10 pointsCompleted install of the K181 in the B-80 today.Had to re adjust the float in the carb but now it’s running great.

8 pointsCouple new fellas. Picked up for 100$ For the pair. Came with 2 pair of aftermarket steel weights on the ex pulling tractor. Motor on the ranger is 241s that is free n feels to have decent compression. The 2 speed rear on the ranger is very hard to get in gear and will only go in one, reverse if I remember correctly. Never split a uni drive, guess we will crack it open n see what’s what.

7 pointsI took off my rear receiver and added a bottom gusset (been meaning to do this for months now) and also bent up some rebar for attaching safety chains. This is probably overkill given the low speeds, but if the hitch ever pops off the ball I don't want a load of wood rolling across the yard. I wanted the chain loops to be smaller and more "D" shaped but that proved to be more difficult than I thought. I was able to bend decent 90s so I just made these rectangles. I drilled 3/8 holes and pounded the loops in then welded which seemed the strongest way to go.

6 pointsTook it outside and topped up the hydro oil. Also fine tuned the carb. I think she is enjoying the sun although she is still quite naked.
-
6 pointsBeen a long time but finally back at it. Was able to cross the border and pick up Matt's foot control and installed it. Also picked up and installed the heavy duty front fender bracket and the proper cover plate. Bracket is still loose as I will fit to fender before tightening. Last of the decals installed that I can for now. Hood and fender are out getting painted.

6 pointsand Torx got to be one of the best. Nice to see them used most everywhere today.

6 pointsI usually make my own also but here are the numbers for you. 6 pointsNo slots in the grill and those footrests make me think it’s a 1961 model 701. Seat spring and fenders are on backwards. She’s a project….but aren’t they all
-
6 pointsYou might have a shot. Had mine out last weekend... second pull after long winter nap.

5 pointsSimilar rules here in Maine. I had one drawn up. It's not negative. It's not morbid. It's good planning.

5 pointsI don't bring it up very often and most of you probably don't even realize... I do have two kids.... That I am estranged from, by my choice.. I do have a Will, and they are not in it. If I croak before Trina, or vice versa, the surviving crazy person gets the physical items of the other crazy person. 🤪 If we both croak, her daughter and soon-to-be husband get everything. At that point it becomes their problem. 😀 @JCM Jim I want you to know, in all seriousness, if something happens to you and Trina and I are still around, you have your Ball And Chain get a hold of my Ball And Chain and we'll do our best to take care of whatever needs be done. Now, as to which tractor would be the last to go? Well I just don't think I could narrow that down at this point in time. If I had to choose ONE it would certainly be a C160.

5 pointsJust a suggestion, if you put a flat washer under that cotter pin it will help on not wearing out the cotter pin, just a thought Bob
-
5 pointsExcept maybe a Kohler 16 at idle. I happen to like the sound of a Briggs boxer twin at idle, but I'm weird.😁

5 pointsGot one of my horses a new battery today. Upgraded from 230CCA to 300CCA at 0°F since this is my year rounder that does mowing and snowblowing and also winch duty. Went to Lowe's because it said online they had 84 of them. Lies! They had exactly zero. I went to a local joint (CountryMax) and they had the same size Interstate battery for $10 less than Lowe's. I really should give my money to local business more instead of the big box stores.
-
4 pointsFYI. You live in Mass as I once did. GET A WILL. Minors/children have no bearing on the decisions of the court.
-
4 pointsJust got a wheel horse and I can't find the serial numbers just wondering if I could get some help in identifying it she needs a little work just a carb a woodruff key and some tires. I've topped off the diff fluid cleaned the carb and just use a rope I found for the recoil lol greased all the bearings changed the oil and added a process hanger so I can pull it out of anything cheap fix got it free from my brother in law got it running and fell in love with it
-
4 pointsIve seen these heads milled, ported, releaved, then had exotic fuels thrown at them turning 6000+ rpms and never seen one pull a Curt Cobain...i wonder if it was a victim of core shift when cast, and it was just paper thin?

4 pointsJuly 15, 1952 date on that lawn mower directory. I think that might be before Reo was owned by Motor Wheel, who owned Reo before Wheel Horse. I started my engineering career at Motor Wheel in Lansing. Had lots of meetings in the old Reo plant. Spent some time in the QA lab we had there, too.

4 points...some folks see rusty metal, those who know better see it as potential to run again. There is NOTHING in the world that can compare to the sound of a 7 or 8 HP Kohler at idle...
-
4 pointsMy Doctor keeps telling me, "I don't know what you are doing, but I wouldn't change a thing." I know he has me mixed up with somebody else. I've got 3 kids...one of each, and I don't think any of them could take all that is here. Looks like none of them is going to have any kids...soooooo...I'm going to ship it all to that garbage dump that BC Gold camps out at, and he can start a new thread about "What These People Throw Away." One other thing to know...when any member passes, let Admins or Mods know. Karl turns your user name Green to acknowledge your contribution.

