23 pointsWarms my heart to see that the legacy left to me continues proudly onto the newest generation. My oldest grandson Gabriel at work building a stand for the Whirligig . Already moved up to father's bench which was my first bench built here in 1983. The little bench next to it was also built here in in 1986 for his father. The hand plane was built by his father when he was a teenager working on that same bench. At left of bench, on wheels it is my fathers journeyman's tool box.

20 pointsFigured I will get some responses with that title. Have had her from birth, not a days problem and still going strong. Showing her age but so am I. Was my first and was a great investment next to my wife, ( however wife has been more expensive) . Just some current pictures from our last snowstorm in the mountains of western Pa, 12 to 14 inches. It's been awhile since we had this much fun with this much snow, used to be very normal snowfall for January around here. Hope you all are having as much fun as I am, even though age is making it a little harder. Enjoy and stay safe. Bob

14 pointsWell, it’s been quite a while since I’ve been here. Last time was before the Big Show because the buy sell thread popped up when I came on this morning. When I last talked to you guys, my Dad was doing well and recovering from his cancer treatments. In late June he started having mobility issues. This continued to get worse through August. He could barely walk, almost just doing a shuffle a couple inches at at time. They still said the cancer was shrinking at this time (after being told earlier that only scar tissue remained). In mid September his blood sugar dropped drastically and he became very confused. They managed to get his sugar stabilized after almost a week in the hospital, but he was unable to walk at this point. Only a week or so later we returned to the ER to find out that the cancer was starting to grow again. They also told us that his brain was swelling along with some dead tissue seen on the cat scan. I was able to take him home under the care of home health. He was almost completely bed ridden at this time with his only mobility coming from me picking him up and placing him I. A wheel chair. Only about 3 weeks later, he had to enter hospice care. He was never himself after this. He stayed confused, almost never knowing where he was and for a large part living in his late teens or early twenties. I was blessed that my aunt knew a lady who wasn’t working who was an RN. I was able to get her to stay with Dad. He continued to decline until his passing on December 16th. The strongest, most kind, and very funny man I’ve ever known has joined my Mom in Heaven. It’s still rough without him. We are staying in his home, as he and Mom both wanted. I have been here since his diagnosis last January and never left him alone. It’s going to take some time to get moved, but there is no other place I’d rather be. We built his house together, doing all of the work ourselves except electrical, plumbing, and masonry. We buried Dad on December 20th. My 61 year old uncle was a pallbearer. The next day he was diagnosed with Covid. He went into the hospital a week later and passed 9 days later after Covid destroyed his lungs and weakened his heart. To say we’ve had it hard is an understatement. I’m still lost, but will pull through gradually with the help of God. I just wanted to let all of my Wheel Horse friends know what we’ve been through and to ask for your prayers. I hope to be here more as time allows as we get straightened out and attempt to return to normal.

12 pointsI made a trade with @ebinmaine a while back for a pile of parts. That is where most of the parts came from to build Hiram. There is still alot of random parts left. It's a shame for them to just sit around. So here goes another parts pile build. This is what I have freed from the ice so far. .

8 pointsNot looking to bad so far. Short frame, long frame hood and a bit of 312-8 thrown in.
-
8 pointsFrom Sunday until now, probably wound up with about 8 in of snow, got everything cleaned up. Tractors back in the corral. And now the sun is shining.

7 pointsFinally got a decent snow in Southern Ohio, guessing around 7 inches. I love summer and hate the cold, but the one thing I do enjoy is plowing snow on a Wheel Horse. I started plowing snow in the small town I grew up in (about 350 people) when I was a teenager. I have several family members who live in this town and we have a few Churches and some elderly folks that I always plowed their driveways. I have sense grown up, went to college, got married, had kids.... yet I still love coming back to my parents (about 15 minutes from my house) when it snows to plow everyone's driveways. My oldest son, now 17 has been plowing along my side since he was about 10....we make quite the team. This year I picked up a really nice 314-8 and for the first time decided to mount the rear suitcase weights on the back. This thing was a tank. This summer my son picked up a rough 418A at the WH show and restored it., and then during the fall, he picked up a really nice single stage snowblower. I got some nice footage of him blowing snow at a local Church, and he plans to upload it to YouTube soon. Thad (Ready for Summer)

7 pointsI'm not familiar with your model of tractor but with my square hoods I pull the gear shift arm out and fill thru there.
-
7 pointsWe got about 4" last night then freezing rain. Definately a plow snow. The blowers were useless. I got around 3 hours of seat time plowing the 5 driveways I take care of. Gotta love that 60degree heated cab.

6 pointsFinally found a muffler that is quiet enough for me. It's a Walker 22229. Sure isn't the cutest puppy in the basket, but she does the job.

