I think they are banding tools, used to put metal banding around a box before shipping. The one with the black handle clamps onto and tightens the band and the green handled tool crimps the metal pieces used to hold the band tight.

The Trina person spent some time in the new garden area this evening spreading a pile o loam out. This was all done with her 867 Pigpen tractor and the mid mount grader blade.

I got a call, a big oak came down and took out some elm too. All cut up, just come load it. About a 35 minute drive each way, but well worth the price of admission. Perfect!

In my opinion, that is just a basic light duty lawn mower and I would compare it to other low priced mowers available there to arrive at a fair price.

Hey all, my new project is finished! I have combined a 418-A and 520-H together to make a 518-H. I put the Kohler Magnum 18 engine and the Eaton 1100 transaxle from a 418 on to a 1995 520-H frame. The Onan had a bad valve seat and the 418 frame was cracked and the part where the seat pan/gas tank is bolted down was messed up as well. The frame was in immaculate shape. I intend on repainting a few things such as the hood and rear rims but this is what I have so far... this will make a great machine for my 2-stage snowblower. I will also be getting custom decals to tie it all together!

@Rustyred depends on what you want/need I guess? Like @953 nut said, if you want to mow and tow (a bit) this is probably just fine. Don't hate me for this but if you want a more serious tractor to plow and do other 'ground engaging' work with, i'm sure you can find a Gutbrod, Agria or Maybe even a Kubota for around €1500 - €2000,-

Hello, I'm Joe. I picked up my first Wheelhorse today! Woot! I own a small engine repair shop and have been looking for a resto project for sometime. Not going to lie, a Wheelhorse was not my first pick. I was looking for a Copar Panzer or Pennsylvania Panzer, but kept coming up empty. I enjoy anything old and rusty. Found this 605 with original H60. It has been modified a little. Someone prior added a different throttle lever as well as added an electric start. Excited to be here and learn!!

Last load of bricks home, about 800 in the trailer picture I think. Also got the conservatory home. Place is looking like a junkyard - awful! Can't wait to start getting it all used up. Have also started digging the back yard up to lay the bricks. Tough going by hand as it needs a lot of earth moved to get the level right.

Rear tires mounted

I was one fence panel short so had a run into Carlisle for another this morning. Back home and took the remainder of the old fence down. The last post was a bugger to get out. Put up a real fight. Serves the person right who put it in two foot deep. Suppose I didn't intend it to come out 20+ years later. Finally finished a couple of hours ago. SWMBO is well pleased with it. Just need to clear the rubbish away.

That is a silly question to ask this group, we all love watching other people spend money! Your selection of Wheel Horses in Austria will be rather limited so if your plans are to mow and tow with it then this looks like a good candidate for the job.

Don - I replaced the needle bearings and seals years ago on my RM 366. You can remove one bearing with a drift punch at an angle from the inside, then use a socket and extension to remove the other. A word of caution - the plate is cast iron - go easy with the hammer! Look at the Torrington catalog, they have the "recommended" shape for the stepped insertion tool. Stepped to keep the needles in place, the bearing round, and the proper size to push on the end. Installation is best done in a press or vise - even force with no impact so as not to dent or distort the new bearing. Same tool works for the seal too. Bill

I brought worse then that back to life again. No one is going to be able to answer those questions for you. Everything is repairable it's just how much time and money you want to throw at it. Get it running and driving again then worry about what it looks like. What ever you do I would keep those rear lights !

The problem is, as you take the paint off you will probably find the reason why he painted it in the first place. Then, after all the trouble you went through to take the top layer off, you'll probably have to sand blast, sand, or use a strong paint remover to get the rest of the paint off. Then repaint the whole thing again properly. I personally would not waste my time hand scraping with a blade.

Yup, Ed. Learned that from the owner of my local Stihl / Ariens store. I picked up a twin to my hand-me-down 1976 Ariens 24" 10000 series. It had the old bakelite rectifier box and a lot of it was broken out - was mummified under 3 or more wraps of electrical tape to the handlebar. Starter worked just fine unless the machine was wet - ZAP !! got bit every time! I knew these guys at the Ariens dealer changed out a Lot of electric starters - asked him if he had a "dead" one so I could switch out the box. He went in back and gave me the entire upgrade kit, with a roached motor for free. He keeps them around for starter drives and fasteners. No more getting bit ... Gave him $10 to buy coffee for the guys... was worth it to me .... Bill

I second this. Personally I feel a Wheel Horse is to good a tractor to use for mudding but i'm also no 'it's only original once' type of guy. I'd say give it some nice paint and (fine) tune it a bit

If not banding, I was thinking fence pliers and a stretcher for fencing of sorts… but I’d guess banding tools too. Possibly that needle is for leather if not carpet?

I have taken to carrying a torque wrench in the show hauler with an assortment of common size sockets and check them before every takeoff. They don't put lug nut indicators on because they look pretty. Pulling trailers all my life and never had a blowout. Had three last year and one this year while the trailer was parked. Wheel bearings are easier than a messed up spindle.

LOL . Let’s analyze it .I guess one could always assume that there is some type of correlation . One can always look at someone who collects lots of different stuff and make that assumption. The word “hoard “ however generally takes into account individuals who’s collecting has a negative impact on not only their lives but also the lives of others around them. If I am to be considered a hoarder, and I have indeed been affectionately called “ a very organized hoarder “ in the past , the difference is that my hoarding actually has the opposite effect on my life and on the others surrounding me. It is a positive effect whether it be by the tractors, tools,artifacts,etc. I am sure that many who collect many different types of items occasionally pose the question to themselves , wether they are hoarders. I know that I do. However when often visitors enjoy walking through the place classify it as a museum or that it is like taking a step back in time I feel assured that I am still under control. I do enjoy and use every single item that I have, learn from them and work to pass them and their history on to the next generations. As for the pencils , I do go through a lot of them since they are always kept with a sharp point, and luckily my wife was a school teacher who literally bought thousands of them every year to give to the kids in school. When she retired I was left with a heathy supply of them.

Clearance for me is no prob with chains because I have no fenders

This 953 has been in my herd for about twenty years, the only thing I have done to preserve the patina is leave it out in the rain occasionally. There isn't any RED on it except the engine, guess Kohler used better paint than .

Hello Kate, I have been receiving your magazine since sometime around the start of it. I always filed them away after I was done reading them. After all these years I had a stack, a very tall stack! I often wondered what I was going to do with all of them? That answer came two years ago at the Wheel Horse show. I was lucky enough to meet a young boy who was carrying some tires around. He had a huge smile on his face and told me that these were the tires he was looking for! His knowledge of Wheel Horses and tractors in general was nothing less than impressive. I asked him and his mother if they get your magazine, and they said no they don’t. After talking with this kid for a while about things adult men talk about, you know like Power Stroke diesels! I quickly realized what I wanted to do with my stack of magazines! His mother was kind enough to give me their address after I told her I had something I wanted to give to her son. So I sent him my stack of magazines and a large metal Power Stroke Diesel sign that I had.( I later found out that he put it up in his room!) Kate, I wanted to let you know that your magazines have brought happiness three times. Once when I received them, a second time when I sent them out and a third time when they were received by this young man!! For this I say “Thank you!” I have your number and once I get my rear in gear I’ll be in touch with my Wheel Horse story. P.S Here’s a good cover shot of my herd of horses! 😂😂😀

But chained tires have some slack so at speeds the chains would wear away your fenders because they get flinged up so chained tires probably a no go
