This was the first year for this show from https://www.facebook.com/pixkett/ Now sure how it was gonna turn out being the first year but Dan @Achto was loaded for bear and I only had three tractors there. Small turnout from a spectator standpoint but a good number of GT's there. A few of what I got sure Dan has got more. CC was the feature. Our line up.... Dan's got way better pics.... check out his new to him canopy that we took down BEFORE the storm Tom @Shynon Thing is real heavy but real easy to set up. Cindy liked it so pulled the trigger on one ...Thanks alot Dan! Same club is mixed up with a puller club ( they have a nice track there) so some pullers.

Jim pretty much covered the high lights. This first picture was taken Sun. morning when I stepped out the door of my camper. Later on I asked one of the club members if we had to pay extra to camp lake side. Our friend Mara getting a "Best Restored" award with her Simplicity 727. Not too often that I have my whole heard out together so I figured I best get a family pic.

We got there Friday around three and had just got set up when we got some rain which created some ponds but dried up somewhat quickly so nice day on Saturday. Hot and humid tho. Saturday nite just when we was starting to feel no pain the real storms set in. Blew so hard it pushed in Dan's bump out in in his pop up. Next day we woke to this! We had a fire pit.... for some reason it went out ! The pool got filled again and Dan suggested boat races! Note the Makita jack drill floating away! Never got wet inside tho! That was actually about five inches of water around the campers! Night crawlers popped to the surface by the thousands. We sloshed thru it and carried on tho. Nice thing we didn't have to pull campers out as they are staying there for another show in two weeks

@Mike Van Eman Welcome to Red Square and congratulations on the beautiful tractor. As you already been told you have something special there. Special because of what it is , but in reality special because of who it belonged to and the story behind it . That is what makes it really special and something that cannot be bought. Incredibly it also has the implements used with it through its life. It just gets better and better. I can see also that you have come across the usual humor that goes with being associated with this site. I see that it will not discourage you and it should not. You could not have come across a greater group of people if you tried. You will find it even more with time what a group of well meaning, kind and seasoned individuals they are. The talent and knowledge present here specially when it comes to the subject but not limited to, is invaluable. You will also come to realize that essentially that is what these tractors do to people. Bring them together based on one single interest that quickly multiplies into many but more importantly into actual friendships and admiration even though many of us never met and are quite far from each other. Welcome to the family.

Now I could be wrong but it seemed like the guy who was running the show (Jeff the guy in the red & white shirts shaking hands) was doing it more for the exhibitors than spectators. We all got door prizes for showing and the guy had trophies to hand out both Sat. and Sun. Cindy got best Rat Rod on Sat??? The flame a rat rod? We suggested customs and other categories for next year. I guess it's the thought that counts. Dan got best Rat Rod on Sunday of course! Our Bro Simplecity Joel's Wife Mara got best resto on Sunday. Funny enough Dan did the paint on both her's and the flame! Now you know why we keep him around for other than his cooking! They also had categories for best original & best display.

There was a lot of talk about Automatic Compression Release and Automatic spark advance camshafts in my makes no sense thread. With both styles of cams on my bench, here's a quick rundown on how they work: Early engines used Auto Spark Advance. Utilizing a 2 piece cam. The lobe for the points was separate and engaged two spring retracted weights. At low RPM (starting) The weights were held by springs and positioned the lobe in a spark retarded position. As the engine sped up. The weights were forced out by centrifugal force and the dogs on the weights moved the points lobe to an advanced position. With the ACR cam on later engines, at rest and below 600 RPM the cam has a raised arm that the tappet rides on holding the exhaust valve open. Finger is pointing to raised arm. In this picture my finger is pointing to the tab on the weight keeping the arm raised. Valve will be held open about this amount. In the next picture, I am holding the weight out simulating RPM over 600. You can see the tab as moved away from the raised arm. In the final pic the weight is out of the way of the raised arm and the arm is now allowed to drop from the pressure of the exhaust valve spring and tappet. The tappet now rides on the main exhaust lobe.

Hello, finally made use of a fuel pump plate & nipple of an old K241. Grew tired of the old diaphragm going bad , leaking fuel into the sump, draining the oil, etc. Then after rebuilding several only to have them fail some other way, time to change it out! Just removed the Shroud bolt aside the Choke/Throttle Linkage and fit just nice & tight. The bracket was too simple! A straight piece of slotted steel to accommodate 1/4-20 Carriage Bolts. I harvested the Pulse Pump off a Briggs Intek 17hp, however, many manufactures use these, as does Kohler. A piece of hose protector around the line as it circled under the bracket back to the vacuum nipple. The pre-formed double 90 rubber fuel line and protector loom came with a Briggs Carburetor Kit for my Ariens Snow Thrower No more stalling going into full throttle. No more hard starts. The new Carburetor from I Save Tractors, still in the box....

I’ve been waiting for this…. For about a year! For $175!! It’s got 4 inflated tires… bonus!! A M10 and a unripped seat and a muffler with NO holes and wheel weights!! With smaller tires (I think) and 1” axles. It’s got water in the gas tank… the gas cap with the gauge is missing the clear peice. The wheel weights alone would cost $150 easy!😀 the pics are probably upside down, you’ll just have to stand on your head.😀

Engine has been run 2 hrs. on the stand. Ready to put on the shelf. Going to rebuild a Genuine Kohler carb. This China one is almost as bad as a Genuine Tecky carb! So to recap. Engine wouldn't run when I got it because of the points lobe being 180 degrees off. Repairs as follows: 2 piece cam replace with one piece cam Cracked main bearing boss welded Broken governor shaft replaced Seized governor gear replaced Valves and seats ground Connecting rod turned around so oil hole is on the correct side.

