    SWMBO returned from brambling, (Picking wild black berries.) and as she walked in said, "There's one of Kenneth's cows loose". "Big black and white one". So off I went to have a look and go to the farm and let them know. I could see no sign of the cow up either of the lanes so walked round to the farm. BTW it was milking time. As I walked into the yard there stood the cow. The rest of the herd were in the holding yard. They have just got two Kelpie pups and one was at the milking parlour door and came to greet me, so I gave the cow hardly a glance. Unable to get into the parlour due to it being full of cows being miked, I went and joined the pup at the door. It was while pup and I getting better acquainted the cow came closer. Mmmm! Eventually the farmers son came out and we got the cow back with the herd in the holding yard. Back home Carol's face was picture when I told her it was really a BULL that she'd met.

    We have available a completely restored 42" side discharge deck, model # 78345. Starting with a clean solid deck, all pieces were sandblasted, the carrier assembly and rear axle were powder coated for durability. The deck shell was epoxy primed and professionally painted and baked on using all top of the line PPG products. The underside was then coated with an industrial type bedliner which is hard and durable (not thick and rubbery like many spray in liners ) . All the wheels, rollers, bearings, nuts, bolts, hardware, springs, bushings, bearings, blades, the belt, are brand new. This essentially a better than new deck with a much higher quality / more durable finish than new. Put on your showroom quality restoration, or put it to work for another 30 years.     The body of this will look familiar to a few of you because I've already shared it through p.m. and text. Then, this morning... I suddenly realized through a great and wondrous epiphany that I should share this with the entire group in a desperate search for solidly intellectual quantitative moral support. This all started yesterday afternoon when Ray @grinchsr indicated he would graciously and generously offer to drive all the way from Connecticut to Maine to help thin out my Herd because I have FIVE C160s. Then I realized.... ******** I do have 5 C160s, yes. 2 manual transmission Kohler powered, 2 manual transmission Tecumseh engines, 1 Kohler Automatic. And... Ummmmm.... I forgot I also just got a C165 8 speed Black Hood. And it gets worse... I'm also lookin at getting another Tecumsehorse... And.... Another purchase that BBT and I are in on... Is a K341 Magnum powered machine. Oh noooooo.... That's 8. And there are others... The Colossus project. @JCM Jim's 417A two into one project. Ariens S16H. I MAY have a problem. 🐻

    Hey guys, just wanted to say hello. I finally picked up a 520H after wanting one since I was a kid. Its the 1996 Anniversary model too which is the one I wanted. I quickly grabbed 2 carts, plow, and single stage blower as well. I look forward to being part of this forum and already came across a bunch of really helpful topics here. Posting some pics below

    Upgraded my 246H from reflectors to led tail lights, but I discovered a broken lift point on the mower deck. I'll be welding that up later today.

    I believe it was purchased…. Bob Rock / Rock and Son Fabrication out of central Michigan (where I got my first Wheel Horse in 2013) built many various articulating machines.

    Engine is a Briggs & Stratton, model number in this range. (253400 thru 422700 and 460700, 461700-461799) Identified by the fuel pump with the 3 screw cover. If you have the tins, the exact model number should be stamped into them.

    Working on a few general maintenance items in preparation for the new PTO bell and clutch when it arrives. My PTO brake pad was all worn down so I cut a piece of of an old brake pad from my wife's Camry and riveted it on. Bill

    My amazing little artist has been at it again. The wonderful woman who officiated the wedding of Trina's daughter and now son-in-law recently was just fantastic. Dyan was quite taken aback by the general attitude and super chill demeanor of all... incredibly impressed with the life Trina and I lead... The things we've accomplished. Especially Trina, of course. Dyan absolutely fell in love with our house and yard. She wrote out the vows by hand with the help of all of us. Drove 45 minutes each way to get here. Took care of all the legal mumbo jumbo for the wedded couple including filling out and filing paperwork with the town. We asked what the fee would be. She replied ... I won't take a single cent and that's absolutely non negotiable. Well... Trina decided that deserved a very special thank you. I cut a 17" diameter slice off a dead hemlock and she went to workin'. First drew out a pencil line of the layout. Then burned it. Followed that with a BUNCH of coats of boiled linseed oil. Some colored pencils. And in the next few days it'll get a bit of polyurethane. The phrase on the back was done at the request and wording of the receiver. And for Trina's mom... We found a small piece of driftwood when we were up north last week... Trina burned in the name of the nearest named township. Kokadjo.

    Eb... just think of this. I live in the city. I never have any need to put any of my tractors to work. I have a small city lot,, I don't even mow with my Horses. Right now I have 3 I keep in my garage. You on the other hand live in a beautiful wooded area and put your Horses to work. Either plowing snow, chipping wood, hauling wood, hauling stone... etc. So if I'm comfortable having 3, and I have had up to 5 at one time. You clearly can have 6 or 7 MORE with no problem at all.

    I took the deck off the big tractor cause I gotta patch 2 thin spots and if it’s in my sons way maybe he’ll fix it. 😁 I had to go nose to nose to see the drop.

