After a test fit I have decided my newly scored Carlisle All-trails are going onto the 315… but not without a paint job. Only a coat of primer so far

I just heard that Regal Red has been discontinued… No word from corporate on the reasoning behind the decision, but rumors among employees at the main Rustoleum manufacturing facility are that a certain shade of green and yellow were replacing Regal Red in their color line up. Mass resignations and protests are forming nationwide… Western civilization continues its slow but steady decline… Oh, Happy April!!!

Many of us have made custom parts, attachments or mods to our tractors, like foot pedal controls for example. Let's see the pictures. Close up pictures and descriptions are appreciated. I love gaining inspiration for a build of my own from the folks here. Here's my modified Bobcat deck. Got the idea from @kpinnc

I purchased this in hickory, NC. After selling my other GT-14 a few years ago. This one is the best looking one I’ve seen so far. Very pleased with my purchase. Runs like a top too. It needs some minor stuff. But, she sure does run strong I may buy my old charger 10 back too I’m really wanting a tiller for it. It came with a 3 point hitch and a pristine mowing deck

I have a couple - First, a two-piece clamp-on steering wheel adapter. No more roll pin, and you use the aftermarket steering wheel of your choice. Mine on the C81 kind of looks like a 420LSE. Second, an adjustable spring assist for the seat on Round Hoods to keep the seat from abrading the paint off the toolbox fenders.

I just wanted to let everybody know that I just got off the phone with the CEOs of both Cummins and Toro. The Cummins CEO told me that one of their engineers, with requisite pocket protector and slide rule, had perfected the Onan engines and that they were re-launching them. They can be run on gas, diesel, electric or methane (you just have to make sure that there is no toilet paper getting into the tank). And they figured out that all they needed to prevent the valve seats from loosening was installing titanium paperclips and hubba Bubba bubblegum. The CEO from Toro then expressed remorse about discontinuing the wheel horse line and they stated that they were resurrecting it. The the new wheel horse product line will also incorporate the new Onan powered "620". And since I had brought together these two icons of industry, I would get the first model inscribed with my name.

Here's my solution to moving the seat back on the Cinnamon Horse 1974 c160. Bolted the square bars to the seat pan and the seat to the square bars. Gave me a good strong two inches of additional legroom.

My Colossus tractor project is quite a lot of custom work from one end to the other. I'm particularly happy with the spindles. I designed them and our fabricating friend built them. I helped her just a tiny bit with brute Force on a big wrench but everything else, credit to her. Here's a sequence of what they started as to the finished product as mounted.

Breaking news.....A ferderal mandate will now require all new hydro tractors with hydraulic lift to include a free personal fittness trainer to help prevent deterioration of the owners left arm.

This just in...… Cecil Pond just called Rustoleum and told them they must continue the Regal Red color line in order to comply with the Lifetime Warranty issued when the tractors were purchased by the original owners. There will be a base coat / clear coat line available next month. 3 forms of breathing apparatus must be worn to comply with clean air regulations. Any violations will be rectified by fine or imprisonment. Failure to comply or pay fine will result in forfeiture of tractor being restored to the appropriate party. ( RED SQUARE MODERATORS will be responsible for picking up tractors in question ) in other news...……...

It’s a 70. It’s a solid grille I absolutely fell in love with it when I saw it. A buddy of mine told me about it. It was only posted for about an hour or so and I went and looked at it and had it delivered yesterday afternoon yep the seat is perfect surprisingly

Like ebinmaine I used an Ariens with the tube frame steering in the early 1960s to mow the Scout hut grounds and are community park every weekend. Our dad volunteered my brother and I do to the work if the community provided the mowers. We wore out the tube frame in about three years and then had another Ariens with the rear motor and a steering wheel. They were very good machines. Ariens was the first real snowblower manufacturer to my knowledge. I have used another Ariens product for years- Sno-Jet. Sno-Jet is made by Ariens for their snowblowers to slow buildup of snow and ice in the blower and auger. This is a great product and I use it in my Wheel Horse snowblower every winter. Seeing this Ariens Museum post was great for memories but ironically I bought another Ariens product this year, a 42 inch Ariens Zoom Zero Turn. Ariens now owns Gravely and still makes some very good equipment.

If you are rebuilding an older model Kohler engine with the two piece ASA (Automatic Spark Advance) camshaft you may feel like it is an imposable task. Unlike the ACR (Automatic Compression Release) cam the ASA cam is a two piece unit and none of the manuals I've read give you any guidance on their installation. The portion of the camshaft that operates the valves and fuel pump is separate from the portion that opens the ignition points. There is a pair of flyweights and associated springs on the cam gear that will advance the ignition timing once the engine comes up to speed. The gear and the ignition actuator cam have markings so you won't put it together 180 out. (see first picture) The ignition cam slips over the two flyweights and the small springs ride on the outside. So far so good. Now comes the tricky part, sliding the cam into place without dislodging the ignition cam. I have found that a 7/16" drill bit is just right for the job. You slip the drill bit into the hallow camshaft assembly, lower it into place. As you push the shaft your cam rides on into place it pushes the drill bit out the other end and both pieces are where they belong. There are a couple ways to determine what camshaft you have. Presuming the camshaft in your engine is the one it was born with the data plate on the engine has a suffix that can tell you what camshaft was used. The table below will tell you the suffix applicable to your engine. The other way to determine what camshaft you have is to remove the cam gear cover and take a look. If you see a mechanism attached to the cam gear it is the ACR cam. The following engines have the spark advance camshaft; K-141, Suffix prior to “C” K-161, Suffix prior to “J” K-181, Suffix prior to “D” K-241, Suffix prior to “D”

Trina says that's a snazzy job there! She uses the playing cards method or a row of tape around the rim connected to newspaper.

Never tried that method but have heard good things about it’s success rate. Always masked mine off with good results. I am interested in what Eric’s @ebinmaine paint department thinks of my work

It has been determined that tractor may shift out of Park if not properly engaged, so Hydros will only be sold until the situation is rectified. Many owners are appalled at this decision and have hidden their 8 Speeds in a remote location... Will keep you updated.....in other news JOHN

For static timing I prefer to use a 12 volt test light. Watching the a change in the meter face while turning the engine allows for a slight delay, a light going out is instantaneous and your reaction to it will be faster in my opinion.

Should have stopped when we took that Bronco 14 back to that guy in Manitowoc Dan... went right by it. Course that was a couple of years ago may not have been open yet? I grew up on that side of the big lake and just about every garage had an Ariens product in it. They are are also a big supporter of the Packers so when you go to a game you see their stuff on display all over Lambeau. Them and Milwaukee pickles! Ya know something @Achto I don't recall ever seeing a Ariens collector or line up at any of our shows? Ed beat me to the seat thing.

I saw that. That pic doesn’t show how the back end is pretty well rotted off, though. Somebody with metalworking skills could bring it back if they had the time and desire. Not a lost cause.

When I opened you post I saw the Green thing and figured it was an April Fools joke then scrolled down. That is a fine looking GT-14 with one of the best looking original seats I've ever seen. Is that a 1969? Looks like the plastic gas tank protruding from the grill, '69 was the only year they did that.

That seat pan is off of a 520H… the Work Horse seat pan did not have that body line across the bottom. So the Work Horse decal is taller, thus it was a challenge to get it on without messing up the decal… Terrys/ Vinyl Guys decals are top-notch, and their thickness makes it a challenge to lay them across body lines that sharp.
