Santa not a dang thing but @Achto stopped over last night for a few tails and made me this! Tell them about drilling thru the mushroom gear for the wiring Dan. The holes in the pail shade were all drilled by hand & note the ag treads. The finial was made by @Wheel Horse 3D Is this thing cool or what!!!! Rated right up there with Kohler shroud clocks! Pics do not do the thing justice! Thanks Dan! He also made Cindy a display sign for The Flame at shows!

I'm really glad that you like the lamp Jim. If any one wishes to drill the 10mm x 8" long hole through a mushroom gear like I did to make the lamp, here is my advice. Chuck the gear up in a lathe, chuck a 10mm carbide bit in the tail section and pack a lunch. Cause your going to be there a while. The metal that used on those mushroom gears is harder than Chinese algebra. Nothing but fine metal dust coming off from the drill.

My favorites are the 1994 520H, and the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 ( currently under a refresh job ), because those are the two I have so far.

Happy Holidays to everyone . Got the 160 out of its slumber this morning. Wake up! It is time for work . I don't think it wanted to. I had to jump it. But? With a little boost? She fired up. It usually doesn't called up for work til spring . I hauled a couple loads of wood up to the shop. Here's some pics. Enjoy

I’ve put a lot of new parts into this C-100, today I got the last seal I needed to to put the belt on. It’s first shakedown ride went well then I threw my plow on it.

Well I love them. You can hang a front end loader on one without worrying about the strength of the front end. They steer super easy and the 1100 Eaton has the reputation for being super strong. They feel bigger than other classics. Most likely due to the tower and console. Gauges are nice. The Onans have more power than you really would ever need and they sound fantastic.

Several people here have mentioned WHs that they no longer own....How in heck does that happen???

I have had a number of different models in the past. The one that I keep wishing I kept was my 416-8. Yes I know it is not a hydro, and I have grown to love the hydros. In fact at the time I had the 416-8 I also had a C-161. The C-161 is also a great machine. If you force me to choose from the ones I have owned ... 416-8 then 1075, then the C-161

My absolute favorite Wheel Horse/s are the ones that have never let me down. I can say they have ever let me down... I suggest buying one of each.

I went to look at the L yesterday and ended up bringing it home. It seems to run and shift good, the brakes work. Battery probably needs replacing and there is no generator. Once I got it home, I switched the back tires around to get them in the narrow position. The images below, they're in the wide position. And they're 8.25-20, not the 6.00 or 7.00-22 tires that should be on it. The rear rims are incorrect, or are off a John Deere 62 or an unstyled L.

Long story short, none of this cost me more than 50 dollars or free each. Some people.... Cub 682 sitting 15 years with original KT17 parked because deck was shot. Free. John Deere 575 skid steer sitting 5 years since starter died. Starter is fine, ground wire broken. Free. Ingersoll 4018 sitting 3 years. Never used for mowing and pulled a garden trailer. 343 original hours. Was told motor threw a rod but was completely full of oil about 8 quarts. Free. Cub 108 failed project in progress. New points, coil, condenser and carb it wouldn't run. Guy didn't know how to time. Free. Troybilt Horse sat 2 years. Coil fell onto flywheel and shroud beaten with a hammer thinking it would fix it. Installed new solid state coil and blower cover. 10 dollars. Wheel Horse Auto 12 sitting 25 years outside but motor covered, not running yet but working on it slowly. Can't believe why something can be diagnosed and repaired easily is discarded so quickly. Not bad being a garbage man

Every time I get on one of my tractors that I haven’t been on for a while I think “this might be my favorite tractor” Then I’ll get on a different one and think “I really like this one too” and then I think that I like them all and that’s why I have so many!!!

I'm going to go with the 418-8 or A but they aren't that available so next choice would be the black hoods with the sixteen big K.

After 51 years the McIntosh ML-1C’s foam surrounds have finally given up. Time for fitting new surroundings so they will perform as they did half a century ago.

I work at a small engine shop and my boss always recommended against weights and hydros. I guess that only really applies to modern dollar store tractors😅 After hearing all this I guess I have to add a hydro to the family😄 thanks everyone for your opinion.

I wish I had kept better records. I'm guessing around 50 horses have slept in my barn during the past 30 years. I refused to let any sleep outside...so most moved on to greener pastures.

So, somehow my younger brother has been infected with the tractor virus. So to keep him from stealing my 310-8 constantly I’ve decided to start looking for another horse to do a complete restoration on with him. We’ve pretty much came up with a list of possible tractors that we’d consider but I’d like to know what’s y’all’s absolute favorite wheel horse of all time. I’ve been thinking 520-H, c-175, B-100, or just about any other attach-a-matic wheel horses so we don’t have to hunt down a different set of implements😅

Interesting how we each weigh things differently. To paraphrase the guys in Treasure of Sierra Madre (We don't need no stinking gauges) or any of the other electrical complexities of a 520. Don't really care about sound.. more concerned with reliability and repairabiltiy at a reasonable price... Don't have one, doubt i ever will. But hey we each like what we like.. Guess that is why there is vanilla and chocolate...

I'd vote for the mid 70s C series. Trina would want another mid 60s little square hood.
