6 pointsto the Reel. If I could only have one tractor, It would be my 312 hydro . It has the Eaton 1100 with hydraulic lift. It easily turns a 42" deck and is my go to snow plow tractor. IMO, a hydro lift is a must when operating a snow plow or blower. I have ball hitches on the front and rear and use the front hitch to push trailers into thier parking spots in the barn. The heaviest is a 3KLB boat. Like stated above, stopping a heavy load is a problem. When using the rear hitch, I also keep the trailer tongue jack locked in the down position to take some of the tongue weight and to prevent a back flip of the tractor.

6 pointsYou guys and all these 16hp Kohlers are annoying. They are getting pretty scarce these days, and I don't have one!
-
5 pointsWell getting close to bringing the 875 home. Changed out the rear tires and wheels tonight. Also removed some funky homemade hitch the was in the rear slot hitch. Was hoping to get it home tonight but didn't happen. I work tomorrow and go into the hospital Thursday morning for my biopsy. It will be waiting for me when I get home I guess.

5 pointsThrew some treated 2x4's around my hydrant out to the shop with some stepping stones and gravel. Still a little landscaping to do, but feels good to get something done once in awhile! Randy

4 pointsSo I bought this c160 recently and a c160 has been on my bucket list of tractors for a while. Well it runs but the balance gear sounds like it’s about to come apart. So I’m going to swap this k341 out of a parts tractor into my c160 and then restore it. I will post updates as I go along.

4 pointsTri ribs finally became available again so I installed a set on a restored set of front wheels and installed on the 520-H. Too dark to mow, but I did drive them around a bit and so far like the results.

4 pointsHad a full day of exercising, playing Barbies and watching dirt late models on TV with my two nieces who happen to be cousins. Fun times! Oh yeah, trampoline time too!
-
4 pointsMore progress today. Need to finish this soon, hunting season is around the corner! Engine mounted and new Carlisle AG’s.

4 pointsHello all. I haven't been on the group for quite some time because my wheel horse hasn't had anything new or any trouble occuring. However I recently added a second horse to the garage. It is a raider 10 that has had a command swap and some pretty spectacular duals. I traded it off of my friend for my wrecked simplicity 7790 diesel. He built it about 3 years ago and it sat for 2. All it needed was the battery charge and it even ran on the 2 year old gas. I call it Home-brew because it been made from bits and pieces of various tractors.

3 pointsAfter reading a couple of posts lately about Tecumseh engines using trigger pins, it left me wondering, just what ARE trigger pins, and just WHAT do they do? Are they magnets? Are they something special? No, apparently, they are neither. I still don't know exactly how the system works, but I did find an interesting video. In this video a guy replaces one of the trigger pins with a common 12-20 screw. Is the trigger coil a simple proximity switch? Here is the video for all the Tecumseh fans, (both of you). For me it raises more questions than it answers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMvB0-DIFEo

3 pointsHere's a strange one.... went to get a C-121 square hood auto running to get it over to the shop for some love. No spark so went thru the diagnostics to figure out a bad coil. Strange part is the old coil + was wired to the points and condenser. Now I know that ain't right! Really strange part is this tractor ran good when I parked it a month or two ago other than a POS plastic fuel pump that I knew was junk. Figured sort out the fuel pump issues and she be good to go. Either gonna sell this one or keep it. Some solid mounts on the shaker and HY lift she might be a beaut. Dan @Achto having his way with my girl!

3 pointsI just read somewhere that a fun prank to play with people with those listening devices in their houses is to tell it to set an alarm for 3 am with loud or spooky music. Just an idea...
-
3 pointsI always let my tractors idle for a few min. before shutting down to let them cool down a bit. As said above may be running a little lean also.

3 pointsWell, my initial plan on mounting this and opening my paths up and then look into a refirb went up in smoke. Too many things rusted tight. Time to tear things apart and get the E-tank going. First up, the frame. Besides cosmetic issues the bracket on the back is locked up tight. It has to pivot. How far does it extend into the tube? I had to cut the bolts on the pulley side and one of them is behind the pulley making removal of the a necessity now. Of course it giving me fits. Right now it's getting intimate with some PB Blaster. After cooking a couple days it cleaned up quite nicely. As expected it didn't free up the mounting yoke. I'm hoping I can find the leverage to make it start turning so I can work it out. Another question. According to the diagram it looks like the lift arm should simply slide off after the frame is removed but it's not wanting to budge. Is this the case? I don't want to get violent with it if there's a possibility of something else holding it. Next E-tank victim is the pulley assembly. We've got some running to do so I'm going to wait a couple days. I don't want to leave the tank running when I'm gone. I'm afraid this guy is going to give me fits. The shaft will spin but it sounds bone dry. Don't hesitate to throw any advice at me. It's all appreciated.

