I know a lot of us stack our garden tractors up on pallet jacks, but this guy goes above and beyond!!!

Hi all. I titled the thread so we can post our versions of tools, equipment or projects we have done. Warm weather over here so been doing a few shop chores that I've been meaning to get on with. I set out to build a better can crusher than the cheap pressed steel versions on Amazon etc. With a few lumps of scrap steel, off cuts and a bit of lathe work I cobbled together this press affair that does the job admirably well. I decided to wall mount it close to my recycling bins so I can flatten cans prior to popping them in the bin.

I don’t ever have two well fed gentlemen in my bathroom or shower… Just sayin’…

One of my favorite build it betters… a 1962 Wheel Horse 502. It’s got 8 hp in place of the original 5 hp, 1964 chassis and front axle for better steering quality, late ‘70’s 8 speed transmission with low range and stronger axles, and plenty of extra weight for more traction. And a customized Cherry Bomb muffler with a tink tink for betterness too.

Just got a 312-8 with a dump trailer for free! It’s been sitting in a shed for a year and a half. I put a battery in it and it fired right up. Any suggestions on things I should do to it before I start mowing with it? Im already planning on a air filter. If anyone has the pn for it I’d really appreciate it!

Wife and I are up in North Conway NH and stumbled across this beauty! It’s intended purpose is the clear the road up Mt Washington, this one is retired. The plow blade seemed kinda short to me to be dealing with “mountain snow”

I was at Abenteuer Allrad, an Offroader Show in Bad Kissingen. Few impressions? ok, you want it, you get it. First of all, i found a Ignition in the Postbox i ordered before i go to the Show for my Van nice ! A Wooden house on Wheels Offroad? Huh ok maybe not, but a nice Eyecatcher... Nice Tyres, they told me they be made for Iceland. I was in Business, but i was icognito there....😎 but some more now knows more about Wheelhorses..😄 Cooool ! Lot‘s of stores with knives. Nice toy‘s Here i found my Birthday Gift... Does it fit? I like it... To real Big Nice Bed liner to protect the surface of your Platform.

I am taking my B-80 to the Big Show this year. It's my general all around go to tractor and she deserves a run around the Wheel Horse Collectors Club show grounds.

There’s an old boy up by where I live in Michigan that collects and restores Farmalls. I’d say he has least 25 complete restored running tractors. On nice days he’ll fire em all up and bring ‘em out of the barn. I’ll get some pics if I can catch him when he has em out. Besides it will give me an opportunity to learn the story behind this guy. 😉

Finished relocating my wire harness and for added security I made a steering shaft shield so if anything ever comes loose there should be no moving parts near any wires on the B80.

This is a valve spring compressor, made to fit small block Kohlers mainly. It’s tougher than most store bought and only cost me time, scrap supplies and a broken C-clamp.

Cool idea but here in Michigan we get $0.10 return on each can… if crushed no $$$… Here’s my better build: sailboat mast as flagpole. Way stronger and recycling a broken mast that would have been scrapped…

Spent the afternoon replacing the wiring on the B-80 AkA FlowahPowah. She was having bad connection issues and rather then chase what wire was doing it I figured I'd update all of them. Starts and runs great now.

Not so much riding but the first thing I thought is..... I despise cleaning the windows in my truck that thing would just not happen!

You left out blood and skin that happens when you get near motorize tools or any thing else.

Had some Daddy Daughter time, teaching about fuel line, threads, ptfe tape that’s safe for fuel, etc. Afterwards, an hour of play with both the girls in the pool. I’m whooped!

Great idea. One other trick that works well for this type of application is to pack your drill bit full of grease before drilling. The drill shavings will stick to the grease on the drill bit instead of falling into the case. Packing a tap with grease will do the same when tapping a hole.

Yesterday: Mulched the wife's rose garden before it got hot out. Sharpened the blades on both decks, then got some mowing done. Unfortunately, the GT-1848 decided to stop running so I had to tow it back in with the 312-A. Finished up with the 312-A, then did some weedwacking. I'll probably post some questions about the Honda engine's misbehavior, but I haven't done any troubleshooting yet. May be another case of failed fuel pump (I have aftermarket electric pumps on both the 312-A and the 416-8, and they work great), but there seems to be at least some gas moving through the filter. Might be a carb teardown/clean, but it dies when I increase the throttle. It's been running a bit rough at lower throttle levels. Haven't done anything to the "new" B-100 yet, in the background to the right.

She wanted to do her own her own way so with minimum help she’s creating this tractor on her own painting it herself following her mother and father footsteps!!! Giving it her own touch!

