6 pointsBack together and ready to work. I still need to cut down the old belt cover and paint it. I don't usually run belt covers but I might need to on this one.

5 pointsSpent the afternoon in the garage today. Felt good to have a few hours un-interuoted to just tinker and wrench on the tractor. Previously, I had dubbed this tractor the "Night Ranger" as my plan was to do it semi-gloss black. This was my choice, even though I was building the tractor for my young daughter. I had picked up a can of Satin Magenta the other day, as I thought it would look super sharp on the Lawn Ranger. Not so bright and bubble-gum-y like a bright pink. I threw a quick coat of paint on the hood (came out like poop, but just trying to test the color) to see how it would look, and to see if my daughter liked it. Well, she loved the color, as do I. I think the pink with black accents will look super-sharp (vs a mono-chrome pink). So now, the Night Ranger has transformed to the Lady Ranger. Still have a lot to do on the project, but its nice to see it starting to piece together. Here she is, so far, with the test-color-hood. Excuse the garage mess, I need to do a full clean / re-organize.

5 pointsSecured the hubs, as they were dancing all over the place. Wet-sanded the hood, and cleaned and repainted my frontlight lens.

5 pointsI managed to break a lift cable on @Coulter Caleb’s 854. Uncle Jim @WHX?? came to the rescue with a Lowell product and we were in business! Caleb did the work and changed it out. Hoping to turn some earth today with my boys and my fellow plow dogs…or for those on the other side of the pond “plough dogs”!

5 pointsnot my first rodeo with big hauls… have you seen these photos floating around? this was following Mrs. P. telling me “you go get a new zero turn mower and you can have as many wheel horses as you want!” Just before the 2018 big show.

5 pointsBuilt a receiver hitch out of some scrap metal to move around my 25 foot equipment trailer. It towed great on mostly flat ground.

4 pointsJust cause I don’t have the hood squared away doesn’t mean she doesn’t have to earn her keep!

4 pointsChanged trans oil in the E 141… wasn’t to bad… Fabricated a custom belt guard out of a standard Black Hood guard. Works perfect. Rerouted some wires. Full lube all grease points and Everything else that moves… Took it for a long spin to see how long the batteries would last… after20 minutes I know it will do what I need to do… train rides usually last 10 minutes or so… She’s charging now… IMG_1048.MOV

4 pointsOne of the dead 312’s I dragged home a few weeks ago has fired up! Carb and fuel pump were both disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. She is alive and running off my “life support fuel tank” …now to remove the tank and clean it inside and out and get some new fuel line on her.

4 pointsI apologize for the post that showed up on here, it was not me. It was someone else with my phone. I apologize for the post, and sorry for all the inconvenience.

4 points@TJ salyers , yes sea foam does clean out the carb , do you have any gas filters on the fuel line ? debris is usually from the more commonly , ethanol break down of the original fuel line. you might change out the original fuel line for a clear vinyl fuel rated line. another good fuel stabilizer is , STA- BIL for fuel storage. that untreated fuel , is the possible culprit on a hard start . always treat your fuel , it helps keep it stabilized for easy starting , pete

4 pointsHad a productive day. Made my own wheel weights from a $40 weight set at walmart. 50lbs plus probably 5lbs for the hardware per wheel. Also fixed my headliggts and replaced the bulbs with LEDs. And got my mowing done afterwards.
-
3 pointsI did some digging around and came up with a cool old locking gas cap. I think it will make a nice faux radiator cap.

3 points@Terry M think that fuel shut off is uncalled for , use STA BIL IN ALL MY FUELS , and run clear vinyl fuel rated hose with 2 filters on my stuff , no junk in the fuel bowls , quick starts , regular ethanol gas , pete

3 pointsHome sweet….. We grabbed some dinner in town on the way home and now it’s time for a relax.
-
3 pointsI have to disagree with you on that, only because I found a particular circumstance where that's necessary. My generator sits in a damp area of my backyard. It's used 3-6 times a year. If I dry it out every time I'm done, it's a hassle and not ready for the next power outage. If I leave the fuel on, the bowl will gel up in as little as 2 months. I've found that closing the petcock, and running it until it stalls and then fill the tank all the way is the best bargain between the two. It never gels up even after 6 months, no room for water in the fuel tank and it's always ready to go on one or two pulls.

3 pointsAs far as I am concerned, @nylyon and Red Square own my transmission videos.

3 pointsModified a front weight mount I made in the past and mounted it, now have 65 lbs on front, Question if you run front weights how much do you use??? Good news while i was trying to get t bolts through the mount and frame I bumped against the tie rod, it fell off.. Dug out a spare and put it on. Checked the other one it was ok.. Pain but better in the shop than at the end of the driveway plowing snow. \

3 pointsCongrats on the haul, great job @Pullstart . Check your fuel guage. The only issue I ever had with my 2002 K-3500 Chevy Cab and chassis was when the fuel got below 5/8 of a tank it would drop to empty. That was a common issue with those. The remedy was to replace the guage package. Never had it done just kept it above a 1/2 tank and never had a problem. Other than that great truck.

2 pointsThat's the best way IMO and that typically dictates the direction and look of a build. Otherwise it be easier to just go out and buy something. Once you get all those parts from the pile on wheels it's easier to move them around LoL

2 pointsWe got it off, using a 2 jaw puller @Handy Donand some heat. May have not needed the heat, not sure about that... got the left side wheel hub off with the tool pictured a few frames above, but I don’t have a picture of it because it is on my old Android phone and I got an IPhone on the way home and have not figured out how to move them from an Android to an IPhone yet.
-
2 pointsIt's hard to say, but two of the hardest things we do to these horses is plowing snow (hitting snow drifts in 3rd gear) and plowing fields.

2 pointsTo my mind, it isn't about weight, it's about torque. The differential is intended to transfer a maximum amount of torque safely and then has some cushion for safety. Exceed that and "bang". My guess is that with stock engines up to 20hp and a transmission in good condition, the engine will stall before breaking something if the load is applied smoothly. Above 20 hp or a shock load? All bets are off. @stevasaurus you've seen busted gears. What caused them?

2 pointsI mowed with it yesterday. Great cut. Air flow isn't great like @kpinnc's Exmark deck. If I had been able to roll some baffles that would have helped a lot. I am getting a lot of clipping discharge out of the front edge. If I do something like this again I plan to use a Husqvarna or Exmark deck as a starting point. Still, it's been a fun project.
-
2 pointsThat is what I am thinking about... I have a long cabinet clamp... thinking... if I drill a hole in the work bench ()... I could put the clamp through the rim, through the workbench, and tighten the clamp. Then the real work begins... Don

2 pointsAwesome first tractor! As for first things first, check your oil and make sure it’s up on the mark. You’ll change it once you get it running and warmed up. Charge or replace the battery, check to see if it’ll roll over. The fuel system will likely need flushing and the carb will need cleaning and/or rebuilding. Then, put some fuel in a plastic bottle with a hole in the top and try feeding the carb some fuel (just a tiny bit) and see if it’ll chug at all. If not, we’ll have to address cleaning points and troubleshooting the ignition system. THEN… testing the transmission and greasing the tractor