Thanks for the boys . ‘’seems like I haven’t had “normal” storm yet this year . All come through with 50/60mph winds with inches of rain coming in sideways and can’t see more then 20’ out the window . Yesterday we had one of those double whammies come through . Wife got some pictures between storms but she had to be quick with these tiger mosquitoes big as birds sucking the life out of you . Can’t keep up with the lawn or bug control .

Got it apart this morning. Used some Stanley blades to break the seal. Then a couple of screwdrivers to open it up a bit more then two large chisels. Here's what I found. Only welded on one side and the weld hadn't taken hold. Only on were you can see the missing piece. If I can't get one from the Toro dealer I may get a mate to weld it up.

Man, that's cool. Welcome to the forum, and a great first post. Be sure to give that ol' girl the love and attention it deserves. Hope it's something simple. As others stated, it probably wouldn't hurt to check / change all the fluids in there as well. But the fact that it isn't seized in place is a good sign. Side note, here's a pic of my grandfathers tractor (sitting in my shed currently). The memories and sentimental value attached to this thing is incredible.

Don't take too much of what I say seriously. I realize you would never part with that tractor, and I don't blame you, I wouldn't either. Some day, the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, a Senior, or Lever steer will come my way. I probably won't be able to afford it, but I'll buy it anyway. Then my wife will shoot me, and it will be for sale again. The circle continues.

They never stop running. Sometimes they just take a break...

My 310-8 was my first tractor 25 years ago. Still the most dependable hardest working machine I have. Mine is a 1987 (looks like yours is 87 or newer), and still runs strong! Of course I dressed it up a little...

I seen this at a local show a few weeks ago. The owner did a very nice job on it. He was driving it around and it was impressive.

Mine is very similar, a couple of horses crammed into a small shed-sized building. it’s where I’ve spent most of my summer!

Maybe it's the small exhaust valve, but there is something about the 10hp Kohlers. They run so quiet for a big block, and the hp rating just doesn't do them justice. I've tilled hard red clay with mine- and it soldiered through it like a Balboa flick (I could hear the music), and even slung a 48 inch deck under it in an emergency. It complained a little with the 48, but it pushed on through! My neighbor had one of those big box 20+ hp riding mowers, and he was always jealous of my 310-8. He referred to it as "a MOWchine" regularly. I would always tell him not to feel bad, because lots of us had ride on toys when we were kids too! At least he didn't have to pedal it...

I do believe that fenders and tool box were an option. (could be wrong on that) Original rear tires would be 6-12's, rims for this size tire will fit from many other brands of tractors that used this tire size. This is true!! We left our campers there as we are returning to this grounds in 2 weeks for their regular tractor show. If the weather man predicts rain we will have to move for sure.

The fork itself is/was slightly bent. If I do get it welded I won't be doing it. Mig would be the best way and I don't posses one. I now have the part number thanks to Squonk, so off to Carlisle in the morning and hope I'll be lucky. Rest of the box is clean and in good condition.

Great pics and looks like it will be the start of a great show! A good variety of garden tractors. At least you and Dan learned where not to park and set up camp next time!

Yup. Better than the soul than chewing on a grudge… playing in mud! Well not the best for a back, but good for the soul I imagine!

I admire several fellow members' advice to find your own way to let this pass, especially as we all know how hard that can be. Few things seem quite so satisfying as chewing on a good grudge, right? This Calvin and Hobbes strip has stuck with me (and saved me on occasion!)

How can I argue with such sound advice… except Mrs. P is crushed by this more than I am. I’m on board with the Skoolie Toy Hauler, but she can’t see how I could possibly make something as nice as (appearance wise) the big manufacturers. I guess I’ll need to just prove it.

Had a great time visiting @19richie66 and Karen today with the Stertz Gang! It was HOT and sticky outside but we still managed some seat time on several of Richie’s machines… Zach enjoying another GT-14 besides Blackbeard! Skittles is a sweet machine! Judge liked Karen’s Tractor—that M20 has some power for sure! I drove several including the Heston articulated machine. The cab/sunshade was really nice today👍🏻 Caleb is reunited with Skittles after three years. It brought back a lot of memories from our visit to the BS back in 2018! Thanks Richie for being a great host! The fellowship was wonderful and the whole family enjoyed ice cream at the Creamery! Always fun to connect with fellow RS members🙌🏻😎. Already looking forward to our next visit…

Finally got one of these junkyard engines together. Much Thanks to @oldredrider for the needed parts. And @rjg854 for the Kabitzing. Couldn't run it long as it's still early Sunday morning. A little noisy due to bad genny bearings. It isn't charging either going to have to look into that. Also the China carb needs some tuning. Plan on breaking this engine in on this stand then putting it on the shelf.

would love it if toro made new decks but, last time toro made decks they were more $$$ than a big box store lawn tractor with deck. sadly, the vast majority of people these days either buys a cheapo lawn tractor or pays a lawn service to cut their grass. preserve what you have! regards mike in mass.