3 pointsMy dad was last parent to pass away. Brother and 2 sisters and I took turns choosing which of the tools, antiques and keepsakes we wanted by rotating who got first choice of selected groupings (based on desirability). Worked well with a few extras the grand kids wanted. The rest went on auction at the farm as way too much stuff to keep up with. I intend for my sweetie to do the same. Let the family choose what they want in a fair orderly way and then sell the rest.... Grand kids will all likely claim the "ponies". as for last one to go by my choice....Definitely the C-160 Hydro with hydro lift.

3 pointsI have the L107 my father bought new in May 1967. i still have the original engine on the shelf it was removed so we could get him one with ACR an HH70 (he was too frugal for electric start). I still use her all the time as a chore tractor. I have accumulated a NOS 32"deck, got a snow plow and snow blower as well as WH trailer.. Still have the original WH labeled front tires (stored out of the weather as well as original WH rears...) also sales receipt and manuals.. I have no rug rats but always thought I would pass it to one of his grand kids (who are in there late 50s now) none of them seem interested. so i thought about his great-grand kids who are in their late 20-early 30s. None of them live with a yard or are interested... I will not be around for the great-great grand kids so I just keep using her and think of Father. Not sure what to do when i can't keep it any more.

3 pointsA 312H has the Eaton 1100 hydro transmission.. one of the best. It can be pushed by hand slowly, but towing could do damage to the hydro. If it is in a swamp, I would feel safe in towing it slowly out of the swamp as the wheels will surely slide before doing damage. It aids the pushing if you jiggle the motion control lever from forward to reverse as you push. Not sure why yours lever says low..neutral.. high. It should be reverse...neutral..forward. BTW, if it is a 312A, it has the Eaton 700 hydro that is nearly impossible to push.

3 pointsTook my mates caravan to the rally site while he followed with pickup and cattle trailer. Set up caravan and awning and also the auction tent. My mate runs the auction and hopefully there may be a trailer I can bid for. Though the rally isn't till Sunday a lot of exhibiters are already arriving. So spent some time showing them where to set up their caravans and where to display their exhibits. Returned home and after some dinner, loaded the car with stuff for the auction and my sleeping bag. Back again in the morning to mark out the car exhibit areas. Photo's should be posted by Monday night, if I'm not to knackered after helping to clear the site.

3 pointsback in the day when i worked, the company had and initiative to support the local community. they called it partners in progress. a truly wonderful idea until purchasing got involved. I remember using a local print shop uptown for all the forms and reports in my department. Excellent quality and service. I received an email from purchasing requesting all my forms in electronically. They stuck a deal/ sourcing agreement with a large supplier and now we had to use them for all of our documents. I resisted. The clerk came in one morning and told me the buyers want the forms and we have not complied. She said they we not going to process any more PO's to the local vendor. What do you want to do, because we are getting low? Tell them we are not using much and printing some here, in the meantime order what you need and use my purchasing card. They would never see those purchases. I could not see any benefit. The agreement prices were the same with the exception of a rebate, based on volume, going back to corporate on a quarterly basis. Eventually the agreement failed and we went back. There was many times when documents were so late, they ran out. Local is best!

3 pointsFor a really interesting day, visit any "track day" for the Antique Sports Car Club of America. Quite fascinating seeing cars worth millions being run pretty aggressively. At one event at Lime Rock, Connecticut, I was asked to step over and help push a car back onto its trailer. After commenting to my friend "what a nice looking car" he replied, "oughta be, it's worth about six million!" My favorite was an early 1950's MG sporting a plate that read "Any bits falling off this vehicle are of the finest British craftsmanship"

3 pointsI agree - and it looks like it was homemade out of flat stock - notice the square corners. Definitely not the 1962 cast iron dash from a 702... Bill

3 points@WHX?? To the best of my knowledge 46 is 4hp, 1966. 47 is 4hp, 1967. 66 is 6hp,1966. 67 is 6hp,1967. @8ntruck After looking through that directory I found a dealer in my town that was owned by my friends grandfather. It’s now way long gone, I don’t even remember it existing. Next time I see him though I’m going to ask him if he has any memory of this.

3 pointsYep, definitely the wrong dash plate on this tractor. It should have a plastic dash plate.

3 pointsAlong with the above observations, it also has the thick fan gear on the steering shaft. Another 701 only feature.
-
3 pointsDitto - The pointed rear fenders with the strap supports, the straight shifter, and no cut-out for the parking brake lever, 'cause there ain't one - all confirm it is (was) a 1961 701.

3 pointsGot my car back together today. A previous owner did some rather substandard repairs on it. Replaced the turbo, a couple of bolts(that should have been studs and lock nuts) that were welded to the turbo housing and all gaskets. The turbo housing had a broken stud and it let the gasket blow out. Nice and quiet now. Also made a new decal for a plate. (a license plate for the front)

3 pointsI swung by my welders place and picked up the deck hanger brackets that I had him weld up for the 48 inch SD deck. Some of the slotted holes were worn, and the post on the height adjustment handle was worn too. While I was there he gave me a few cutting wheels for my die grinder…

3 pointsEngine is in great shape but showed some signs of head gasket leaking so I popped the head off and cleaned things up. Valves were lapped and then it was buttoned back up. Head gasket leak was just due to loose head bolts.
