And snow it begins. Don't worry gang, this tractor only spent the night outside. It's under a roof now.

Because I was tired of feeling under the tank for the gas shut off valve on my 867, I decided to do something about it. I replaced the old valve/tank filter with a inline filter that has a 1/8" NPT on one end and a 1/4" hose barb on the other and screwed that directly into the bottom of the tank. Then I bought a 1/4 turn valve with 1/4" hose barbs and installed it on the dash tower in plain sight. Finally, i removed the questionable fuel pump, made a nice 1/8" thick aluminum cover to replace the pump and ran the new gas line directly from the new 1/4 turn valve into the carb. Now , I'm happy to say, the engine starts immediately each and everytime. PS: I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I hope this picture doesn't disappears after a few days like my other ones do.

Finally got the seat on. I had to modify an old 520-H seat plate to make the seat flip up. Basically I just mounted it upside down. I had to fab a support for the pivot bolts as low as possible, but it works great. This was the only way to fully raise the fender pan with the blower mounted. Didn't get to take it home today. Gonna try again tomorrow. All that is left is the last of the wiring.

Other than tires, it's original.

I used 1/4" all thread to make j- bolts and used #9 galvanized wire and made loops on the end for the j bolts. Cost <$2

Batteries have a raised plastic ridge by the terminals to prevent this. Have several WHs with rods or a piece of steel plate never had an issue...

It is for a leaf collection system that uses the PTO.

You can with a 12" adjustable. I also have a 15" adjustable if the 12 is not enough.

I don't understand why that's important? Agree on the tighten loosen sequence. It's dang near impossible to get 25 ft lb out of an open end wrench unless you're Popeye!

We're as ready as ever. 3 snow shovels. Roof rake. Car top snow pusherer. 4 plow blades ranging from 42" to 61" width. One nice, near new Ariens commercial grade walk behind snowblower. Bring it.

I was mistaken, the bearing I needed was the 1518 not the 1531 I didn’t notice until I got it that the 1531 has a cap and was slightly taller. I misunderstood the spreadsheet with the bearing numbers, I thought the in end input bearing meant it was the inboard bearing for the input shaft since the axle bearings are also labeled in end and out end… turns out that’s the one I needed, unfortunately that’s gonna be another week. Live and learn I guess, on the bright side the actual on I need is like $3 cheaper.

@Mustang67ford Also just occurred to me... When you drain the transmission be sure to raise the front of the tractor as much as safely possible to get the fluid over the internal center hump.

The Raider name was used from '68 - '74 '68 and '69 would have the earlier square hood. I would date this tractor as a '70 - '74 I'm going to guess that it doesn't run right now, seeing that the carb is not on it. Turn the engine over by hand to see if it is free and feel for compression. Use your findings for bargaining. Either way at $200 that tractor would be coming home with me.

With blade deck and weights its worth 200 even if doesn't run right now.

Early picking

Make sure reservoir is full. Just operate all of the hydraulics and the air will be expelled when the return oil reaches the reservoir. I would drive it first to get any air out of the trans before doing anything else. Re fill the reservoir often to replace the oil that displaced the air. Air in the circuit will make things feel " spongy " because air compresses. Continue to operate the system to expel all of the air if that's the condition. Hot oil releases the air quicker because it's not as thick of a viscosity so run it until it's all warmed up.
