14 pointsWell husband and I have the weekend off, well technically he’s got to run an errand this morning for work and then we are off to Michigan to pick up a front sickle mower for old rusty, should look real good on it! Then on to Ohio! We bought a rear tiller for the 854!! Wish us luck!!

11 pointsAbout a week ago I posted a question about my k241 intermittently misfiring and it was suggested I investigate the vent on my gas cap and the condenser which the cap was fine and after swapping the condenser, the problem persisted. Today I thought the carb may need cleaning so a in a quick test I took the carb off my perfectly running B100 and put it on my c100. Ta da it ran great at first but when I tried to drive it it sputtered and stopped. Frustrated I lifted the hood and it fired right off. I closed the hood and it immediately shut off. Now my frustration was turned to confusion. The culprit was the hood just barely touching the negative terminal of the coil. Pushed the coil down and problem solved. Perhaps I should keep my stupidity to myself but if it helps anyone avoid changing parts for nothing or worse buying new parts which thankfully I didn't do, it's worth it. Please see exhibit A below.

7 pointsHello All, Thanks @stevebo for once again hosting the meet and greet... super good time today espescially on the big ride. A special thank you again to Steve for letting me take his 1978 Yamaha 250 for a rip... it took 35+ years off the clock---I had a 1977 back in the day. It ran and sounded just like I remember---an absolute ripper! Tony Andover CT

5 pointsActually, that was pretty smart diagnosing the issue the way you did. Excellent !! It also shows why it is good to have more then one horse.
-
5 pointsWill post to find anything interesting here’s what we’re going after their pictures LOL

5 pointsIt was Pullhosen’s Pony Express for a bit. Haulin’ horses and wearing Lederhosens all across the land

4 points@ebinmaine will appreciate this one I’m sure! We stopped by a clean out today in a town about 40 minutes from home. A guy’s father recently had a crippling stroke and his mother needs to sell things from the barn to pay for the nursing home. It was kind of like an American Pickers episode… we were climbing through knick knacks and whatnots just looking. I asked if he had any garden tractor or small engine stuff and I was led to a barn full of mostly concrete tools. Found this K91 powered air compressor. It has a clutch on the engine PTO shaft and there’s an air switch that pushes the governor back to idle when it’s full. No idea if it works, but it seems like it was worth it.

4 pointsToday while looking at a couple of Wheel Horses, this 1954 German Eicher was there. All original and full patina. My mate Dunc has now got first dibs on it, when the owner finally decides to sell. Single cylinder long stroke air cooled diesel. Behind the air filter is a cooling fan driven by the centre pulley. Fired up straight away and sounded like sweet music to my ears. I'll put a couple of videos later. Unfortunately the WH's were to far gone for us. But we didn't come away empty handed. Dunc bought this handy trailer. Towing out with the Eitcher.

4 pointsDamn,I’m not going to make it. My wife and I just drove over 1900 miles this past week to get a mint condition 17 original hours signed by Cecil 420-LSE. I wanted to go to Steve’s on my way home but the wife wanted to come home. So guess what we did? Gotta keep the bride happy, this expenditure almost caused divorce!! Have fun guys I hope the weather holds out and please post pictures!

4 pointsI took the masking tape that was covering the Briggs twin brand decals off... I believe the tins turned out good enough...

4 pointsInstalled a Johnny Products Uni-Sleeve on my 1968 Raider 12. Bought it for another tractor but decided to sell the other tractor and bought my Raider. I fabbed up the bracket for the switch and the hitch adapter myself. Also had to modify it slightly (had to cut notches at the top) to clear the seat/fenders when its open.

3 pointsHere's the pics my local Photography Department took with the @WHX?? Camera. Some I want to call out. Bunny rabbit at the B n B where we stayed. @AMC RULES Craig taking a pic of BBT taking a pic. I had the pleasure of meeting some folks people to people today that I've known as online friends. @Rob R. @nylyon. A particular fascination of mine has been the work of those folks creating modern ignition systems for older engines. One of them is @Ed Stoller. Today I got to meet and converse with him. I now have one of his systems to install on an engine someday. And the rest.....

3 pointsHe ain't lying @ZXT I can vouch for that! Hauled a horse over for me and co-piloted on another score!

3 pointsReplaced the dry rotted turf saver front tires with Deestone tri ribs. The dry rotted turf saver rears were replaced with 23x10.5x12 Carlisle Tru Powers last week. I ordered 23x8.5x12s and thats what was on the receipt but they shipped 10.5s. Oh well.

