7 pointsHaven't spent a lot of time lately. 14HP in and running. New loom for the wiring, new steering link. Retorque the head and timing to check then the hood and grill go back on.
-
7 pointsGot out the tiny paint brush and painted the KOHLER U.S.A to match the pinstripes.

6 pointsI'm using a 48" 70's deck on my 2005 and the 2005 42" deck is on my 76. Here's the lift I use after every mowing. Harbor Freight special.

5 pointsI changed the fluids and rubbed Project Hitch down with WD-40

5 pointsWent over to my mates in Scotland this morning as usual for a Thursday. First job was to mount the P.T.O. saw onto the tractor. MF farm tractor BTW. Filled a dumpy bag full of logs from a heap of branches. Then swapped the saw for the log splitter. With that we filled four more dumpy bags from the heap of cut up tree trunks. About two and a half ton for four hours work. There's about 20T at least of ash trees to come down due to ash die back. Keep the home fires going for a while.

5 pointsBBT… But obviously you didn’t consult @Pullstart…. There’s no multiple deck stacking…
-
4 pointsNow, for the record... The BBT made this video specifically for me. Bear. Eric. EB. It's ..... Possible..... A little... That I've been known to have some degree of difficulty remembering exactly how I like to hold our tractors to the trailer. We do this only twice most years and my memory is... Challenging. So my wonderful thoughtful little Other Half made me a video recording of the procedure. Figured some o you folks would be slightly amused.

4 pointsI finally got my unicorn. Came with a snowblower and mower deck. Initial pics are below. I will have some questions as I get to making it a runner (I'm not fully restoring/painting). First, what method and products do you use to clean the machine? I have CLR and a Zep degreaser currently. Should I use a Scotch Brite pad or just towels? When it's fully cleaned, I'll give it a bath in Gibb's Oil. So excited for this little monster to be added to the stable.

4 pointsReplaced the stirrups on the 1257HEAVY for a set of running boards. Like having a few more places to set my feet.
-
4 points@Ed Kennell and @AMC RULES I thought @Stormin was talking about gunny sack that would hold about 50 lbs. Glad he cleared that up.

4 points@ri702bill's suggestions are on the money. I went a different route and replaced my 854 stock two-piece tank with a used one-piece tank from a 702 I picked up at A-to-Z for four reasons: 1) After lengthy penetrant applications I could only get 12 of the 13 screws loose and was pretty sure the 13th would break if forced, 2) I feared the tank was "sprung" due to impact damage (the original cause of the "weep"?) and might never seal properly, 3) both of the threaded holes for the hood hold-down thumbscrews were compromised, and 4) a suitable gasoline-with-alcohol-tolerant inside coating was costly and, to me, a risky solution. A plus was that the 702 tank doesn't have a built-in dash which let me create a custom dash to hold both the original ammeter and a new voltmeter along with the throttle and choke levers, leaving room for another switch or two in future. (A perfect replica of the OE 702 dash is available from wheelhorsepartsandmore, a vendor on this site.) The wood was harvested from my property.

4 pointsSheets, towels, table clothes and cloth napkins as well as my own "chore clothes". Occasionally I get specific requests for other stuff along with detailed instructions! And yes, the household cleaning rags (used/greasy shop rags get hung outside to let any volatiles thoroughtly evaporate before they get discarded). I really shine as the kitchen prep chef (peeling, chopping, slicing) and cleanup person. I have two important rules: 1) whoever cooks doesn't do cleanup, and 2) pretty much any meal that someone makes for me is a good meal--be thankful.

4 points198 more miles and husband and I will be there! Got the hitch added to the pull behind seat! So we can pull the cart around in case we buy something lol…

3 pointsI bought a C-160 beautifully restored but I plan on using it for a dependable mower. The deck is totally shot. I have a 42" deck that is currently on a 310-8. Will it fit on my C-160? Also, do most of you members use a lawn mower jack to work on your wheel horses? If so, which one would you recommend? Thanks you!

3 pointsMan you guys are a TOUGH crowd!! Good thing I got those three positive points ahead of time. 1: Hi center of gravity is of very little concern in this particular situation. It's important to note that the trailer we own is COMMERCIAL DUTY. This is a far far cry from the inexpensive imported garbage that you can buy nowadays. Being in the trucking industry and having great concern for the safety of myself and the rest of the world I consulted several different fabrication professionals before we put the trailer in this form. Current registered GVW is 3,400 lb and with additional springs it could carry quite a lot more. 2: I absolutely agree with the potential for side slide and to be perfectly frank with you it bothers me quite a bit as well. That's why we have that third strap pulling straight down on the front axles of each tractor. I would rather have them facing fore and aft but..... this is what we've got to work with..... for now. We've been using this trailer set up in this manner for several years now with great success. 3: I agree with the concern here as well but not because of the deer and moose. It's because of the two-legged animals driving around in the other cars. Trina and I use nothing more complicated than our own smartphones to do our videos. I've attempted editing on mine a couple times. I think I did okay but it isn't something I'd be interested in doing a lot because it's very time consuming. We just think about what we want to do say and point out ahead of time and go for it. If I screw up something awful I just start right all over again. 🤪

