All: We have the Hydrangea in full bloom in front of the house. Not exactly the kind you see at nursuries in a 5 gallon plastic pail. This one is over 100 years old and higher than my front porch roof. Lost one of the trunks years ago due to insects and wind. It is ALIVE with a hundred or so buzzing bees, the blooms will turn a crimson brown before they fall. I'm no Arborist, just a homeowner with a hedge trimmer and a telescoping pruner we call Cyndi (Cyndi Lopper !!) to keep it shaped.. Bill

Jay will most definitely be missed. The big W-H show certainly won't be the same without him. RIP buddy.

ezra going marines , late aug , 3RD RTBN -LIMA , wants to be a crew chief on a c130 , aced pre test , my son was in 3rd ranger batt , has been smokin ezra now for months , lots of water /combat time , 2/3 times a week , regular runs , dropped 20 + lbs , looks like barbed wire . dan is going to welding school , with lots of plans , has really developed a mindset to do things , can only suggest things to have in place , very interesting time . wish them the best , but they still have to do it , grampa

Oh no, I just logged on to ask who was coming to the Dover Olde Tyme Days show tomorrow. I was so looking forward to meeting Jay there as we have in past years. This is very sad unexpected news. Jay was so upbeat and pleased to have won his recent battle and had nothing but praise for the care Hershey Medical Center provided. Rest easy my friend.

I posted Jay's trading card from 2018 and a picture I found on the site. I met Jay one Thursday morning in the parking lot waiting for the gates to open. He walked over put his hand out and said I'm Jay or Roadapples on redsquare. He was like talking to an old friend. Glad I was able to talk with him a couple times at the big show.

RIP my friend. Met Jay quite a few years ago at the big show and like Mike, it felt like I made a good friend. Always looked forward to seeing Jay there so I'm gonna miss him. It's sad to loose another.

I spent the last few weeks finding time freshening this RJ up for a show this weekend. I decided a little late but fortunately will have it ready. It’s not going to win any prizes but I’m happy with the results. I still plan on driving it around and having fun with it. If I can’t do that then it’s got to go. It’s been long,long overdue.

RIP buddy .. I had the opportunity to meet with you twice (2016-17) and like Mike said it was like talking with a old friend you knew forever .

I remember cutting off an exhaust system on a car. Hot muffler clamp on the floor and I stepped on it. Smelled something funky. There was a clamp imprint in the sole now!

Sad to hear of this. I met Jay at the first show I went to in 2018. As said by others, he was just like an old friend.

The 953 mount is higher off the ground than the Senior’s. I thought about cutting the flag pole shorter to keep it lower. Naaaaw let’s let old Glory fly high and proud, so long as we”re below 13’6”!

are you very knowledgeable about the fact that the 520-8 is not just another 520, that there were 225 or 226 built ever, and that you’re buying a relic that was manufactured less than the ride away Senior?

I was visiting with friends last night, admiring their United States flag pole. I happen to have a couple new flags for our parade tractors and want to raise them high enough to hopefully stay out of our view. The 953 mount has provisions for the slow moving vehicle sign as well.

I will agree with the Victory Red for use on the late models, it's a great match !

We are working on an engine in a B-80 for one of my pulling tractors (behind me) and we got an awesome delivery from @Bill Winn! It was a hitch! Thanks bill! I’m think of sanding it and painting it to freshen up the look?? I don’t really know much about it and what attachments go to it if anybody knows, it would help lots!

I keep extras in small sizes in my shop (along with eye protection). Deal is when grandchildren enter the shop they go right to "their" drawer with the PPE and shop aprons and "get suited up for fun"!

Oh yes, we're serious about ear pro in this family! Between the '92 Exmark 48" commercial walk-behind and the ported MS311 saw, it's essential PPE. Here's the 3-year old (almost 4) a couple years ago....he wore them pretty much the whole summer.

Hot wheels got new rear tires and wheels for a while. He runs good but has a choke cable issue that is needing attention and possibly some looking at the carb bowl mods needed. That bowl flapper gasket was talked about recently and bumps really make him flood out hard. We’re contemplating turning him into a dedicated plow tractor. But for now, at least the rear wheels match the fronts for Saturday’s parade!

I figured I should start a thread for my 520 so here goes. Earlier this year I happened to pick up a 520-8 that had seen better days but it was a model I always wanted so I made the 10 hour round trip to go and get it. It didn't run or even crank when I got it which turned out to be a bad 9 pin connector and some safety switches so with those temporarily jumped out and a fresh battery the onan came to life had a surge to it and needed choke to stay alive but judging by the color and smell of the fuel it had been many years since it ran. Fast forward to now and some updates in between on the "what have you done to your wheel horse" thread I've been slowly pulling it apart and gathering parts as needed. It has an electric lift that I'm changing back over to manual lift due to preference and the electric lift seems to hit the support of the hood stand. So today I finally got it down to just a frame and axles to start the process of deep cleaning it! Attached below is a picture of the day I brought it home and now.

I am very sad to hear this. I enjoyed talking with Jay. He had a way about him that made you feel like you knew each other for much longer than we actually did. Rest In Peace friend. You will be missed.

Jay sounds like a good guy I would’ve loved to meet him but hopefully he is in wheel horse heaven enjoying himself

I met Sam today, and was honored to use Mitch’s tools to make a nice looking lawn. Surely inspires me to do a better job on my own! I think like his military hair cut schedule, their 2 waters a day is destined for frequent cuttings! Sam sent Mrs. P a nice bouquet of fresh flowers and offered me access to whatever cold refreshments I’d like out of the garage fridge. I spent more time weed whacking than mowing. I thought initially that I could bring Rylee along to mow while I trim, but the big bad Husky with the 60” deck was pretty twitchy and not as easy to maneuver as my 52” Scag. I’m honored to help a soldier while he prepares for and takes his second tour overseas.

Noticed the drive belt on the 856 was sitting very low in the pulley. Went and put a new one on. Takes off like a rocket now. Belt is up where it should be.

I couldn't do that around here I would be going in circles dodging trees. Shows now on the other hand..

@sjoemie himself forgot to tell you the reason. A 12” wheel allows for much more fluid ballast in the tire!

Soooooo, Unicorns don't produce methane when they poop? Guess it is a two stage process, we have to eat their poop and produce the methane for the Unicorns. Lazy critters ain't they.

As you may know, these big wheel tractors came with super heavy duty 4 lug hubs and 15” wheels. The tires were 7.6-15. I kind of figured out that switching to 5 lug hubs and 12” wheels, I can use 27x7.5 or 27x10 -12 UTV tires. These are Interco Interforce II tires, the same company that makes Super Swamper tires for mud trucks.

Jeez I'm going back to bed. I must've hurt something.... Things like this make me afraid of myself! I glanced at the pics, and obviously ignored the words. Kinda like my education apparently.

The correct wheel color is silver not white. Here is my 417 I just finished and is spot on the correct color. Sprayed using gun of course

I spoke to the wife of the soldier today. He is currently stateside training, then will be home for a couple weeks next month, then on to Southern US, then deployed to Syria for a year. They have equipment and she’ll provide fuel, she just needs someone to run it. Sounds like a good motorcycle ride away and some mowing each week. And no hauling my equipment!

Landed a pretty good deal on some Ag tires and rims for my B80 Im semi-restoring. Got the set for $100 rims and tires. tires look to have never seen use. Sure beats about around 100 each for new tires only. now I gotta find some fronts.
