16 pointsAfter 3 inches of rain yesterday, I thought it would be a good morning to break out the rollin pin. I knew I would need chains to pull the roller it the long wet grass. The dedicated 520 is the only tractor chained year round. The chains actually acted as an aerator and I was in a warm cab.

15 pointsAnyone else wear your Wheel Horse gear at work? I work in an office and it’s casual, and not just on Fridays. Todays denim type shirt….

12 pointsHad our first in season trout stocking this PM. We cleaned out some runs and stocked some big trout.

7 pointsI’m sure this is done all the time but my attempt to brighten up the bucket. I used aluminum pipe tape. Have some 6000 lumen LED’s going in. Should be bright.
-
7 pointsYeah I should get over to Dan's and borrow the roller @dclarke built & give us. Lots of doggie land mines to pick up first! Good idea on the chain aerator. Should start thinkin about getting mowers ready too with green up just ahead. Just re-read ....3 INCHES ! ...wow

6 pointsTonight I put on a few more decals, put in and wired the 6000k LED cool white headlights, installed the hood, and put on the hood latch hooks. I still have the decals to do that go on the sides of the hood, also have to get 2 more of the rubber hood latches as mine are cracked. Also am waiting on new shifter knobs and a brake lever rubber sleeve from Lowell, and a service/ air cleaner decal from Terry… After those things I think the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 will be done… I do believe the decal on the front of the hood is a little crooked…

5 points@Achto just did a resto on one and used a chrome plating paint of sorts on it. Post 158 I tried polishing one once but didn’t have the right tool to get in there for a shine finnish.

5 pointsThese came from PeeAaas main hatchery in Huntsdale. This evening we will stock http://www.yorkiwla.org/ trout for a kids only weekend on another stream. Monday we will be on another section of the railroad stocking https://www.codorustu.org/ fish. http://maparailroadhist.org/ https://maandparailroad.com/ They let us use the train for stocking the stream that parallels the track.

5 pointsI always have a Wheel Horse T-Shirt on when I leave the house...both times. To the Doc's Office and to the Liquor Store. My Primary Care Doc and I always talk about the Horses. My Heart Doc and I talk about different Scotch's, Bourbon's, Etc. My Dental Hygienist always wants to talk about Implements for the Tractors. The Liquor Store Lady will talk about anything. BYW, I should also say that when I walk into the Liquor Store, she says, "There's my Rock & Rye guy."

5 pointsA couple of days. Getting ready for the spring change. Worked on the 520H snowblower and posted on another thread. Gathered parts and fluids for oil changes and other maintenance on all the tractors and other small engines. Got 10 gallons of fresh 90 octane alcohol free. Batteries back in the "summer tractors" Gassed and started two of them. But the most productive thing all week was to tell my wife that spreading out the "roof snow" in front of the winter storage shed would help it melt faster so I could get tractors out and help clean out the gardens and turn over the compost. After rain tomorrow should be clear sailing.

4 pointsWill pay $35-$45 for a fifth but won’t pay $5.00 for a gallon of diesel

4 pointsToday I applied a liberal coating of mud and muck to the tires and undercarriage while putting the muck forks to a much harder test. I bent one tooth a wee bit, but overall, it digs pack like a...like a giant pitchfork.

4 pointsWent to put a new battery in the 1075 Wheel a Matic yesterday. These are a tight fit. Gen belt guard has to come off. The old battery must have swelled some as the top was right against the lower Genny bracket. Had to tug on the battery pretty good to get it out. On the way out it caught the fuel line and pulled it off the tank thanks to the POJ spring steel fuel line clamps. #&+#@^®©!!! Got doused with about a pint of gas. Still soaking clothes in vinegar. Whoever came up with these clamps ought to be in jail! Gladly paid $2 a piece for real clamps. Today new battery slid right in. $29.95 for a 300 CCA at the Mart.

4 pointsI am more worried about Inflationary Prices of Wheel Horse Parts then any gas prices that might exist now or be coming in the next few months! The cost of the original and replacement parts, attachments and tractors have far exceeded anything I can believe.
-
4 pointsMaybe the case this time, too. Looks very nice the way it is. Most likely noticeable to you, more than any one else. As long as your happy with it is all that matters.
-
4 pointsYou know the rules… gonna need pics!!! Have @Pullstart give you packing lessons… what could possibly go wrong?

3 pointsYou should make a D with an extended frame with a bunch of bus seats. Now you have a Par-D bus! Maybe throw on some disco balls or something.