3 pointsGasket is a non WH part, available on Fleabay, about 20 bucks - search 654 tank gasket. Going to a solenoid does away with the heavy current load going thru the switch. I did several upgrades to my 1963 30 snowblower, bought it NOS, unused, never mounted to a tractor. I can get into that once I take pictures. Solenoid is mounted to a plate I made with standoffs on the back of the S/G. Pictures from an earlier post about the ripping edge I made up for the plow... Bill

3 pointsI hope the ride is a short, slow one, and not on I-95. You get 3 bonus points for the diagonal and front-to-back tie downs. But - I am not so thrilled with the upper deck method with no weight below - the tractors (that's how we say it in RI) being up there raise the center of gravity a lot, making for squirrelly handling of a short wheelbase trailer - 1 demerit. Which leads me to item two - IF one of the tractors shifts off those rather narrow ramps in transit, it addresses the issue above with less than desired results - 1 demerit. The lack of fixed stops in front of the wheels is a concern - gotta watch out for deer & moose up there and stop short- 1 demerit. All in good fun folks, ya gotta have a thick skin to work this crowd!!! Good creative use of tie-down points - good video. Bill

3 pointsI like to cook and am pretty efficient running a swiffer over the hardwoods. Dishes....I am restricted to washing in the sink. BTW, if you happen to use the wrong soap, a 36" shop floor brush turned up side down makes a good squeegee to push the soap suds out of the kitchen. Laundry.....I am allowed to use the dryer, but the washer is off limits. My favorite cleaner is Clorox, and Mrs K isn't fond of my polka dot wardrobe.

3 pointsThis is more of "What Have I Done to my WH this week" but I finally finished rebuilding the greyhound engine for my 607, and have been breaking it in. I increased the compression about a year ago to get more power and efficiency by shaving the cylinder head down about 0.030" and because of this I have broke 3 pull ropes, one being the original, and two being made of Paracord. Now it runs great and starts the first pull every time. I changed the oil in it 2 or 3 times as I broke it in, and it seems to be doing very well. It still needs some small adjustments here and there, but overall it runs fabulous for being a 12 year old engine. On my 416 I took the top of the carb off and cleaned it, put in a new fuel line, changed the transmission fluid and filter, changed the engine oil and filter, and re-adjusted the governor. It used to idle around 2000 rpm for some reason, now it is back to the proper 1100. On my 520 I have been troubleshooting an issue with starting, I am planning on swapping the starter on my 416 with this one to see if it's the starter, or a wiring issue. That's about it here.

3 pointsYou'll have to tighten the rivet in the mounting bracket. Here is the best pic I ahve.

2 pointsA little info on straps, a few years back a group of guys going to a tractor show drove the Pennsylvania Turnpike towing an "open deck" trailer filled with their tractors. Well it turns out the Pennsylvania State Police did not like them using just straps to secure their tractors and made them unhook their trailer on the turnpike and go get chains to secure the tractors! My trailer is a 2004 16 foot bed landscaper's model with a few additions. i found an old boat trailer front post and mounted a winch on it , some pick truck side steps and a mounted swivel crane. I have eyelets mounted on all 4 corners and 6 "D" rings on the bed (mounted to the frame underneath the wood) for hooking chains and straps. Lights are also at each corner so the bed can be lighted. A 500 lbs tractor coming off the trailer and going down the road makes for 1 really bad day. Wild Bill in Richmond VA

2 pointsThat's a trash bag we normally rent from our Waste management company for around $25.
-
2 pointsOne people. No gear. Empty toolbox. Trina has the rest in her car... Total towing weight is about 1700, 1800 pounds. The lawyer infested United States of America is the only place in the world these cars are not rated to tow. US Dealership websites will advise up to 1,200 or 1,800 lb without a trailer brake. Depends who you ask or where you read. In other parts of the world these are rated to tow up to 2400 lb with a trailer brake. I can absolutely see that. Plenty of power. Goes down the road well. Smooth and well controlled. It's not likely I'll go to the trouble of putting in the brake controller or trailer brakes but I would absolutely haul this multiple times and be perfectly happy.

2 pointsI would. And then order a bigger stator and do away with that 3 amp system.
-
2 points8 speeds use a V-pulley idler positioned on the inside of the drive belt loop. (under) Not a Flat idler on the outside or top like a hydro tractor does. The belt will run on top of the V idler
-
2 pointsSome of us have drilled out that rivet and replaced it with a small bolt and nylock nut. Then you can adjust tension...

2 pointsGot out in our 20 acres of woods today with my chain saw. I dropped the trees in the clearing for the shop building I started last fall that were too big for my brush blade. Again, I was ready to quit when the saw's gas tank ran out - good design work on the saw, there. Two of the trees were cedars. Think I will just limb those and roll the logs out of the way, as they are a good size for possible use in a structure of some sort. Here are some 'after' pictures: Along the way, I found one of nature's oddities in one of the pieces of brush. Notice how one stick is growing through a branch at almost 90 degrees: I'll probably be back out there tomorrow tossing more brush onto the growing brush pile and making short ones out of long ones.

2 pointsFrom time to time we have an uninvited visitor. Guess that is the price we pay for living in the forest adjacent to the US Forest service lands. These photos were taken from my wife's sewing room widow. In the second picture he had already tossed the feeder over the edge and was going down to get it. Both feeders survived with little damage.

2 pointsYeah good to have Kenb back. I decided to shoot the inside surfaces today and did the bodywork on the outside. Also primed outsides for the last time. Tomorrow I plan on a final wet sanding and ready to paint.
