11 pointsWell that’s what I’m been telling myself for a couple years now but as a true horse-a-holic we all no better . So Sunday evening checking out Craigslist (I do keep a eye out for other members too ) I come to this ad that said hasn’t ran in couple years but always stored inside. I see what looks to me is a big block stuffed under a short hood . I was adding up other clues that it was a 1055 plus you could just make out the headlights poking out behind the hood and that really got my attention. Had to pm @WHX24 Jim to see if he concurred with my observation . All this for a price that you know it’s going to be gone within hours . I just happened to be the first caller and I explained my situation and he would hold it for me . He had no clue what he had other than it was a old Wheel Horse that his brother left him and that he had since the early 70’s . I happen to make the comment of it having a stack and it looked good and he said it has lights too . So yesterday evening my cousin went to pick it up which made the whole deal better was it was only 23mins away from us . It’s not pretty by no means as it’s like its been painted with a brush. Only things I’ve found wrong is it’s missing the hood ornament , tab for hood release , cigarette lighter , knob for light switch and center cap for steering wheel . Has wrong seat , shifter knob and dash is boogerad up with wrong key switch and a push button where the lighter should be . All in all I think I did pretty good on this one . I bought the headlights setup and got the tractor for free . This one will make someone a great restoration project minus the lights someday. @gwest_ca don’t know if you have a registration for these.

8 pointsThis happened to jump on my trailer. I am thinking it is a 702. 7 HP Kohler with 62 printed on the serial number sticker. It needs some parts and some work, but engine is loose. Can't beat free! Guy said it was his dads tractor and the last time he remembers it running, his dad drove it. He said his dad passed away 26 years ago. Now I have a 701 and 702!

7 pointsAmazing what 12 horses will do😃 Just think, in places like, India, Pakistan and China, a set up like this would probably be classed as “Road Legal”!!! 🤪 113 bales of hay on trailer.s

7 pointsOops! Just bought two old mowers off ebay. Big old things that are spares or repair. One has a kohler engine with an oil filter so looks a serious bit of kit. Two of them virtually the same but other has a kubota engine and what looks like a car gear box fitted to it! It cost me £50 for the pair, and only 37 miles away. Wife is in stormy mood....

6 pointsGot that right ... just bought a 856 at auction and come to find out I already had one at home I didn't know I had...

5 pointsIf you wanted a long A$$ bus. Why not one of those cool city accordion busses. The got those awesome front lowering systems and the pneumatic doors.

5 pointsGave my mud mower a 3/8" body lift with some steel plate I had leftover. That's about the most I could go without buying new bolts, but it gives the 25x10 ATV tires just a little more clearance. While I had the fender off I gave it new LED taillights and wired a 4pin trailer plug (only wired the ground and running lights since I don't have a brake switch, yet). Looks pretty cool with my recently completed harbor freight trailer in tow.

5 points312-8, 314-8 or 314-H, 315, etc, ... Magnum or Command powered the twin cylinders sound sexy and all but singles are the way to go IMO because they are so easy to work on and parts are easy to find just taking the shroud off of an Onan is a pain

5 pointsI have a car battery in my C160 with the loader. When I added gear reduction steering, I moved the battery under the seat...

5 points‘it sure is ! ALL Kevin has to do is let the kids paint the bus all the colors of the rainbow
-
5 pointsNot a very good picture. It was on my bucket list as I have it’s hydro brother and this one has a sought after option. Only reason I did buy it was it was only 20min from me and I basically stole it for what he was asking . More pictures to come.

5 pointsOh. I like word games. Cantankerous? Contagious? Coitus? Columbus? Oh wait, word clue "dust" must be Circus. It would be a Colossus achievement for me to guess it so quickly. 😁😁

5 pointsHere’s my fire department’s bus conversion. It’s our parade float, a tradition that’s been going on for over 50 years. We used to have a lowboy trailer that was towed by my father in law until insurance became in issue. Then we got the bus and converted it so we can have a building on the back and water tank in the middle.Every year we have a different theme. We literally light the building on fire and go through the parade, I mean ripping fire with flames pouring out all four sides. People absolutely love it (most!) we throw water on everyone and everything but the fire! We used to shoot off a 10 gauge shotgun with blanks and scare the crap out of people but apparently that was too much for some people!!!

