Today was the day the C-120 I bought back in June was finally welcomed as an official member of the family. A little background info is in order. I love my wife dearly, but she doesn't see the need for multiple tractors (or indeed any tractor) on our 1/3 acre property. Early this year, I agreed to request that I don't buy any more tractors. I had my fingers crossed behind my back. I had been using a Trac-Vac for fall leaf cleanup, but after seeing a video of how well a lawn sweeper did the job, I decided to go that route, and started looking for something with a rear discharge deck to pull it. . I located a C-120 in central NJ. As I've done so many times in the past, I waited till my wife left for work at 2:30 pm, then went and picked up my new acquisition. Before she got home, I had it unloaded and stashed in a spot in the yard that she never goes to. After about two weeks, I brought it into the garage in place of a 1973 14 HP (I put the no-name in the yard where the C-120 had been). I had total confidence she wouldn't notice the difference. Eventually, I made room in a shed and stashed the C-120 there until last week. Although my wife acts like she doesn't like tractors, I know that she enjoys driving them, so if I have trailer work to do, I usually ask her to help out behind the wheel. Then a few days ago, the big moment came. I wanted to see how well the rear discharge mower cut, so I asked her to drive it. Success! She never commented on the drive control being in a different place than it is on the no name. So today I took the final step, and brought it into the garage and parked it next to the no name. Now, if she notices it and asks when I got it, I can truthfully say 'a long time ago'. The last picture shows who actually wears the pants in this marriage.

Did some trading with a buddy of mine today. The non running but very nice shape 416h with 42 in RD deck is gone, but i now have this nice rj58. Pretty happy with it.

So here's the new to me 8n I had just posted a quick picture in the huge wheel horse posting spot and kinda was told to remove it so I did so here's the tractor lol. It's just a ford 8n 1951 that was restored I was told by the aaca museum in hersey. A friend bought it kinda used it but the paint they used must not have been great so that's peeling off. But either way it is a great tractor. Of course it doesn't run 6v system needs to be gone through from sitting and they never upgraded the 3 point hitch system so other then that it's great.

Well I'm making some progress. Its the little things that take so long. Cleaning parts and painting and waiting for them to dry is on going We have been blessed with good warm weather but thats changing today. I'm trying to get it wired,new gas lines,carb cleaning and reassemble all the little brackets. Lots of pictures before and after. I don't think I'll get the hood and finder sanded or repainted this year. I cleaned the engine but I'm not going to repaint it now,maybe next year. I'll rebuild the carb because the rubber gaskets are dry rotted. I did have some extra bronze bushings for the throttle shift and its nice and tight now.

No longer have the tractor but this is me and my dad in 1948 on his Farmall.

Here's a strange one.... went to get a C-121 square hood auto running to get it over to the shop for some love. No spark so went thru the diagnostics to figure out a bad coil. Strange part is the old coil + was wired to the points and condenser. Now I know that ain't right! Really strange part is this tractor ran good when I parked it a month or two ago other than a POS plastic fuel pump that I knew was junk. Figured sort out the fuel pump issues and she be good to go. Either gonna sell this one or keep it. Some solid mounts on the shaker and HY lift she might be a beaut. Dan @Achto having his way with my girl!

Tri ribs finally became available again so I installed a set on a restored set of front wheels and installed on the 520-H. Too dark to mow, but I did drive them around a bit and so far like the results.

All, I will be hosting my annual meet and greet at my place on October 23rd starting at 10:00am. It will be in rain or shine with no cancellations. As in years past we will take our 5 mile ride so bring a reliable machine to drive. I will have the grill set up for cooking. So I picked this up month's ago as a parts machine. Decided it was to nice to part out. Picked up a steering wheel and put new tires on the front just to be able to move it around. It sat for a while until @squonk picked up an engine for it at the Big Show. So the engine was swapped out. Wiring rewired. Used the tins on old engine to match the paint. Tranny fluid and filter changed. I didn't paint anything when it was apart because the engine and transmission were untested. Well now it's finished and I'm glad I saved it and didn't part it out. Runs and drives nice and still looks pretty good.

Well getting close to bringing the 875 home. Changed out the rear tires and wheels tonight. Also removed some funky homemade hitch the was in the rear slot hitch. Was hoping to get it home tonight but didn't happen. I work tomorrow and go into the hospital Thursday morning for my biopsy. It will be waiting for me when I get home I guess.

I’ve been kind of busy building a little insulated work shop for winter tinkering. I should be able to heat this little insulated lean-to room with a small electric heater unit fairly easy. It’s R19 insulated, has some plastic as a vapor barrier and enough lighting to see what I’m doing. Unfortunately, my 36” door I installed isn’t quite wide enough for rear ends to get through! For now, I need to pop a few machines apart that are unused or have been set aside for parts. In here now are Chief, Leroy and A C-101 from a local member. I was doubted by Mrs. P when I showed her today that I’m going to pop a few apart. I’m promptly here to get to work! I even have a mini fridge in here!

The primary circuit of the coil is just a pass thru. When the points are closed the power flows from what ever terminal the 12 volt source is connected to through the windings and back out to the points and ground. Magnetic field builds. When the points open the flow stops and the magnetic field collapses and the lines of magnetism cross the secondary windings and induces a high voltage current. The poles being north/south or south/north don't effect anything. Look at this picture. The coil primary is not grounded in the coil body. the primary circuit goes in and goes out. In this example the primary enters and goes down the coil to the bottom and then up and out. In Jim's scenario the primary current will travel down the coil then into the windings and then out changing the polarity of the magnetic field but not the primary or secondary circuits.

