7 pointsOne step closer to finishing the outdoor kitchen! The pex to hose adapter was leaking last night, or the ice maker would be in too. today, fix the leak and finish the two small ends.

6 pointsWhat's in my mirror did not really concern me too much. It's what ended up in my face that was a bit of a concern. Went to a local drive through zoo today. You are allowed to feed the animals through the window of your vehical, some of the critters don't have the patients to wait for you to get the food out side of the window.

5 pointsI was actually able to remove not 1, not 2, but 3 roll pins in one day. Not only that.......I was able to reuse one of them needed on another tractor! After nearly destroying a tractor trying to get my first steering wheel off, i was not looking forward to this today. It all worked out tho. Skinny Minnow said i should go buy some lottery tickets today i thought about going after #4, the steering wheel, but thought not gonna push my luck and keep soaking it for a while and end the day on a good note. i dont know what whoever was thinking that invented those ....... things!

4 pointsWorked on the 60 inch deck off of the 522xi. Anti scalp wheels shot and shaft worn out. It is amazing how that plastic wheel wears the metal shaft. I used an aftermarket wheel that came with a sleeve from 3/8 to 5/8". I eliminated the sleeve and used 5/8 grade 5 bolts for new shafts. Thinking maybe that deck is just to heavy for the 3/8" bolt. Hoisted her to remove wheels. Cut down along the vertical shaft. Then cut down along angle support. Grind off the excess remaining weld and knocked out the worn stub. Took a 5/8" x 6 bolt, cut to length, jiged it up, squard and welded. A little paint installed a new wheel and voila! Good as new! Last another 25 years.

4 pointsSimplest way in my mind is this: All Eatons have a cam on top. Sundstrands do not. And no- Eatons do not have a tow valve. Anything on a bigger C series should have the 1100 (with hydraulic lift), which should freewheel. Just don't ever tow it. You can push it by hand, but no faster.

4 pointsI mowed with the 414-8 then aired it off clean. After a bit of thought I started to do the deck treatment @peter lena does. I was going to do the deck, service and store it. From there my plan is to clean the tractor and service it then outfit it for winter after making some quick repairs. I hadn’t cleaned the deck since the start of the season other than blowing off the build up I could see through the chute or rust holes. It was a whopping mess. Several hours later and a cleaning with some kerosine I have to still finish the underside of the deck. From there I’ll need to do some repairs. I noticed a few issues with the deck. Missing bolts, loose bolts, and a bent rod and a heavily worn belt. After I cleaned the outside with kerosine I noticed it was cracked where the rear mounting hardware is bolted to the deck pan. I still have to do the oil treatment to the paint. For now though I’m calling it a day.

3 pointsFound this 867 for sale an hour from home. Original owner, came with paperwork and a bucket of spare parts, old belts etc. Also new in a canvas bag were tire chains bought for it but never installed. On the ad I could see it was original paint, but when I arrived the elderly gentleman thought he had done me and the tractor a huge favor and shot the top of the hood and fender pan with rattle can red . The new paint is only a week or two old and wasn’t painted onto the decals. I’ll be looking for thoughts on getting it off if you have any. Obligatory pics…

3 pointsDon't rush the process, a little penetrant twice a day for several days will help. Center punch, small drill at center, progressively larger bits up to 3/16" (or when you reach threads), use an awl or some sort of pick to gently move the threaded remains away from the engine, heat generated by drill may be helpful in breaking the dissimilar metal fusion.

3 pointsI think nearly all repowers are like this. The electrical alone on the 500 series tractors is enough to need psychotherapy afterward. Very few newer engines use 1.125 PTOs. As you already said, most also require some mounting fabrication. If all that goes well, then the hood won't fit. Most folks cut the hood, but I prefer not to. I've had to modify air intakes and mufflers, but prefer to keep the tractor unmolested. Don't give up on it. Sometimes you just have to walk away and sleep on it. You might be surprised what you come up with.

3 pointsMy very own 1990’s commercial!😂 more loam spreading and because of the hills I’ll be using the 520 with dump cart too move the loam to the back of my property. I never realized just how tippy a loader like this can be on uneven ground! So twice the horsing around!

3 pointsLooks pretty nice Mike. Clean for it`s age. The left hub has to adjusted maybe with a new seal. I like the looks of those old start gens. Enjoy it.

3 pointsAlso a sunstrand transmission has the filter on the right side. The Eaton 1100 has the filter pointing out the back. The C165 would have a single cylinder Kohler engine and the C175 would have a 2 cylinder Kohler engine

3 pointsI tinkered with the C-195 today. Letting the gas tank soak with vinegar, agitating the nuts and bolts inside. Made a test run on the engine through the new fuel pump temporarily drawing fuel from a 5 gallon gas can sitting next to the tractor. All appears to be OK.. After I get the tank cleaned, the seat and access panels back on the tractor, it will be ready for a test drive.