6 points@oldlineman good going on that ! can relate , picked up my C-85 ,new on may 19th 82 , still have it , my favorite , did a 12 hp mag swap a couple of years ago , constantly upgraded anything it needed . might have to get a cake on it picture for that date . horses sure do stand up , also have to agree that wife has been more expensive , but she is a definite keeper , pete

6 pointsI definitely was having fun out there today spent two or three hours in order to get everything cleaned up real nice. As a side note a guy was coming up through checking transformers on top of the poles and he was quite impressed with what that wheel horse could plow.

6 pointsWell, I finally had time to actually measure the belt that has been on my tractor.... it measures 83 inches X 58" Kevlar. Not the 82 inches that is required. I already feel like an idiot so no comments in that direction please! I'll go get an 82" belt asap.
-
6 pointsYou will have to fix up the front tachmatic. There is an adapter plate set that I use part Number 8-5551. Picture 1 pic 2 shows then mounted on a Charger Search here other have bolted a regular front tach matic to the front of the tractor frame.
-
6 pointsYou are going to love it. I use it for grass cutting only. I find that it is a little quieter than my 416's and also starts faster.
-
5 pointsI forgot I had 2 of these. This may just stay in there. Unless something else comes along.
-
5 pointsYep. My 310-8 should be named "old faithful". Always ready to work, never lets me down.

5 pointsI'll bet it covers the louvers on top of the hood and blows hot air into the cab.

4 pointsChanged oil and filter, fuel filter and air filter in my 416H. Headed out of the shop to clear the 10" of fresh snow we got the last 2 days and ate the snow thrower drive belt. Backed back into the shop. Can't find my new belt that I bought last year. So off to the store to get another one. BIGMIKE

4 pointsLucky you Cas. I'll never know that feeling, don't have any kids. But on a lighter side, somebody has to do this, it might as well be me....did you run out of Red paint for that tractor..
-
4 pointsHere are mine. First Wheel Horse I got is a Bronco 14, next was an 856 (sold it) (no picture), then a 701, then 702, and then a 312-H.
-
4 pointsAnd black. Or charcoal grey... 23x8-12 is the "middle ground" size. That is what's in the pic below. 10.50 wide or 12 wide require wider wheels (at least 8.5 wide) in some cases. Carlisle makes great tires, and there are lots of other manufacturers as well.

4 pointsYou living in that part of PA, where are the sleds? I have family in Blair and Bedford counties. Some of them have had sleds for as long as I can remember. Nice Wheel Horse. I have a Bronco 14 and love it. It is my plow unit. We had close to a foot of snow. Spend 2 hours on sunday plowing and then another 4 yesterday. Plowed my driveway, two of the neighbors driveways and the cul-da-sac.

4 pointsAbsolutely great stuff, there, and I share your delight to be part of the passing on of knowledge and seeing the pleasure new skills can bring. Spent a chunk of this morning in the shop with my oldest grandson on our third or fourth joint project. His new favorite tool is the drill press to make wheels with a hole saw. He'd have made 50 of them if I'd left him to it (we only needed 10 for the tanker truck he designed).

4 pointsI received my new clutch spring today so I'll put that on to; even though I don't need it. Thanks LEE1977

4 pointsThis was common when I was young. The neighbor kid & I used to race our wagons down his long steep asphalt driveway. Of course "rubbin' is racing" so there was the inevitable and frequent crashes.
-
4 pointsAny of you guys ever ride your Radio Flyer wagon down a hill with the handle flipped back to steer with when you were a little kid? That amount of positive control is comparable to any garden tractor that travels over about 15mph. ...as is the common sense levels. The Darwin awards were created with such things in mind.

4 pointsIf you prefer not to remove the shifter, you can even relieve the case pressure / vent with one of the top 3/8” bolts in the transmission. These holes have been used for seat springs and sheet metal mounts alike. Thinking though, the fuel tank seems to be in the way there more often on the late model rigs.

3 pointsThank you. Screen time very restricted in their household. No regular TV whatsoever, only very carefully chosen programs from streaming services at specified times. No computer screen unless constantly supervised and absolutely no phones. LOL. This was actually right before the cold spell although it is warm in there. LOL. There just seems to me a monopoly on green tractors where ever you go. We may be an odd minority. In so many ways that it is hard to imagine. The feeling of witnessing our values ,heritage and what came from ones hands be cherished, valued and carried on is something that just there are no words to describe accurately.

3 pointsJohn Wayne said "life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid". I myself have gotten pretty tough over the years.
-
3 pointsThought about it a couple of times but there is a sharp turn in my driveway and a bunch of big Pines lining the edge so common sense (that I barely have) told me otherwise.

3 pointsOur first winter in North Carolina after moving from Florida my wife experienced here first snowfall, about three inches. She told everyone it was a foot of snow because it was enough to cover her foot.
