14 pointsWell I said I would finish it up and try it on today ..... well here it is. My Big Block, Short Frame, Tall Stack,, Custom Decals, Baby Moon, Mowing Machine. I kinda like how it turned out.

11 pointsThought i'd just barge in here out of nowhere and say hi Been awhile folks, but I'm still kickin! Its been one crazy summer for sure, and due to the cost of materials, not much getting done at the ol A frame. Lawn duty 1277 continues to keep track of the grass, Hoss has been dragging things all over and playing a bit, and ol smoky the 701 is running great- a stiff fuel pump diaphragm was causing the dying and shes good to go now, at least til I have the time to do a nice restore. Had em all out last week and snapped a pic.

8 pointsI've been on quite a roll this year, I think I've bought 15 or so since February. I was doing pretty good (got down to around 12 or so) but then my addiction kicked in again and I went on a bender. Anyway, picked up these two guys tonight. The 704 is pretty self explanatory, but I've never had a lawn ranger (L 156) before. The Tecumseh is a little foreign to me, any special tricks or should I be able to use my wisdom from Kohlers and Onan's to get her going (hopefully) Thanks in advance Tyson
-
6 pointsWhatever you and the seller agree upon! I picked one up for 30 that came off a Simplecity and has the opposite rotation for a horse but figured to run it off the flywheel side ala @Achto Raider 12 plow mule. His was a Century - Fox but same cup o tea. Thread here https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/73707-68-raider-12-resto/ Guessing the ones a bit more $ ....if you can find one. Getting to be quite rare. Don't pass on other brands ... a lot of them used it. You can run any of the 1 1/2" cylinders off it but would not be suitable for say a loader. @wheelhorseman and @Lane Ranger are Hein pros.

6 pointsOver the few years I've been hanging out here with you folks Trina and I have been gifted quite a few things. The latest is a hat sent to her by @D_Mac Don. He saw this and decided it belonged with Trina's Military Tribute Tractor. To all the wonderful people here on Redsquare: Thank you for the help and fine things you've sent us. A Bear and a BBT.

6 pointsto all of the members that helped me with the issue that I had as far as the blades hitting as they turned ;with the issues of my wife and her heath which we were told that she is at the 3rd stage of kidney failure we are trying to cope with it 'but during that time yes I had issues with the blade hitting as they were not adjusted correctly 'but during a search and having the blades sharpened I did find out that the blades were put on wrong as one blade goes counter cock wise where the other goes clock wise ;the thing is that I always thought that even a 2 blade or 3 turn the same but yes I was fooled so now mowing the blades cut as they should and they do not hit as they turn; so again I want to thank every one that took the time to help me ;

4 pointsTrina and I spent some time working on the Military Tribute Tractor "Millie" this evening. I cleaned up the breather in 'n out. She painted it and also the front of the engine where the oil was dribbling and messed the paint all up. I took a bit of time to clean out / clean up the carburetor. Starting with a good hand wire brushing. Followed by a VERY careful touching on the 6" bench grinder with a gentle steel brush. Then lay a piece of new 320 grit paper on the flat of the workbench. Swipe swipe spin. Repeat repeat repeat etc. Nice clean straight gasket mount surface. Clean and wire brush the bowl. Wire brush the small parts the get reused. Here's a comparison for before and after. The main needle gets the same treatment with the 6" wire brush. I found it odd that the end hole isn't round... Here you can see where the main needle sticks up through into the carburetor bore. All polished and reassembled!

