It was rainy at first but the sight of all the red tractors and people who came to enjoy the show early made the long rainy trip worth it! Sun came out later and it was great to see the early attendees everyone and riding tractors around and getting ready for the tractor parade tomorrow! 8 pointsHello all!! Long time Wheel Horse fan and finally an owner of...3!! Yesterday I bought the no model with 8hp Kohler and a 42" plow for $150. She's rough, but runs. Today I did some horse trading I acquired the GT14 and Raider 14 (and $300 cash) on a trade for a truck I bought for $500 😬 Raider runs, moves and cuts. Needs some little things to make it right. GT14 runs, but definitely need some attention as it was sitting outside for a little while. All in all, I think I did pretty good considering I'm out of pocket $350 for all 3 😁

4 pointsThe bad; I've had a bad upper respiratory cold for a week that has pretty much glued me to the recliner. I was not able to complete the new build. I will not be able to make the show tomorrow (Thur). The Good; All the test for Covid and Influenza A and B were negative. I was able to get the build drivable before getting sick. If my condition doesn't worsen, I plan to be at the show on Fri. I may have to hire a driver. A couple pics of the build; wheel paint seat build I did get the P-up loaded today. Hope I have enough strength to throw on 20 buckets of parts tomorrow. Be careful, be safe, good travels.

4 pointsI forgot to mention.... my C-160 has a Jim Kemp stack...and it thumps like nothing you have ever heard......Super sound.. Time to put on another coat of wax !!! .I firmly believe the 16HP Kohler is underrated @ 16 HP..

4 pointsI am overwhelmed by all the support and good wishes. Thank you all. One of our members has even offered to pick up my trailer and deliver it to the show today. Thank you Joe...you guys are the best. When I started this thread, I really wasn't looking for a pity party. Just wanted you all to know why I wouldn't be there today. I am feeling better every day and will load the buckets this afternoon and be there early Friday morning and will leave Friday night. I don't plan to be there Saturday. Please stop by or flag me down if you see an old guy cruisin in a little Honda P-up.

4 pointsCareful what you wish for.... From my experience, the bigger the shop the more things I want to put in it, now I need a bigger shop, & around it goes. Pretty soon you end up with 10 Wheel Horses + attachments, Jet Boat, Jeep, 2 British sports cars, Quad, Snowmobile, Motorcycle, 2 plow trucks, trailer, and my son's Honda Civic. (not to mention seasonal decorations & "That one pile of stuff I'll get rid of someday".) I need a bigger shop!..... Nice haul !!!

3 pointsI have a C160-A (like yours) and a C161-8 you cannot beat them. They are bullet proof tractors. As long as you keep up with maintenance they will run forever. The K341 is the best engine put in a Wheel Horse in my opinion. They aren’t too common like a 312 or a 520-H but they aren’t super rare. Amazing tractors though.

3 pointsAlways better than posting the same questions over and over! Found my weights on Ebay years back. About 120lbs. Made a bracket to fit in the mule drive so they can move as needed- though they rarely leave the Bronco... The two outer weights come off for some adjustability. Heckuva lot easier to move to another tractor that way too.

3 pointsWe made it to Chambersburg, PA Quality Inn. I parked my rig beside another Wheel Horse rig / trailer being pulled by white Chevy truck I think. Who else is at the Quality Inn ? Had a great salad at The Italian Village Restaurant and Pizza with lots of other members… @Pullstart, @squonk, @953 nut, @stevebo, @Handy Don, and others I can’t remember… And guess who greeted Mrs. HorseNewbie and me as soon as we got out at the restaurant ?… None other than Hooooowaaaaard ! Already having a blast and haven’t even made it to the fairgrounds yet !

3 pointsToday I made up a pair of 'sandwich' plates that fit on top of the brackets from some fairly thick steel. Installing the carriage bolt with the head on top it just clears the gauge wheel rod. I'm going to try this idea first and see how it holds up. It occurs to me that the bolt head being against the gauge wheel rod will actually help the situation by spreading some amount of the 'pull' to the gauge rod brackets. Tomorrow should be good weather so I'm going to start cleaning up the shell getting ready for paint...

3 pointsToday, I pulled a nice big trailer with my C175. being hydro, It had no problem pulling this trailer full of old iron. the filled trailer weighed 4600lbs. Only backing up in the gravel did cause some traction issues.

