Weather guessers are all over the place on accumulation, so I just came in from a quick cleanup in case we actually get the full 18”. This was maybe 6”

Was across state lines before the sun came up & made it through the boarder before the game warden could catch me. 542 hour 314-H with snowblower. I had my guard dogs with me just in case 😏

I finally (almost) finished setting up one of the two tractors I'm setting up with snow blades. I only got two inches, but that was enough for my trial run.

the single stage cut through this light fluffy 4-6in of snow like it was butter. That was the kind of snow I wanted to see all season. Did most of the driveway with my snowplow, but had to make a nice bathroom area for the dog with the blower.😅

For such a giant crankshaft it looks to have a very short (proportionally) stroke. I don’t imagine they rope start that thing. steve

Regarding the color I went with 3k as it was said here that the 6k might offer too much glare off of snow. My blaster lights are 6 k and glare is not real terrible.

Nothing but strong winds here in South Yorkshire. Really gusty and a bit scary with stuff being blown all over. No snow in the forecast but you never know. I'm a dedicated home husband now as Sandra has decided she wants to go out to work again. So not only do I have to look after the grounds; I have to clean house, cook meals and look good when she gets in! A womans lot is not a happy one 🤣🤣🤣

Be careful with he overrun on the winch. When I had that setup I had to install a big spring in line after breaking some parts.

Snow has started to fall. I'm getting closer to having a new plow tractor. Front weights and chains are on so far.

Giving the 314-8 a Work out! We have about 8" of not fluffy or slushy snow. Kind of "in between snow". The wind was horrendous and COLD!!!!!! I wish I had a cab for the girl, but insulated coveralls did the trick except I couldn't find my dirt bike goggles so my eyes were kind of cold at times when I ate a face full of snow when the wind decided to change direction without telling me beforehand. video-1643500184.mp4

Should be able to find it anywhere Newbie.... auto parts places or TSC .... jungle place you'll find it all day. Search tire bead sealer. I'm usually with EB on the tubes tho. I couldn't get these to seat and not leak for love ner money. 6 ply skid steers with sidewalls stiffer than a wedding p. I don't think the tire to rim geometry was right so I just run them flat! Them wounds are definitely honorable. .. pullstart would be proud!

Find some red paint. Apply it to your tractor. If it looks good and you like it, that's Wheel Horse Red. If you ever go to the annual Wheel Horse Collectors Club show, it's a sea of red with not many tractors being exactly the same color. But they are all Wheel Horse, they are all red, and that my friend is "Wheel Horse Red".

Rear ice chains are on along with the wheel weights and another 50lbs of weight. I think Hiram is as ready as he is going to be for this storm. If he does well maybe a cab will be something to think about. Time for a hot beverage and watch this white stuff pile up.

Just remember rocks come back year after year...Freeze thaw cycles push them up from deeper down...

I’ve been plowing with this one for over 10 years now. Perfect combo of 48”/ 5 sector plow, wheel-weights, grippy traction tires and HP.

@Achto that simple grounding enhancement has eliminated my electrical gremlins , of course , any obvious other problems were also taken care of . consider that a main ground line from , battery , thru chassis to lights . others have said there is no need to ground engine / chassis . I think of it as an an easy opportunity , to verify solid ground flow. that bolt on lug with serrated washer and dielectric grease , is an assured ground / simple easy go to . when i turn my ignition key start , its like , solidly engaged . this set up works for me , others will say there is no need , you can do a simple alligator clip on wire test run , to try it out , THATS WHAT I DID , the difference was consistently / solidly there . many hours on this , worth a trial run , pete

@TJ Salyers how about this ,https://www.amazon.com/Vstar-PAR36-Halogen-Landscape-Waterproof/dp/B017IFJ93I?th=1 , bulbs are very bright , crisp and clear. neatest thing is the very low amp draw, also have walmart led tail lights on my 3 horses , exact replacement for rear reflectors , as with any related wiring , if you have a nagging problem , get that fixed , BEFOR ADDING TO IT . been increasing my ELECTRICAL GROUNDING , for every function . best ground starting point ? battery ground cable , mount bolt , behind dash . have that cable connected to , engine corner / frame , near clutch pedal , add electrical lug to that corner bolt , 10 / 12 ga wire , from there to charging rectifier mount bolts , on engine ,and from there to head light ground , better starting , charging and bright lights . have this on my 3 horses , lots of hours , no problems. pete

Looks like the winch will be pulling back on the plow frame rather than up. May want to run the cable through a pulley block near the top of your brush bar.

The design like any other has room for improvement. I think if it were a horrible design there wouldn't be thousands of them still working 50-60 years later. It works just fine when used for the loads it was intended for.

Exactly Ed... Subs have wicked air systems. Huge sauage shaped tanks inside the ballast tanks held 4500 psi air that was regulated back down for various ships use. Big electric oil pumps were started and once heated oil was up to pressure air valves were opened to get the garbage can sized pistons moving. Once the crank was rolling to 50% of governed speed air injection was shut down to select jugs and the fuel valves opened starting fires in those jugs. That kept her rolling until the cylinder temps in the other jugs were up then air shut down and fuel opened and she would really take off. Older WWII diesel boats were tricky and each engine liked to be started a little different. A good engineman knew exactly how to do it as all the valves were operated manually and the guy moved like a monkey across the twenty ft length of it opening and closing valves. Engine rooms were very hot & noisy. Modern day nuclear boats its all done by computer with automatic valves & the push of a bottom from a climate controlled sound proof room. Still need a watchstander in the engine room tho in case something goes wrong. Wished we had cameras and could have taken pics in the day.

Nice clean plow job with that C- 120-A Inspector. Hope to have a restored 417-A for next Winter when I pass on my 36'' tiller to a member who will put it to good use.

Yes, the submarine engines likely use the air injection, but I'm not a sub driver. I'm more of a sub eater.

@ebinmaine fly fishing , battle creek Montana, 200 + thousand acres , owner had a D 9 CAT , always taking care of maintenance areas. discovered 2 pick up trucks in creek area , not verified to anyone on the ranch. jack, the owner completely destroyed those 2 trucks , THEN CALLED THE LOCAL SHERIF , trespassers were never to be on ranch , or use its facilities . both trucks and trespassers were removed from ranch , fished there 5 times , never heard of any other trespassers , Montana style , pete

I decided to fix. replacement rims were a bit much for me price-wise. Pretty much done with fixing my horse. I still need tie rod ends and the steering wheel may not be correct. Thank you for the input!

If your using the remote, you need to disconnect the power when not using it as it will pull the battery down. I just disconnect the ground wire from the battery when it's not needed. Was going to put a 30 amp big truck light switch on it never got around to order one.

Woke up to about a half inch of snow and ten degrees outside, haven't got anywhere to go so think I will stay inside and let it melt on its own. Sunday's high is forecast to be fifty degrees.

13F and 25MPH here this AM. Hard to tell how much we got. Some areas are blown bare and some drifts are up to a foot. The bare spots are showing a sheen of ice. . I think I'll wait until the drifting stops tomorrow before I plow. The neighbors don't work week ends. STAY SAFE UP NORTH