2 pointsI put this on the end of a different thread but then realized it was ended in 2014 (I'm new here forgive me for duplicate) I just got this 701 and I ordered a dash fro Glen Petit (perfect) I think the choke, ammeter, key and starter are fairly correct but throttle cable is obviously wrong. Can someone point me to a place to purchase the correct one? Was it a locking cable? Thanks, Ron

2 pointsTHANK YOU! This is very helpful. Might be a next weekend project for me but in the meantime I will look for the gaskets to replace them when I take this apart and study the manual. Appreciate the encouraging words regarding the Onan, I was concerned I might have made a mistake reading some of the other feeds on them. The previous owner garage kept the tractor but it had not really been used much in the past three years. It is hard to find a well maintained wheel horse and I snatched it up as I was looking for something with a bit more power then the 314 that I have. Hope that cleaning the carb does the trick and it will run smooth again. Thanks again for all the help and I will check back in as I have additional questions and move forward.

2 pointsA few pics from my Aunt… the customer. the precast installed… starting the block install after the granite company laid the countertop… Near completion yesterday, after setting the grill signing the last block “FJ Platte Services, ‘21”. That is my grandpa’s name, her dad. We were a bit choked up for that picture! When I roughed in the power, water and gas from the house, that job is what landed me Poppy’s new shoes.

2 pointsIT RUNS!!!! Replaced the retainer pin...it looked a little bowed. Cleaned out the carbon, put it all back together, and IT STARTED RIGHT UP!!! Now to get it all tuned and I'll be plowing!! Thanks for all your wisdom!

2 points@WheelPuke , you should flush it out , its easy and only takes 2 qts of 80-90 to refill it , drain plug on the bottom corner of trans , its an allen plug screw in , probably dirt filled , dig it out . lift the front end to increase the drainage , new shift boot . don,t make me come over there and show you how to do it , thats a joke , pete

2 pointsBeen helping lay out the plots for a ploughing match we're holding next Sunday. We've been unable to hold it at our usual venue and it's taken some time to find another one. We're hoping for at least 40 entries to break even. Usually have around 60. Won't be entering myself, as with the long dry spell the ground is quite hard. My plough would just about scratch the surface.

2 pointsDuring the preliminary under side cleaning I found two loose bolts on a spindle. I’m hoping that’s not an indication of a bearing failure. I’ve got the chassis grease at the ready, I’ll have to pick up a case of the chain and cable lube, other oil, and spindle grease. Otherwise I was going to try a penetrating oil if I can’t find the specific oils you are using. I defiantly need to get the transmission guild and boot changed and paint treated with some oil before this machine hits the snow. I’ve got some neglect to catch up on this deck too. I’m guilty of adding some myself in the years it’s been mine out of ignorance.

2 pointsI had to shorten the lift rod by an inch. It was hitting the center spindle nut. The cross rod was rotted where it connects to the frame, so I cut the old one out, shortened the bar an inch and welded in a new cross rod. I've seen that other people have problems with the grease fitting on the OEM decks hitting that rod, perhaps that would be a good way to fix the problem.

2 pointsI would keep spraying them and let them soak for a day or so, then use a punch if possible for a starting point to drill them out. That is a plate on the motor that could be replaced if things go south. Use a propane torch and put some heat on the aluminum, then spray will help too. Randy

2 pointsStarted working on the mounting plate tonight. Still waiting on an intake part to be delivered, so I'm at a stopping point with the engine build. I welded some 1 x 2 channel together, because a friend of mine has a 520-H with the repower kit, and his mount allows for routing cables or fuel line under the engine, which I thought would be nice. Test fitting the engine looks great so far. Only issue is the muffler. Definitely gonna need some extensions made up. I don't want it that close to the hood. Anyway, one step forward and two steps back...

2 pointsWelded a piece of steel on the bottom of the plow blade (it was all worn down by the p.o. finally now getting around to fixing it up!) and installed a piece of 3/4" rubber from "RubberCal" so I don't tear up my new asphalt. I didn't paint the whole front of it, Just the part that was 'scarred' by the repair work. That piece of steel on the bottom is 1/8" thick. The p.o. kept using it after the wear edge was ground to nothing, and kept using it until the blade itself was worn to the bolt holes. I also started disassembling the old snow thrower that was donated generously by Dennis @DCwom in preparation for hopefully using this winter. It's got a few 'battle wounds' but nothing a little welding, hammering, and Regal Red won't cure. Putting together a shopping list of parts I need.

2 pointsFixed the broken zipper on my 20 year old Eureka tent. Called the company, explained the issue, they sent me several zipper sliders in the mail for free with excellent instructions. Bippity bip… Can’t say enough about their customer service… great company with excellent products and service.