3 pointsLet's try to get this thread back on track! Complete Original Kohler K161 from a 702 barn find. Engine turns and has compression. Carb and governor linkages move freely. Has the pullies and belt widgets. Comes with special short frame generator. Generator spins by hand. $125.00 PENDING

3 pointsI think of "proud of it" as being work I'm happy to have my name on--that I gave it good effort and attention and didn't withhold anything important (not that it always turns out well!)
-
3 pointsAt one point someone has changed the dash out. It should have the push pull style throttle & choke. Those are later style controls but guys like them better than the old style.

3 points65 Miles per hour......I hope none of those 80MPH semis run you over.

3 pointsA hair dryer will help remove the decal if you wish. It should take the decal about 48hrs to really set up. Or a day in the sunlight. The sooner you make your decision the less likely to do paint damage. if your paint was well cured before the decal went on (2 to 3 weeks old) the likely hood of paint damage decreases as well. Like @SylvanLakeWH said, it looks strait on the bottom, maybe just a hair off on top. Your call. BTW, this tractor is looking awesome.
-
3 pointsYour call. But I’d be inclined to leave it if it were mine. Interestingly, the bottom of the sticker looks straight…? Is the hood tweaked? Maybe optical illusion. Perhaps @Vinylguy can comment on the paint damage potential and best way to do it if you decide. I’ve only removed them off stuff I was going to paint so didn’t care if paint damaged. Used blow dryer to soften decals…

3 pointsI tend to overbuild as well but the added weight helps for ground engaging implements. Win win. Jay
-
3 pointsThanks! No not really.. if I ever attempt something like this again i'll probably just use the components I need, transmission and engine, and build the rest from scrap. That being said, this whole project kinda snowballed a little bit I certainly hope not! Like I said most of the time I tend to overbuild things so I'm guessing it will be allright. Wouldn't wanna find out by trail and error though so i'll just add a little more bracing 😁

3 pointsWasn't that long ago that family members on the road would call from their flip phone to ask if I could check traffic for them using my desktop computer with an internet connection. Home was one of their "5 friends you can call without using minutes" numbers.
-
3 pointsMine too, have to do searches on the desktop before I leave.
-
3 pointsSince the previous post i've been tinkering away.. I think the three point is a go!

2 points@peter lena I lubed them down to free them up but just used penetrating oil. It seemed to work and they all work freely now. They only odd thing I came across and had to adjust was the parking brake. It would not go back far enough for the little stop lever to move down and lock it in. I had to loosed the adjustment nuts to the point the locking nut can't fit on. It does travel far enough back though to set the parking brake. There's a couple threads out of the nut that fits, but not enough threads for the locking nut to grab. I'll keep an eye on it but any ideas as to what the proper fix would be? I did get everything with the engine assembled and did go ahead and get new head bolts. I tested for spark and we have it. Everything seems to work right now. Tomorrow I will get things needed to redo the fuel system and we will be able to see if she's a runner!

2 points@OutdoorEnvy like your behind the dash improvement pictures , that place is both a nightmare and an opportunity , use your battery ground cable bolt down point to , add another cable directly to corner of engine / frame , insuring related grounding . , to ignition and headlights . add electrical lug at frame bolt area , for lighter ignition / lighting wiring .https://www.gordonelectricsupply.com/p/Nsi-4T-Aluminum-Single-Lug-Lug-4-14-Awg-Al-Cu/5979278? . get it in a 3/8 base bolt size , so it bolts right to frame / engine corner . did you SUPER LUBE those cables for ease of movement ? check out the PTO lever start area , dry / rusty / sloppy ? snugged up mine with washers and lubricant , very solid and smooth . 2 bolt flange bearing on the steering column . only suggestions . dielectric grease every connection , keep going , pete

2 pointsThanks everyone for the info and advice! I opted to back out and keep looking (was turning into a logistical nightmare trying to plan the trip and coordinate schedules. I’ve got my eye on a ‘65 875 for half the price and a few hours closer (now if only the seller would respond!). Maybe I’ll be posting pics of my new WH mower someday soon.

2 pointsThe chain is not stretched, as roller chains wear at the pivots rather than stretch. The cumulative wear in the pivot points makes it seem that the chain has stretched. You should take a look at the sprocket teeth for wear. If they are worn, they will not play well with the new chain and you might still see the chain jumping the teeth. Standard chain kept properly lubricated will give you a good length of service. Good luck and have fun.
