Husband wanted me to ask everyone for some advice! Today he took our daughter to a test and tune pull off! They both were having a great time! The tractor was doing very well from what I was told but during one of her pulls she heard a noise in the tractor and never mentioned it till after her dad hooked on! Her father went back to look through the videos that he was taking and in fact could hear some popping! However he had already hook on and went to takeoff before he watched video. There was quite a bit of noise I guess and the right side rear would no longer help turn.. they unhooked and the tractor drove of the track. He was advised to jack it up and see if axle broke! I helped my husband jack it in the air and run it. Both wheels would turn but the side in question could be stopped by hand.. also nothing in low side would happen…. Is this a pen/key that can be replaced or 😬😬😬😬 worst news? All the help from the great wheel horse gurus is much needed…. Daddy and daughter need the bonding time….. Here’s a side shot for y’all on Sunday husband took our daughter to a tractor pull her very first on her own pull…!!! You can see it from the smile she had a wonderful time kicking her dad‘s butt!!! Lol. She made sure to rub it in…. In fact it sounded like she out pull all.. however look for a thread here in a minute as they ended up having an issue!

I finished mounting the hardware from the rotted out donor deck onto a NOS shell I bought last year, with new spindles and pulleys, 2/3 new spindle cups (only two left) and stuff like the spring. This thing has no fewer than five types/colors of paint; the factory deck color, the powder coated hardware, the rattle can Regal Red ( where it didn’t wear off during installation), the dark red on the wheels, and traditional grease covered rust. I had to do a fair amount of wire brushing and sanding to get some of the powder coated pieces to fit together. In the process I found I’m not that fond of the stuff. I also took off the new seat, put the original back on for mowing duty. It’s kind of nice and relaxing to mow without random projectiles flying out of the holes in the deck. The new pulleys and spindles are much quieter, too. Not the prettiest, but it works well enough. In a few years maybe it’ll match the B-80 and be a little more presentable.

Yesterday I got an immediate response on my Marketplace ad. I mean not a minute more after listing my 314-8 for sale did he insist on an immediate transaction, I only had to give my Zelle address and his woman would pick up the tractor within the hour. My ad said cash and carry so I said NO Deal. My wife said I was close to being scammed from what she had read on the "Next Door" site. Luck was with me. Another inquiry followed that I found to be evasive but I nevertheless entertained him. When he failed to show, my trigger finger began to twitch and I wanted to write him something he would find memorable. But with the current state of affairs I would be asking for a heap of trouble and so I went along my way doing my thing. 6 hours later when he pulls into my driveway, looks it over and says he will return in the morning with the cash. He arrives after 2pm with the cash and he wants me escort him as he drives the tractor on the road to his home, one mile away! To end this story he wants me to send him a friend request (he has over 4500 friends) and he will send a video of the 314-8 grooming the dirt at the Thistledown horse racing track in North Randall, Ohio a suburb of Cleveland where he is a horse trainer. Instead of being put out to pasture, my 25 year old Horse is going to help at the race track. My tractors said their goodbyes and photos captured the happy event.

No big get together for us. Instead we decided to get away. A little R&R. A little CPR. Catch, Picture, Release. Some open fire cooking.

Yesterday me and my dad and his friend wired up the Flashing lights I put on my C-145. We had to make custom brackets so we could use the old holes in the fender. My dad didn’t want to drill new holes in the fender. All the wires are hidden except the ones that come from the lights those go under the fender but the rest is hidden. We made a custom light switch panel for the two switches that control the rear lights. They’re super bright and they are only using like 4 amps to flash. These lights are Whelen ION lights. I’ll use them mostly when I’m snowblowing and backing up in the dark. (And yes i know I still have tire chains on, it gives me traction when I’m in the garden) IMG_0552.MOV IMG_0539.MOV

Dump out the oil in the cup. Clean it with kerosene or other solvent. Refill to the mark with the same oil you use in the engine.

I did come home with the blade but when I was looking at it it was missing the piece that went onto the tractor to make it go up and down. So I figured I would have to fabricate one. But then there was also a C-120 there which I said ah what the heck one more couldn't hurt and so I bought that for $90. (I got the blade for $40) When I got it all unloaded and started to work on the C-120 I crawled under it and there the lift deal that went on the was. It was already mounted onto the C-120! How lucky was that? Again thank you to all that responded and pointed me in the right direction.

I didn't like the fact that the flange for the belt covers sat directly on the top of the deck, and this was an area where there was quite a bit of rust. Dirt and moisture would collect there and abrade the paint and rust. So I installed them with flat washers underneath in order to create an air gap between the flange and the deck top. Also, I decided against using seam sealer on the reinforcement plates on the bottom of the deck. Pretty much for the same reason... unless I can 100% guarantee that ZERO water would get in, they would only TRAP the water. At least there would be SOME chance of it drying out if they are 'open'.

