First time this one's been to the cabin.

I have to share my joy and surprise..we had our last points pull yesterday. The track was a mud pit. After a couple hours of working the track the end result was a “ usable” track. My son ended up getting a first place on his go fast tractor. He had a blast slinging mud!! Lol today we clean.

First time these two have met one another with no implements or attachments.

I have been thinking for some time now to remove the 2 stage and cab on the 91 520-H and decided to do that this morning. Two reasons, first for maintenance and second to give the machine a Winter break and get some of the other 3 seasons a shot at it. Would like to put the 48'' SD mower back on it for mowing and mulching the ridiculous amount of leaves we get here. After removing those items gave it a wash and wax, put the wheel covers back on it and went for a short trail ride. Probably will install those 2 accessories on the 418-A and try out the twin Kohler this Winter.

I never knew these existed until I discovered this in a barn on a property my sister bought. She gave it to me, and I gladly accepted. Cleaned it up a bit, put in new fuel, and it popped right off. I hear they are popular with the Amsih.

Rearranged the ‘s so Mrs Sylvan can get her car in the garage this winter… Put the SL&WHN RR up on the trailer for a long winters nap… Only a wee bit of grease and a shoehorn needed…

Started on one of those "bring them back from the dead" projects. A 48" mower deck that looked like a little love could make it run again. Well lets just say......it needed a lot of love! Had to weld in a partial spindle mount and started on the some cracks. Even the stiffener plate was broken at the spindle. I am sure glad I got my old pile of leftovers. Makes the job at least somewhat cost effective. It does have a slight twist just at the discharge chute. I figure someone it something and bent the area and took out the spindle mounting. The three spindles are fairly close in alignment, and the bend starts just next to the discharge spindle on the outside. It is up at the far end about 3/4", probably would not affect much but was wondering if anyone had any ideas to straighten.

I used Shallowwatersailor's ideal and picked up a Harbor Freight truck crane and built a attachment to fit in my receiver hitch. Today was the first time I used it to move a large cedar post. I had move it over against the fence after the tree fell last spring and had been mowing around it. Worked great got it moved to the back corner.

Six years ago while on a mini vacation in northern Maine checking out an antique store I stumbled upon an 8'' WH wheel cover in very rough condition among a bunch of antique tools. I picked it up and thought it may make a nice ornament to drill a small hole in the center and screw it in the shop overlooking the tractors. For some reason I talked myself out of it. One year later I wondered if it were still in that store and while visiting the area I went back and sure enough it was in the same place where I left it. This morning I decided to remove a small dent with a body hammer and give it a clean up with some Mothers and aluminum foil. I won't be drilling a hole in it and yes it was worth the $ 9.95 I paid for it to save just a tiny bit of WH history.

418-A got a bath today!

After the deer topped off my pepper plants they seem to come back and got a second wind! These raised tote containers have been the easiest thing I have tried. Just right for fresh vegetables and easy to weed. Top off with water once a week. Just need the electric fence up sooner.

The drive belt cover has a 702 decal, but there appears to be no indentation. 701 had no decal or indent. The decal is not in the right location. It's too far to the back. The lower pic is the correct cover

I have been researching Tecumseh SSI, and other ignition systems. I ran across an article, although I am not certain of the author, I believe it might be a guy named Dave Cave from Gas Engine Magazine. Again, I'm not sure, but I did read this, I am sure most of us are guilty of this, while checking compression, or whatever. It's something I was not aware of. The one I have outside the garage

Our latest decent sized project that the horsies get to play on is moving 14 yards of dark gravel from the front of the house to the backyard. Filling in an area so we can access it better and even drive across it. The darker gravel to the left is what we moved today. We still need to move another 20 or 25 garden trailer loads down there. Mostly off to the left, some over between the trees on the right. This wood frog was keeping an eye on us. Likely as a site supervisor. Here's a short video 😁.

The frame is braced too.

Drove my truck and trailer to Richmond, Indiana to pick up a 753 Wheel Horse bought by Rodney Burger Friday. His second 753 picked up in Indiana this last week (and his third 753)! He bought a nice 753. Also drove over to Sunbury, Ohio north of Columbus for a Springfield lawn mower. All and all a nice day.

Most likely burn a hole in the case of the coil to get to the coil mounting bracket or burn a hole in the plug wire. Older products with the shaft-driven magnetos also carried the warning. Wico, Fairbanks Morris and Edison-Splitdorf were common.

