10 pointsok so i looked at pictures on tractor sites to find a old picture. i bought the 4 wheel wagon in 2012 from the information from the forum posts i made on it. here is a picture of the 502 pulling it on the day i bought it from the junkyard. then pictures of my 701 pulling it today since the 502 is in corner of shed needing a fuel pump and i dont feel like freezing my butt off more than i need to lol. on the picture of the 502 my dad who past in july of 2017 from lung cancer is on it. he loved that little tractor (more so after i got a kohler on it instead of the briggs he installed)

8 pointsI did some organizing and we cleaned up the work table. Spun the engine around and setup the super long strap wrench. BIG breaker bar and a half second's work.... The flywheel is off. Now BBT is contentedly sanding and cleaning the sheet metal in prep for paint.

7 pointsI declared I didn't like my original custom tail lights so I tossed around some ideas and came up with mini foil. I think it looks better and it will help traction at the higher speeds these Wheel Horses are capable of.
-
7 pointsMy computer started making a squeaking noise with dust and fur coming out the vents. Then a message popped on the screen. "Actual work is being done on Colossus! Hurry before you miss all of the exciting action!"

5 pointsHere's a few pics of the flywheel coming off. I needed to remove it for multiple reasons. 1. The big thing is that I was hearing a scrape-ish noise so I figured the magnets were loose. Yepp. 2. Also while we were in there might as well remove the last piece of tin and the starter. Setting up the wrench. 51" long, 3/4" drive breaker bar was a pretty good choice.

5 pointsI cut the 2x4 solid with that Metal Demon blade today and the blade made 1 1/2 cuts. Finished it with an abrasive. Unbelievable for a metal blade and way overworked it! Edit to add image of blade and giant steel chunk. See some of the teeth are missing? Don’t worry about this if you cut thin stuff.

4 pointsThis was a Craigslist find and guess what, it was FREE! It has the deck and front dozer blade. The BAD. The owner had kept it in his basement for 20 plus years with intent to convert it to a newer style control system but lost interest. Sooo it’s all ther but in boxes. I’d like to drive it I think it’s cool but time will to. He did have the original book as well

4 pointsIt's hard to beat a good running Onan. They have a lot of torque. They can be a bit expensive to repair if need be and do your research before you decide to make a repair as they are not real forgiving. I have a 520-H and it is a beast, all the power you could want in a garden tractor. I would like a 520-8 just because I like gear jammers better. The hydro one I have now will not be leaving me though. 7 Benny's is a great price for a good running/ driving 520.

4 pointsSpeaking from experience… You don’t get fat dumb and happy by being last in line! by the way, suppah’s almost ready! I just double foil wrapped the cow and added glaze to the pig!
-
4 pointsHaha. Yes it’s a counter weight my grandfather made when he first got the tractor back in 1976. The blower has no spring assist, just a counter weight system. Pretty smooth I think.. the tractor I got from him this past fall because he is to old to use it much anymore. I can totally put it to work. It’s in rougher shape than my c160 due to living outside most of its life.

4 pointsEven if you can charge the battery up it may still fail you . Load test is in order. Poor man's load test, hook up you multi meter to the battery, voltage should be about 12.6 if fully charged then try cranking it. If voltage drops down to 9 volts or less get a new one...
-
4 pointsYour battery is over 2 yrs. old and dead. The batteries may last 3 on average. Replace it.

4 pointsThanks for the replies. This machine is only going to get limited use around the yard pulling a trailer and a splitter and do some tilling so a little shaking won't bother me. I will kick the idle up a little too. I picked it up locally after a tree fell on it and broke the steering wheel and the seat pan. After a few parts and some TLC it turned out to be a solid machine and it's a hydro.

4 pointsA disturbing genuine lack of common sense and overall regard for their fellow humans. They'll either smarten up some or Nature's sorting system will do that for them by way of a Funeral Director. @1995 520H+96+97 That area of The Turnpike is certainly a challenge in the cold seasons. They were very lucky...

3 pointsThanks, GT14rider. I got it off. My first inclination is always the BFH...but it's nice to hear from someone else that I'm not likely to break anything...

-
3 pointsMany 310-8 had a 3 amp unregulated charging system. That isn't going to bring back a sick battery I think interstate battery put a time release suicide pill in the L&G batteries...

3 pointsI guess since we are "going there". I think the mods need to make an extreme modification section just for Snoopy and Red.
-
3 pointsHere in Western North Carolina we aren't likely to have any snow accumulation because the temperatures today are forecast to be above 40 all day and not go below freezing over night. Nonetheless, the 418-C has wheel weights, loaded tires, chains and the snow blade and will be on standby. Probably won't have much to plow but if I'm quick enough I may be able to catch a flake or two as they fall.

2 pointsWhat do you guys think of the 520-8 Wheel Horse with the Onan i have a chance to get one this year after i save up. Price 700 in great condition I'll get pics on here soon.

2 pointsThank you!! I took a video of it with my phone but it’s to large to share on this forum.. anyways, it really is a cool setup he created. It’s so sad thzt he is 82 now and can’t do anything much anymore.. his mind though is still sharp as ever!

2 pointsTrying some cow (Chuck roast) and double smoked pig (sister in-law’s family raised smoked ham) on the Traeger today. I am following these guidelines, but added yellow mustard and 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the once already smoked ham before tossing it on. Of course, the maple syrup is our own
