10 pointsOver the past few months with the rising cost of fuel Tasha and I have been only taking one vehicle to work, I drop her off at the lumber yard and then come to work at the shop. I get off at 5 picked her up at 530 and it worked out great. However now with spring and summer coming up the lumber yard here stays open until 7. This is not good as it leaves me with two hours to kill before I have to pick her up, which leaves me with nothing to do but drive around and scout the country for things I want but really don't need. Yesterday as I'm driving around after work I drove down a street on the edge of town, a street I've driven down millions of times in my life, and happened to spot the nose of something green inside an old barn about 100 yards off the road. Curiosity got the best of me, and upon closer inspection discovered a 1929 John Deere GP. Talked to the owner and he is wanting to sell. His grandad backed it in the barn close to 40 years ago and that's where it has sat ever since. The good...it's 100% complete. The bad...it is stuck (which I almost expected) and the tires have all but rotted off the rims. He priced it to me at 800, asked him if 600 cash would buy it and he said to let him think on it and come back today. Yeah I might have an addiction and need to seek help

10 pointsThat only happens at night too! My mother who (was short) and my sister (who is short) had a fire alarm system installed in the house when I moved out. The guys hung the main unit high in a hall way. One night the stupid thing went off (no fire). They didn't have a stool or step ladder to reach it. And it had a voice. It yelled FIRE FIRE GET OUT OF THE HOUSE IMEADIATELY!! over and over. They started throwing books, shoes and everything else but the dog trying to knock it off the wall. Finally they managed to get it down but didn't have a screwdriver to open it to unhook the battery. So they threw it out the front door ! Until the cops came!

10 pointsSaving fuel driving one vehicle, but wasting time driving around for two hours. Perfect!

8 pointsWith out getting into politics!!!! Just wondering what you all think about making Daylight Savings permeant?? https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-senate-approves-bill-that-would-make-daylight-savings-time-permanent-2023-2022-03-15/ This is something that I thought they should have done years ago. It sure would be nice to have a little daylight left after I got home from work during the winter, it might actually make me feel like doing something during that time.

8 pointsWe had this disccusion ahile back and it was interesting to see what countries did it and how the whole thing came about. Old Ben gonna roll over in his grave! Yeah I head to work around six am and nice to be a little light out but extends my cocktail hour out abit. Guess I wont hafta worry in a few weeks... I'll be retired and it will always be five somewhere! December 31 every year BEFORE you uncork the bottle tho! Beer thirty...

8 pointsMounted the tires on the rims today. Normally I would mount a set of brand new tires on my resto's. This one on the other hand will be getting a set of 55yr old original Wheel Horse tires. They are not perfect but they are in good condition for their age.

7 pointsSo I ordered a complete decal set for my 78 C-101 8-speed refresh from Terry, aka vinyl guy. However he sent me a set for a C-121 Auto instead. The correct set is on the way. Since he did not want me to mail them back I told him I would post them on here for someone that may need them for FREE. So if you are in need of set C-121 Automatic decals let me know and I will put them in the mail. It's a very tiny box so no worries. Dave in Virginia

7 pointsHow would the deer know what time to come out and stand broadside in front of me? How would the roosters know when to start crowing? When are we going fishing and what time does the gate open on Thursday morning at the Big Show?

7 pointsThis could get real pic heavy ... nothing vintage tho Richard Missus on her 702 & Dan's C-141, @Achto on a 701, @prondzy on a 877 chain piling. The Dino on a 857, @Coulter Caleb on @19richie66's skittles with @Lane Ranger and @lawnman_56 photo bombing!

5 pointsOne of the times we were in Vegas, the Hotel water tasted like chlorinated pool water. I have been known to brush my teeth after breakfast with a cold beer!