4 pointsBeen awhile fellas, its been a crazy summer at work and play. Update: I ran the Top Tractor Challenge- it was insane! Some real gnarly obstacles this year. 12 competitors, 6 courses. I threw a belt on the first course and took a DNF. After course #2 the starter got packed with slop and it wouldnt fire for course 3, another DNF. I took that time to clean the starter and adjust the belt guide and both worked the rest of the day. Course 4 I completely missed an obstacle and got DQ'd. The last 3 courses the B-1 and I were dialed in and did very well, netting me an 8th overall, even with 3 incomplete scores! Aside from the initial belt issue and a muddy starter, the B-1 was flawless, and I wrung it out for all it had- certainly much harder than I ever do on trail cruises. Again, a testament to just how well these Horses were built! I cannot post videos or finishing placement until our host compiles them into one, but I can tell you a Wheel Horse won the competition, by a long shot! Yep, some frown on doing this to an original WH, but it is providing a ton of fun instead of sitting in a field rusting away......
-
3 pointsCountless great guitar players out there but very few that the instruments seem to be part of their bodies from the effortless, seamless playing, which creates a tone that can immediately unmistakably be identified as theirs only. Probably only a handful have ever existed that such can be said about. Stevie is definitely on that exclusive list. A joy to listen to and if one was lucky, a sight to see and and be hypnotized by. I was lucky to have had that privilege.

3 pointsI haven’t made a whole lot of progress lately on my WH. Today I decided to get to the bottom of the parking brake light issue I had on my 414-8. It was constantly on even with the parking brake disengaged. Engagement of the parking brake did not change the status of the dash light. Upon testing the switch’s function by using a screw driver to push the switch lever the switch would actuate and the light would indicate parking brake “off”. The switch lever looked bent even while looking through the shifter dash. I removed the switch from the tractor and noticed the lever was indeed bent. With careful and an even steady force I bent the switch lever back and even biased it toward the parking brake lever slightly. Returning all to its assembled position after testing the switch’s “repair” the parking brake light indicates as it should now along with all the other dash lights. Then I cleaned the WH 414-8 and the JD LX176 off from their last mow with compressed air. Yesterday I acquired a blade, bracket, tire, chains, rear wheel weights, and a cab for the 414-8 from a fellow member. He is a wealth of knowledge and was beyond helpful in educating me on Wheel Horse. As a result of what he taught me I came to find my tractor was a 1989 not a 1988 as I once thought. Next I’ll be making a shopping list of WH parts to finish off the remaining issues with the 414-8. A slow WH day here.

3 pointsBought the old power washer out of mothballs. I had bought this quite a few years ago at home cheapo and had problems with the pump on it right out of the box. Took it back in exchange for a different one and a year later out of warranty ... yep pump problems. Generac basically told me to stuff it.... go figure eh @Achto !!! Turns out the unloader design was not quite right so s canned the pump and put the rest in storage. Finally bit the bullet & ordered a new pump for it and it was plug & play! New pump really hauls the mail and makes the Briggs grunt. The Briggs is a good one or so I've been told so an oil change, fuel lines & filter & some seafoam later she fired right up like she didn't sit for 15+ years!
-
3 pointsThe engine itself really doesn't care what the gap is as long as the plug is correct and has the proper heat range. Now the ignition coil cares a lot. Wider gap, more stress on the coil

3 pointsIn this case I do. I mentioned before that I didn't get good results on my cancer check up couple weeks ago. Turns out it's back again. This time on one of my kidneys. I am still trying to get back on my feet from my long battle 2 years ago. This will be my 3rd go round with it. I'm selling off a few in order to generate some cash. I keep telling myself I will find more. You know I always do. Last time I sold all I had. Here I am year later with all new ones. I'm excited to see what new ones I will have a year from now when I kick cancers ass AGAIN !!!
-
3 pointsNow it’s was long time to replace belts and blades. Of course in the time I waited for the belt Order to get here it rained twice and grass was now deeper than normal. So those new blades got a work out
-
3 pointsThe M16 is home! I have changed the oil and there is no water in there! No begin un tinning the motor!

3 pointsGave my deck to my cousin a while back to have it patched. Needed a large patch welded on the front. Seems they all rot out in that very same spot as I have 3 decks all with holes in the same place. I tested a little red paint on it but decided to paint it black and silver to match the custom decals @Vinylguymade up for me. Tomorrow I will put the deck decals on and try it out on the 1075.

2 pointsI put an in line marine bubble and it works like a charm… couple squeezes and she fires right up…
-
2 pointsThose words should be carved in stone, I couldn’t agree more Lane. Thanks again, great info!

