13 pointsCreated a trash hauler for the Horse the other week along with my neighbors WarEagle version using the main water shutoff. No lifting needed for pickup or drop off either. Making trash day a little more fun. Simple to install with a pin. Maybe a bit over engineered but it’s solid like my Wheel Horse!

13 pointsWhile doing a little surfing on the net I ran across this little gem that was made by Simplicity in 1957. Can you imagine if this thing would have actually been a popular hit on the market??? With AC and drink cooler, I would mow the lawn every day during the summer. I short write up on this Wonder of the world. https://www.vintag.es/2018/11/the-power-mower-of-the-future-1957.html

7 pointsWell with any kind of luck I should have a gasket set in the mail today for the big twin engine for my big wheel tractor project. I told my female BBT other half that I'd like to try to get some paint plopped on that thing maybe Sunday. Just a couple minutes later I get a notice from Google photos about the rememberance of what happened 3 years ago. That's the week we put the engine on what was then a c-160 project. Cinnamon Horse. I thought that was interesting...

7 pointsThe nice part about being home everyday is that my wife doesn’t see the horse parts arriving daily.

7 pointsPretty common for us late 80s to have rifles and shotguns in the truck window. Never had a single instance of them being used at school. I'm guessing someone raised us to respect firearms and what they were for.

6 pointsOriginally it was a 1077 , now it’s has a 12hp K301 in it. Mason and I brought it back to life and now we are taking it apart to clean it up . We took the battery tray and the dashboard out to sandblast them. It’s giving us something to do during the day since we both tested positive for Covid and are quarantining together.

6 pointsThey have found the suspect, not even a student of the school system. Our students are “safe” once again and are back in class this morning.

5 pointsNumber of poles only determines the frequency of the AC output, that and the speed of rotation. Output voltage is a function of the number of turns, and strength of the magnets. Don beat me to it!

5 pointsI got an ignition switch from @76c12091520h Brian Badman. Because it's a change from OE and my custom wiring harness I modified the schematic diagram BBT had printed out for us the other day. Finished up the wire installation using a 5 prong replacement holder @953 nut had mentioned awhile back. One of the ingenious PO modifications was to drill the original switch hole way too big instead of finding the correct switch. I found a couple thin washers and drilled them out a bit so they would hold the new switch snugly. New switch is set right in nice and happy with a keychain from @wheelhorseman Lowell at Wheelhorse Parts and More. Last known thing to do is make up a wiring harness for some nice LED lights and mount those in pre-existing holes.

4 pointsHello from Surrey, England, United Kingdom! My name is Fergus and I have a 212-5 which was given to me by a friend. I use it for light duties around the garden and I would like to find a cutting deck for it. Here's my wife using it, which she very much enjoys VID_304861116_155826_077.mp4

4 pointsNo apologies necessary Paul ... well let you slide this once but not all of us are blessed with a long drive or acres to mow so we often have to conjure up reasons for SWMBO to buy another tractor or add acoutrements to ones we have. Me: Going down the road sweetie to make sure the neibors got cleared out. Her: Don't they have a plow? Me: Yes they do but it's an old 8N and breaks down alot. They might need help. I best go to make sure. Her: Yer just angling for seat time ain't you? Me: Got that that right.....

4 pointsMake sure your crankcase breather is not blocked and is on correctly. There is no seal on that gov shaft. There isn't usually a lot of oil there. Could be excess crankcase pressure forcing the oil out.

4 pointsOrganized chaos is what I got. I've heard that it is a trait of creative people. Not that I'm creative, so not sure what my excuse is. When ever you throw something out, you find that you need it a day or two later.

4 pointsI would bet @Tractorhead could explain all this to the point where none of us would understand it.

4 pointsThe number of magnets in combination with the stator coils determines the number of current reversals per rotation of the flywheel. I'm guessing 18 coils on the stator so 9 "plus" and 9 "minus" pulses per rotation. In tech-speak, that's 9 hertz at 60 RPM (vs. 60 hertz for your household AC current). The size of the magnets and number of windings in the coils determines the voltage/amperage of the output.

4 pointsThank you. We have to go out in the garage in short spurts because we don’t have the energy. But we are improving and spend more time out there than the previous day. I’m kind of glad we are going through this together. I don’t know what he’d be doing if I was at work all day. He is really enjoying tinkering with the 1077 . I’m enjoying being able to have the time we have together tinkering with it. He might be missing a lot of school right now but he is learning a lot of mechanical and life lessons right now.

4 pointsLooks like George Barris left the Kustom Kar business and went into the lawn equipment business for a while.