As requested here are two videos explaining my process in sharpening knives and chisels on a whetstone for not only purpose of sharpening process, but also for maintaining stones flat and straight as they are used.. Forgive the rambling sometimes but somehow the camera has that effect on me. What is required to this successfully is basically a little knowledge about the tools and their cutting edges, a little practice, and patience while learning it. Don't be discouraged if you do not have the same equipment. It can be done on anything at hand like a sheet of sandpaper glued to a flat surface and your pants on your thigh area to be used as a strop. Denim makes great strop material.

I bought this tractor with a blown engine. Rebuilt it with help from all of you. Had electrical issues that seam to have disappeared after cleaning all connections. Installed a sickle bar on it with modifications. I bought the sickle bar that was mounted on a Jacobson lawn chief for 100 bucks. The tractor was in bad condition. Sold it for 50 bucks. Rebuild cost me 80 bucks for bore job parts were about 150. I rebuilt it and now have a toy that I have wanted for some time.i plan to re painting the tractor soon. Thanks for all your help.

I was visiting with the owner of the local motorcycle shop today & something caught my eye. There was a full dressed Harley sitting on his lift that looked like it had a chrome solid rear rim on it. Nothing new. Then it hit me, I can see the tool box on the other side of the bike through the rim. What the ....??? I got up & took a closer look to see that the center of the rim was made of glass. YES GLASS!! In this pic you can see my fingers on the other side of the rim. Just to prove that those are my fingers, I this pic you cab see my arm going in front of the tire & my fingers on the other side. WHAT ?!?!? I don't know about you, but there is no way, NO WAY that I would ride this bike. I don't care what engineer says that it is safe. How in the world could anyone think that this is a good idea??? I know, not in any way tractor related. Just had to share my amazement with you.

I've been doing some scrapping since I retired ... Cleaned out the garage... and pick stuff up along the road when I see it... I've made over $2K in the past year. But I'm runnin' outta stuff. I could make a fortune if garden gnomes were recyclable !

I was told two or three decades ago that you have to do ALL the maintenance before you can do ANY of the troubleshooting. I agree that you need to do a carb rebuild and I would add to that, replace every inch of fuel line and a new fuel filter. Definitely a possibility that your fuel lines or gunk in the tank is sending stuff into the carburetor.

Hah yes they were tucked behind it before. When I re connected them I tucked them all in front. However I zip tied them and crammed them in there for the photo shoot as my parents were coming over. It's been since corrected but photo wasn't updated. Thanks for the keen eye! I somehow almost didn't even notice your comment not sure how

Welcome to the forum and great looking 312 you have there! 312-8 is my main user. If you're putting it to work I would start it off right with new oil, air filter, spark plug, sharpen and balance blades, and grease the whole tractor and deck. There's quite a few grease points but there should be a good diagram showing them if you search for it. Especially grease the deck pulley bearings. Best wishes with the new rig!

i sure hope those washed, clean, pretty tractors don't see any dusty roads for the trip? But you will get some tourists along the highways bending some necks to look at those beauties!!! Plus some likely purchase offers at the rest stops!! They look awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glass is a pretty amazing material. Quite strong and elastic. But it can exhibit a lot of statistical scatter in properties in some common formulations. For instance, sometimes you’ll see a pickle jar bounce off a concrete floor like nothing happened whereas other times you’ll gently set one on the counter and it will explode into a million pieces. I can’t help but think a glass wheel on a motorcycle is barely less safe than just a regular motorcycle…still, the first rule of engineering is that everything breaks. Or it should be…(software guys seem to ignore this one the most). I’d be less worried about that wheel than the Willis Tower (Sears Tower) sky deck or the Grand Canyon viewing platform. Or the myriad glass bridges in China. I’m too timid for all of these things! Steve pix stolen from internet.

For sure, happy to do that. I'm sure it will get some laughs when everyone sees the pressure-treated 2x4's the engine is mounted on. When I have some time to do some "serious" welding, I will probably see if I can rectify that situation...

I can second that. When shopping for a shower 'cabin' I came across a clip where the producer of the glass panes demonstrated the strenght of their panes. The test was, place glass pane (3ft by 7ft by 1/2") up on blocks. Then ask two well fed German gentleman to treat said pane as a trampoline. Glass pane behaved itself as a seethrough leafspring Needless to say I was impressed and ordered a shower 'wall' from this company straight away. We had a good day. I didn't get to see my dad today. He went out of town with mom to visit her dad this weekend, but he has soured on this holiday since we lost his dad two years ago. I got to go for a bike ride with my boy, and play a little baseball with both kids after dinner, which was nice. I wasn't lucky enough to get breakfast in bed this morning, but probably only because the wife and I used up all our breakfast time on other things, so I grabbed an apple on my way out to church.