4 pointsWell... I did it. I gave my employer my RETIREMENT notice today! As of August 6th I will be among the ranks of the fully retired. Thirty Two years at that job! Gone in the wink of an eye. You youngsters take note of three things: 1. SAVE SAVE SAVE as much money as you can afford NOW! If you do you will be able to retire early and not wait till you're old. 2. TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH! RELIGIOUSLY! You're going to need them for a LONG TIME! 3. BUY the BEST MATTRESS you can afford! You spend 1/3 of your life there, might as well be comfortable! That's all you need to know.

4 points‘Mark you know I’m looking out for you but this one had my name on it and was in my backyard . Big block short hoods are my favorite and now just need a 1045 to complete the set but that’s not probably ever going to happen. I’m thinking a buy/sell , meet and greet here in the fall would be great . I’m sure I can use the hayfield next door. @WHX24 I don’t believe so but I have the parts to fix it .

-
4 pointsI think you been smokin the same pumpkins! If you guys spent as much time at work as you do coming up with this stuff you could just go out and buy a toy hauler! Hey Kev who was the gal riding shotgun & eating the cup o noodles.... didn't look like Mrs P.

4 pointsInstalled the mowing deck on the 500 Special. Good news is that is really quiet, bad news is the big hole up front. Will have to get that patched.
-
4 points@pullstart I think that it's genius!! Been thinking about doing the same thing. Kinda thought about also finding a damaged camper trailer to rob every thing out of for the conversion.

4 pointsCrikey its hot here! We are not used to this kind of silly weather. If you want it warm go abroad lol. Managed to cut the verges and green before it got too warm this morning. Been repairing a cylinder mower for a guy. Really needed sharpening but he didn't want to spend money on that. He took it to a tool shop who said they would sharpen it for him for 20 quid. All they did was run a dremel over it, not even touching the cutting edges. At least the work I did is right.

4 pointsRadpferd is sporting an Interstate YTX20HL-BS battery. This would be a replacement battery for a Harley Davidson FXSTC as well as a few other FX models.
-
4 pointsCeiling is done in the barn Working on the walls now. 1 1/2" foam board between the purlins and then cover that with plywood underlayment.
-
3 pointsI hope you have no downhill sections to negotiate! Impressive load for the horse though.
-
3 pointsWow sure don't look like her! Course this was two years ago already.... my how fast they grow!
-
3 pointsI will toss in my 2 cents. I had a C-161 and I had a 416-8. If I was to have one of them back I would lean towards the 416-8. Automatics are nice but tricky to move around your garage when not running. I like the 16hp Magnum Engine. The 416-8 was a beast. Up for any task you give it. As long as it is a Wheel Horse you cant go wrong with what ever one you choose!! Welcome to the Red Square !!
-
3 pointsA C series 12 HP or better. A C-160 in a hydro would be the cat's meow. Use the '73 for light duty tub pulling.

3 pointsNot needed at the farm so finished in the pond this morning. Left some reeds. Some to hide my wood yard a bit and some where there is a willow. Took away three more loads. That makes ten in total. I wouldn't have thought that many when I started. Last load before lunch. Now to find a shady spot to relax in out of the sun.

3 pointsWith the 16ga metal that I was welding I had this welder temp set on "C" and the wire speed around "4" dragging the bead for stitch welding with .030 flux core. For the blind welds (spot welds), I turned the heat up to "D" and the wire speed up to "4 1/2 to 5". If you find that you are starting to burn through, back your gun away from the material a little bit until you find a sweet spot.

3 pointsHad to do some reconstruction on our IH 4700 today.. The floor in this truck was getting pretty soft. Here is a pic of the right side of the truck after I cut the rusted floor panels out. Rocker panels were also in bad shape. After a little tin knocking I was able make some new rockers out of some 16ga. New floors in & welded in place.
