11 pointsSomething different, neighbor was trashing a jd mower with blown engine. During Covid downtime I put this together to move trailers etc. Other than pulley and belt, I had the parts in the shop.

8 pointsWell wouldn’t you know it I pulled the plow off the 753 and put the mower deck on it we are right on the edge of possibly 4” of snow. So for all you New Englanders it’s my fault. I tried to get a jump on it before Alex gets home and we concentrate on his tractors again. He put my hub caps on his 604 and I stole them back tonight. He probably will notice as soon as he walks in the garage tomorrow. The mower deck is back on the 416H too but I need to tube the tires. Let’s see those round hoods with mowers!

8 points604 around 1970 (I know you can't see much of the deck but it's my first day driving a horse!) 704 around 2011

8 pointsHere is an RJ58 I bought a couple years ago.

7 pointsI thought I would add another from the stables, picked it up last year. I got a 5 foot blade, grader for rear, spike aerator. Also came with suitcase weights. I have since found a pond scoop which was reworked to operate in opposite direction. Have done some work, and added lights. Was great plowing snow.

7 pointsI've read for years how these things tend to multiply and I can attest that that is true, at least for me! I currently have a 416H and a 417A. I use the 416 for mowing and snow blowing duties and the 417 with a 48" front plow. I won't even be able to get it for a month or so.. but, I ended up making an impulsive buy which I rarely have ever done. I bought and paid for a low priced 197X C-160 based on a few pictures and limited knowledge. I used mostly change that I saved up for the past year. All I really know for sure is it's been stored in a shed for many years and it has a... 341? Kohler that smokes some. Plan is to carefully as possible pressure wash it while of course avoiding electrical stuff. Get it running and go over everything on it. I'm excited because even if it's in terrible shape, I'll find a different one and use this for parts! 😆

7 pointsGotta side with the others on value. Even mentioning the issues to the seller to see if he would come down on price I would still walk away. Just better deals out here to be had. I bought a 600 hr 94 with a cab, blower, tiller, generator & lawn vac for 1750. Sure had to travel abit for it but still. Just too big of a risk if your looking for plug & play. Now if you were looking for a project and could get it for say 500... different story. Personally I would stay away from it and look for better. Joe nailed it. Gotta like your sense of humor tho!

6 pointsI'll tell what would be t's on a ritz is build a deck over the back. Maybe even big enough for a small picnic table..... wait better yet a full wet bar! Turn it into a people haulin party wagon for shows. Complete with coolers, lighting, music & dancing girls.... That's a project I would spend some coin on!
-
6 pointsWas so nice to receive all of the wishes !!!!!!!! have a great day everyone !!!!
-
6 pointsDrop everything off the front and make it a loader machine. I have a 220 Groundsmaster, and that is my plan anyway... If you google Toro Loader you'll see one that was converted. He didn't make it very safe, but it's a great concept.

6 pointsI put a mower deck on my rj but haven’t figured out how to make it work. Apparently it’s not a rj deck but I made it fit. I need to take the reel mower belt guard off since I still haven’t found a reel mower.

5 pointsNiiiiice.... We missed out on the snow completely. Fairly decent quality rainstorm with very high winds. I think it's probably a good thing that a plow stays on a tractor year-round. That's my intention with the 1975 C160 Automatic. That way if I need it for dirt work it's already ready already.
-
5 pointsFor 1100 hour machine, and all the issues........ that is telling you a story. If you are not super handy and have time to spare, probably should move on. Cutting a half an acre, there are much better and easier to work on wheel horses. A nice 312-8 or even a 312 or 314 H would be a much better choice. Plenty of power and less wiring issues for sure. 42 inch decks give a nice cut too and there are options for side and rear discharge.
-
5 pointsYep, it went from a '93 with 300 hours for $1500 to a '88 with 1000 hours. The deck looks OK with new blades. If it starts easy runs well from 500 to 3600 RPM without surging and will spin the tires when fastened to a tree, and mows OK, I would start at $700.