3 pointsAnd don't count out the xi series, good hydro, 2 speed cast transmission, heavy machine, shaft driven and they can be had very inexpensively.
-
3 pointsYou'd have to call every tractor I have Home-brew if going by that rule! I think of them like mutts. They may not always be the best looking, but they are the best kind to have!

3 pointsMowing lawns and pushing snow, hydro is the best, not having to do so much shifting. Ground engagement the gearing is better.
-
3 pointsGot the 8 Horsie all together. Just waiting for the tin to come back from the sand blaster.
-
2 pointsIf your name is in RED, you can get in on this. I have received so much from this forum in the form of knowledge, help, bought/traded parts and most importantly…… friendships, even though we are miles apart. So I don’t mind giving back in some small way. I have this little hobby making cups. While they aren’t perfect by no means, they turn out ok. Here is one that was an experiment that I decided to giveaway. A little 12oz tumbler. So post “in” if you’re a supporter and your name goes on the list. I’ll do a drawing on October 1st. May be a second cup added… who knows. (Sorry guys but USA shipping only) SECOND ONE ADDED. This is a 12 oz drink cooler. Has a touch of overspray that gives it character.

2 pointsAwesome! Please do us a favor and continue the build pictures in one thread. It would be easier in the long run

2 pointsSet your timing with a timing light. Also consider rebuilding the carb and check the height setting of the float when you do. Once you've done those things, run several cans of Seafoam thru it to help clean out any carbon deposits in the cylinders.
-
2 pointsThat’s a new one. Power king and Jim dandy I know but have never heard of a country squire unless it was a station wagon.

2 pointsYou have a 1964 Model 1054 that has seen a few modifications in the past. We have a section on Red Square dedicated to pullers, you can probably get a lot of good information there. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/48-pullers/

2 pointsThat being said, with enough tinkering, you can put a Lawn Boy snow blower (or 2) Wheel Horse.

2 pointsThey are neat old tractors. Built by the same company that made the Economy Power King tractors. L & G magazine did a series about them recently. It probable had a Briggs engine. Transmission is a T92 Crosly used in a lot of things. Very stout differential and bull gears.

2 pointsYeah that's probably a big part of the problem. Nothing looks out of place to me on how the points are setup, so I wonder if one of the wires running up behind the coil might have a tiny hole in the covering that's causing it to bleed part of the spark to the case. Ran into something like that years ago on one of my Farmalls. The plug wires on that ran through a long tube around the engine and when cranking it there'd be weak erratic spark at the plugs. Finally found that when it bit me when I had someone else crank it and I had my hand on the tube trying to adjust the mag. It was sparking out of the tube to the block

2 pointsThanks Richie, I will stay on sideline since I won last time. Really enjoy my cups, use then everyday. Thanks for doing this. Ron

2 points25 years ago my wife drove like a nut.....We were going to town one day and she was 2 feet off of the bumper of the car in front of us......I told her she needs to move over in the other lane if no one is coming. She was puzzled and ask why. I said we were going to overheat because there was no air going in to the radiator! Drafting like NASCAR! (I drove home) things are much better now.
-
2 pointsWelcome back! You don’t have to need a fix or have a problem to visit though you know…. Nice dually, and I like the name too! Here’s it’s younger dually cousin, The WHRat WHRecker. It had a Predator swap and frequently parades my nieces around.

2 pointsWished I could say that 'Fish. cup heavy here to say the least. Can't open the dang cupboard door without starting an avalanche. I got rid of few way in the back to make room for Richies. She'll never even notice them gone!
-
2 pointsI built my receiver hitch. Those are a handy thing. When using one of those receiver hitches, you need to exercise a little care. The towing load of the trailer is applied above the center line of the axle, which will tend to pull the front wheels off of the ground. The driving torque being applied by the rear wheels also tries to lift the front tires. If your trailer does not want to move, the tractor will easily pull a wheelie. Not a problem if you are expecting this, and can clutch before you get into trouble. Also, if the tractor is headed up hill, it takes less force to pull it over backwards.
-
2 pointsI had my wife going with that one... I asked her the question and she thought about it for about 30 seconds... she had that "WTH is wrong with you" look on her face and then realized I was pulling her leg. Funny!
