Put some new rear rims and tires on the 312-8

We had tourists on the green opposite our home this morning. There was four of them, but I could only snap three. Sorry for the poor quality but I had to act quick. There are three here. One more has gone through the hedge on the right. Three off down the bridleway. The fourth is in a field to the left.

Cleaned out garage floor today , moved some tractors around and removed a 42 inch mower deck from my 314 hydro. Getting ready to put the snowblower on the hydro for winter!

5 big wheels, in various forms or stages. One with melted wiring, one runner, one in need of an engine, one full project and one in the middle of nap time. @953 nut thanks again for turning on my big wheel switch!

Sad but happy day, have a horse leaving the herd. Headed for green grass in South Carolina Best of luck to a new owner, the 314h finds a now home today. This was my first WH, acquire her in 2018 in Maine. She has only 60 hours when I got her, she leaves today with 99.8 hrs. Hate to see a horse leave but when you care for these babies you want them to go to a good home.

found a set of plastic concrete filled weights at neighbors junk pile don't really know how heavy they are but believe they are approx 40 lbs? tried them out in the ditch and wow what a difference front end actaully gave some response should also help when i have @wheelhorseman1000 hitch on the back and load the trailer with firewood with the tire chains. would definitely prefer the cast iron weights but Free is always better in my book.

I finnaly added something to my trailer... After an inspection of superintendent the trailer is ready for when a new project pop-up or one of the horses have to go do some work somewhere.

I changed the little rubber washers in the metal fuel line that runs from the fuel pump to the carb. Leaked badly.... not anymore!! Remember this was a tractor I picked up for parts and ended up replacing the engine. @squonkpicked up the engine for me at the Big Show. I still need to replace the fitting on the gas tank. When I get to that I will paint the tank. I'm really happy with this 875. Runs fantastic and looks great. Not bad for a parts machine.

Husband put the 854 to work after yesterday’s all day rain we had a rut in the driveway and he had to play! The box scraper we got from @cschannuth. Recovering gravel from the ditch as well! Made quick work!

I'm going through the 417-A that I purchased a couple weeks ago. I found the idler pulley for the drive belt completely frozen. Here is a side by side comparison of the original parts and the new parts. The spacer sitting on the new pulley was completely gone. It's definitely been this way for a while.

I continued work on " Pale Face" my new to me 856 today. After getting the engine in running condition on an IV bottle Thursday, I turned my attention to the rest of the tractor. - Installed the gas tank , new petcock, and finished running new fuel line. Didn't find a tank strap @WHX?? - Drained about 2qts of water out of the transmission along with some super thick oil-ish substance - Drilled and tapped a drain hole in the front half of the tranny, so I didn't have to stand the tractor on end to drain the tranny. - Flushed 2 gallons of diesel through the tranny, one filling at a time. Fill it, drive around for 10min, drain it, repeat, repeat, repeat....... - Filled the tranny with 5w 20 oil, drove around for 20min, drained it and finally filled with 80 90w. - New shifter boot to keep the water out in the future. - Changed the engine oil - New spark plug - Gave all of the zerts a few squirts of grease. - Tweaked the voltage regulator a little to get the charging voltage up to 14.2vdc instead of 12.8vdc. ( Oddly enough it charges at 14.2vdc at about 3/4 throttle and 13.8vdc at wide open. ) After all the driving around to flush the tranny, I was quite impressed with how well this tractor runs and drives. So impressed, that I even purchased a battery so that it could have one of its very own. It may not look like much, but it sure is a nice running and driving tractor. Still a few "shoe man" issues to take care of but I wouldn't be afraid to put it to work.

Too dark out now to get any pictures, I'll try to remember tomorrow. No chance of a power point, less your talking about the drill bit spinning in the drill.

Close. Jacked the front as high as I could, Couldn't fit the drill under it square though. Moved it outside jacked it up again and dug a hole under it so that I could get the drill under it. Packed the bit with grease ( to catch any shavings ), drilled the hole. Then packed the tap with grease and tapped the hole. Worked out quite well. .

Moved some machines around, putting some to nap for winter time. 4 into the racks, one down for the chop shop, plus a tote of what could be called a GT-14 came down. I have room for 3 more to go into racking, but am short on pallets.

Could go either way with me. Nice and slow or slam it in. Depends on the mood, how much daylight left to mow or blow and how many other chores left to complete.

I just go steady about same speed as I would engage a car clutch… it works.

You need some paint on that green thing… or something… my eyes…!!!

The maintenance manual is clear on this spot. Grease VERY LIGHTLY. Not much more than a film on the roller bearing and race. Any extra grease that leaves this bearing will be thrust outward onto the clutch friction surface, corrupting it.

You need to adjust the PTO brake. Engage clutch loosen the two 1/4" bolts holding the brake Put a .012 feeler gauge between brake pad and PTO pulley. Hold the brake pad against feeler gauge and tighten the two bolts.

Lens cover, fresh decals and swapped the rubber seat out with a leather 3 piece seat. Next up is ripping out the 8 horse and getting the 10 horse ready to go in. I will clean up the engine bay and wiring also! Super happy with the look

The good ol' days. File some points, turn a few screws and your back in business. New electronics - Throw it away and buy new.

On a OEM Delco Remy regulator for a starter/gen there is a screw inside the regulator that will adjust the voltage output. It is very touchy, a little bump can make a big difference. Aftermarket regulators don't have this adjustment screw, you have to tweak the tab that the spring connects to.

It drills like butter. You will not get any curly shavings from the drill bit, only fine dust. Taps just as easy. I only drill for an 1/8" -27 pipe plug, mainly cause I ain't got a 3/8" pipe tap or a hand held drill with a 1/2" chuck. The 1/8" pipe hole works just fine. I add it to all my .

I gotta second that. @Achto Is cutting the threads in that cast iron case any different than reg'ler steel/iron? I've thought about doing a second drain on a few gearboxes but was afeeer'd I'd busticate the things.

@Brockport Bill good opportunity on that pto brake adjustment , ever grease the inner pto needle bearing , inside the drive cone ? you are right there , back off the belt tension , unclip the safety pin at swing bar engagement point , swing bar out of the way , remove belt , and slide off bearing cone . wipe out existing grease , lightly refill with a hi temp anti sling grease , lucas xtra heavy duty chassis grease , walmart $ 5 , made for hi temp drives , simple service, also give any related linkage some lubrication love , if you want to, just my experience , pete

Here is the early hydro tension parts list with the belt tension release. Early 520 tension.pdf And here is the later hydro tension parts list without the belt tension release. Late 520 tension.pdf As you can see, the main tension arm #40 and it's spring #37 is the same. You can basically just remove the release arm parts #46,47,49,42,29,,31,35,17. I just put washers behind the pulley #43 to space it out from the arm #40 so it does not rub and the belt lines up. Here is a pic of a machine without the release.
