Same here 'Apples....less than a day old.

Change of plans today so back to the C-81. Battery fully charged so lets start her up. Not to be. Starter whirling round but not engaging. Murphy strikes again. Easy diagnosis. Sticking bendix. Off with the motor and a squirt or two of brake cleaner and freed up nicely. Replaced and the tractor fired up straight away.

My wife and I visited Normandy for the 75th in 2019. Indescribable. This past Easter we led a group of H.S. students back there as part of a larger UK/France tour. The impact for them is not the same, of course, it's kinda ancient history for 15-18 year olds, but with the Ukraine invasion in the background, they did, I think, sense the scale and gravity of that event. One day we met with a Frenchman who was a boy in '44 and still lives on his family's farm a mile or so inland from the beaches. He had pictures of the farm's buildings being used by both German and Allied forces and in his yard is a memorial erected by a US Army unit a couple weeks after D-Day that the family still tends.

Worked on the 1045 again today. I tightened up the steering fan gear on the bar that moves the tie rods. Had to remove the the 2 roll pins and drill the holes for larger roll pins.

Another tree fell just brushing the house. Only bent the spouting a little bit. I had other things to do so I didn't clean it up right away. Then the help came and 2 days later I had less to clean up...

This figure includes around 210,000 Allied casualties, with nearly 37,000 killed amongst the ground forces and a further 16,000 deaths amongst the Allied air forces.

If you can't find it at the big show, chances are you can't find it anywhere.

As I come close to 37 years old, I realize that 78 years really wasn’t all that long ago. Thank you for so many who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedoms of so many!

Now that my kitchen is done I can start working on the 1045 again. So today I attacked the rear hubs. The hubs were shot. The wheels were swinging back and forth on the axle but surprisingly the slot in the axle was in good shape. I had a set of hubs on the shelf so I put those on and before I did that I put studs in, so I could use lug nuts instead of just the studs like it originally came with. Obviously the tractor needs a lot of cleaning up but that will come after I work all the rest of the bugs out of it.

Thanks Chuck and Garry. So it appears there are separate reservoirs in the Eaton 6. The way I read the lube chart for the WH 800 : The hydro pump takes 1 1/4 qt of ATF. Mine has been changed to motor oil, so I will continue with motor oil. The axle gearcase takes 1 qt. of 90 EP gear oil. Mine appears to have 30w motor oil, so I will change that to 90W

If your ridin them down you better get started earlier!

My dad was there June 9th, D day plus 3 as he would call it. 30th Inf. Div. ( Old Hickory ) combat medic, mortar's and machine gunners. May we never forget their sacrifice. Rest in peace Dad.

Finished up the new roof on the magic shed. Of course, the neighbor had to come by and heckle, and get a close up of the Senior.

I've been very lucky over the last (5?) years to find or be gifted (thanks again @Docwheelhorse ) a total of four C160s. Two of the ones I have are the 1974 model year with the reportedly rare Tecumseh OVH160 engine. One is a future project mentioned above, from Tony. The other, the subject of this thread, is literally a "Barn find" in the truest form. It was part of an estate (with 3 other Wheelhorses) from Port Clyde Maine. It was setting in a garage bay ... Buried ... Like REALLY buried... By paperwork, boat parts, seat cushions, boat gas tanks, etc... The widow I got it from did NOT know she owned it. That garage bay hadn't been accessed in a long time. Set this to thought for a second. The garage could be opened. The tractor was about a foot from the door. And there was such a stack of ... Items... The tractor could not be seen. WOW. I made a video showing the beast. Here're some stills. I'll be using the "New to the herd" list we put together to literally ✅ off things to be looked at, replaced, repaired etc.

I had tried to find replacement seat springs for the seat tray to no avail. Finding the correct spring so seat switch would work was giving me fits. I went to garage and noticed an old dead Briggs twin, I took the valve springs and retainers and bolts and viola, they worked! I just need to add some rubber bumpers, but they are what I needed. I like to recycle stuff!

now I know what the "big show" is so now I need to try to get there.. maybe bring that 60" deck and try to swap/sell it for a smaller one

My parents have always been on good terms with their local code enforcement officers over the years. Back in the mid-80s maybe? My father wanted to put up a little shed to store the kinds of things that usually fill up your garage because that was where we ran the carpet business out of. He calls Code Enforcement and the guy tells him the limit without a permit is 10x10. My father says, what if I want to go a little longer? How much is the permit? The CEO told him to make it 10 ft wide from street view, and longer if he wanted to, and then tell him he wasn't allowed to be on the property to investigate it. 😀 The CEO told him, I might be able to see it from the road and I might be able to think it's a little bit longer but if you tell me I can't be on the property I'd be trespassing, now wouldn't i? No permit. No problem.

Was out walking the dog today and heard what sounded like a non civilian jet approaching. Not too surprising, as there is an Air Force base not too far away. Normal aircraft sighted around here are F16, A10, or B2. Today's sighting was a B1. First one I've seen since we moved here almost 20 years ago. A few minutes later, another B1 flew over. Both were in wings forward sub sonic configuration. That makes the third stealthy type aircraft fly over I've seen since we've been here - B1, B2, and a single F111.

That's why it needs to use that variable pulley. Does the snowmobile still have the driven pulley in the trans? Is that variable too?

It goes! Still not fast, but it goes! I’ve come to realize it’s good enough for the show, but not near fast enough for the snow.

The simplest answer I can think of: While the 520-H is the most electrically complex "Classic" tractor, it is also the most powerful and arguably most capable. The price is good, so long as the machine isn't severely neglected. Condition rating varies as much as weather. Where you are has as much to do with condition as anything. What looks great to me, looks like crap to someone in PA, IN, MI, etc ... You can literally remove all the factory wiring and start over with little more than ignition and shut off wired to the keyswitch. How much instrumentation you want will determine how much work the electrical system will be for you. Short answer- what you think is a good deal is by definition exactly that.

Nasty stuff. Had one sprout up a while ago and didn't know what it was. It was somewhat attractive so I let it grow. And go to seed. BIG mistake! For at least 5 years afterward the seeds were sprouting all over the place. Decades ago a neighbor planted some 'bamboo', the variety that only gets maybe 4' tall. VERY invasive! It's a constant battle keeping it from coming into my yard. And it's winning... all I can do is keep mowing it down. "Kill it before it grows!"

I may be wrong on this. 1975 has a different part number for the hoodstand. What else is different other than front hood hinges, 1" exhaust nipple and solenoid bracket.

Horizontal shaft. Trying to figure out if they have ball bearing supported crankshafts, and are suitable for use with our PTO clutches.

Looks to be 8 inch rims and 4.00-8 tire

Gas em out! Pump their hole full of exhaust & make sure they can't get out. Worked like a charm with the moles in my yard.

Just for a reference how hard it is to get a smooth running Kohler in Belgium. I have the M16 that came of Amy, a dude wants to trade his "running and driving" commando 7 for just my engine. People are taking off Kohler's from perfectly working Wheel Horse, just to put it on the shelf, in case theirs blows. The tractor with a 14hp I recently bought and sold was planned to have the engine pulled, I got their in time to save it an is now with his new owners.

Worked just a little bit more on the power cart today. It's now 97% done. Got all wiring done and welded on my jack stand, all need to do now is paint the rims and once get some decals put them on and build a tailgate down the road. Ordered new belts in today so going to start working on the 314 once they come in.
