10 pointsWhile I was watching the plumber fix our intake pipe on the septic tank, I was having similar thoughts. When I first dug the pipe up to confirm it was cracked, I briefly thought about doing it myself. It is nice to be older and to have the resources to have the opportunity to farm out jobs you really don't want, or can't do yourself.

8 pointsOK, Here's what's left in the buckets that will be coming to the show. I sold quite a bit at last weeks Steam-O-Rama auction. BTW, I also sold the low rider dragster to a young lady. She saw me riding it at the show last week and asked...."Is it for sale? My reply.....everything is for sale for a price. Young lady....."Well, what is the price" Jokingly I qouted her a safe price that I was sure no one would pay. A half hour later she came back for the tractor with the cash in hand. So, it won't be coming to the show this year. I did start a new build , but not sure it will be ready for the show. Chasing gobblers and trout take all my time in May and June. Here are the buckets that are coming. If you see anything you want me to hold, or if you have questions, please send me a PM and we can set a price.

8 pointsPrimer yes and a light scuff with 500. I have used both rattle cans and the Rustoleum drys much better. Hardener is a must in either for mix and spray. Rustoleum sprays better, but is not as shiney. but good. Using a HVLP gun I use acetone as the thinning agent. 5/2 mix. I like mixing the hardener in the thinner then add that mix in the paint. 2 coats okay but 3 is best. I like the first coat to be a light tack coat. 20 minutes between coats by the watch! Both paints fade in the sunlight and I use a clear enamel over top. (Rustoleum rattle can) This gives a better UV protection. A word of caution, neither of the paints dry as well as automotive paint, and if your going to clear, I would wait at least two weeks cause it will lift. Light coats no puddles. The clear cuts and buffs nice if you are wanting show quality. Not bad results for $45 a gallon paint. Base paint not dry when clear was applied Testing the clear Magic base with Rustoleum clear not buffed. Cut and buffed side panel. Rustoleum base with clear sanded and buffed Majic base on hood.

7 pointsI didn't see a section for apparel discussion so I put this in the gens . Just arrived yesterday . Can't wait to get some NY dirt on it !
-
7 pointsThis is the excuse you needed to get those creative juices flowing and build another one of a kind creation.
-
7 pointsNot quite Jim. I had mixed feelings for awhile. But I enjoyed it for many years and now some new folks will get to see it.

7 pointsManaged to blag my way for the tyre bloke to ping these off today. Didn't want paying but I got them a box of chocolates as a thank you. Now the job can begin.

6 pointsI see my build thread has been posted...thanks Kev. I modified my walk behind tiller and mounted it on a plow frame. The tiller is raised and lowered by the plow frame. The tiller rotation throws the dirt away from the tractor. I normally use it by running the tractor in reverse so I am not running over the tilled area. It works great for tilling beds that are close to my buildings.

6 pointsYes, even the machine struggled with one of them, glad I used common sense over valour!
-
6 pointsWear it to a hardware store and pick up a can of anti seize off the shelf. Walk around for 5 minutes and put it back. Hat will be dirty!

6 pointsSkeeter seasons coming.... best get the Biltz Fogger on and operational.

5 pointsGonna need a bigger light or move the battery. I probably have changed over 1000 tires in my life. I take every tire I need changing down the street to the tire shop. It ain't worth it to me to fight with them anymore.
-
5 pointsThe original angle was off a bit and I wanted to create a direct engagement with the interlock switch. So, a little cutting and welding, now once all the parts are true and tight, it'll work without having to hold the Lever!

5 pointsWhatta horribly horrific assemblage of vile vernacular. 😂
-
5 pointsDoes this mean I have finally become a mature, sensible, adult at 47 years old? 🤔
-
5 pointsAgreed. We have an electrician friend. A plumber friend. And the rest I farm out--- to BBT. 😀

4 pointsWorked on the wiring on my 1054, got the lights “mostly” lit. One of the headlight lenses disintegrated as soon as I removed it to check the status of the bulb
-
4 pointsYeah... I've got a few in storage that I can't play any longer due to Arthritis... and I seem to have lost my muse. Played 5-string banjer for about 40 years or so.

4 pointsMy son in law now has that tractor and it is still going strong, getting ready to order new hydraulic hoses for it this week! I told my wife I’m not buying anymore tractors, but if there’s a nice C-141 auto at the big show I may have to buy it. And don’t you know that tractor happened to be calling my name!! Here it is with the signature backup light. I was going to take it off until I found out how well it works!!
-
4 pointsNo worries for those techy powered tractors Now I know why they used those engines, built in safety feature
-
4 pointsThis video done by @stevasaurus will give you a good idea of what needs to be done. Her did not show installation of the snap ring but be sur to have the sharp edge of the snap ring facing outward.