    I’ve been brainstorming. I don’t need any more projects. I’ve got the bus listed for sale, but apparently there’s not a huge demand for them. It runs and drives wonderfully at 134,000 miles. I wouldn’t actually put a gun to it, but it’s a bulletproof 6.7 Cummins engine and Allison transmission combo. The Allison is physically about the same size as the one that was in my Texas truck, the engine donor for Norman with a blown transmission. So I have a rust free Chevy 2500HD with no engine or transmission in it. I have a great diesel drivetrain in the bus with no serious offers on it. I wouldn’t mind scrapping about 28,000 lbs for some project capital (right around $2,000 scrap value). Best part, THE NAME! CummINS chEVy The CEVINS (Kevin’s). Could it be? Should it be? Sounds amazing! The wiring doesn’t scare me. The fabrication doesn’t scare me. The time required kind of does but it doesn’t need to be done quickly. I even trimmed a wire harness for the Subaru buggy project in my bedroom one time (after I was married to boot!)!

    While sitting here recovering from Covid, I decided to continue with rebuilding some old Carter carburetors that have been sitting around for years. I know that this is an old thread, but what Brian said above is probably the most important, and most missed part of cleaning or rebuilding a Carter carburetor.

    yep @Ed Kennell I think Im on a roll now LOL sill trying to figure phone out I think thats the culprit on not getting pics to laptop taking it to verizon maybe they can tell me something thats not right or turned off or something ??? who knpws Thank-You and evryone for the help man you guys are lifesavers !!!!!

    Will the trunnion fit but the pin is too big for the hole? You will get a lot more lift from the lower hole but I would use a smaller pin rather than drilling out the hole.

    You can drill and tap the deep pan to use on a WH easily. Just don't attempt this without a drill press... 1. Remove the oil pan. 2. With a 1/8 bit in a drill press, drill the two right side tapped holes from the top all the way through. The factory holes have a taper in the bottom that will center the 1/8 bit. The smaller bit won't harm the threads. 3. From the bottom side of the pan, drill the two new holes half way (up to the factory threads) using a 5/16 bit. 4. With a 3/8x16 tap, start at the top of the pan, "chasing" the factory threads. Thread all the way through, and you now have a WH pan. Back the tap out several times and clean the shavings as you go. It not only keeps the threads sharp and clean, but makes tapping easier. As with any tapping goes, don't force it. Keep the tap lubed and clean and take your time. Cast iron taps pretty easily. 5. Clean the pan very well and reinstall with a new gasket. You can now use the factory frame holes and bolt the engine directly to the frame.

    Hello all I live in Norway and have now bought my first Wheelhorse, its a restauration prodject i have just started with. Found this tractor in an add on fb sold in the neighborhood, and wanted to save this tractor, i have used days (and nights) searching the web for pothos to try to identify the type with no luck... Hope you can help me. The main issue right now is to find the correct startermotor for the Kohler engine (startermotor was missing when I bought it). The engine in mounted with shavt pointing aft connected to hydrostat with axle. Hope someone can help me with this. Attached pict.

    Today? Hmm... I just took pictures today. But I've been working on this for years now. I actually cannot believe it myself that this pile is gone. You can see the BIG pile in the background of this picture. Dozens of stumps, trees, logs, brush, everything you can imagine in that pile. Roughly 70+ feet deep into the woods, 40+ feet wide, and over 10 feet tall, stacked together. I threw roughly 3 dozen... thousands of pound stumps into the gulley using my cable puller. The Wheel Horses have been working for this for years as well. Log after log after log. Brush galore. Stump after stump. Fire, chainsaw, tractors pulling... and BOOM. When the pile was here... you can see there is a tree that has been cut. When I cut that tree down, it was in the middle of the pile, and where I cut it was at the very bottom of where I could access it. In other words, the logs were piled up to the point where I cut that tree. There are about 3 dozen stumps like this at the bottom of the gully. This was the last one. This is just a little of the gully area. It goes on like this for around 100 feet down the gully. That area was such an eyesore... it is totally gone now. These things right here... those are some legit bad behinds... SOOOOO freakin' heavy... good thing I have a 10,000 LB cable puller... Don

    Why not, It's more fun to watch from the comfort of a recliner than to sit in an uncomfortable tree stand. The deer do follow a cleared path...they may end up in your yard. Safety issues: I only hunt from tree stands when in developed areas. It is so much safer when shooting from an elevated position. Visibility is better, angle to the ground lowers a chance of ricochet, less chance of you being shot when stationary, game is usually undisturbed and offering better humane shots.

    @Pullstart Kevin, please! please! please! replace the ladder to your deer stand with a metal one. I had a good friend take a bad fall from a wooden deer stand ladder a few years ago. They don't make a bandaid large enough to fix a fall from a deer stand. Ron

    Well the weekend has came and passed but it was productive. I pulled it down the rest of the way to paint starting with the rear hubs and did they put up a fight! I broke about 3 pullers before getting both of them off and had to rig the last one together to get the last hub the rest of the way off. Once it's all painted I'll be replacing all the seals in the transmission because they were leaking from the get go. The lower steering support we tried welding ended up breaking while letting the weld cool so a newly used on is on order. I didn't catch it before I painted but the axle pin hole was also wore out so we welded it up and punched it back out to 3/4". There's been a lot of bent of messed up parts on this old girl and it only has 400 hours on it!

    The 520h is built like a tank. Over sized front axles and the gear reduction steering makes turning effortless. The Onan is smooth and plenty of torque. I like the instrumentation. Not many garden tractors with rpm meters. If you can operate a volt meter and can turn some wrenches they last a long time. Keep the engine clear of debris and don’t spray machine with water. Blow off after each use with compressed air or leaf blower. They hate water.
