Took the ladies out and gave em a bath. 312-8 does my lawn and was my first horse and first restore. C-160 is my work horse. This girl dug my pond pushes my snow and does anything I ask of her. 520H is in progress of a restore. She runs and all her hydros work. I just dont have the time to devote to her like I would like thats why she is for sale in the classified section.

I got jealous of @Stormin visiting all these classic shows. We have been hauling vehicles up to Shetland all week so decided to head up to the showgrounds today for a look. A surprisingly large turnout of vehicles, and one lonesome wherlhorse - no sign of the owner though. The blue car is apparently worth several million. It's like a fighter plane without wings - it came on the ship tonight and the sound was awesome!

That's the way to do it. But don't get the Honey moon suite at the Blue Sky. That's reserved for HHHOOOWWWAAARRRDDD!!! and the roosters I will be along with @rjg854 with a Waldomobile in tow!

Fun idea, I will join. I made the diesel-swap. I bought this chassis without an engine and USA made engine are insanely hard to find, so I went European instead. An Italian Lombardini 14hp 1cyl (186lbs) A lot of modification were needed. The hood had to be raised 4": that meant raising the hood in the front (used a 12v winch to fill that gap. then the dash had to be raised as well moved back to keep the original steeringshaft angle, which that shaft had to be lengthen as well. Since I couldn't get the pulley off, I had to change belt sizes and pulleys to accommodate the pulley on the engine. What I still have to do is remake the fueltank supports. I will have to make a dash mount decompression valve as install a foot and hand throttle. Oh and the intake and exhaust will both have to be rerouted.

While I won’t be able to come, I know a guy from Michigan who will be my Ubertractor… Thanks in advance Kevin for the multiple tractor / parts delivery (and subsequent pick up)… Since @WHX?? won’t make it I’m guessing my acquisitions will be relatively safe from cheese curd drippings and other abominations… well, maybe…

just some info related to the spiker aerators , I had the dozer plow sitting on , to lubricate it . there are 2 aerators , same design , one is 28" wide across top of 6" channel steel , the other is 40" wide across 6" channel steel , cut welded 6"channel on it side to bottom of top channel , making a mount for pillow block flange bearings , to hold thru width axels , made up 10"x 4" spikers cut / welded from 4" x 3/8 thick flat bar steel , drilled hole for axel mount thru spikers . spikers just spin with movement , upper channel steel frame makes good spot to lay heavy chain for spiker soil penetration . been using these more than 30 years. often tandem them , have ball hitch front and back , makes for easy hook up , unweighted tow while cutting grass , breaks up thatch , weighted tow , not cutting grass for aeration , break up clay in lawn . feeds birds . working in a weld shop , with lots of metal scrap , this was a no brainer , bombproof , also did a stainless mailbox , about the same time , sch40 cement filled swing arm for suspended mail box , titanium swing mounts , lets it swing with impact , still there , back in the day , pete

I'll be at the show Thursday thru Sat. We stopped staying at the Blue sky when the shower had plenty of black mold. Everyone traveling into PA be sure to fill up before getting to PA, we have the highest gas tax in the nation. If you are traveling across the PA turnpike from the west stay on till exit 201 and take 997 south to route 30, GPS will take you from there. This is a much better route than taking the breezewood exit to route 30. That way is dangerous with hills and curves.

I have no idea on how much you're mowing, but if you're only mowing a little bit an 8hp only sips gas, where that 16 is going to really suck gas on you. I have an 8hp and a 160 also that I mow with and the difference in gas consumption is quite impressive.

Hello All, C160-8 popped up on FB for "parts"... bought it sight unseen and went and got it. Put in battery and fresh gas... tickled engine with carb clean and it fired... kept it running on carb clean till fuel pump woke up. Gave it grease and fresh oil, im putting it straight to work to get some heat in the motor etc. Needs hubs, numerous seals and so on. But NO SMOKE OR KNOCKS!! Picked up 2 c195s. One runs drives and mows, the other is just parts. Came with a 42” recycler deck, 48” plow, and a set of front wheel weights! Big plans for the parts one too!!

Fun stuff, I had a snow plow on my 8hp and then later picked up a C160 for a snow blower. I put mower decks on both. Honestly, the 8hp mows like a champ and plowed anything I asked of her. But......the 160 is a smooth beast and wouldn't want to be in her way. Both are a joy...overkill but I think I'll keep both.