4 pointsa c-clip or snapring, often gets of the axle when people want to remove the hub with a hammer. Bought one whit the same issue. and when a bearing goes out, you have to be carfull and stop using the tranny, you will have to split th tranny and take out all the bearing rollers and pull the remainings of the bearing and place a now one in. replaced bearings 4-5 times in the 2 year ownership of these tractors

4 pointsNo one ever thinks of it but - Shutting the key switch off in a bad situation works well too.

4 pointsWhen doing some research on those jackets I had I ran across these old photos. Men are wearing the same jackets I had.

3 pointsAnyone on RS who plays and or collects any type of instrument. Possibly played one years ago and for one reason or another does not anymore. Would like to hear from you. Pictures are always appreciated. FYI , do not consider myself a musician but have played around with guitars for 32 years. Have taken lessons at a Community College nights back in the early 90s and finger picking lessons for 2 years around the same time frame. Enjoy Blues, classic rock and country. My latest kick is learning some Roy Orbison. A few pictures here. The acoustic is a 1991 Martin Shenandoah HD 2832 that I bought used in 1991 with a hardshell case and the electric is a 1952 Fender Telecaster reissue new that was a birthday gift many years ago.Have a pending deal on a 1978 Martin D-35 that I have been looking for since the early 90s as well. Also a few others hanging around. They are as addictive as WH tractors unfortunately.

3 pointsDump the stack but keep the muffler and turn it down. Those pepper pot spark arresters are loud.

3 pointsI have the belt on the small outer PTO pulley and run the engine at 2000 RPM. This uses around 6 of the 12 HP engine and is plenty of power. The tiller probably turns a bit faster than it did as designed with the origonal engine turning at 3600 and with a smaller drive pulley. It works fine in pre plowed ground, but would probably be too fast for tilling sod or hard packed soil.

3 pointsBit of work on the trailer this afternoon. Took the ramp off and ground off the insert rivets that held on the tread plate. A drill bit wouldn't touch them. Cut the frame down and cut off a couple surplus bits. Finally tack welded the altered frame. I'll take that to a local fabricator to be finally welded. I was finding things a bit difficult with my stick welder and my shaky hand didn't help.

3 pointsMcMaster Carr shows these heavy duty spiral rings using the same width groove as a standard snap ring of the same dia.
-
3 pointsYup, it does work, but a pain to apply properly. I used it when I was taking long trips.
-
3 pointsYou sometimes find them securing the rubber boots on ball joints, (track rod ends).

3 pointsWe actually have two Ollies stores here in York, Pa. Yes, most of the items are close outs, salvage, and insurance claims. There are sereval items that are usually in stock. I can usually buy my lawn weed and feed at a good price, and being an old dino, I still buy paper books. Our store has an excellent book section. We buy many childrens books for gifts to encourage parents to read to their younguns.

3 pointsAnd a good time to replace the axle, input, and brake shaft seals if they are at all questionable. @Maxwell-8 - the inside of that 8 speed looks mighty clean - way to go!!
-
3 pointsI agree, use a good non hardening seater like Permatex #2. And once apart, verify that the inner plate has the reed installed properly and the drain hole it at the bottom. Bill
-
3 pointsOne thing I should have mentioned in my first post, always use a RESPIRATOR while painting, not a dust mask. This is especially important if you are mixing a hardener in the paint.
-
3 pointsBut... welding gloves are for protection, don't need dexterity really as long as you can hold and pull triggers, etc. Nobody needs to pick small stuff up when they are actively welding.
-
3 pointsOnly once. Dollar General carries better quality paints. If you close your eyes and shove 10-15 cans off the shelf into your buggy, the assorted colors will match better than two of the same from Majic... ...And they will cure in less than 65 million years. Spray on deodorant has better coverage and drying times- and is 47 times more durable. In short, I do not reccomend it. If you have to use rattle cans, go with Rust-Oleum.
-
3 pointsOn the rear wheels- I've used a 2x6 board about 3 feet long, set on the tire almost to the edge of the rim like a ramp, then ease my truck onto the "ramp" with decent results. Usually the bead breaks as soon as you get the weight onto the plank. Then back up, flip the wheel, and repeat on the other side. ...of course with the valves removed. My make a loud bang otherwise.
-
3 pointsYikes! that could have been really bad if you were in hi/3rd. Reminds me of when I was at the Wheel Horse collectors club show with my newly restored 701. No parking brake. I put it in neutral and proceeded to climb off when the bottom of my pant leg of my shorts caught the gear shift lever and pulled it into gear. Quick reflexes saved a few other tractors. Glad all ended well for you.