4 pointsThis tractor is all there and was driven into the shed. Just been sitting a few years.
-
4 pointsMy first (of now four) C160s was in terrible shape. Anything's repairable. A K341 is the king of the single cylinder engines. BEAST.
-
4 pointshi folks- i definitely passed on the machine. yep, 1000hrs! not the 300 i was told on the phone. i have done some thinking and some more reading/watching. i am looking for a lawn tractor not a mower. i have gates, beds, trees, bumps, slope, really thick areas (grass) and some normal and crap grass areas. I want power steering and a machine that can handle a blade. a 42-46" deck would be plenty. a hydro deck would be a plus but not a deal breaker. i can change fluids and filters and probably belts, those types of things. electrical/carb/tran work is above me i really appreciate everyone's feedback. it's nice to have folks to give their .02.
-
4 pointsHusband and I started putting the tractor together how does it was my day off! We made sure to clean all the surfaces put new gaskets around the cylinder piston fits nicely! Slow and steady!! Today the engine was reinstalled new points condenser coil wire generator bolted back on..
-
4 pointsI know… I drove by ‘em thinking “only a couple ways of negligence got you there! “
-
4 pointsI drove to Detroit yesterday and it was snowy and slush and crap. Roads were wet, but shoulders would grab ya if you’re playing on your phone and whatnot All seriousness, there were many slide offs and wrecks the further East I went. Glad to be home!
-
4 pointsI match the size up with the Husky belts sold at Tractor Supply. I have had good luck with their belts.

3 pointsI have rescued a number of items, unfortunately you can only drag so much home🤔. I have a nice electric chain hoist that I intercepted on the way to scrap, still use it. I recently parted with my grandfather’s 1941 lathe, It went to a good home to be used. I like the vise, I have my Dad’s old vice on the bench.

3 pointsChanged over from the plow to the mower deck on Saturday. Of course then it snows again!
-
3 pointsNope. I have read elsewhere that it supposedly was equal to a 14 hp engine but I don’t know if that is accurate. I don’t recall where I read it… No details in the owners manual I have…

3 pointsMy P220 has an Onan, but it is shaft driven to a Sundstrand pump mated to a Dana axle that supposedly rated at 10K lbs. The trailing wheels have 1 inch axles, and the whole thing is bult fairly sturdy. Mine is not 4x4.
-
3 pointsExcellent. Get those guys a bunch of mowing machines and sit back and relax. Hey, if you happen to trip over an extra shaft drive deck that will work on a 60s tractor keep me in mind...

3 pointsMy boys love mowing the lawn. Last year they fought over the 416 cause that’s the only thing that had a deck on it. Alex wanted plows on every available tractor this winter and we ended up with 3 plows on. He currently owns 3 on his own with his newest tractor. Now he wants mowers on everything that runs. Apparently he wants options to mow with lol.

3 pointsThis sparked my interest enough that I did some interweb searching. One of the things I found was that the 'P' in AVP stood for 'professional'. Maybe this explains the 18" bar and odd pitch chain? I also found out that Sthil dealers have little to no documentation on this model. Have you dug around in the various chain saw forums? There seem to be several to choose from. Maybe you could find a Sthil dealer that dates back to the late 60's or early 70's? Afraid I'm not much help here. Half the fun is in the hunt.

3 pointsGot the (new-to-me/used/salvage yard) battery in Cinnamon Horse C160-8. Changed out the worn top post adapters for nice fresh color coded ones. Added some furniture bottom felt to make up bracket holder spacing. @peter lena would be happy here. Found some chafing on the wiring. Moved some wires. Added/subtracted red zip ties. Fixed! Dependable old girl started right up after setting since last (Oct/Nov??). No preservatives. No additives. NON ethanol fuel. Drove the beast to the outdoor workshop building. Pushed a 417A out for a minute. Dragged the Mckissick chipper shredder out and up onto the C160 with the help of a BBT. Moved some "stuff". Pushed the 417A back in to the front of the building. Messed about with the belt and pulley for the Mckissick but it needs some bracket bolts replaced first. Outta time...

3 pointsBased on what you can get today for $1500.00, the 520-H is a bargain. However, you must be aware that there is a limited supply of Wheel Horse parts available from Toro, and even fewer parts for Onan. If it has been well maintained, and had the grass clippings and such cleaned from the rear cylinder area frequently (poor air circulation causes burned valves and seats), I would not hesitate to make $1500.00 my top dollar offer. But I'm cheap and would go less on my opening offer.