4 pointsWhat you don't understand is that Mike can't get down to the floor and if he does, he can't get up. You have to understand how it is with some of those old guys
-
4 pointsThey don't "have" to be pretty, they have to "function" correctly. Some people like them looking shiny and new, while others like them rusty and sweaty. And still others like them somewhere in between. Some even like horses a different color altogether. Then even some chop them and make other things out of them. There's no right or wrong, it's yours do as you please. The only thing most of want is to Honor the tradition that is WHEEL HORSE.

4 pointsI called the local radio station, told them I was the principal, and school would be closed on account of snow. Hardly anyone showed up. The real principal was really ticked. I was 15. Didn't tell my best friend until we graduated...

3 pointsI'm with Squonk. Typically it's going to be crank case pressure pushing oil out. There's no "bushing" or seal there but oil needs to be pushed out through that hole for leaking. Otherwise it just drips back down to the pan. Clogged breather or not installed properly. Or excessive blow by on the rings. Also looks to be overfilled if that much oil is pushing out. Check the level without screwing the dipstick plug into the case.
-
3 pointsSorry Paul but pretty stupid ? On this forum anyway. Did you not see the thread where a guy built up a 520 just to go 10 foot to get the mail? I might be off on my terminology but pretty sure it's called seat time!
-
3 pointsI have Carlisle tru power 23x10.50 ags. Also a lot of weight. 180lbs of cast iron suitcase weights, 80lbs cast in each wheel. Still slips a bit. On the front I have worn out dry rotted turfs which offer little traction and no weight up front. I might use the roller chain the get more traction up front.
-
3 pointsMy horse(s) with no name(s) Ready for snow is my stock 314-8 and C-165/8 K341AS custom that stands ready for power outages. Some of the custom parts are the swept axle with the 1" spindles, and wide rear wheels from a 520 and 2" wheel spacers along with other mods. The longer wheel base, wide stance makes my Black Hood, unmistakenly mine.

3 pointsI was going to say something but figured it be like talking to the wall..... Comes a time in a man's life when he has to put the engine order telegraph in all stop and clean his work space. Ain't that right Dan... Sides if my shop was as big as yours I would pitch a bunch of junk and have everything neatly disorganized... Ok off to Horror Fright for one of these.
-
3 pointsI bought one a year or two ago because I read where it would be handy on doing something particular. The two of us tried it out once or twice on doing different things and I liked it so much I bought two more of different sizes...

3 pointsI used to have a dead blow hammer like yours, many years ago, bought from the “SnapOn” dealer who used to visit. After about 25years the plastic became brittle and began to shatter when used. A good hammer though, while it lasted!

3 pointsJust caught myself in the act. Talking to myself. Taking measurements, debating where to put stuff… I need to move my toolboxes and vertical steel rack to make room for my new smoke stack hood vent system for the smoker. Yes Uncle Jim, I also spent a few minutes rearranging a tray of tools in my Craftsman set that dumped the other night. Then I need to find room for everything else in this bay, to get Norman inside and start working on numerous projects he needs attending to. Main one, Injectors. Long story short, all those 10 minute jobs that need to be done in 5? They added up again. Can’t find crap.
-
3 pointsYou should have 18 post on the stator 15 amp. output. I have tested as much as 41 voilts AC.
-
3 pointsExactly. We would both rather be in the garage than in the house. Thank you. We are doing a lot better than we were last week.
-
3 pointsMust be in WI tho..... pipe in right hand and possibly an old fashioned in his left.
-
3 pointsNot too far off the mark there! Guessing the thing would break alot so would have to have my kit next to the chair. Wonder if I could get her to mow in the buff?!?!? Maybe sell tickets... I work EVERYDAY ...just a matter of how hard...

3 pointsWH felt that the limited slip 5060 tranny needed more oil to adequately keep the differential lubricated. Your tranny should have an extension on the level plug (#71/72). Fill it til it runs out. I think you will use at least 2 qts. The over flow others talk about is from other trannies with out the extension.

3 points@TJ Salyers good going on that, just a thought , as part of your baseline service , if you do that , verify what works , and doesn't work, especially electrical connections , that crack / split and short out, replace those connections. thorough lubrication refresh . don't wait till you have a number of issues to solve. think that drive belt added venting , close to dash area , would be a smart upgrade , pictures on this site. that rear cylinder is a regular problem , due to overheating , packed grass. aerosol lubricant spray down , will instantly start to feed and recover paint, only a suggestion . good luck with it , looks promising , pete

3 pointsThanks Kevin. We are through the worst of it now. He brought Covid home from school last Thursday and I was lucky enough to catch it too. Now we just have cold symptoms. We are grateful to have this to work on. It’s like therapy, it helps the healing.
