So it is that time if the year again for my annual meet and greet and trail ride. The date will be Saturday October 8th. As usual please bring a reliable rider if possible for the 5 mile ride. Bring whatever you would like to eat/grill at the house and whatever you would like to drink. I have fridge in the barn and will have grill available. We will get started around 10. Please make sure to be here before 12 as we will head out as a group around that time. Everyone is welcome! If you don’t have a reliable rider we will get you on something with wheels! Feel free to ask questions here and/or let me know if your coming. Good to have some sort of head count. I will have soft drinks and some adult beverages in fridge for all. If you need my address send me a pm. Looking forward to a great get together!

I messed up the paint mounting the tires on the small wheels. I figured I’d save myself the headache and mask off the final product for a good coat on the big wheels.

I just returned from the CVA Show in St Thomas, PA, great show, always a good time. I found this NOS Wisconsin Muffler for 8 bucks! Seen them on ebay for 75, insane right? Well, the inlet is perfect for my exhaust on the K241AS, no reduction. I love it as it would give me more clearance around the headlight....

@ri702bill I hear you ! interesting how that amber grease is in just about everything , works well in ceiling fans , no heat or load stress, so why not put it in all bearings ? as said , always try to find a bearing with wide side shield access , no brainer for a hi temp / stress grease swap. my experience with any unit / part failure is , a cause / reason / make it go away , change . the opportunity is right there , so why not do it ? it just does not make sense TO NOT , improve a failure spot , realize this is a challenge for many , not for me , immediately go into a make it bombproof mode . when you look at my mods , you initially cannot see them , until you see the function routing and detailing , bill , glad you did the easy improvement , greasy pete

We've had Wheelhorse tractors here ranging in year from the mid 50s, 58 or 9, early 60s, 66/7/8/9, '70, 73, 74/5/7/8, 86, 87... And now a Black Hood. We've now hit all the body styles. Soooo... It runs and drives. It's rough. It's not likely to stay here. But the price was right. It's probably going to be a donor for several others while I swap some engines around doing rebuilds over the next few months to a year. Also a distinct possibility of the hood being used in some form on Colossus. 8 speed transmission is good. A lot of usable parts including the metal fender pan.

No sealer on the trans gasket and no sealer on the head gasket.

That looks like part of a bearing race, need to knock out from other side with a big brass punch or chisel.

All: My son bought a "new" open box (or returned item) 7" variable speed electric polisher years ago. No instructions included, but it had the polishing pad and reversable side handle, and he got it for a song during a clearance sale. It looks like a full size 7" grinder with the 5/8-11 thread, but only goes up to 3000 RPM. We put it away and kind of forgot about it. Decided to use it this week - man, it was noisy!!! The final gear drive sounded like a garbage disposal full of bottle caps! Pulled the drive apart - all of the foul smelling amber grease inside had been flung off the gears - they were running pretty dry. Removed all the original grease and re-lubed it with @peter lena's favorite Lucas green chassis grease - used it for over an hour, no more rattle, smooth and quiet. I mentioned that the OE grease had a distince unpleasant odor - ran into this at work before. We used a non-contact vision inspection for the presence of grease in our Actuators - the grease had a UV trace in it that would "glow" under black light, but it had a nasty smell. The smell went away once the Actuator was fully assembled and sealed up ...

Ask him to put it in low range, any gear, presuming it will move under its own power ask him to move the selector into high range. the lever can appear to be in high but actually be between gears. Hope this helps.

I Re-used old n broken bench seat and made a tale gate out of it.

Just got this International Harvester Cub 185 where I live with it being dirt road and stuff I needed something stronger to plow snow because my horse can’t do it all once it goes over the blade here in the Appalachians of Pennsylvania, picked her up for $2,000 original paint , redone clutch , original books and paperwork and all dude was the original owner and waxed it twice a year , don’t mind my neighbors stuff in the background had her sittin in the bottom of the yard she’s in the garage now.