5 pointsThe voltage regulator’s “L” terminal is powered through the regulator from the “Bat” terminal. The “L terminal then supplies current to the ignition switch to power the coil. Without the ammeter in the circuit there is no power to either the “Bat” terminal or the “L” terminal, thus no power to the coil. You could try just joining & insulating the two ammeter wires to reestablish the circuit until you get the ammeter hooked up. -JD-
-
4 pointsCombination of @Achto and @J854D advice. I didn't have power supplied to the battery terminal, and then once I did that I was constantly powering the coil so I installed the key switch. Between the two of them I was able to get a spark.

4 pointsIt’s like cutting a foot length off of one end of a blanket, sewing it onto the other end, and then claiming the blanket is now a foot longer.

4 pointsUnless we go back to Standard Time that hour is lost forever. What about Arizona, they stay on standard time all year long, where will they find an hour to lose, not too sure it is reasonable to ask 7.3 million people to give up an hour just to make it confusing for @Pullstart's roosters and deer. I bought a clock radio about twenty years ago that sets itself to the correct time when you plug it in and was programed to change itself to and now if we go to DST all year long I will have to store the clock out of sight half of the year. Congress needs to address the added expense of replacing my clock. I'm on a fixed income and will need a Clock Subsidy if this becomes law!

4 pointsOh so VERY close! Have to adjust a bit more. But this is the closest yet to a dual color dash!

4 pointsOh, yeah. I can relate to that. My mother-in-law was a heavy smoker at a 2-family house we owned. Got a panic call from the other side tenant that there was an alarm going off next door and some kind of commotion - went up there just as she had knocked the smoke alarm off the ceiling and was throttling it with the blunt end of a broom. No more noise from it - just me!
-
4 pointsI can confirm. When I picked up my Horse with sweeper I got only halfway up the ramps when I tried to back it up the first time. Thought the clutch or belt was slipping. Turns out the rear tires were floating
-
4 pointsAgreed. The BBT was at work last week or the week before and somebody brought up the fact that they were going to lose an hour. Like it was just gone. This is an hour that is going to go away and I will never see it again.
-
4 pointsMakes sense to me. Pick one or the other and stick with it. As an aside, there being absolutely no impact on hours of darkness, it is amazing to me how many people don’t get that…
-
4 pointsJust had a thought. How am I going to remember when to change my smoke alarm batteries??
-
4 pointsI... Ok ok ok ok ok ok. I'll just be over here sitting in the corner quietly laughing to myself about the fact that the above line Is in a thread full of well-cared for tail ends... OF TRACTORS.

4 pointsMissed this thread. Some really nice photos here to drool over. You can tell the extreme pride of the owners for sure by the age of these tractors and the condition they are in.

4 pointsRight there is when things go down hill for me! Absolute treasure.....even at 800 Maybe you can work at lumber yard part time in the evening. Might save you a bunch of cash! My luck my wife would be my boss!

4 pointsBefore you do anything, take a good look at your transmission. Is it clean?? Does it look like someone has been in there?? Is your shifter sloppy??

4 pointsWas the electric clutch getting voltage when the switch was turned on? Many times the vibration of the engine and the load placed on the electric PTO clutch will cause the epoxy that holds the wires in place to fracture and the wire will vibrate and eventually break. Here is a good thread on the PTOs.
-
4 pointsNow check the secondary windings (meter set to a higher resistance range, perhaps one thousand to twenty thousand ohms) and refer to the second drawing. Once your engine comes to life you should check the ignition timing. The points gap is also your timing adjustment. The Kohler service manual shows you how it is done.
-
4 pointsThe regulator will not effect power to the coil. It is for charging the battery only. Power to the coil will come from the key switch. 1- Check to see if you have power to the "+" side of the coil when the switch is on. The "+" side needs to have power with the switch on. 2- The wire from the points and the wire from the condenser needs be hooked to the "-" side of the coil 3- The "-" side of the coil should be grounded when the points are closed. Even with new points I run a piece of paper or a dollar bill through the points a few times to clean them up. Also make sure that the points are opening and closing. Note : Once you know that you have power to the "+" side of the coil, DO NOT leave it powered up for long periods of time with out the engine running. You will damage the coil. I try not to leave it powered up more than 30sec at a time.
