Well, by the sound of it, you are going to pull the trans and open it up. No matter what is wrong inside, it is fixable. Whatever you do, do not force anything at this point. One of the 4 differential bolts losing a nut is an excellent guess. So is a stripped axle gear and/or pinion teeth. Any of those would cause the symptoms you have. Here is the thread you want to look at. This is for the 4 speed, I explain the difference if the videos.

I'm new to the forum, just picked up a B100 auto. Got a lot of work to do and hope I can find help here. So, hello to everyone and looking forward to this little adventure.

If you feel the need to beat the snot out of a piece of equipment, Get an old MTD. They are plentiful and the junk yards are full of them for a spare part supply.

@Jennifer @sjoemie himselfThat can be used for many different crops, you just have to change the seed plates.Did yours come with them? Yours is only the third one that I’ve seen that’s complete with the row marker. I have one complete with everything including the manual!

Here are some pictures of a Hollar steel wheel cultivator of mine I've been working on here and there. I'm very fortunate to work at a lawn and garden/ ag dealership with a motorcycle lift I can borrow from time to time to work on small projects of my own on lunch or in the evenings. What I'm working on now is a one wheel cultivator that was manufactured just a few miles from where I live in Singers Glen, VA. You see quite a few of these around here but they were sold and shipped all over the US. While there are a lot still around, it's fairly unusual to see one with an original or at least period correct engine. Almost every piece of these cultivators with the exception of the engine, throttle cable, and pulleys were made in house. This particular example was the 76th built in 1949.

And guess what! She finally runs with the correct type engine. Hydro is super strong and so is the engine. Bit of smoke on startup but it disappears immediately. She has come a long way in 10 months.

I doubt it is stuck between 2 gears, the 857 transmission had the improvements made to the shift rails. Besides, the horse would not move at all if that was the case. It really does not matter at this point. The abuse of a beloved 857 (I have one) has caused it to be opened up. It is fixable, and hopefully the abuse is not done again. Sorry, I know it is your horse and you could burn it in the street if you wanted...but why do this to a 65 year old piece of Americana??? I just shake my head trying to figure out why some young people have to destroy what will still last them another 50 years if taken care of.

Hung the wind chimes that @kpinnc was waiting for & sprayed a fresh coat of red paint on the garage floor today, even managed to get a little paint on my parts. Jim I found another axel seal in my double secret stash ( it was even a secret to me ) After spraying paint I had time left in the day to sand blast my parts that would not fit in the blast cabinet. Next up will be to get the body work done on the sheet metal so that it can be painted.

Do yourself and your Wheel Horse a favor after you get her fixed. Find a local Garden tractor pulling club that has the right kind of pulling sled. One like the big tractors and trucks use. it increases the load after you start moving so you aren't yanking away to get it moving.

Entire contents of a long-time Wheel Horse dealership (60's thru 2020), it took 5 people, 7 hours, 1 enclosed trailer, 1 open trailer, 3 full size pickups. The owners of this dealership had an auction years ago and sold off the equipment, but kept the parts. And then they sold the building with the contents in it...... More photos to follow as I get thru it ( it will take months! ) I have very little idea as to exactly what all I have since I had so much help, but there are parts here ranging from RJ's to 520's and everything in between.

@JCM, @c-series don I’ll complete the trifecta with a 418-8, althought not as nice as either one of yours.

If you are 'switching' gears on-the-fly, THAT is a NO NO. Every gear you select MUST be from a standing STOP. These are NOT synchromesh transmissions and on-the-fly gear shift is highly detrimental. The whole shifting problem MAY be at the shift forks, which is adjusted by the DOG-POINT screw where the shift lever fits into the transmission. Have a look at this pic...may help.

Started out my day by spraying a little paint. I chose to spray white today so that I had time to put my tranny back together. This way the tranny could get sprayed red tomorrow. @WHX?? caught wind that today was the day to put the tranny together so he was nice enough to stop by & lend a hand. Much appreciated too, specially when it came time to put the detent balls in, always nice to have an extra set of hands for that. Thanks for all your help today Jim!!! Should be ready to lay down a whole lot of red paint tomorrow.

They are IH off white. I'm not a big fan of the straight white.

I bought my 1995 520H in march of 2019 to replace my 1975 C160 Hydro. i bought it from a member on the forum that lives in Illinois. The hour meter quit working around 1,110 hrs. I would be safe to say it probably has about 1,500 hrs on it today. It has had the engine rebuilt and probably has about 60 hrs on it since it was gone through. The valve seat issue was addressed at that time as well. It has been a great workhorse. It always starts well even after sitting for a month or more in subzero and freezing weather. It doesn't use a drop of oil and I'm always amazed at its torque when snowplowing or pushing dirt with my 54 inch blade or mowing deep grass/weeds with the 48"deck. Only thing I wish is that all my gauges worked. Otherwise it is perfect!

The 700 and the 1100 attach to the same transaxles but with important differences. The 700 uses an adaptor collar so there are two gaskets--motor-to-collar and collar-to-transaxle. If you haven't separated the collar from the motor then you don't need that one. That said, there is no standing or pumped oil that high up in the transaxle with either hydro so the gaskets' jobs are to make a basic seal for splashed oil, to accommodate any slight discrepancies where the metal surfaces meet, and to provide the right spacing to meet the gear meshing specs. The collar (aka Hydro Adaptor) is #24 and the gaskets are Nos. 5 (#7951)and 25. Number 25 (#108319) is used by both 700 and 1100 and that's the one in the link you sent.

Been splitting and stacking logs. Even using the log splitter makes my back ache. Sitting relaxing now and enjoying the smell of Carol's baking.

Bad bearing would probably have been noisy first. Most likely broken differential bolt. High shock loads like yanking on a chain are not good. As my father would say "You broke it you fix it"

My first Wheel Horse was a 1977 B-100 8-speed. Great tractor. When I started to restore it back in 2009, I discovered RedSquare. I was a consumer of knowledge then. I still am. You will a find an abundance of info here. Not only manuals and such, but a crap-load of guys and gals eager to help you.

Will the rear wheels turn at all? If the rear wheels will turn about a quarter turn then the problem could be one of the bolts in the differential has broken or the nut came off and is striking the case preventing more movement.

We have the manual also was told to be new old stock still has the dealer price tag in the fertilizer hopper! The gentleman said that he had it in his possession for 20 years never been in the dirt! Sadly only came with one disc/plate and unfortunately it’s the lettuce carrots and onions…. Here’s a list in the manuel of its planter options!

If you can find a used piece of medical equipment called a patient lift, made by Hoyer or Invacare, it will lift up to 500 pounds. I picked one up for $100, and used it for the K301 in the picture and for an Onan P220. Probably saved myself $500 in doctor bills and physical therapy. Check Craigslist or Facebook. Good luck. Save your back.

Yes those are all rental carts. Add in everyone that brings their own, plus all the side by sides and it gets really crowded. Still a good time though!