My old Oliver 2-44 Industrial backhoe/Loader. It sure can pull with the weight of the backhoe on the rear axle. it essentially is an Oliver 550 with a heavier front axle, power assist steering, and the backhoe/loader

Bob, I completely rebuilt the frame plate with new shaft (12 inch with keyway all thru shaft) , new drive pulley and new bearings. Bob Maynard years ago came up with an alternative to the costly 3/4 bearings used in sickles and snowblowers by buying a bigger 7/8 bearing and adding a brass bushing to make a bearing that would accept a 3/4 shaft. The bearing I used were about five dollars or less compared to bearings costing more than $30 each. I have done this twice now and it works fine. The two set screws in the bearing can have longer set screws placed in them to hold the bearing and bushing with drilled holes on the shaft. Also regarding the 3/4 solid rod in the frame yoke it goes all the way through on the sickle I worked on. I believe it was made this way to adjust to different frame lengths on Wheel Horse tractors. As you know the back yoke portion goes in the frame holes in front of the transmission and the front goes in the hole in the frame plate. Here are a few pics of my frame plate rebuild for a 42 inch sickle. Note: the three hole round bearing plates in picture two only go on outside of plate not inside.

yes it is, but the vent springs are too heavy for our little (well maybe just a non-fuel pumped) engines to drain the tank. By pulling the heavy spring out of the vent, it still holds fuel in but doesn’t hold it back.

Are these just a twist lock 1/4 turn or so? This is what I did for my round hoods and 953s..

I'll stop here in case I have posted these before. I have lots more. All this stuff use to be located about a mile north of town. Some of it, 1 of a kind prototypes.

I just read somewhere that a fun prank to play with people with those listening devices in their houses is to tell it to set an alarm for 3 am with loud or spooky music. Just an idea...

Went bombing around the neighborhood with the Mrs Rules this evening.

This is a work in progress Raider 10 with a 8 hp predator that I set up for an upcoming plow day event in October. I have some 23s on the back in the photo but probably will put the 26s back . I made a lift cable for it tonight and have to check the plow adjustments so hopefully it’s ready. If I don’t put the the 26s on ,I’m thinking of going back to the original front axle as I don’t like the way the front track is wider than the rear.

Yeah I know the frame axles anything painted red is good it's just the 8n tan that's pealing so really not much to paint if I wanted too. But for 800 bucks it's a great tractor buy I thought I have a 1952 ford f1 as well kinda think it's cool to have the tractor and the truck from the same era almost year

I am non denominational and open minded about many different possibilities. In point of fact it is legitimately possible that your messiah could very well have been born in any of the months from March to October. Likely not December. (The timing of availability of the shepherds alone would dictate this.) The main point of celebration of any given holiday is not chronology but theology. I believe it matters not when you celebrate positive energy and a spirit of generosity. It matters that you do. Richie... Light up your palms whenever you like.

Raided next doors plum tree this afternoon. Two big bowls of plums and loads still left on the tree. Maybe get a pie out of some of them. Most will go in the freezer for future pies.

Real simple solution, if it is an eared cap.. Harley Davidson used the same eared fuel cap on their Shovel Head models. The right cap was vented and the left was not on the big twins, make sure you get the vented cap. Tanks on Harleys were gravity fed only so no reason to make any type of adjustment to the cap after you buy it. Readily available from many aftermarket vendors. That little pin that broke is a spirol spring pin - kind of a heavy duty spring pin, since it has two layers of coiled material instead of the one layer found in the spring pins in the hardware store small parts drawers. Toro still sells them as a service part for somewhere between 2 and 3 bucks. Yes, all of the clutch engagement pressure is applied through that pin. That is why it is the two layer version of a spring pin. I needed one this spring, so I ordered it from my local Toro dealer. I later checked McMaster Carr and found that they stock them for a much lower price. While I was working on my PTO clutch, I noticed that the C clip on the stub shaft in the clutch was not seated in the groove in the stub shaft. I pulled the stub shaft out of the clutch, cleaned it and the roller bearing, put some grease on the roller bearing, and re assembled it with a new C clip. I initially thought I needed a new clutch lining, but after replacing the pin and C clip, everything was working as it should. No lining was needed. How thick is your clutch lining? If it is somewhere between 1/16 and 1/8 inch, you should be fine. My clutch is old enough that the lining is attached with rivets. The rivet heads were not worn off, so I figured it was OK. Newer clutches have the lining glued on. They can probably be run until they are thinner. Hopefully, somebody with better computer skills will come along and post a parts diagram for a PTO so we can use part numbers from the same picture. Good luck and have fun.

You get some seat time on that C-121 & she'll stay right where she is. Ole pale face does look good sittin' in my pasture. I Haven't had a chance to look at her much yet but I think a couple of hours time will have her up & running.

Had a full day of exercising, playing Barbies and watching dirt late models on TV with my two nieces who happen to be cousins. Fun times! Oh yeah, trampoline time too!

25 years ago my wife drove like a nut.....We were going to town one day and she was 2 feet off of the bumper of the car in front of us......I told her she needs to move over in the other lane if no one is coming. She was puzzled and ask why. I said we were going to overheat because there was no air going in to the radiator! Drafting like NASCAR! (I drove home) things are much better now.