2 pointsSo joined when I picked up the 416 so figured it’s time to start a new chat for the 520. done so far: new fluids and filters added a plow cleaned all connections new Set of rear Carlisle Ag sneakers with tubes, not loaded yet but will be. picked up a full used dash with working gauges so time to figure out how to change the two that are in the tractor and the creeping throttle controls .. looking for snowblower - may have it found my replace front tires with Ag sneakers as well fab work picked up an old plow and frame at an auction for $5 and just may try to create a rear grader blade will add pics later

2 pointsFun day of stuck Norman, @Handy Don’s 854 woes fixed, Jackie quit running and is grinding the transmission now, Rylee hanging out with @Horse Newbie and @857 horse and their tractors, maybe some rain, lots of fun! So great to catch up with @roadapples, @Jrblanke, and @dells68, and take a couple hot laps on the Snowmotractor! Mrs. P even managed to run out of fuel on a Senior parade Shorts and boots!

2 pointsI have these John Deere weights that were originally for the 108, 111, 112L and 116 John Deere lawn tractors. They were bolted to the back hitch plate on those lawn tractors. They're 42 lbs each. I bought them as they can also be used as front slab weights for the JD round fender tractors as they have the same bolt pattern. I ended up mounting them on the front of my John Deere GX345 when I take it to a plow day. Anyways, I decided they would be good for front weights of a Wheel Horse. So I bought a scrap front tach-a-matic hitch off of ebay and welded a couple of unistruts that I had laying around and mounted it on the front of my 416-8. I have to see if the hitch can hold the 84 lbs, but I think it will. Excuse the green paint, I haven't had time to repaint the weights, and they're probably get painted black anyways to be more universal as they still will be mounted from time to time on the GX.

2 pointsAgreed. I have 4 C160s. 2 Kohlers, 2 Tecumseh engines. The Kohlers are one each of manual and automatic. Both excellent.

2 pointsA 195 is an odd mix of a D 160-200 and a C. It has 3pt and rear pto (optional), and if that's mounted, then no, you can not use anything that attaches to the rear axle like snow blade etc. without being inventive. Everything that is on the mid, and front mount will work fine, or with minor adjustments. Parts on 195 that are same as D include lift cylinder for 3pt, some of the 3pt. and hydraulics parts, rear hubs, rear attachments like 50" tiller and pto shaft etc. Probably more. 195 run 15" rims with 27" tires, yes. I have had 42, 42rd, 48, 60 (195/D) type and 60 HD (520 type) decks on mine. I have a flat lawn, and none can compete with the 60HD. Yes its heavy as heck, but correctly set up, oh boy it cuts nice. I find the 195/D 60" deck too flimsy, and easy to warp. And also hard to find in good condition.

2 pointsThe C195 is lengthened behind the foot rests and the fenders are raised substantially compared to the rest of the C/3/4/5 series. D-series are their own and not related to the rest of the herd in any form except for the name. Here is my Super-C I sold (regrettably) a few years ago parked next to my C165 that has the swept axle from a newer 520H.

2 pointsAnd they both use the same type of diaphragm material, though not the same construction. What is the same is that when (not if) it ruptures, raw gasoline will dilute the oil and can lead to "engine failure". This is why it is oh so important to check the oil before use... Bill

2 pointsSuccess!!!! It took a bit of doing and a second set of eyes (and tools) but I was able to drill thru the screw and into the key. My son suggested I try what he does with broken lock bolts. I supported the hub by the small diameter with wooden 4x4's and he hammered a Torx T27 bit into the screw. Next he used his cordless impact drill / driver and it backed right out. Lessons learned: I was able to drill easily with the 3/16" Tin coated left handed cobalt bit - I could not then open it up to 1/4" with the next bit, it just ruined the edge of the flutes. These bits need a full bite to work. In hindsight, the left handed bit worked, but I do not feel it freed it up at all. I tried a couple of "Easy-outs" with no success - the screw is harder than the tool and could not get them to bite. Next up - remove the hub and replace the Woodruff key. Bill

2 pointsWelcome to Red Square. You could go to larger wheels on the back of the deck. I have used some like this. They will not last forever but are cheap enough to be replaced. you may have to use some washers to shim them. Also make sure you re-level your deck front to rear.