3 pointsFinally made the mulching cover for the 42SD today. I had a perfect piece of anodized 1/16" aluminum plate in my "make from" pile. One cardboard box, a straightedge and some Sharpie later and we've got a template! I don't have a sheet metal brake, but two heavy duty aluminum chassis sides from an old piece of electronic equipment worked perfectly. There's gussets all over the place inside this chassis and a right angle at the top. Clamped in the vice with a few c-clamps underneath held the workpiece perfectly. Using a long bar clamp and two pieces of 1-by clamped to the top acted as a handle to fold the metal about 45 degrees or so, then I flattened it out with a rubber mallet. It worked perfectly! The it was back to the bandsaw for some notches and back to the vice for more bending. After some trial and error, it ended up a great fit. Not perfect, but sturdy and certainly do-able. At the back portion, you can see a plate PO installed below the height adjuster lever because of rot. I didn't have time to today to address it, will hopefully be doing a full restore on this deck in winter, but I used it as a clamp to hold down the back "wing" on the cover. I mowed the front today and it worked perfectly. 1 pass and all the leaves were gone, even with my very dull blades. The back could be a bit lower, but overall it worked great, so I'll keep it!

3 pointsI'm a a little pressed for time, so I stopped by the Toro dealer this morning to see if they had a new tie rod to replace the one that separated on the no name this week. They did, but the part supersedes the original 102592 and 102593 tie rods; It is adjustable and ambidextrous. Not inexpensive, but quicker than chasing bits and pieces to scratch build a new tie rod. Will try to get it installed this weekend.

3 pointsNot today's projects, but I've promised pictures. First the sub $100 trailer 'kit' I've picked up: Like I said, more of a loosely assembled kit suggesting what the final project should look like. It is a 6 x 10, so it will be capable of transporting a couple of horses. The door was side hinged, but it appears the option to convert it into a ramp door is there. Next is the work I'm starting in our 20 acres of woods in Ky. This picture is representative of what I started with: Several hours and a couple of tanks of gas with a brush saw on the Stihl trimmer resulted in this: Now I can get my laser level and elevation stick in there to shoot ground contours and start figuring the grading requirements for the site. Planning on a 36 by 48 metal arch building here. Next trip to Ky., I'll have to pack real chain saw along. On this trip, I just had a 10" battery powered B&D saw along for light limb trimming. Wasn't going to try to fell trees with it. The C195 sure would be handy working in the woods. Got to get the trailer done so I can get it there.

3 pointsCongratulations on that purchase! Don't forget to make a thread or do a post or spill the beans or tell us about it or give us a bunch of pictures! You could always let the bride rest for a few weeks and then toss her in the vehicle on the way to Maine.... 😀

3 pointsBOOO! This evening I hope to scare the daylights out of our 5 and 3 year old grandkids. All my props rely on gravity and are triggered with tug lines. The ghost on the zip line will chase us down the yard. Bats will fall out of the tree and an LED bug will fly down a 30' zip line made of fishing line. No photo but there is also a motion detector security light in the trees. The finale is 3 parts, another LED bug taking flight as the shed double doors violently open. A delayed action by the doors will release a bright lanten sliding down a track as if is coming for the kids

3 pointsI love the simplicity and interchangeable attachments. Simply elegant design.

3 pointsto the forum. Good looking machine. I tinkered some more with the C195 today. Discovered that the high speed needle is slightly bent while I was cleaning the carb. The needle valve , splash shield, and bowl gasket were still in pretty good shape, so I reassembled it and hoped for the best. I also made sure that the very fine wire handle on the float valve needle was around the tang on the float when it went back together. Mounted the carb back on the tractor and hit the starter after letting the electric fuel pump come up to pressure. The engine fired on the first or second turn of the crank. Took a parameter patrol ride around my property. Had to stop once to tweak the idle and high speed needles. Runs a whole lot better now. I even stopped and backed up to a tree to perform a 'wheel spin transmission test'. It passed. I do have an annoying rattle in the clutch lever. I think the drive belt took a set while the tractor was sitting for almost 20 years. That kink is probably what is causing the rattle. Installing a new belt won't hurt anything.

3 pointsMoved some tractors, implements & engines around with the FEL tonite . My Lord how did I get along without this tractor. My back thanks it. Now all I have to do is get someone to hook and unhook for me so I never have to get off the tractor! Got some light duty forks ordered for it but on the slow boat I guess. Be nice to stack decks & motors on a pallet and pick the whole thing up. After giving it several workouts @cschannuth she does not like to back up hills with the weights we have on her despite the loaded tires. She has a tendency to dig. All soft sand around her tho and cursed to live on a hill. Forwards not much of a problem. Building a ballast box/chain box for her see out that helps.

2 pointsOne of my neighbors is a hard core car guy. A blown '69 Camaro, supercharged 70's Chevy pickup, owns a car repair shop etc. When I first got my WH, I saw him through the trees looking at me mowing and well, I like to think he was wondering, "What the heck kinda motor does he have in that thing?" It's a lumpy 1 cylinder at idle. heh heh heh