And 2 is even better than 1 !

@Ed Kennell Looks like you had a nice group at your place. Based on the food in the pictures I think you and Mrs. K should set up at the BS and cook a meal for your close friends all 1200 of them.

I'll take a stab at it. Most of our horses, the clutch is not adjustable. The pedal is adjustable, but only for your foot comfort height. That may be all you need to fix your problem...if it is not a stretched or worn belt.

with tractors. On I like seeing all the parts are there and mostly original. Off When someone spray paints the rims and gets it on the tires. Extreme turn off!

I picked up this '04 Dodge 2500 with a bad Hemi as a project a couple of weeks ago. Saw it sitting at a local car lot on the way home from work but I wasn't really looking for another truck so i didn't think much of it. Later that night I happened by it on Craigslist, saw that it wasn't running but was in good shape, had good tires and was cheap. Went and looked at it, made a deal and winched it up on the trailer. You'll notice in the picture that its loaded backwards on the trailer (which I hate to do) but that's the only way it would fit. For some reason, it had 2" wheel spacers on the front wheels only. The extra 4" of width made it wider than the fenders on the trailer. It is missing its factory jack/lug wrench and I didn't have the right size socket with me. Part of the engine was in the bed anyways so it had a little tongue weight. I was only going about 10 miles with it and it pulled fine. Got it home, promptly removed the spacers, and upon further investigation discovered that it had dropped a valve seat. It'll need a set of heads and machine work due to it chewing up the valve seat in the #6 cylinder, but I opted to get an engine out of a wrecking yard for simplicity sake. Fast forward to Saturday afternoon and I found a much lower mile 5.7 out of an '08 Chrysler Aspen for a reasonable price and pulled it out.Took about 4 hours to pull in the direct sun and 106 degree heat. I got home about 8PM, transferred exhaust manifolds and valve covers over from the old engine, and had it bolted in and partially hooked up by about midnight. I slept in a bit but had it running a little after noon. For no more than i have in it, I think it'll make a good truck. Having it as a backup will also allow me to start doing some body work on my blue '95 V10 truck.

@Handy Don well you asked for a video of the sound from 8 feet… I figured if you requested it maybe others wanted to hear so I posted here! I said I only need one a year ago and here I have 5 now. I’m enjoying every minute of it. For the near future I plan to save as many as feasibly possible. That means to put back into working order using WH parts. Just have to get them for the right deal to flip it to someone for a right deal. It can be done. Preserving is my goal, not profit. Welcome to the fam, just don’t get divorced over it for Pete sakes now. 😉😜😂

So scored at the antique store today! Wouldn't post this in this thread normally but a couple days ago I got a front receiver hitch for the c-100, today I score a 3-ball hitch for $10 AND it's red! Seemed meant to be! It's also solid 2x2" steel and not hollow. I bet the thing weighs at least 30lbs. Should also add as a nice front counter-balance weight as well.

Not convinced! I'll bring 6 sets of wheels to ZAGS for you to clean and paint so you can proove it's the right color! I like your professional looking work too!

I use red oxide primer. I have one tractor that is now past 20 years since repainting, and the rust has never come back. While the parts were cleaned, they weren't blasted clean by any measure. Still no problems with rust coming back. Just remember that paint is just the last shiny, pretty part. A successful restore is all about prep. For me (some will not agree), metal contact is 100% rust killing primer. Fill and glaze is after. If sanding reveals metal, then prime it again and wet sand. Take your time, and however you decide to apply coats, stick to it. Even in NC humidity, none of my paint ever failed. Rust-Oleum, Valspar, or automotive finishes. I've used all of them over red oxide primer, and I am a believer.

Yeah, I know... but I need to fund the repair of another deck and those dang spindles are so expensive! Plus, I don't have enough garage space for all these, and my wife's car will *not* be staying outside (or I will too)

I know I am alway looking at what is for sale. It seems like there are just things you pick up in the picture that throw up a flag. The ones where they just washed them and got the wet look makes you wonder "why did you just wash that machine?" Or says runs good and in the background jumper cables and starting fluid. And my favorite "ran when parked" like when was it parked? i know when I am going to buy a machine I always feel the engine to see if they just ran it before you show up.

@Sparky Mike posted up a nice original paint tractor he was going to pick up. Unfortunately the guy "Spruced it up a little" for him before picking it up. LoL Basically a blindfolded behind the back rattle can job to make some of the surfaces look shiney! Can't find the thread. ON: Original patina tractors. OFF: Horribly painted things just like everyone else is posting about. Also don't like the painted sheet metal only and then call it a "restored" tractor.

They used to televise rallys. In car camera you can hear the navigator yelling instructions and when they end up in the woods the yelling intensifies!

Well I have the belt guard in place. When the early rain drys off I will give it a test run.