Well, here we go again! I picked this up about a year ago, locally, along with a large batch of parts. Didn't know if it ran or not but once I saw everything that came with it , I basically got the tractor for free. It was advertised as a 701, but it has an interesting history: It was sold new as a 1962 model! I have obviously spoken with the person that I bought it from, and then I was able to trace it back to the second owner ( a local Wheel Horse collector and very respected authority on early round hoods) who confirmed that the original owner purchased it with a 702 hood and 702 decals. Unfortunately between owner # 3 and myself it received a horrible repaint that erased the originality that it had. I feel that my only choice at this point is to give an all out, 100% restoration. I will be re-doing both the original 702 hood it was born with and the 701 hood that it has acquired along the way, and also belt guards for both model years. So far I have replaced the non-functioning sediment bowl / fuel shutoff and rebuilt the carburetor, also refinished the air cleaner assy. After doing so, it fired right off and everything works great, telling me that nothing should need a major rebuild and that hopefully we will be in good shape with just new gaskets, seals, and maybe a valve job while the head is off. The serial # is listed here in the registry so I know at least 1 of the previous owners has been on the forum before. Stay tuned! 20210919_143615[1].mp4

Attended a car, truck, & tractor show at a local farm today. It was a small show but it was their first year having a show. Thought that I would share some pictures with you all. We parked my friend Joel's little SimpleCity in front of this Big Bud for a funny size comparison. The DJ "Hobo" built this customized 1946 Dodge to bring some tunes for all to enjoy Besides the show there were many other activities going on, hay rides, corn maze, petting zoo, plenty of things for kids and adults to do. They also had an air cannon for chucking pumpkins, it would easily launch a pumpkin well over 200yrds.

All of his tractors will be on displaly at the fairgrounds for viewing. h Don't make this guy mad. I think he could do some damage with that chainsaw. I thought this was interesting. Don't know why it couldn't be incorporated on any tractor with a little fab work. Adjust your front wheel width as needed. I learned Gravely was bought out by Studebaker in 1960. They are still being made to, as a commercial line I think. If you look long enough at this tractor kind-a looks like a Studebaker Lark, with the azz end cut off. Dual front wheel drive. Rear tires steer. Home made steam engine. Seemed to putter around pretty well. Did I already post these? I don't remember. Oh well worth a 2nd look.

Finished a valve job on the 418-A. It was hard to start since I bought it and finally decided to rip into it. There was no valve clearance and the valves were pretty worn so I just decided to replace them. She starts strong now. Some high and low RPM adjustment and it's ready to work. Also painted the muffler with some high temp black and did a lot of engine cleaning. Pics are before and after leakdown test results.

to Peter - footnote to your SeaFoam suggestion - I discovered Sea Foam last fall - now a big fan - and now i actually add it to my empty gas cans BEFORE i go fill them at gas station

Honda gx690 but a predator 670 will do just the same and those are easier and cheaper. Don’t need any vents on these vtwins they keep them selves very cool.

I have done 100s of repowers on wheel horses the belt guard was just sat there to make sure the exhaust wouldn’t come close to it. I’ve already spent a couple hours making sure the belt didn’t rub anywhere since the pulleys are swapped. I appreciate the concern from everyone but trust me I know lol

I am replacing carb, cleaning breather etc on 520 HC Onan P220G -- So....... I removed the exhaust, the old carb and manifold as well as valve box cover and breather --- see from the photos attached that looking into the valves, there is carbon build up under them. Is there such as thing, or a benefit, to cleaning the carbon off the underneath of valves without removing all the tin, the head, and the valves entirely? Can they, or should they, be cleaned in the position they are in? Thanks - this is new adventure for me!!! Any insights or tips are appreciated?

I do not. Not a fan of bright white Wheel at all! I used almond on my Commando 8 a few years ago. It’s a bit darker but I like it.

or even breaking its frame-to-transaxle connection at the extreme.

FWIW, I'd say it was left open because: a) it doesn't affect the operation of the blower, and b) a graceful closure would have been extra labor and materials and may have created a place where moisture or debris would accumulate.

Both look good will be a tuff choice

Well what I did about my wheel horse today thought about selling my rj59 with snow plow what ya think these are even going for I know markets all over still keeping the 416h and the 1960 sub. Just thinking let someone enjoy the rj59 getting to many tractor other brands too. Looking for a roll over plow for the 60 sub. Once I come up with a price range I'll post in classifieds if I'm selling it

Got this tractor had no decals and the front wheel horse wasn’t painted. Decals from redo your horse. Nice Quality. The thumb screws for the hood had bolts but we were able to get some reproduction thumb screws later on eBay and I have since been put on

It’s been a productive weekend with the old Dixie horse 310-8. Hauled close to 500lbs of gravel and mowed down some old pathways in the woods. Figure it’s about time to start hauling firewood around so might as well clear the trails. these wheel horses continue to do nothing but impress me

308 got some love today..carb dismantled cleaned and reassembled…fuel pump rebuilt with parts from ISAVETRACTORS, And a full test by mowing the yard

Junk cherry trees always falling apart. I made it 7 feet 4 inches before it all came out of the wagon.