2 pointsHot water, dawn dish liquid, good rinse, blow dry and let r set in the sun. A quick spray rinse of carb cleaner and put r together. (and if you use the dawn, the 1/4-28 nuts work better)
-
2 pointsWelcome aboard . All above is correct. I always liked them better without fenders or tool box with ags. Gives them an even "older look". Still has the often missing original belt guard.
-
2 pointsI'd like to have a 1 acre building for all the things I want to work on. We do have to play shuffle shuffle rearrange a fair bit but we do ok.
-
2 pointsMine too. Nice that these AR (Annovi Reverbri) pumps' oil access is so straightforward. Funny thing about these PWs, too. Once you have one running, EVERYTHING starts to look a little dingy and in need of a wash . I continue to long for a temperature-controlled workspace to enjoy working on my tractor projects. Heated storage is just dreaming!
-
2 pointsyes it's amazing Jim but the replacement pumps for those are often made much better than the originals. I had to replace one on a Washer with a Honda six months after buying! And it did not freeze like some get damaged!
-
2 pointsJust make sure your blood alcohol content is under the legal limit and you’ll be fine👍
-
2 pointsSplit the group into 2. Group 1 - Absolutely will not sell. Group 2 - those you can live without, if there are any! Since you have 2 garages: Place Group 1 into Garage A and Group 2 into Garage B. Start posting Group 2 for sale and don't ever show anybody or tell them about Garage A.
-
2 pointsWow even did a nice job of landscaping it! Not like Tim to do a nice job ...musta had help from junior....

2 pointsI moved the throttle, and a smidge. At first, I moved the throttle and “no, there was no play”, and the I began to feel just the slightest bit.
-
2 pointsHere is an assortment of threads that should be helpful, you could also search HY-2. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=HY-3&quick=1 When I built the three point hitch for my 953 I used a cylinder from a 418, same as the 520 uses.
-
2 pointsYou may have some luck of the draw but I think it's more to the point that you took the initiative to set the engine timing correctly and accurately.
-
2 points@Achto may be able to comment on that. I think the cost of the materials alone is well in excess of $100. I've tried to get a rough idea of cost in my area in the past and I don't think I could walk in the door for less than $400 to $500 at a paint shop. If I could get the powder coating done for $250 I'd seriously consider it.
-
2 pointsHave no fear. I'll not be taking any chances. I'll be testing it before installation. (Install BFH smillie here)
-
2 pointsHere's a pipe dream then Mike... a hydro with a front ball that you can lift right up into the hitch. For short moves like that never even have to get off the tractor. Drive up to the boat, lift her up drive out.... sweep the stall ...drive her back in...... Just thinkin out loud here.... work smart not hard! Just wished I was as bright as my ideas tho!

2 pointsA very busy Wheel Horse day today. Started working on reassembly of Rodney Burgers 42 inch sickle bar. I was waiting for a cooler day to work on this snd today was the day. Rodney is coming up to Indiana and Ohio next week. I wanted to clean up the garage so started moving tractors outside. I was surprised to see no gas in 701, 702 or 854. I put my last gallon of gas in two RJs and moved them out. Moved the B-80 which started right up like normal. went to get seven gallons of gas. Filled up 70-, 702 and 854. Moved 701 snd 702 out front. Came back to 854 and woah a leaking two piece gas tank. I had trouble with this one in January. This tank was redone with new gadget by the previous owner. I took off steering wheel snd four bolts holding the gas tank in the tower and relighted all the bolts with my impact drill. I put in gas and it held -however I have a one piece tank and I am going to redo this as I just don't trust this tank. The oppressive 90 degree heat this summer had to do something to the evaporation of the gas and the loosening of the gas tank sealer on the 854. We had three weeks of high temps. I also changed out an old pair of B F Goodrich Power Grip tires on my 854 and put my new old stock set of Firestone Town and County tires I picked up at the Big Show in Gettysburg this year. This gave me an opportunity to sell them to a new RJ58 owner (HorsePower58 that lives 20 miles away in Mooreville) that needed a set. I cleaned snd painted the 702 gas tank and called a friend to see if he could help me find a 703 dash to put on my 701 tank on my 854 tractor! Glory be he had one! So all in all a good horsin around day!
