool is invaluable. You pay for quality. There are other tools that are slightly cheaper and work as well. This tool makes this crimp job exceptionally quick and you cannot pull the pin/socket off the wire. This is a 4-jaw crimp tool. 3 pointsEveryone knows that a miter is a relatively simple thing to do. Wether using a powered miter saw or a hand operated one it is a straightforward thing to do as long as it is on the end of a board. A long miter on the edge of a board however is a not so simple thing to do . I am sure many of you tried it on for example a table saw and found that it is not only a precarious operation but also that it does not yield good results. Regardless of the side of the fence you attempt to cut it there is always lots of binding and burning. If board is not perfectly flat miter will also not be accurate. I always do long miters by hand using a plane. I have made them up to ten feet long this way. Plane is assisted by an adjustable guide that will adjust to 45 degrees or anything in between. It is a stress free operation with full control over the results . Sometimes one wants a mitered joint to be somewhat more or less than a perfect 45 and with this method adjustments of 1/64” are done in one pass with precision by merely adjusting the blade tilt on plane. Plane guides I use are over 100 years old but can be found relatively easily. My favorite one is made to be used with a wood plane. It’s used on a plane I had since I was 20 years old and one of my favorite tools. When not in use guide is removed. They are also available for metal planes. Another example how a somewhat complex operation with power tools can easily be accomplished better with no drama using simple common hand tools with better predictable results. Jointer Gauge attaches to wood plane Jointer Gauges for wood planes are rarer They were mostly made for metal planes Gauge holds plane comfortably at right angle very small adjustments can be made by just tilting blade within plane a very satisfying and controlled process End result a perfect miter predictable perfect results. Miters can be simply glued by using masking tape as a clamp Full contact on both sides throughout entire length The only clean up to contend with . No flying dust on your face, no danger to fingers.

3 pointsThe tow valve is closed. I did back it out and reseat it. The hydraulics do work. Not sure how fast the lifts are supposed to work. It seems slow but both cylinders do work. When I move the motion lever, it does move a hair forward or backwards and then stops. Makes a strange gurgling/grinding noise. I checked the parking brake lever to make sure it was off. Fluid is full and clean with newer filter. Thinking something inside the drive motor has wet the bed. I’ll pull the drive motor and check it.

3 points@Pullstart something I do when installing chains is to add a spring pull , near the hook up point , so as the chain settles in it can constantly get where it wants to be . chains obviousely can't stretch but their happy spot can be helped with a constant chain pull spring . once found ,then a cross spring pull , on diameter , keeps them happy. pete

3 pointsYes sir he did, and that little bit makes a huge difference for hill stability. Check out his youtube 'Hot Lap' for how he did it, its pretty cool! They keep pushing me to do a stretch as well as a few other things, but I am trying to keep it as much 'tractor' as possible. I could literally unbolt a few add ons and the B-1 could go back to a factory machine in an afternoon

3 pointsThat interview with Hot Lap about the Charlie Horse was interesting. @ebinmaine he stretched his 3-5/8”. Pretty good conversation. (Colossus)

3 pointsSomewhere someone on this site might have an old bottle of Wheel Horse HY Oil #4822 that Wheel Horse HY Manuals and dealers used as “the oil” to place in the HY units. I do not think Wheelhorse used atf in the HY units. I believe it was more like 30 weight oil. I now use Lucas hydraulic fluid in mine but I actually think it is too thin. It tends to seap even on new seals etc on a unit. I have an old bottle of the Wheel Horse two cycle motor oil for snowblower’s. I attach a photo as I believe the Wheel Horse dealers used this same plastic bottle for HY fluid. I will also bet Wheel Horse was one of the first companies to use a plastic bottle for oil ! Anyway maybe this will stir up some more debate today amongst the HY unit owners and users!

3 pointsYesterday morning went and collected the B80. Afternoon swept up leaves. AGAIN! Sat here this morning watching more leaves being blown off the trees by 40mph gusts. You'd never think I'd cleaned up yesterday. I'm off up to the farm now. Maybe the Leaf Elves will have cleaned up when I get home.

2 pointshardener if used as the manufacture suggest 4-1 , 8-1 ect , would only improve drying time , Hardener in general on single stage type paint do 3 things they give the paint more chip and scratch résistance , they enhance the gloss value of the paint ,and lesson curing time . oil based paints in general have a long cure time because as most single stage paint they rely on air and temperature , so ambient temperature plays the biggest roll on drying times , and also as for oil base RED pigment takes the longest to cure (dry) . So if you want it to dry / cure faster you will need to get it above 75 degrees .