Lately, we have been getting a lot of questions here on the forum about repowers. I am creating this topic to show what can be done, and what members of the forum have done with repowers. Hopefully, a good amount of members will chime in here, giving their models, and what they used to repower, along with what they had to do to make this work. I will come back and edit this initial post, and list each member's model, engine used, and post number, etc. @stevasaurus... I might possibly need your help with that. This thread should be helpful to future forum viewers, even in non radical repower projects. A couple of guys that come to mind... @kpinnc, @Pullstart , @Maxwell-8, @SylvanLakeWH I will start with my repower projects. Post #2 @Snoopy11... Hello all! Been busy with new career and finally enjoying what I am doing. Decided to celebrate by complicating things by buying an Allis Chalmers C that sat in a garage for the last 22 years. Motor was stuck but after a week of soaking with ATF, acetone and rubbing alcohol it broke free. I told the wife to be it was one of the smaller versions of Allis Chalmers and she now is convinced that I need my eyes checked. After comparing it next to the D21 she still isn't impressed. However, she is showing interest in mowing with it. Maybe if I offered a porterhouse dinner after she used it once, another little tractor could follow me home! Post more toys soon. Have a great day and be safe. Help thy neighbor and be blessed!

Next weekend will be having a friend coming up from Mass to stay over. Might as well introduce him to the world of Wheel Horse tractors. I will spoil him right out of the gate with a couple of 400 series twins. Cleaned up these two this morning and they are ready to roll. After that excitement it will be on to some target shooting, a long trail walk and get the grille going and hang out in the cabin for the night with the gas lights burning. Hoping to have a great time as he was born and brought up in Northern Maine and is not a big fan of where he is working and living currently.

I always take I 35 down through Iowa then jump onto 218 for a stretch then I get on I 74 then drop down to Indianapolis and get on I 70 no tolls until you to get to Pennsylvania depending on which route you take in Pennsylvania and fuel is cheaper because you are not locked into paying the toll road travel plaza premium but you’re way too far north for it to be feasible

It is possible to split the transaxle case on the tractor with out removing the hydro pump/motor. However it isn't that hard to take the whole thing off and open it up ...makes any repairs a lot easier... Check this manual

Very nice! I've got 2 gt14's and would love find a tiller for one! Very strong and capable tractors. I made both my 3 points independent from my mid lift. I can mow lawn and move trailers with out even leaving my seat!

Some people may call me crazy, but last year I bought one of the super rare 520-8 machines from @Sodaking27, in a herd from Maryland. Rylee and I drove 1300 miles round trip in two days, with the help of @phil bowling and his buddy Scott to pick them up. The 520 is an awesome machine, but I hadn’t gotten around to doing anything with it and it was kind of new for my collection. I didn’t want to get rid of it, but I’m starting to run out of room. As some of y’all saw yesterday, I made a trade with @Bow_Extreme Matt and he brought me this GT14 package. Having the Lever Steer, Senior, 953s and 1054s in the collection, I’ve been longing for a good running GT14 to round out my ideal big wheel collection. I know I missed a Super C, D, and maybe more, but I’m happy with this. This came with a @19richie66 aluminum gas tank, solid nose grille, inside wheel weights (that I picked up for Matt in Chicagoland a while back), three point hitch kit, tiller, extra hydro, mower deck (that I also traded to Matt a while back!) I tossed the belt once so far, popping the parking lever up too fast maybe? It’s in need of some love, but I’m looking forward to having a tiller/3 point tractor in the worker clan! I started today with working on the three point. I removed the rusty drawbar hitch and got the 3 point lower piece attached. It is bent, but won’t affect the tiller install. The top lift bar needs a weld job but I know a guy for that. I’ll have to make a point to address the small hydro leak and change the fluid/filter as well.

and so it begins.. all that dirt in pic 2 came from the fins of the transfer case

I mow a third of an acre. I love the hydro for mowing on the C-160 but the little 857 saves a quart of gas each time and turns sharper. Plus the gear drive deck makes a pristine cut!
  44. 3 points
I alternate between a 308-8 with a 36” deck, a 315-8 with a 42” deck and my GT-3000 with a 46” deck and triple bagger. Takes a bit longer with the 308 but it definitely uses way less fuel! And I enjoy mowing so I don’t care about shortening my mowing time

LOL! Haven’t stayed at the Blue Sky in years. My back is still messed up from the 25 year old shot to heck mattresses. I usually hit one of the cheapies in Gettysburg, but even those are getting pricey! Last years place stated no smoking rooms, but the room stunk like cigs and there were cigarette burns on the edge of the plastic/fiberglass tub where previous people were smoking with the bathroom exhaust fan on thinking it’ll go unnoticed … I noticed. Trying the Best Western in Chambersburg this year .

We're intending to separate our two workshop areas here as well. Keeps the grease outta the wood products and Sawdust outta the greasy stuff. IMHO adds a safety factor by keeping more flammables combustibles burnables away from the welding/metal work section.

Hooked up the Brinly cultivator to my Raider 12 (row crop) to chase the weeds out of some sweet corn today. Who says a hard working tractor can't look good too? Ever wonder why any manufacturer would have bothered to put a hood ornament on a tractor? One purpose for it is to use it as a site to line your tractor up down your rows in your garden. I was going to use Radpferd, my Diesel tractor with a 3spd transmission today but I'm glad that I choose my Raider. Why? 1st gear high range was a little too fast. At this speed too much dirt was being thrown on to the plants. 3rd gear low range worked much better.