It is always a good idea to test and unwrap/inspect a 40+ year old harness. Here is what I found with mine! Literally hanging on by a few strands. How it worked all these years is beyond me. After a quick re-wire/repair/restoration I'm good to go!

The handle of the dipstick is hollow. It vents through the handle. There should be no need for Teflon tape if the plug or trans casing are not damaged.

thank you @gt14rider! Didn't realize there was still some remnant of the old bearing in there. I took this opportunity to remove the bearing on the other side as well and tapped both races out so now I have a clean pulley to start with. I'll also take this 'reboot' opportunity to re-grease the bearings with some Lucas (as well as buy a new bench vise). Thank you all!

Don't you have a deck on the tractor? The mule drive is to transfer power from the horizontal crank and PTO on the engine to the vertical drive pulley shaft on the deck.

The wire with the hook on the end and rubber grommet is supposed to go from the coil negative to the points. Why it's in the location it is is beyond me.

Yup. I've been alerted to several slow leaks by the TPMS over the past few years. My beef is that they make me lazy - the car's computer watches the tire pressure, so I tend to ignore the tires. I'm not proactive anymore. I'll react when the warning light comes on - after something has gone wrong.

Looks like the old Kohler Pepperpot. A bargain two ways - great price for an OE part and it's not made of "Chinesuim" - should give years of service.

Like we do for the big show feel free to post anything you have for sale, trader if wanted in this thread. We have had some members travel a long ways in past years! I personally have a very clean/mint 48” 5xi snow plow and bracket for sale. Looking to get 400 or partial trade towards a 300/400 series 48” snow plow.

Anyone can on the spur of the moment decide to go out and buy a gift for a loved one. Nowadays even just get a gift card. Those however are in reality meaningless. The act however of thinking of it so far ahead and making or taking something from essentially nothing and with one’s hands and effort create that special gift is something special. It’s not only a gift for him but more importantly than that it is your legacy that he is getting and an example for his own life. For you I don’t have to specify what it means because you already know. Well done.

Won't stay here on permanent like but it may be rehomed instead o' being parted out. Yessir. Runs and drives fine. Smokes a bit. I'm generally not big on dismantling a complete tractor to get components unless something else is gone/broken. That's why I say it may get rehomed.

She is nice and straight, with a few scratches on the decal at the corners. No question it was kept inside all its life

It definitely helped, but your wheel needs to be smooth (and solid enough to stand the force) to need it. Otherwise, I bet your wheel would cut the glove up quick.

@ACman way back , coming up , before we had a tire changer, that rubber hammer and pry bar was all we had to mount/ dismount tires , thanks for the memories ! @Pullstart , dare I ask , what did you put in those bearings ? greasy pete

Nice save on the lumber. Any reason why you need to treat it now and now wait until you use it for a project? Kept dry and under cover it shouldn't degrade.

@Willie go to the vendor section on this site , for the shift boot , also available on line , always have have a spare in my horse parts , there are a lot of regular service / maintenance points on the horse , that should be looked at . if you have a rusty /binding / sticking area , aerosol lubricant / grease , makes it better . related to your transmission , have you ever lubricated , every related movement point in the clutch linkage ? aerosol lube will make the rust run out , only very basic suggestions , done a lot of washer additions , to every connection / grease , very solid / smooth . go on site and look up clutch linkage pictures , then lubricate those areas . pete

That is why many of us have gone to the Kevlar belts from Tractor Supply. Get an 82" X 5/'8" for abut $ 20 and they work fine.

Theres been much in life going on, minor health issue but minor. The Mrs retired, we are actually looking to move, maybe next spring. Where? Maybe Vermont, Pa, Carolinas not sure just yet. Will keep you posted. My oldest is ok. Unfortuneatly my little guy is in drug rehab again. Lets see how it works out this time. I miss you gents, and I sure miss my Wheel Horses to. Helps keep me motivated for sure! From coming monday until friday I'll be on vacation. After that, one week left until the show. Hope to have the tractor up and running by then. If not it will be trailered there and just be presented as a showpiece for now.
